I Love Lagos with all my heart and soul. Lagos is stressful and all that but i am a Lagosian of the Durosinmi Etti Lineage. I have no where else to go. If u have another village or state, you can bounce . And as for those saying Lagos belongs to everyone just because Lagos is made up of people from different states are partly right. However Eko is a yoruba state. There is an Oba of Lagos just like there is an Oba for different communities in Lagos. The Governor of Lagos will always be a Yoruba man and the state radio 107.5 is a yoruba station.

Lagos has its faults but i will rather be here than anywhere else in naija

hold on

the last tim i checked word rankings

IB was in the top 2000

what happened since thenhuh

anyyyyyyways

why would the schools in naija be any good

when all the officials are using public funds to send thier kids abroad??

i say they pass a bill makin it cumpolsury for all gov.t officials to send thier kids to gov.t schools

and ull beginto see rapid improvements in those hell holes they call universities!

kmt- where the handouts are full of spellin mistakes and old theories! lemme not even start on the jargos they learn in med school!
Exactly my point before I backed out from this thread. If you have
been reading all along, you'll notice that people are still using the Wole Soyinka era
as criteria to rate Universities in 2010. These were days when these
schools couldn't even boast of a single desktop computer, days of manual
typewriters, days when they used ink and stencil to print exam papers, days
when they probably used to write in class with feathers and ink.

At this information age, a lot of upgrading should have taken place all through the years. The
transformation of Unilag through the years is very obvious when compared
to U.I. A lot of people just want to come out and support their alma mata
when these things are so obvious.

Buhari is too old to ditch his lifelong principles in favour of Government money; he knows he can't take cash money to heaven  grin

He's biased & weak when handing policy issues, that's his problem. He puts up that tough guy, anti-corruption front, but has a shitty attitude to certain very sensitive matters of National significance. like Sharia for example. plus he's a sucker for the Arewa Mafia

Redman44:
Except it is not the University of Ilorin I visited in 1999 huh ???
Exactly what I said about past glory. These so called ratings are not for 11years ago.

Redman44:
The University of Ibadan might have old buildings,
Unilag and OAU maintained their standard to the fullest. U.I and ABU fell off!!
I guess they all had allocations from the Federal ministry.

Redman44:
but the products of the institution are mostly intelligent.
My cousin is presently running his masters prog in the UK. He finished from
U.I. He maintained a GP in the range of a 3rd class from his entry level to his
400Level. He had an extra year but still graduated with a 2.2!!!

This can never happen in Unilorin.

Redman44:
And these days, the current VC of UI is changing the landscape of the university. Things are looking up at UI. Cheers.
That is what Unilorin has been doing since your last visit and in Nigeria-it can only take a
God fearing man not to divert that money into his pocket. I hope this V.C is!

You see U.I is just like the state and the state governor Akala. Nothing is happening there. I spent a
session in that university and I grew up Ibadan. I know what I'm saying.
Education › Re: Unilorin Leads Nigerian Varsities In World Ranking by baslone: 1:43pm On Feb 22, 2010
Most of those schools on that list above are just living on past glory.

In reality, FUT Akure is way ahead of UI in academics and I'm sorry to
say LASU is not a school!!!

Anyway, we still respect Unilorin, let's forget about the fact that it produced Becommrich. grin

Iranoladun&becomricch

Most of these lecturers you guys are talking about are either dead or outdated.

I doubt if your Prof Adeniyi(by the way I think he still lives in that staff quarters) can walk
without support. Prof Olufeagba was my H.O.D when I got in and lot of others came
after him before I graduated. He and his generation were wasted along with those
sacked ASUU staffs.

That place is totally different from the way I left it 8years ago, talkless of you
guys talking of the 80's. Plus all those activities were long dead!

At this information age, You need to go back there and see for yourself.

Well, it also had Education and Law facultiesback then.

Serves them right!

The only security issues Gbagada phase one ,palmgrove and
Somolu Bariga have are caused by this same Pedro Police station. A
lot has been written about them in newspapers but the government
didn't bother doing anything about it.

The rate at which innocent citizens are being harrased is just too high.
You'll hardly get to see any police officer in their station if at all you need
their service.

They all want to wear mufti and ride in yellow danfo buses picking up
people on the streets. It is a known fact that they go to different bus
stops at night, carry intending passengers just returning from their offices
and divert them to their station.

I have personally witnessed a situation where an okada rider they were
trying to extort fainted in their bus. These silly uniformed men thought
he was dead. His body was driven to the front of a brothel and dropped
in the middle of the road while people helplessly watched! He was later
revived by passers-by.

Serves them right!
