Football is dynamic these days and we don't have such fixed designations as "defender" and "forwarder" as if those words were printed on the foreheads of players when they were born. Dani Alves himself was a winger converted to a fullback; and that is common these days. Same with Marcelo. And same with Kuyt currently at the WC with Netherlands. Bale was reverse (fullback converted to a winger) The list goes on and on. This shows the dynamic interchangeability between "winger" and "fullback" because the fullback these days must possess the abilities of a winger and double as both (winger and fullback).

A lot has been said about this superstar signing, the whys and wherefores of his leaving, the contract's contents, his sendings-off in one city and his welcomes in the other, but little has been said about how Suárez feels about his move to the Camp Nou. Few people are aware that ever since the Uruguayan was a youth player in the Uruguay national team, he dreamed of one day playing for Barcelona.

This desire was admitted by the lad himself to journalist Juan José Díaz of Montevideo's newspaper, El Observador. Back then, Suárez had no idea of the dizzying heights he would reach, but the Salto-born youngster from a difficult childhood and tough life in Montevideo was in no doubt that where he wanted to be was in Europe, and if he could choose, Barça.

Díaz, seeing that the player was to sign for the Catalan club, delved into his archives and found an interview with Suárez when the youngster was making a name for himself in the Uruguay youth teams. In the interview, he said that he had always been a Barça fan, apart from a Uruguay one. Today, the player feels that his dream has at last come true, and recalls how he used to turn up to the Uruguay training sessions carrying a backpack with the Barcelona emblem on it. "Hahaha, do you remember that? That grey one? I was always a fan. Let's see what happens; I hope it all goes okay", said Suárez to the same journalist many years later, waiting for the negotiations to follow their course and with the entire footballing world talking about Barça's possible new signing.

Johnpaul88: Why did Atletico Madrid best us in all the matches we played last season with them ? It wasn't because of our poor defense, but our predictable and ineffective attack, which Sanchez was a part. We'll buy defenders this summer but our attack was way too poor, with none of our attackers offering anything different from the other. Scoring that extra one goal in all the competition last season, could have changed our season, but none came.

I believe the board did the right thing to sell him. He's even our second highest sale after the infamous Figo sale! I'm not deceived by his performances in the world cup. I believe 3 seasons were large enough for him to show his real qualities in Barca. There were glimpses though but they were rare & far between.

We'll buy defenders but a stronger attack gives you an edge ahead of your opponent. Brasìl's capitulation to Germany wasn't entirely due to a defensive catastrophe. Their attack was non- existence and the Germans were able to overload and eventually overwhelm their defence.

Johnpaul88: There's nothing to be surprised about. Alexis would yield more money than Pedro & Barca still like to maintain their identity with their youth players. We've lost alot of them already this summer.
I'm in support of Alexis sale. But Barca can still make more money off him though. Afterall we're buying a far superior player in Suarez and we'll like the development of young players like Deulofeu, Halilovic & other youth players in the academy, to continue. We can't keep everbody. As i know all too well, Alexis' form have been better for Chile than for Barca. It won't surprise me if he comes back & creep back to the indifferent form he's shown so very often. I'll be happier though if he goes to Man City. That will mean more money & that's what Barca needs right now.
