I have a major problem with the religion aspect more than anything else. This is because Nigerians by nature are hypocrites as Jesus called the Pharisees whether "Christendom" (exemption JW/True Christians)or Muslims. The truth be told, some will use Mal 3:10 to rob their congregants blind, ending up using their tithe to buy private jets, set up enterprises like universities etc which has no connotation to Bible teachings nor do their pastors care about the morals, Biblical wisdom/knowledge of their congregant John 3:17. The Muslims on the other hand will want to have you believe they have a religion of Peace and they practice the opposite, they talk of immoralities and undermine women with vails as if only women causes immoralities (their men and women are worst morally than ordinary secular individuals). They preach no education but they want the best the western education has provided in democracy and all. Let everyone do their religious things in private without coming out with it to "disturb others with their hypocrisy as it were". Let the political matter be done without religious injection as they are two unrelated matter when it comes to true GODLINESS learn from JW and see what this really means. Politic In itself is a necessary evil and addition of religion is a bad combination as we see in Nigeria. Nigerian leaders take note!

Former military president Ibrahim Babangida says since 1999, the country’s political parties have lacked “distinct ideologies”.

In a statement on Monday to commemorate Democracy Day, Babangida called for a unique two-party structure which he said would “promote and protect the nation’s democratic institutions”.

“Our political parties since May 29, 1999 have no distinct ideologies with internal squabbles and cross carpeting that is not healthy to our democracy. We must also appreciate the strength and value of our diversity, with due understanding and recognition of the interests of various ethnic nationalities in our hearts,” the statement read.

“Nigeria has had its share of conflicts and political instability, just like many other nations and states, but we have always survived against all odds.

“Our journey to nationhood and democracy from 1960 to date has been characterised by upheavals and turbulences, yet we must cherish our commitment to remain a united country, in brotherhood and respect for one another.

“We must also appreciate the strength and value of our diversity, with due understanding and recognition of the interests of various ethnic nationalities in our heart.”

He said the role of the military in nation-building should not be forgotten.

“In whatever circumstance we find ourselves, we must continue to exercise democratic tenants, which promote freedom and respect of one another,” it read.

The former military president expressed hope that the 2019 election would further consolidate on democratic governance, freedom and security.

PoliticsRe: ACF Warns IPOB Against Undermining National Unity by baysol: 9:52am On May 29, 2018
Mrakeli:
The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) Monday said the threat by the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) to declare May 30 as ‘a sit-at-home day’ was destructive and a threat to national cohesion.
In a statement, the forum urged governors and elders from the South-east region to call their wards to order, stressing that such action is capable of causing chaos in the country.

The statement signed by the spokesman of the forum, Muhammad Ibrahim, recalled that the sit-at-home order last year by the IPOB did not only infringe on the liberty and rights of innocent and law-abiding citizens residing in the South-east, but was also hijacked by hoodlums who used the opportunity to unleash terror and mayhem on non indigenes.

“It would be recalled that the sit-at-home order of last year by IPOB did not only infringe on the liberty and rights of innocent and law abiding citizens residing in the South-east zone of Nigeria, it was also hijacked by hoodlums who unleashed terror on non-indigenes. We therefore cannot afford a repeat of such incidence.

“Given the benefit of hindsight, ACF therefore, calls on the South-east governors to prevail on their citizens to ignore such acts that seek to affect our sense of oneness and could also affect the economy and political stability of not only in the South-east but of Nigeria as a whole,” the statement said.

The forum urged members of IPOB to listen to the wise counsel of their elders and elected political representatives at both the national and state assemblies and adopt due democratic process.
“Our present democratic structure provides sufficient avenue for people to give voice to their aspirations and vent their concerns. Nigerians should therefore avail themselves to this opportunity rather than seek to heat up the polity.

“ACF also calls on the security agencies to put in adequate measures that will ensure the safety of all citizens in every part of country…
“Our faith in one indivisible Nigeria despite our moments of national instability and challenges has continued to be reaffirmed by individuals and groups at different fora.

“We have also demonstrated it in words and deeds in our political sojourn. We cannot therefore jettison our collective sacrifice for primordial sentiments that would do no one any good,” the ACF said.

The forum said further that Nigeria, like all developing nations, has challenges which can be overcome through collective hard work and due democratic process, stressing that intimidation and threats are not viable means that give voice to people’s aspiration as it is unnecessary and unhelpful.

IPOB had in a statement by its
Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, directed people of the South-east to sit at home on May 30 in remembrance of the Biafra struggle, victims of Fulani herdsmen, Boko Haram violence and those who died in the hands of security agencies in Nigeria over the years.

nairavsdollars:
The Minister of Mines and Steel Development and Governorship Aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Kayode Fayemi, has denied media reports that he stormed out of a meeting of the party’s South West leaders with Ekiti State governorship aspirants in Abuja on Tuesday.
The Minister said in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday that contrary to misleading media reports and social media posts purporting that he walked out of the meeting, he only left the venue, like other attendees, at the end of the meeting.

The Minister in the statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yinka Oyebode, said there was no basis for him to storm out of the meeting which was called by the leaders to proffer way forward for the party, in the face of the rescheduled Ekiti governorship primary.

The Minister, however said he could not make the second part of the meeting when it reconvened later in the evening, having earlier taken permission from the leaders to attend another meeting.
“It is thus worrisome and highly embarrassing reading reports of purported ‘walk out’ on our leaders when nothing like that actually took place.

“We implore well-meaning members of the society and members of our great party to disregard the misleading reports.” The statement added.

I'm sorry for the way yorubas are leaving in denial burying their head in the sand of time. Mine be say if they don't fight it now as the imam has said it will be more painful tomorrow as tomorrow will be too late. North does not mean well for Nigeria from day one and amid of all this adding a vagrant Islamic religion can only exacerbate already cumbersome situation. All the cry of murder in Nigeria fell on deaf ears but a truth sayer who murdered no one was swiftly arrested. Buhari's want murderers to be arrested not shot at sight only to be released later to continue where they stopped. The unauthorised planes buhari bought is towards a northern agenda which is not complete yet but his coming. Buhari's evil is slowly forming shape while his southern counterparts are only after posts come 2019. Boko haram is a reserved army that will be unleashed soon at the time appointed to capture democracy. Don't be fooled yorubas are slowly playing themselves into this evil doers hands by ignorance. The hausa /fulani pretending to be taking refuge in yoruba land are there on an evil mission. Even if they cannot succeed in Jesus name, Yorubas ema laju sile kii talubon ko woo. Wise up and form odua military wing now and send northerners home. This is not wickedness but doing the needful. Be brave my people I know you are not cowards. My five cents.

EducationRe: Sex For Marks: OAU Lecturers Demand Probe Of Professor by baysol: 10:00am On Apr 11, 2018
6Ebisco:
The Chairman, Congress of University Academics at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Dr Niyi Sumonu, has spoken on the case involving a a professor at the university, Richard Akindele, accused of requesting for sex from a female student in order to raise her scores.

Professor Akindele was on Monday fingered in sex allegations after leaked conversation between him and the student emerged online.

In the said phone conversation, the professor could be heard asking the student to have sex with him five times to upgrade her scored from 33 to a pass mark.

Reacting, Sumonu asked the university to investigate the matter.

He said, “If it is established that this is true, the person, who perpetrated that does not belong to the academic environment. We are supposed to mould the lives of the students – males and females.”

Also Reacting , the immediate past Deputy Coordinator of NANS in the South West, Mr. Saheed Afolabi, called for a thorough investigation into the matter.

He said, “This is becoming too rampant these days and I want the management of the OAU to investigate this. Although we are still making efforts to know the female student, this should not be swept under the carpet.”

The Public Relations Officer of OAU, Mr. Abiodun Olanrewaju, had earlier stated that the university would set up a committee to ascertain the veracity of the telephone conversation as the matter was a serious one.

Olanrewaju was quoted as saying“We have listened to the audio and we cannot conclude on it now because this is the age of ICT; anything can happen. The university has a way of dealing with such.

“First and foremost, we will set up a committee to determine the veracity or otherwise of the conversation to establish authenticity of the characters involved. If those involved happen to be our lecturer and student as it is portrayed, the university has a machinery of dealing with such.

“Let me make it clear, OAU has zero tolerance for sexual intimidation, sexual harassment and sexual coercion. So, we will not accept it from staff to students; from the workers; from superiors to subordinates and even from students to students.”
