All of a sudden, MEND is now an educated rebel body? who then did Yaradua and GEJ send to schools in Ghana and other parts? educated people or who? try to reason like an intelligent person.

One more thing, when did kidnapping become an economic gain? you kidnap children, you demand for ransom, you get the ransom, you spend the money on women, drinks and drugs, once exhausted, you come back and kidnap new set of people. you even kidnap people for recharge card, is that also for economic gain?

The Aljamaris are fighting the PDP led govt who stole their mandate, but unfortunately, some bad eggs are there spilling the protest over to innocent people.

The NYSC members that got kidnap in Abia state, do they equal one person? Pete Edochie that was kidnapped? the school bus with kids nko?

Which north is kidnapping a whole region? is your brain working at all?

most of the affected people in the north (currently) are PDP stalwarts and Northerners who sold out the lives of the common northerner for money!.

^^^

In your little world now, you've a brain? get one while stock last.
dumb!i rather be kidnapped for ransome than be maimed like a cow for nothing. total people kidnapped in the east since it started in 2008 til date are not up to 100 and 99.9 percent of them are alive while more than 100 people are killed in just a day of rioting over nothing in the north.

At times i wish there was a way i could contribute to the developmnent of Igboland. I don't know what those Igbo business men that meet every year in the US discuss. I think a body independent of government needs to be set up to drive massive development in the east. Some things they need to so include:

1) Make existing commercial cities(eg Onitsha, Aba, Nnewi) liveable.

2) Expansion of all Major Igbo cities. Cities such as Enugu, Owerri, Aba, Umuahia, Awka, Nnewi, Asaba need to have greater areas that are well planned.

3) We also need to look into providing basic amenities to every semi-large cities and towns like Abakaliki, Agbor, Nsukka etc.

There will be no use to build new cities rather we should develop the existing cities.
i agree with you , enugu is the best planned city so far and can be expanded to accommodate at least 3 million people something Sullivan is currently doing (independence layout phase 2 have been mapped out and road construction is ongoing there) i think it currently accommodates 800thousand.

the problem with onitsha, nnewi ,aba and most igbo cities is that they were developed by igbos so they really didn't have a master plan as they were extending . pH and onitsha are going out of control like Lagos and we need at least 2 more large cities like that to support them especially from okigwe, abakiliki ,umuahia awka,   there are lots of empty land in south east, Nigerian map is misleading as it makes you think igboland is overpopulated or too small . we don't really need new ones just expand the existing ones and try to minimise deforestation .
owerri may not need expansion since it has already eaten into the villages there but oguta have massive lands that are empty and i think they are already building a new city there to support the refineries that are being built there.

as for the economy we have always built our economy ourselves so that is the least of our problem , hundreds of manufacturing companies both small scale and large scale have been springing up in enugu since Sullivan took over.

however apart from northern Nigeria i don't see why any igbo man living in anyother part of Nigeria or world should relocate back if he is doing fine where he is,expansionism is a good.

MASSOB warns against killing of Igbo in North

On April 21, 2011 · · In News

BY CHIDI NKWOPARA

The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, has warned that it could not afford the luxury of folding its arms and watch helplessly as Ndigbo continue to be slaughtered in the Northern states.

MASSOB read the riot act in a communique issued Tuesday evening, after its emergency meeting at Freedom House, Okwe, Onuimo local government area of Imo State and signed by the National Director of Information, Comrade Uchenna Madu.

“The Movement condemns the killing of innocent people, particularly Ndigbo, in the Northern part of Nigeria. MASSOB will not fold its arms and watch the killing of Ndigbo in the Northern part of Nigeria.

“If the killing and maiming of innocent people, particularly Ndigbo, continues in the next 24 hours, there will be no guarantee that the perpetrators of such evil acts will not be effectively challenged,” the group warned.

Condemning the riot, which has been largely linked to the presidential election, described as largely free, fair, peaceful and credible by local and international bodies, MASSOB, however, urged Ndigbo to remain calm.

It said: “Ndigbo are advised to remain calm wherever they are in Nigeria and await further instructions. Where assistance and attention are needed, Ndigbo are advised to call the following lines, 08125694759, 08063425055, 07032635198 and 08055907144.

its time massob organized themselves secretely in the north so that in such event they can take proper action. they should start operating like a secret security service for the igbos/efik/ibibio and other easterners since they are no longer serious with the biafra stuff they need to engage themselves with current situations in nigeria.

1. SW were and always will be THE great opposition. Even if SS/SE had given GEJ 100% of their magic ( grin) numbers, 100% numbers of the SW with the North's would have canceled out una rubbish.

2. Of course it was irrelevant. Only 2mil out of 15mil voted. Makes you shiver doesnt it? Imagine if they had all voted, in the interest of the North. So our silence made this election very relevant. It's like saying the SW gave it to you on a platter.

3. This is what happens when Anthropologist fail to do long-term field work of the region they're studying. Their intervention never works. Yorubaland has always been united. Unfortunately, the PDP politicians enforced on us (esp Ekiti State) for 12 years have made the union excruciatingly inactive. We were unified in culture, tradition and everything elce but politics. Now we are. With ACN we hope to speak in one voice and seek local developments. The politicians of the SW have now realized that they were not ordained to rule. People will vote them out if nothing is being done. Eyes have been opened.

One thig that is killing the Igbos :

1. SW has no interest in this election

2. Realization that if SW did have an interest, GEJ would not have won

3. The fact that SW is unifying itself.

4. SW is getting rid of PDP (do nothing for 12 years, live in darkness party)

5. SW is becoming one voice.

6. (Fill in)

2 SW votes were irrelevant

Any reprisal killings or mayhem targetting northern Nigerians who reside in other parts of the federation would amount to a tragic mistake, as it would feed into the illusion of nationwide instability that perennial election LOSER Ayatollah Buhari is so desperately trying to foster, in furtherance of his desperate attempt to instigate a military coup aimed at toppling the man who won the last election by a gigantic margin - Johnathan Goodluck.

Non-Islamic southern Nigerians currently residing in the Muslim north would be well advised to divest and sell their businesses located in the future Republic of Sharialand, which lies north of the Niger and Benue rivers,  so as to relocate to the industrialized south, where they can rebuild their lives in peace and safety.  It is only a matter of time before those illiterate swarms emerge from mosques and spill into northern Nigerian streets yet again, with murder and anarchy on the agenda, all over one flimsy excuse or another.

Just yesterday I indicated that if violence erupts in the north, the igbos, not even the south-southerners who are the main beneficiary of gej's 'pyrrhic victory'will suffer colossal loss from possibly misplaced anger. Why?they are crying more than the bereaved and by their sheer political naivity and loquaciousness, they ve put themselves in the arms way! While you stay on nairaland and pontificate, remember your igbo kwenu brothers/sister you ve put in arms way!pray for them.
you need to listen on channels tv to the protest remark of the cpc party agents, they practically exonerated the south-west while blaming the SS and SE(wetin be them own) for allowing their votes to be manipulated in favor of gej. They raised serious objection to purported average 85-99% voter turnout recorded in both SS and SE even when, according to them both international and local observers reported low voter turnout in most southern states.I did a small calculation using gej's polling booth as reference point,it was reported that 480 got accredited but only 413 voted(see sunday punch 18/04/2011 page 2) equivalent of 86%(this definitely would be lesser if the 413 votes is compared to the total voter number registered in that particular booth). Now how then is it possible for pdp to get 90% of total voters registered in bayelsa state shocked shocked shocked, how many elections in the world would u ve 90% voter-turn up? undecided. This similar thing played out in most SE and SS states raising suspicion about the credibility of figures from both zones.
Instead of hiding in siberia and writing nonsense, pray for your kith and kin in the north. The yoruba is the least of your headache!

MY REMARK YESTERDAY
The yoruba made a political statement with their votes.I think d igbos shouldnt rejoice, those who stayed away will quadriple those that voted in both SE and SS!

I think a sound political scholar would appropriately decode the message,in the art of war,it is called formlessness,we are not against you and you cant confidently say we are for you,so the bargaining continues!the south east just lost again!!they are always the losers,God forbid,if there is an uprising in the north now,the igbos not even the SS bcomes the target!!the south east are poor political students!

PoliticsAcn Denies Role In Alleged Jonathan’s Victory by bashr4(op): 9:50pm On Apr 18, 2011
The Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, has denied playing any role in the supposed victory of Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic party, PDP, President Goodluck Jonathan in last Saturday’s presidential election.

In a statement, Monday, by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said it is simply unimaginable and highly incongruous that a progressive party like the ACN will work for the victory of the PDP, which has put Nigeria in reverse gear
in the past 12 years.

The statement reads; ” The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) has denied playing any role, overtly or covertly, to aid the putative victory of the PDP in last Saturday’s presidential election,
despite the insinuation to that effect.
”We understand the seeming misinterpretation of the failure of our planned alliance with the CPC, to mean that we helped in ensuring victory for the PDP on the cheap. We understand the frustration of
our supporters that this hopeless behemoth could not be dislodged, in the interest of our union. But we say with all sense of responsibility that while we regret the failure of the alliance, we did not betray
our principles or compromise our integrity.

”Before the election, we had the option of working with the PDP but we did not take it, because we know this will not go down well with our supporters, and will negate everything that we stand for. Yes, they (PDP)
approached us, but we rebuffed their approach, because there is no way darkness and light can work together,” it said.

ACN said the truth is that PDP’s victory in the presidential election was not based on issues or ideology, but purely on primordial considerations.

”That election was fought on the basis of ethnic and religious considerations, matched by huge and unprecedented financial inducements. As we wrote in a statement issued before the election, billions of naira were allocated to
each state to be used for inducements and for compromising the election.

”Unfortunatately, the role of money became magnified in an environment of abject poverty and mass deprivation like ours, and a party flush with slush funds did not hesitate to take advantage of that,” the party said.

On the failed alliance with the CPC, the ACN said it did everything humanly possible to make it work, but the other party came to every negotiation perched on its high horse, and never for once came down.

”Even though we outperformed the CPC in the National Assembly poll, we still offered to step down for the party in the overall interest of Nigeria. We bent over backwards every inch of the way, especially in the three days of intense
negotiations before the election

”We risked everything: Our candidate agreed to step down in the national interest, at the risk of the damage that will be done to his candidacy if the alliance fails, and that was exactly what happened. While negotiations were still on, the CPC rushed to the press to say that our candidate has stepped down. Many then believed he would not be on the ballot, and limited their options to choosing between Buhari and Jonathan.

”We risked the election of our gubernatorial candidates, who might have been affected if we had directed our supporters to vote for the CPC in the presidential election, because such a directive may not have been easily reversed before the governorship
election.

”All we demanded from the CPC during the last days of intense negotiation, when we kept all our national leaders in Abuja for three straight days, was to allow us to produce the vice president after the election, and it became too much for them. Simply
put, these people wanted us to amputate our two hands for them, while they could not even afford to lose a finger!” the party said.

ACN added: ”Contrary to the arrogant disposition of the CPC that our party was the one virtually begging them for an alliance, the simple truth is that we did not go to them. A group of northern leaders approached us, saying they have spoken with Buhari
and that he has given the green light for the alliance.

”Even then, Buhari negotiated with us by proxy, until we demanded that he appears in person, which he did reluctantly in the very last stage of the negotiations, to no effect.”

ACN appeals to all its supporters and all those who desire a change for the better to put the disappointment behind them and continue to work for the emergence of the Nigeria of their dreams.

”On our part, we remain a party of integrity and progress, that will continue to offer the hope of a better, stronger and more united Nigeria to all the citizens,” the party said.
