Solar power works by light not heat. Even when it is snowing or cold, energy is transferred as long as the sun is visible. A solar power system also has an inverter battery system to store energy for when the sun is out.


There are also electric and hybrid trucks.

Don't know what ignoramus taught you that. A fossil fueled plant has a rating of how much power to produce. Comes down to how much fuel to burn.
A hydro only needs a certain amount of 'head" and volume to ensure rated generation power.
A nuclear plant only needs a certain amount of nuclear fuel to produce rated power.

Solar needs sun. When it's cloudy the solar plant can't produce it's rated power.
Wind plants. Can't produce rated power when wind changes direction or it's not windy. Stuff man can't fix only optimize.

Load flow optimization requires a lot of knowledge. When the renewable sources are not producing their rated power , the grid requires traditional sources to kick in during peak demands. In other words renewables are vulnerable to weather vulgaries and are not reliable.They need traditional power generation sources.
But as long as we are not producing power from fossils the left is happy.Its a feel good orgasmic feeling for the left.
