Politics / Re: Supreme Court Commences Hearing Of Appeals By Rivers APC Factions by barristerzinny(f): 3:57pm On Feb 11, 2019
AreaNews:
The Supreme Court has commenced hearing of the three appeals filed by the two factions of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in River State led by Ibrahim Umah and Ojukaye Amachree.

During the proceeding on Monday in Abuja, the court heard arguments for and against the ruling of the Court of Appeal which stayed execution of the judgment by Justice Chiwendu Nwogu.

Justice Nwogu had in his jugdement barred the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising the primaries conducted by the Rivers APC wherein Mr Tonye Cole and others were nominated to represent the party in the coming general elections.

Family / Re: Impending Child Custody Battle: Baby Mama Preventing Access To My Daughter by barristerzinny(f): 5:17pm On Jan 27, 2019
iloputaife:
It’s a long story but I will try to keep it brief.
About 6 years ago I dated a lady from Delta State from the Urhobo tribe. Along the line she got pregnant.
Although the relationship did not end in marriage I did not at any time deny responsibility for her pregnancy and I went with my mother to see her father when he requested a meeting

Due to a serious medical condition she had the pregnancy was a very difficult one but she eventually had a beautiful healthy baby girl. She spent a total of 32 days in the hospital and run up a bill of over N1 million which was eventually paid with some help from her family.
Due to her prolonged stay in hospital she was forced to resign from her job but she was lucky to get another job several months later.
After the baby was born she continued living with her parents cos I was still adamant I was not going to marry her however, I was seriously willing to give it serious reconsideration.

What made me suspend the decision to formalize our relationship was that I noticed that she was becoming unnecessarily rude and insultive to me.
I will give an instance, there was this one time she called me on a Wednesday while I was at the library preparing for a professional exam to tell me that the baby’s provisions had finished and that I should send some money and I said I wasn’t going to send any money cos I had previously sent money about 2 or 3 days before; the next thing she did was to start raining insults on me on the phone.
Later that weekend on Saturday I went to visit her and our baby at her parents house and after I had sat down in the living room her mother accosted me and said “I no like the way way you dey talk to my daughter” and just as I was getting ready to defend myself this lady flared up and started shouting “you’re crazy, You’re crazy, stupid man” etc.
I immediately stood up and made to take my leave and much to my surprise this lady followed me out of the house into the compound raining insults on me.

While all this was going on her mother was present but she did not make any effort to ask her to stop. I found this very intriguing and shocking at the same time cos I am from the eastern part of Nigeria, Anambra state and where I come from no woman will stand by and watch her daughter insult her husband or father of her child.
This happened about 6 months after our daughter was born and she was lying on the sofa in the living room when it happened.

I should emphasize here the lady in question is a well spoken and relatively well exposed graduate and not some lay about but it just so happens that for some reason pigin English is the lingua franca in most Niger Delta homes.
I stayed away for over 3 months after this incident happened but I was surprised when I eventually went back and her father did not bother to ask me why I stayed away for so long.

Things continued this way until our daughter was a little over 2 years old and was about to start school.
We had a discussion and agreed that she should start school in September of that year, however, I was surprised when all of a sudden my baby mama’s mother came out of the blues and said that our daughter should be enrolled to start school in April and I kicked against it since it was not the original plan and I was not ready to let her dictate to me how to run my affairs.
They enrolled her in April and paid the fees since I said I would stick with the original plan.

From then on our relationship soured further and I stopped visiting altogether but my mother who incidentally is quite fond of the lady continued to visit them until eventually she too stopped cos they made her feel unwelcome through subtle body language.
Please note that prior to the breakdown in our relationship I had always been involved in my daughter’s life, I went to the hospital the day she was born, I participated at her christening, then her first and second birthday parties.
One of my mother’s complaints was that whenever she visits they will be making comments in their language while she’s seated there with them.
Much later after our daughter started school I sent some money for the payment of my daughter’s school fees and my baby mama sent the money back to my account and as a result I just ignored and left her to her own devices.
Much later after I had stayed away for a while I decided to open an education fund account for our daughter and I was told to bring her passport photograph and a copy of her birth certificate.

I asked her mother to send me a copy of her birth certificate and she refused and as a result I could not open the account.
About 2 or 3 months after this incident when schools were on a long holiday she decided to take our daughter on holidays to the United Arab Emirates and part of the requirements was that the father must sign a Consent Form cos our daughter bears my surname; when she called and told me about it I agreed to sign it on the condition that she would give me a copy of our daughter’s birth certificate.
I went to their house, gave them a copy of the bio data page of my international passport and signed the forms on the assumption that I was dealing with someone with integrity.

After about 1 week she still had not sent me a copy of the birth certificate as agreed so I sent her a reminder on WhatsApp and she blocked my number immediately.
As a result of this I suspended all communication with her until I was about to leave Lagos for an engagement which lasted about 2 years.
Before I left I bought some cartons of biscuits and packs of Ribena fruits drinks which our daughter would take to school as refreshments.
When I got there her parents were very hostile and almost refused accepting the stuff but I left them in their compound after they had been offloaded from the car.

There are some other incidences which I have omitted for brevity.

Now the issues is that want to see my daughter but I have no desire to visit them at home.
I sent a text message to my baby mama to request to see my daughter in a public place of her choice and she ignored it.

I want to further pursue this matter legally but I want to know if there are further remedial actions I can take before I resort to this.

I am willing to explore other means first cos if I go the legal route then there is no turning back for me no matter the cost or inconvenience.

Once I start legal process on the matter I will not look back until we get to the logical conclusion of this matter.

I want people who are experienced in child custody cases to give me their opinion.

Please move this to front page:-

i will advise you based on the child rights act, this is my number 08117409752. I have to check it up and get back to you.

If You've Never Been To Lufasi Nature Park, Here Is What It Looks Like (pics)

Before diving deeper, here are a few things you should know about Lufasi Nature Park

LUFASI is an urban forest created for people to connect and interact with nature.

LUFASI sits on 20 hectares of land at the Majek area (Km 41) along the Lekki-Epe Express Way. It houses species like the Ekki “Iron Wood” tree (Lophira Alata), the critically endangered Hooded Vulture (Necrosyrtes Monachus) and the African Pied Hornbill (Tockus fasciatus).

The park is opened all year round and the opening times are as follows:

Weekdays & Saturdays (including Public Holidays) – 9:00am to 6:00pm
Sundays – 12:00pm to 6:00pm

Gate Fees:

Children – 500 Naira
Adults – 1000 Naira.

The Journey
Since it was a team of 10, I opted for a taxify cab instead of renting a bus which might cost more. Lufasi is really far from Onipanu (our departure point) so it’s just logical we set out early.

We Left around our converging point some minutes past 1pm and by 3:30, we were already honking at the main gate of the park.

The large smile accompanying the “welcome to Lufasi park” by the gate man gave me the first conviction that I’ve made the right choice.

Beside the car park (which is the first space on the right side of park once you enter) is the reception which was clad in bamboo trees. It reminded me of my adventures at Idanre Hills, only that this reception is smaller and the receptionist seems to be more professional.

I made the required payment of N10,000 in cash even thought there an option of POS. This payment granted us access to the facility and also a dedicated tour guide.

Now the team had to decide which should come first: a tour round the park or their discussion.

Majority went for the tour, so I fetched our assigned guide (a lady who I figured would be in her mid twenties). She wasn’t rude, in fact she went all out to ensure we found a superb space for the team.

In no time, the tour began. While our guide explained calmly all we needed to know about the 4-year-old park while I froze every interesting moment with my 50mm camera lens.

The Anatomy Of Lufasi Nature Park
The park is stylishly divided into 3 and the parts include:

1. The Reception area and car park

As earlier explained, this part is where every visitor gets to first see before accessing other parts of the park. The toilet (a considerably neat one) also belongs to this part.

2. The play area

This portion played host to the Chickens and tortoise spaces. The horse rescue centre and table games section stood on the left, directly opposite the children’s play ground, and a beach sand field for soccer. Far ahead was the cage of the monkeys (with a dedicated guide who explained in dept all the team needed to know about the ever lively mammals).

3. The fields

Stretching farther into the park is a large expanse of land featuring the artificial lake, a mini football field and the Ekki forest.

How Best to use Lufasi Nature Park
Couples quiet time

Lufasi is one of the cutest places to have a private time with your better half if you are tired of doing eateries and malls. the gentle whistling of the breeze and naturally cool atmosphere will sure blow your mind.

Children’s timeout

The safety of this park is what makes it really cool for Children, as they can get to learn about nature and as well have an amazing time on the playground for as long as they want.

Movie shoot

Not only did we encounter people who came to shoot a scene or two of a music video, we saw Reekado Banks, a popular Nigerian hip hop artist who also was around for a shoot, using another portion of the Park.

Family picnic

At every point in Lufasi Nature Park are stylishly designed sitting areas suitable enough for families to comfortably have a fun time without any disturbance whatsoever form other fun-seekers or the environmental pollution on the streets of Lagos.

Tips On having An Amazing Time

Go with people. It’s fun.
Wear Comfortable (long) clothes so as to prevent the flying insects
Go with Good DSLR camera (a good camera phone will do too)
Hire a cab or bus because you might be too tired after the tour to start jumping buses.
That’s it all for now.

there is no case here!
you did not make a genuine offer for her to stay with you for eternity.

she did not say that she will stay with you for eternity.

therefore there is no contract to begin with.

she said she loves you.you say you love her

you had intimacy with her and you paid for the time.

she moves on to her next client and why the case
that is not a false pretense, it was a consensual relationship. There was no contract nor breach of contract, to sue her. So you have no cause of action. An action can only be brought on breach of promise, to marry. Which is not the case here.

BoneBlogger:
So many people created their Facebook account for the sole purpose of doing business. No wonder you often see personal Facebook accounts having business names. For Instance, you may see names like Mazino Realtor, Rita Signature and so on. The purpose of having such names is to promote their respective businesses.

Doing business on Facebook is highly welcome but using personal Facebook account to represent a business is against Facebook’s Terms, you may likely lose your account. Therefore it is advisable to convert it into a Page.

Facebook Pages are designed for businesses and organizations, with features that help you connect with customers and reach your goals. With a Page, you can create ads and reach more people from different locations and age groups.

What You Ought To Know Before Converting To A Page

1.You can only convert your profile to a Page once and this is based on your personal account. What this mean is, your personal account will still be active and will be used to admin the Page.
2. Facebook will transfer your profile picture and cover photo to the Page.
3. The name on your personal account will become the Page's name but you can choose to change it later which will be subject to review by Facebook.
4. Tools to help you move info from your profile to the Page will be available for 14 days after conversion. This mean that you have only 14 days to move all information from your personal account to the converted Page.
5. Your friend will automatically like your new Page if you select the option to do so, but posts on your profile won't be carried over to your new Page.

I don taya. Two months into this job and I am already looking for a greener pasture. I was happy when the offer I received from the firm tripled my previous salary but it's a different story entirely since I started receiving bank alerts.

First, they pay salary 5th of the next month which we complained about but the HR (a Chinese) said that's how it is even in their headquarters in China. The first salary I received, dude claimed it was because I resumed Nov 12 and not the first day of the month. I chilled and let it pass.

I wasn't even expecting my salary again at all this year and around 4am when I woke up to pee, I checked my phone only to see an alert from my bank. It was from my workplace. About 40% deductions was made again. I am just waiting for day to break so I can grill the HR but then I am sure he'd look for ways to justify the deductions.

I didn't miss any work day this month. I don't want to give more indepth info cos many of my colleagues at work are Nairalanders and they might snitch on me.

What do you lovely people suggest I do? How will a chinko be subjecting me to 21st century slavery? I know end-of-the-year bonuses. I have never heard of deductions in my life.

check the contract of employment you signed, complain to the HR. if they continue, please look for another job. Chinese people don't like paying their staff, good salaries.
