Dreamflyin: The cables might be good quality, but under sized. Hence why he is asking you for the size I.e. Cross sectional area. If undersized, your voltage drop especially for your 24V (or whatever it is) will be significant. Maybe check and come back to him so he can advice you? 1 Like |

Pls this thread is specifically for Treasury bills and possibly bonds. Can we take out these conversations on other less known investment options? Thanks! |

olacheey: The above must be from the secondary market. Either inform your bank that you want to buy from the primary auction which has only 91,182 and 364 days OR Go ahead to buy from the secondary market. I have seen some nice rates from the SM recently. At least you don't need to hold your breath waiting for the outcome of the auction on auction days. |

I had assumed (wrongly now of course) that our regular plastering was a form of cement screeding. I now guess this is wrong. Photos will be appreciated from the house o please. Along with pros and cons of each especially related to cost and maintainability. Thanks! |

Again, this is not recommended! Look online and you can see several stories/experiences in this. Solar depot had a number of DC breakers(can't recall seeing any DP though). It's easier to take certain risks when you know a system inside out. If you don't, biko buy the proper parts. 1 Like |

Double pole breakers can be bought as is off the shelf. Not a regular item on the corner shop but you should be able to get if you ask around, maybe they buy it specially from you. Dmerciful, So if PV and battery are connected to either side of the DP breaker, where does the CC fit in? Thanks. |

feelamong: Uncle feel among What's the minimum requirement to participate in these OMO auctions? Do you have to directly inform the treasury department of your bank that you're interested or how does it work? Is this available to all banks or only a privileged few? Apologies for the flenty flenty questions! |
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by battleaxe: 2:17am On Oct 13, 2016 |
DMerciful: Why would it trip during a sunny time as you mentioned above? I'm assuming it's because of an increased production I.e. Current at that point in time. If your breaker is correctly sized at or above the rated capacity of your CC; why would you not want it to trip when it's seeing more current than its rated for? That's its job! Again, if properly sized, the benefits to having a breaker there outweigh the possible risks to not having it there. We sometimes may never be able to comprehend what damage those 6k items save us from! N.B.: Note taken that if you have a breaker between your PV and combiner, it possibly should have tripped already based on your scenario above so CC should be all safe. |

DMerciful: .... Still..., The benefits outweigh the risks/exposure in my opinion. |
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by battleaxe: 2:39pm On Oct 12, 2016 |
@Dmerciful, Apologies for the Hmmnning. I have read a few manuals and I have never come across a manufacturer advice not to install any electrical protection between CC and battery. On the contrary, all of them recommended this. Secondly, while electrical protection offers you the added protection for your equipment in case of faults, it primarily also should be to protect you against fires resulting from overheating of your cables. I would think that whatever fault you have downstream of your CC (I.e. Between your CC and battery) which causes your breaker to trip, is such that if you did not have that breaker there, would have wrecked further damage upstream to your CC and above. I would rather have a tripped breaker with possible minor damage to CC electronic circuitry, than to have significant upstream damage or fire. I'm open to rebuttals on the above! |

feelamong: I concur. I know the current TB rates are making a lot of people have second thoughts about their bonds. TB rates will always rise and fall over the period of your bond duration (in this case 5 years). I do not believe that over that time period, that you will necessarily get more than say the 15.54% you're getting from bonds. If you don't need the funds desperately now, I advice to tough it out. Or wait till when you can sell at a higher price. I am aligned with feel among on the equity thingy..... Unless you're a pro. 1 Like |

honeyfave: Please, this is incorrect. I suggest people still take the time to read the first few pages to correctly understand the process. If your principal is 1M and based on tenor/interest rate, you get an interest of 130k; you get your interest upfront(depending on bank, entire principal or principal-interest may be debited). You get your 1M back at the end of the tenor. Your total interest over the entire period is still 130k. Pls let us be guided accordingly, so people can take the correct decisions. |

Hi house, Please between a quanta and Varta battery, which one is better for use in a solar setup? |
Family / Re: Solved by battleaxe: 2:24pm On Sep 27, 2016 |
Not totally related to advice seekers post but why do most men assume 'Being the bread winner' is the major responsibility they have and should ensure compliance from their women? I think that thought process alone is enough to freeze most women. Typical female day: Wake up at 4:30 Cook for Oga. Start bathing kids. Dress them up Oga wakes at 5:15. Bathes and dresses up Give them breakfast Oga goes to work at 6am Madam leaves the house after packing kids lunch and goes to drop them in school Returns home in tight Lagos or anywhere traffic Starts washing and cleaning of house Irons clothes. Preps for lunch. Does any food shopping required. Goes to pick the kids in traffic Returns in traffic Change kids, offer lunch, clean school bags Help with homework Start prepping dinner and does a quick clean before Oga arrives Oga arrives. Small chit chat on day Dinner. Oga eats and watches match or whatever at he's his fancy Washes up. Preps for next day Arrange kids bags... Continue with homework if multiple kids Night bath Kids sleep Mother eats Summary; The fact that your wife is a housewife does not imply she is working any less harder than you are. You are working to put food on the table, provide shelter and clothing. She is working to make sure the kids turn out to be people you're proud to identify with. Pls appreciate your wives- housewives or not! Apologies for the epistle. 10 Likes 1 Share |

Felicity2: Really? @adviceseeker, please ignore this posters advice. Nothing could be further from the truth and WILL damage your marriage. As in knock out punch type. If there is no crack, you stand a better chance of restoring your marriage. Don't put yourself in places where your will against temptations is easier to break. You will only widen the gap between you more with this posters approach. Many frustrated married people are looking for company... Pls separate the chaff from the wheat and dispose of intelligently. 2 Likes |

Also, the world over, I have hardly seen where educational competitions are rewarded at the same level of opulence as secular things such as beauty peagents. Maybe give $500, $1,000. An opportunity to represent your state at regionals etc. It's more of a personal pride thing in the academia circles. It's not a Nigerian issue. |

gen2briz: We are too emotional about these issues. It's strictly business. As an organization who chooses to sponsor an event, I will be looking at what my business stands to gain from the sponsorship. Attendees at the event, my brand showcased on TV, maybe also whenever the queen is out for events etc . That is a wide reach that I could choose to donate a car or whatever for. Now to the Maths or spelling bees etc; without knowing the statistics, we can almost assume the reach may be less for the sponsoring company. For companies like cowbell, indomie etc, they have managed to infiltrate that arena and make good if it. There banners on schools, during events etc. The products are low cost and a child can easily pressurize their parents to buy cowbell. If I were an airline, a car business etc, it's unlikely I want to sponsor such..... Unless it's just for corporate social responsibility. Which has its place as well. |

goingape1: You should take your own advice as you also don't know the details above. All Jerry is saying is that all sins are equal. While not a basis for defense, even if she had done 10 abortions, how many sins of fornication for example has the man done? That is my understanding of Jerry's response. |

wahihi: Until you walk in someone's shoes, don't be so quick to judge them. We do not know the basis of how she got pregnant the last time. Was it a rape, incest, abandonment, death etc? Perhaps another charming young man who insisted she got pregnant before he introduces her to his family and then ran off?? She has not told us(or maybe I missed it). Pls just advice her, address the issue of abortion; but not the offender. |
Romance / Re: My Fiance Is Leaving Me , Cause I Let Out My Painful And Biggest Secrets To Him by battleaxe: 4:17am On Sep 27, 2016 |
Cutehector: What is wrong with our populace? Even full untouched virgins have delayed conception. While not advocating for abortions, but the fact remains that this may or may not be the reason for the delayed conception. Unless this fiancé has gotten someone pregnant in the recent past, we cannot even rule out the possibility of the problem coming from him, either partially or wholly. If he has indeed gotten someone pregnant and aborted it( or maybe the child is somewhere), he is no different from the fiancée. 1 Like |
