I only use Netflix when NARCOS release new season. It's my sister and her family using my account mostly.

I've also just seen that their Direct Debit went from £12 to £14 last year so they will be having price elasticity of demand issues too. Also their content is not exhaustive, you can go through films or series that interest you in one year.

But most important to what's happening to their price is how a speculative bubble corrects. Netflix only have to lose 10% of their income for the stockmarket to flatten their price by 50% or more. Same will happen to any tech company that falls behind expectations in this current environment where speculative money is being unwound.

Netflix tanked because of massive fall in subscribers post pandemic as people came out of lockdown and some moved to Disney+. Also lost 700,000 subscribers in Russia with the sanctions.

Netflix has had woke content for years and their subscriber base increased exponentially. Netflix actually has all content. They simply have seen Disney eat into market share and their pandemic bonanza is over.

When you read everything through the prism of politics and no single financial sense is in your head. Instead of following and understanding markets, you follow politics.

So for the last year I have been saying the stockmarket is severely overvalued due to excess liquidity and heading for a deep correction upon interest rate tightening, you were busy burying your head in conspiracy. Has there been anytime the indexes went above a PE Ratio of 30 and not had a massive crash? I even stated that I've switched my pension to a fixed cash pension rather than let it ride the stockmarket



This is how markets work. When interest rates are low or zero, the most speculative instruments (Tech stock, Crypto) enter a valuation bubble. That's because cash is cheap, borrowing is cheap and there is no incentive to save, so funds put their money in stocks, mostly tech stocks. You have too much money chasing too little value creating valuations out of kilter with company performance. Add the fact that the Fed has been buying up balance sheets, there is too much money in the system and nowhere to put it except stocks, and even crypto. When the economy starts to stabilise, the Fed starts to increase interest rates and funds pull their money out of speculative stocks and invest in retail banking shares (retail banks are now making more money due to higher lending rates), commodities (gold, silver, oil etc) and Treasury bonds which offer more safety than stocks. The stockmarket then starts to collapse starting with the most speculative assets first. Fed dropped interest rate to zero due to the pandemic wiping 15% off US GDP. What you are seeing now is the inevitable unwinding of the gains that started in April 2020 when Fed dropped interest rate to zero.

But the best you can use to explain the end of a Business Cycle is "Go woke, go broke".

I didn't see any of these in Sweden who banned large gatherings, practiced social distancing, had a mask mandate and schooled secondary school and above from home. Sweden even have vaccine passports. They didn't lockdown fully but they took responsible steps, and their rates are still worse than their Nordic neighbours. Also only Stockholm has a population density comparative to other Western countries. That's only 10% of their population living in conditions that encourage transmission, and even at that Stockholm is made of 7 islands with a lot of fresh air. Djurgarden is the only place where you go to a City and feel you are in the countryside.
