It's in a bad state. i still remember the series of trysts i had there though. zik's flat was to be renovated by Chinedu Nebo when he was VC but zik's children took him to court and won, the building is zik's private property leased to UNN on temporal basis when UNN had no hostel, thats why UNN abandoned it to rot, Its no longer part of UNN |

I lived opposite his residence at Onuiyi during my university days. If you know ziks residence in Onuiyi very well you will discover that it not the building in the pictures, if you read the post well you will see where it said that the governor met with ziks widow in Onuiyi (Nsukka) while the building is his residence in Enugu when he was the premier. So, the building in picuture is a colonial govt property, you know the maintenance culture of govt properties in Nigeria. While his house in Onuiyi (Nsukka) is his private house and is well maintained |

Obasnajo had political sons and footsoldiers in SE and SS and that was why he could withstand the north. Tinubu is a lone wolf. a tree can not make a forest. imagine Tinubu vs Buhari, Saraki, Atiku, Kwankwaso, Tambuwal etc. unfortunately its already late to make amendments with SE and SS |

SurePresident: Shraki, Ekwerenmadu, etal...We the entire Southerners: Igbos, Yorubas, Edos, Benue... seems to be the most gullible and foolish region. Igbos are celiberating the gang up against Tinubu. The everly inconsiderate devilish north has perfected the game of playing us against one another. Igbos claim to be wise, Yorubas claim to be sophisticated, but alas they are both egoistically senseless and perpetually foolish going for each others jugular at the slightest nudging of the north. The day they both put aside stupid tribalism and self-destructive ethnicity to unite to fight the satanic north, that same day the self-styled "born to rule" muhammadans shall become slaves they were born to be; as they are originally almajeris. It is only when the political atmosphere does not favour yorubas that we hear this sermon, where were you when yorubas were boasting of how they kicked GEJ out and ridiculing igbos for being "losers"? Remember buhari and Okadigbo ticket was rejected by igbos in 2003 in the interest of southern solidarity with Obasanjo. |

Crime › Ogun Traditional Ruler Docked For Rape, Others by basilo101(op): 10:22pm On Oct 06, 2016 |
The Baale of Jangede village in the Obafemi – Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, High chief Adenekan Olanrewaju, was on Thursday arraigned before a state Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Abeokuta for alleged stealing, abduction and attempted rape. Adenekan was also accused of stealing the sum of N.3m belonging to one Soleye Sotande under the pretense of selling two plots of land to him at Jangede village. In the charge sheet read before Chief Magistrate O.A Sofowora, the police Prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Ehiagbejiale, informed the court that the accused abducted a 15-year-old girl, identified as Abosede to a hotel at Jangede village and attempted to rape her before her miraculous escape. The police prosecutor said further that the Baale also forcefully trespassed into two plots of land in the village owned by one Oluremi Okanlawon and another half plot of land belonging to Adeoye Gbemisola and thereby committed an offense punishable under the laws. The Baale was also accused of having conspired with others now at large, to conduct themselves in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace by threatening to kill the duo of Okanlawon, Gbemisola and four other persons who bought land from him should they enter the village again. According to Ehiagbejiale, the offenses are punishable under Sections: 86, 249, 359, 361, 390(sub. sec. 9), 419, 451 among others of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun state of Nigeria 2006. But Bunmi Adelabu, counsel to the accused, prayed the court to grant the Baale bail on the ground that none of the charges carries a death penalty, and also premised his prayer on the Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution which presumes an accused person innocent until proven guilty. “As a respectable Baale, appointed by the Alake of Egbaland, with no fewer than 15 villages under him, my client will not jump bail, he is not a miscreant. Aside from this, the bail will also afford him the opportunity to prepare for this matter very well,” Adelabu said. Ruling on the bail applications, however, Chief Magistrate Sofowora granted the accused a bail to the sum of N250, 000:00k with two sureties in the like sum. The case is adjourned till 24th October http://thenationonlineng.net/ogun-traditional-ruler-docked-rape-others/ |

Politics › Western Powers Blocking Nigeria’s Power Solution – Adeosun by basilo101(op): 12:51am On Oct 06, 2016 |
The Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, has accused western powers of being a stumbling block to Nigeria’s plan to improve power output through the use of coal. Adeosun said this on Wednesday in Washington during a discussion on the importance of addressing infrastructure gaps in developing countries at the World Bank, International Monetary Fund General Meetings.
She said that improving power supply was the corner stone of the current administration’s goal towards economic development, yet finding it difficult to get support from western community. “We want to build a coal power plant because we are a country blessed with coal, yet we have power problem. So it doesn’t take a genius to workout that it will make sense to build a coal power plant.
“However, we are being blocked from doing so, because it is not green. This is not fair because they have an entire western industralisation that was built on coal fired energy. “This is the competitive advantage that was used to develop Europe, yet now that Nigeria wants to do it, they say it’s not green, so we cannot.
“They suggest that we use solar and wind, which is the more expensive. So yes, Africa must invest in its infrastructure, but we must also make sure that the playing field is level,” she said. Adeosun said that in spite of the need for foreign borrowing to finance the country’s infrastructure gap, the strategy was to get the cheapest money.
She said Nigeria’s debt to GDP remained very low but that the cost of servicing those loans was high. “Right now, we are being very conservative about our debt and we are trying to get the cheapest money possible from multilateral agencies.
We are working very hard to make sure that we get multilateral funds first before we go to the euro bond market, which is a little bit more expensive,” she said. She added that the country’s strategy was to get public private investments because even if Nigeria dedicated five years’ full budget to bridging infrastructure gap, it would still be insufficient.
Meanwhile, a report released by the IMF showed that global debt was currently at a record high of 152 trillion dollars. The Director, Fiscal Affairs Department, IMF, Mr Vitor Gaspar at a news conference, said the debt was 225 per cent of World Gross Domestic Product. The report showed that 100 trillion dollars was debt of the private sector, while the remaining was public debt.
To address the growing problem, the report suggested targeted fiscal interventions in form of government sponsored programmes to help restructure private debt. “Fiscal policy cannot do it alone – a comprehensive action using all three policy prongs, that is monetary, fiscal and structural policy.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/10/western-powers-blocking-nigerias-power-solution-adeosun/?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter
