@adviceseeker I think you already have what to do in mind. I say this as you have pushed back against most of the advice here and tried justifying your stance. While people may not know you and your wife personally, some of the mentioned symptoms can be diagnosed to offer an advice. I will like to kindly suggest you open up your heart and take in some of the discussions. Some are indeed chaff and need to be thrown away, but I believe you can find some jewels on there. I know most Nairaland men believe women are evils just waiting to push men to the limits, but for every cause, there is an action. Unless she's a good actress, sonething has happened or is happening that is causing this. Find this through deliberate conversation and you'll be closer to solving your problem. I believe that despite your claims that separation might be in the offing, deep down. In your heart, you want a deeply satisfying and loving marriage. Communication will move you closer to that destination. Seperation, eating out etc will not solve it. I urge you to please open your heart. Thanks. |
Not sure how it's calculated o! A few years ago, I was adviced that to get an extremely good plastering, to assume 400naira/sqm. I however didn't pay that much, more closer to 250 I think, especially if you're able to get a crew from areas where their 'mouth has not spread too wide'. Pls note that these rates were not to the workers directly but a middleman Supercisor, so it may be possible to get it even lower. If doing larger areas of course, this rate can reduce especially if the crew can 'live' on your site while the plastering is going on. Hence no transportation costs. Attempting a calculation though, I think a crew of 2 Masons and 1 labour/helper can finish plastering 2 numbers of 12ft length wall(I'm assuming a height of about 10-12 coaches) inside and outside in a day. The edges and curves are usually trickier. That works out to about 40sqm surface area total. Not sure what the labour rate is now, but if it's 4K per mason and 2k for helper, it works out to 10k Naira for that 40sqm. Hence, each sqm is about 250 Naira. Pls insert your local area rates and bargain for larger areas as workers are assured of income for say a month. Just a rough estimate. Maybe the resident builders can help with better assumptions. |
Thanks for all your wonderful responses- educative as usual. May I enquire as to the best bang for the buck, with respect to AGM batteries currently? With the rates these days, one shouldn't have to spew money for battery change in 1 year again. |
Monlo:So with an MPPT charge controller, what is likely to be the output from the 130W panel? Under an ideal sunny day? |
@bodejohn, dmerciful, pranil, all etc. Is it possible to get 130W from a 130W solar panel? Thanks. |
P.S: I think the bedding for floor tiles is more. Just noticed you mentioned the 285 is total for wall and floor. Same logic as above once you know what quantity is for wall and what for floor. Thanks. |
sdbaba:Apologies to @Egun for treating a subject different from his thread's intent. Hmnnn...... If I recall correctly, seems the intent is to have a 10-15mm thick bedding for the tiles. Thus volume of mortar required = 285* 0.01= 2.85 cubic meter Assuming a 4:1 sand:cement ratio; You need 1/5 * 2.85 =0.57 cubic meter of cement One bag of cement I think equals 0.038 cubic meter Therefore, you need 0.57/0.038 bags= 15 bags All of the above is of course theoretical, and there will be waste, shrinkage, white vans etc.... I advice you budget like 20% extra. Disclaimer: These figures are mostly from memory. Pls get the advice of a qualified person in this area. Thanks. |
p1jiobi:So Oga Lawyer, From your vast experience practicing law, what are the valid reasons allowed under the Nigeria Legal system, for a spouse to met such to his or her partner? |
Omonigeriarere:Bros/Sis, It's very simple. (Interest/Principal)*(No of days in year used/Selected tenor)*100% Which in your case will be: (42,313.18/500,000)*(365/182)*100% Note: Not sure if 366 is being used for this year since 366. There! You get your interest rate. Pls note that yield is different. For a 10%pa interest rate, the yield when interest paid upfront is 11.11%. If I'm not mistaken: Yield=(interest paid)/(principal- interest paid) Example: 1M principal, 10% pa interest, 365 day tenor Interest over a year = 10% of 1M= 100k Yield= 100/900 = 0.111 = 11.11% Simplified version: just divide your interest rate by the difference between 100% and your interest rate e.g 10%, yield = 10/90 20%, yield = 20/80 25%, yield = 25/75 Convert answers to % to get your yield. Yield is applicable when interest is paid upfront. Otherwise, no different from an interest rate. |
sureguy02:Your understanding is correct though the quoted interest suggests about 22.6% interest on the 1M if 365 day tenor, which we haven't seen in recent times. Yes, you need specify the principal in this case 1M on your form. |
I think people are missing the point. Are people in the diaspora(not all countries)exposed to better ways of working, a sane legal system, right atmosphere/support for business, security etc? A resounding yes!! Now, by this opportunity, is the art or skill of governance necessarily bestowed upon them? A resounding No! Governance and leadership is an art/skill, especially in a diverse, difficult terrain as ours. You can learn the basics/terminolgies of governance in college but that doesn't make you a leader, talk less of a good one! No matter how long you spend watching the best of chefs cooking and dishing out mouth watering dishes, it would never make you a good cook/chef. The meat is in getting your hands dirty, serving and leading in whatever positions are open to you at the council, town etc level, before you can position that you have something to offer Nigeria. This is very obvious in the pool of good people we have in some positions now- good ideas but it takes more than the ideas to lead/govern....... Diasporian or not! |
gaetano:Gaetano |
annawhite:Please don't call her crippled. This lady I see is in no way handicapped at all. |
adeg:Tenor choices for most individuals should be dependent on individual cash flow planning. While you will find that the rates for 365days are typically the highest, this also means that you are not able to respond as quickly should the rates appreciate, for you to be able to take advantage. Some individuals also simply do not have the energy to go through detailed studying requires prior to the bidding, towards ensuring they're submitting a winning bid. Rather do that for a 365 day tenor than four times for a 91 day tenor. For me, I do not think there's any tangible difference in the tenors- just plan your cash flow and use that to plan the tenor of your investment. |
Years ago, after a very heavy downpour, some of the folks around the area I lived claimed there had been a rain of catfish from above, that they had been able to pick fish off the road, after the rainfall. I imagine it was a fish farmer like you, who had lost his fish in the downpour. Sorry about your loss. I guess some people somewhere will be rocking fresh fish stew for some time. |
@goget Ampere-hour of your batteries?? |
@annalise Pls, the above explaination while mostly right is wrong on 2 major items. 1. It is possible to re-invest your interest. I do not believe Exobank offers that. A lot of other banks do that. 2. If you choose to reinvest your Interest, the exact compounding described is what happens. Except you get that in one go on the day of your bidding. Why wait for the next 2 weeks and the next 2 weeks to re-bid your interest? With the attendant possibility of loosing your bid? And multiple transaction charges, however minimal?( I.e. The 100 Naira charged per transaction?) I am sure First Bank and GTB offer this, not sure about other banks. |
bmdflo:His comma equals our full stop His full stops equal our comma Solar production started just before 8am and went on till a little after 5pm with peaks of close to 2.8kwh over a 4 hour period. I think the 18.3kwh produced should be right on track considering the entire production over the 9 or so hours. |
Dependent on the make of the items, it may be a good offer or an offer too good to be true. Pls use Gennextech's price list on previous page: 4 panels will be about 300k 1 5kva inverter is 288k Note that these prices are of course after customers duty, cost of business and profit are factored in. You make the call |
erico2k2:That was my understanding as well that power showers have inbuilt pumps that can increase the water pressure. I however made enquirers about a power shower from a supplier and he categorically told me all the power showers do not have internal pumps. Where did you get yours by the way? |
As in ![]() I'm not understanding you!! Seriously, we're allowed to appreciate na! |
Earthing pit located on site. However I notice that on touching the body of the AC condenser units, electrical shocks are usually received. What should be the problem and what is the solution? Thanks. |
Wow! This is massive! Never thought fuel dispensing pumps were such energy guzzlers! At almost half a megawatt-hour production daily, I'm almost tempted to say this is more energy than they need.... And that it would be almost impossible to recoup the cost for this, from just fuel sale. That's some 60-70M there! Still, very impressive. |
May I ask how you arrived at 1,000w solar panels, sufficient to charge the 9600Wh battery bank? (Note taken of the other factors added on top of the 1,000w) |
mcci:I'm sorry, but I do not agree with your advice above. I do not think 1,200W in panels will be able to charge the batteries, irrespective of whether it's loaded or not. Gurus.. @ilovethesun, @bigrovar, @pranil etc.... Above for your advice |
If you have up to X + y in your account, you can purchase different tenors. If however you have just enough to cover either of X and y, she is right to ask you to confirm your instruction. |
@ilovethesun I thank you very much for the diagrams sent. I appreciate it and know it will help some other folks reading either now, or in future. Thanks. |
I have used a QS on a small build before and frankly, not sure I would do same for similar builds. I found a lot of the quantities grossly exaggerated and my understanding was that there were 'standards' based on a guide, which dictates the final quantities in the CORES. I didn't understand why we should allow for say X(can't remember the actual figure now) percent waste based on Nigerian factors. The contractor of course took advantage of this for his manpower/labour estimates......I.e. Based on the stated volumes/surface area. If I choose to do this again, I will probably have 2 versions to cater better for labour rates based on quantities listed. |
iLoveTheSun:@ilovethesun Thanks! But will I be able to charge the batteries from both grid(PHCN/Gen) and my solar panels at the same time? Or is it only an hybrid inverter that has the capability to make this happen? Thanks. |
@House If I have a standalone inverter(which has an inbuilt charger), plus a separate Charge controller, will it be possible for my batteries to get charged from both the PV array and the grid (if PHCN is available) simultanoesly? I'm weighing the pros of an hybrid inverter. But if I can achieve same with say like Dunka's setup, then the hybrid doesn't have any edge. Well, apart from the fact that it costs a lot more to have the standalone systems. Your kind advice pls. |
If you move/ask those who know, there are standard rates/units for everything. Bricklayer will do 70/80 blocks per day and earn X Naira and he needs 2 helpers. Or something like that. Welder does one ton of iron rod at X amount. Casters will charge X amount per cubic meter or more easily per Y amount of cement bags. Now, transportation and maybe temp. Accommodation can then be added in plus maybe a daily stipend for upkeep. These are variables dependent on location. Some areas may also have levies that need to be paid which may increase the daily rate. This should be possible, no? People usually don't like revealing these though. |
In light of recent statements and to steer the conversation in a different direction, I think some of what we lack generally is like a builders directory or standard rates that are applicable for services. I do not believe that most of the people based in diaspora, especially who have worked/work by the hour would be against paying people their dues. The issue is, what is this standard pay? How do I know when I am paying a premium, or when someone is cheating me? To be clear, it's fair for everyone to put a premium on their rates and say this is what I am offering extra that you cannot get by paying Mr. A, X amount. Until such a time, people will have to wander in the dark, negotiate and perhaps give the impression that they're trying to score a cheap deal. So, is it possible to have a directory of rates? It can be updated per time as required. |
