Akinyelure had earlier accused the party’s National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, National Secretary Mai Mala Buni and the National Organising Secretary, Osita Izunaso, of doctoring the delegates’ list. He had further alleged that the three national officers usurped powers of the National Working Committee (NWC). Halierd said contrary to Akinyelure’s claim, he also voted that the report of the Ondo Appeal Committee, which recommended a cancellation of the poll be rejected. “Before we met on the last day for the submission of name to INEC, we had met three days earlier. “In that meeting, there were two reports before the NWC and that of the appeal committee was voted on. That very day, we were 14 in number, not 11 as we have it in the media. “About 13 of us voted for the appeal committee’s report to be thrown out, only one person voted for the retention of the report and that person was the National Vice-Chairman (North-Central) Alhaji Zakari Idde. “Pius Akinyelure also voted that the report should be thrown out,” he explained. Halierd said the group urged the National Chairman and Secretary to consult widely before a ‘political solution’ could be taken. “When they returned, they told us of their efforts to reach many people for political solution but it was very clear to us that we were not going to have that political solution. “We had to go through the procedure as we have it in our constitution, which is that, when you send a team to conduct an election and there is a petition on their report, it is the NWC, as the appellant institution that has the power to consider the merits of the election committee report and that of the appeal committee report. “If the appeal committee’s report is thrown out, the only report that is left is the election committee report. “The Chairman had almost made a procedural error at asking us to vote but the National Organising Secretary, Osita Izunaso called his attention to the procedural error. “So, all of us returned to the proper procedure which is the election report by Gov. Badaru that was still standing. That’s what transpired,” he said. He criticised the action of Akinyelure after his preferred candidate didn’t win the primaries. “He shouldn’t be finding faults in the NWC, he should go back to Ondo with his team and the candidate that he prefers. “It is very vexatious, it is very annoying that a man who also voted that the report of the Appeal Committee should be thrown out is now crying foul.” he said. Many supporters of Mr. Segun Abraham, a leading governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo state, has registered their displeasure over the outcome of the September 3rd 2016 governorship primary election that produced Barrister Rotimi Akeredolu as the gubernatorial candidate of the party. The supporters in thousands marched through the popular Oba Adesida Street through the Oyemekun road brandishing placards inscribed with different inscription chanting solidarity songs with claims that Mr. Abraham remains the authentic candidate of the party. The Daily Times gathered that Mr. Abraham’s supporters, which included the youths, and elders who are loyalists of the APC were drawn from the 18 Local Government Areas of the state as they rallied their support for bereaved governorship aspirant during the procession. Armed with placards bearing different inscriptions, the supporters criticized the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) especially members of the National Working Committee (NWC) for abiding with the alleged fraud that was perpetrated during the party’s governorship primary election on September 3rd 2016. They disclosed that the Three-Member Primary Election Appeal Committee headed by Mrs. Helen Bedenga had recommended that the poll, which produced Mr. Akeredolu be cancelled and ordered for a fresh election that would be transparent to all the aspirants but wondered why the NWC refused to heed the call. The supporters also queried why the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun would overruled the decision of the appeal committee and submit Mr. Akeredolu’s name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for rectification despite crisis rocking the party over the alleged fraud perpetrated during the party’s primary poll. Rotimi Agbede, a die-hard supporter of Mr. Abraham told journalists during the procession that the various fraud detected during and after the primary election has further brought the national image of the party into disrepute. Agbede, specifically blamed the party’s leadership for the current impasse rocking the internal mechanism of the party as the November 26th governorship election draws nearer. “We find this rally necessary, following the undemocratic manner with which our National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun singlehandedly voted against the recommendation of the Appeal Committee that presented a chance to right the wrongs and give true democracy a deserved chance in Ondo APC. “It is to this end that we say “NO” to injustice, we say “NO” to a fraudulent primary; that we, the majority of the Ondo APC will not accept and embrace a padded outcome. “Our members are expecting a swift and favorable resolution from ongoing deliberations within the layers of the party internal mechanism that will represent the true position our members”, he said. Kemi Adeola, one of the disenfranchised delegates during the governorship primary election from Akoko North East local government areas of the state said the demands of the supporters was a common stance that the leadership of the party cannot afford to cover a fraud with another fraud. “Our position is firm, we are against the flawed process that produced Akeredolu, it does not represent our true position as at all as the fake delegates negatively influenced the outcome. “All we are saying is that the Ondo APC stands for Justice, that Ondo APC rejects Oyegun’s undemocratic decision, that the National Leadership of the APC should hear our demand for Justice, and our true votes must be allowed to count”, she stated. Adesoji Adesoji, who took part in the rally tasked the national leadership of the party to do the right thing by upholding the annulment of the fraud-ridden primary in order to allow the true mandate of the party members get represented. Earlier, there was a heavy clash between the supporters of Mr. Abraham and Rotimi Akeredolu during the procession as many were attacked and injured while the fracas lasted for several hours. The Daily Times correspondent gathered that some hoodlums allegedly sympathetic to Mr. Akeredolu stormed the street of the procession and unleash terror on the peaceful supporters who were also armed with posters. The hoodlums were said to have been armed with cutlass and axe while they machete key loyalists of Mr. Abraham and destroyed some branded campaign vehicles during the fracas. It took security agencies tough time before normalcy could return to the scene of the action as petty traders and road users on the Oyemekun road scampered for Safety. However, addressing his supporters, Mr. Abraham who condemned the attack and explained that he won the September 3rd primary election and would reclaim his mandate either by all legal means. He said that choosing any other candidate through a fraudulent means would spell doom for the opposition party ahead of the November 26th governorship election in the state. The APC leading governorship aspirant stated a chosen candidate through fraudulent means should not be trusted with governance, as their administration would further worsen the present economic and financial crises facing the state “It was a peaceful rally asking for our mandate to be restored and not to be delayed. All of a sudden, the Aketi (Akeredolu) people were brought in and attacked the people. ‘“The difference between the legal votes and the illegal votes is 34. It is not all about me, but at this level we think we should work together so that we can rescue our state. I am afraid that we don’t replace PDP with another PDP government. “This crowd has also shown clearly and I believe that the powers that be would also listen to the crowd because these are the people that will vote, unless they don’t want their votes. And that is a recipe for failure. I don’t pray for our party to fail.” Mr. Abraham said. Are yorubas really educated as they claim, to imagine that they never saw all these coming still baffle me |
NgeneUkwenu:august news is not old news my bro |
Confused dullard. the worst part is that those who hailed him for banning it will still hail him for lifting the ban |
The zoo is a dream killer, though i still don't like this Erisco guy because he has zero presence in the East |
sanky346:you people have started again, you keep over hyping Tinubu, making him overestimate himself and run into trouble all time, if shows open support for AD he will be suspended and if he makes trouble he will be arrested and nothing will happen |
Hard work pays, NA should patronize him after the award. By the way afonjas may lose sleep over this, especially the part that said he actually produced the vehicles
|
These are the key actors in 2015 election, where is the local champion Tinubu?? |
MayorofLagos:Let FG hands off on niger bridge or the expressways and see how it will be finished sharp sharp, we told you all skyscraper is not development and its the least of our problems considering the poor electricity in the zoo, thats why we limit it to 7 storeys all this while but you keep daring us, all our cities are filled to the brim with medium rise 4 - 7 storeys unlike your rusted roof shanties
|
yorubas keep making noise about Lagos all the time, why cant they replicate same in Oshogbo?? Lagos is just living on monopoly, infact, Lagos need to pay FG regularly for using its facilities to extort Nigerians |
Lol, afonja please google Okey Enelamah's CV. Google African Capital Alliance, he also worked for Goldman Sachs before founding ACA. Enelama is not among the lieing politicians |
1966 Akintola vs Awolowo loading, only this time there will never be another "igbo coup" |
flokii:OK, lets see how a tree can make a forest. Tinubu alone cant withstand the north with numerous political heavyweights, Obasanjo remain the most successful yoruba political because he joined forces with all southerners to checkmate the north yet yorubas don't like him, they only want some one who will totally exclude igbos for them, oya enjoy |
it is all this nonsense praises about the local champion called Tinubu that makes him overrate himself and misfire all the time. He should continue |
flokii:Political agberoism between Akintola and Awolowo set the ground fertile for a coup. This is the line Tinubu is following again, when buhari strikes and imprison him like Belawa did to Awolowo, Igbos will stand and look, we will not intervene again to save you knowing how you betrayed us and called it igbo coup in the past despite the key actors coming from three southern regions. One of your brothers Adewale Adegboyega later wrote a book "why we struck" remember he said "we" not "they" meaning he accepts full responsibility of being part and parcel of the coup, but your propanadna filled press keep saying igbo coup. Even when the war broke out, your other brother Victor Banjo was on the side of Biafra and requested help to liberate the west from Northern troops occupying it, yet again you called it igbo invasion and joined the North against Banjo
|
Obasanjo remains the most successful yoruba politician, why? Because he worked with fellow southerners to check the excesses of the north. |
Meanwhile, OPi-Nsukka road has been completed by the working governor
|
