If you are pondering on where to go this festive season or your next holiday, I would recommend you take a visit to admire the beauty of nature. This my second time of visiting this place and to my surprise I had a totally new experience of the place. The water was so white that mere looking at it for long one can assume to be blind for some seconds as it makes you dizzy as you stare at the magnificent falls. The last time I was here was during the dry season and the view was not as beautiful as during the rainy season, it was like rain falling heavily non stop with very smooth and consistent rythm.

The Olumirin waterfall is a seven step waterfall located at Oriade local government in Osun state, Nigeria which is 2km from the main town Erin Ijesha. Interestingly each step of the waterfall has a flowing fountain which to me gives it it's unique nature. Based on some myth by the people of Erin-Ijesa, they believe that there is a big pot located at the utmost top of the cliff where the waterfalls flows from.  Also the falls was said to be discovered by a powerful woman called Akinla a grand - daughter of Oduduwa who founded the Erin-Ijesha town. Legends has it that when the fall was first discovered it had the appearance of a mysterious figure and was believed to be a very tall and huge living spirit whose height reached the heavens and  has several mouths  from which the water gushed out.

The place is not so developed as the entrance looks somehow deserted and before you get to the falls is not Interesting to me at least. And I really think Osun state government is not taking the place that serious as it meant to be a very good tourist centre and source of revenue for the state. The entrance fee was 500naira for adult and 300naira for kids, and things around there are just a little bit above the normal price especially when they know you are a visitor. Ordinary 30naira shower cap those very light one is 100naira and one funny looking bottle water for 100naira too.

Another interesting part is the mountain climbing and a good exercise platform. If you are looking for a good experience of mountaineering then you should not just stop at the 2nd floor as most people that visit do but proceed further to at least the 4th floor. The first time I was here I got to the 7th floor and didn't even get much time to have fun at the falls as we were eager to get to the last floor in time. To get to the last floor takes lot of determination and strength as it's more than an hour journey and the sun on the mountain might be scorching, I remember having to massage my legs for like 3days after. So this 2nd time I just decided to  chill at the water and enjoy it to the maximum, I must say the water was very cool and refreshing and keeps one wondering about the wonders of nature. 

At the 7th floor is a little settlement not even up to a village of mud houses, though they have an electric  pole and they had light when we visited. The place is called Abake and the residents referred it to " Ilu Aba-ke " in youruba which means the village on the  top ". There was a little river where the children washed and some were playing, speaking to some of them they quite understand English as they made us know they go to school down the cliff towards " Effon Alaaye " local government in Ekiti state. Sadly there is basically no infrastructure in this place not even a little clinic. They major in farming and thereafter go to nearby villages to sell their produce.

Also to spice up your fun there is an old man who plays the talking drum, I recognized him from the last time I was here about 2years ago. He plays the instrument with so much enthusiasm and at the end you will just have to tip him generously after he must have whine you to the last (lol).

Conclusively I had a great time and would visit again if I have the chance.

Over dependent on fossil fuel such as petroleum is one major problem and cause of the economy breakdown we have in our country Nigeria today. While other countries are moving to the use of biodiesel fuel which is of more benefit to the environment at large and ecosystem as it supports the greenhouse effect theory which is a global issue. We are still over-dependent on fossils fuels and petroleum. The use of biodiesel fuel is well encouraged in developed countries today and even developing countries as they have shift interest from the importation of foreign fuel and now rely mainly on biofuel which has less cost and easier to process. A country like Nigeria where the recession is hitting badly and the common means of livelihood seems not to do much again we need to start thinking of other major sources of income for the average man and the economy at large. The history of use of biodiesel fuel dated as far back as 1853 by a German Engineer named Patrick Duffy, four decades before the first diesel engine became functional, where vegetable oil was converted to fuel to run a single 10 ft (3.0 m) iron cylinder with a flywheel at its base in Augsburg, Germany, on 10 August 1893 running on nothing but peanut oil particularly.



Biodiesel refers to a vegetable oil typically made by chemically reacting lipids like vegetable oil or soybean oil. Biofuels burn cleaner than fossil fuels, releasing fewer pollutants and greenhouse gasses, such as carbon dioxide, into the atmosphere. They are sustainable, and energy companies often mix biofuels with gasoline for use. In other words, unlike oil, coal or natural gas, biofuels won't run out.
Biofuels fall into two main categories: bio-alcohol and biodiesel. To create biodiesel, refineries use the oil already found in crops such as soybeans, Jatropha etc. These vegetable oils are treated with alcohol and turned into biofuel.


Advantage Of Biofuel Over Fossil Fuel :
* Biodiesel is a renewable energy source, unlike other petroleum products that will vanish in years to come. Since it is made from animal and vegetable fat, it can be produced on demand and also causes less pollution than petroleum diesel.
*While fossil fuels when burnt release greenhouse gasses like carbon dioxide in the atmosphere that raises the temperature and causes global warming, biofuels protect the environment from further heating up. Experts believe that using biodiesel instead of petroleum diesel can reduce greenhouse gasses up to 78%.

* With locally produced biofuels, a country can reduce their dependency on fossil fuels. This will save billions by reducing their usage and dependency on fossil fuel.

* Air pollution cause more deaths and diseases than any other form of pollution. Pollutants from gasoline engines when released in the air, form smog can make thousands of people sick every year. Biodiesel produces less toxic pollutants than other petroleum products.

USES ;
* Railway Cooperation.
it can be used as a source of fuel for train operating companies.

*Aviation.
A test flight has been performed by a Czech jet aircraft completely powered on biodiesel. On November 7, 2011, United Airlines flew the world's first commercial aviation flight on a microbial-derived biofuel.

*Domestic Use.
Biodiesel can also be used as a heating fuel in domestic and commercial boilers and as cooking gas.

* Generator Use.
In 2001, UC Riverside installed a 6-megawatt backup power system that is entirely fueled by biodiesel. Backup diesel-fueled generators allow companies to avoid damaging blackouts of critical operations at the expense of high pollution and emission rates.

* Transportation.
It can be used to fuel vehicles and trucks with less pollutants.

Sources of Biodiesel ; It is gotten mainly from plants such as
* Corn.
* Rapeseed or Canola.
* Palm oil.
* Sugarcane.
* Sunflower.
* Cottonseed.
*Soybean.
*Jatropha Seed.

Particularly the plant Jatropha Seed. It is of more importance than the other sources because it is not edible by neither humans nor animals and can't compete as food in the market such as the palm oil or soybean. It is drought resistant and can withstand dry conditions for a long time period. It can be cultivated in large quantity, and helps to fertilize even degraded and abandoned farmlands. This plant has 40yrs of continuous harvesting. Jatropha is a species of a flowering plant in the spurge family, Euphorbiaceae. It is cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions around the world, becoming naturalized in some areas. The seeds when crushed contain 27-40% oil that can be processed to produce a high-quality biodiesel fuel, usable in a standard diesel engine. While the residue can also be used as biomass feedstock to power electricity plants and also used as fertilizer. This seed is a very good and rich source of biofuel and when cultivated and processed can be used to a very large extent.


In a country as Nigeria, only a few people are interested in biodiesel production, while the few involved in the production now are doing quite a great investment because in years to come the petrol will run out and lose its value. So we have to move to using biodiesel fuel mainly. Such businesses as this are what is needed to boost the economy and give the average Nigeria a reliable and honest source of livelihood. If we have reliable farmers that can or that are playing this seeds it can be cultivated on a large scale and delivered to companies or individuals who are into the production of biodiesel fuel.

Different cultures around the world have either a myth, ritual or cultural practices surrounding the disposal of the placenta. Some of these rites are still practiced till these day while some have been stoped.

The placenta is a vascular organ that develops within the uterus during pregnancy. Attached by the umbilical cord to the baby, the placenta discharges shortly after birth; thus, it is often called the afterbirth. Since it is the structure through which the fetus receives nourishment, many cultures consider it rich in nutrients and an extra
ordinary phenomenon.

Among the yorubas the burying of a baby’s placenta is a tradition that is carried out mostly by the father or in his absence by a member of his family or anybody the wife chooses and trust to do it in the absence of her husband.

The Yorubas called it “ibi”, which literally means the world is a vicissitude of the “good, the bad and the ugly" so the baby is the good and the placenta is the bad. So good one which is the baby is taken home, while the bad which is the placenta is burried because it is believed we cannot take something that is bad home. This tradition has been right from time and has been emulated over the years.

In some cases the placenta might refuse to come out so there are traditional ways of forcing it out of the womb. One of the ways according to culture is to put a ladle in a hot water, pour palm oil on it and place it on the tongue of the woman. The heat that is produced from the oil will push out the placenta after she is asked to push. While in a severe case it can be called out of the womb using incantation.

While among the Igbo people of Nigeria, for instance, the mother chooses a place at the foot of a young tree, the more fruitful, the better. The chosen palm tree, banana, breadfruit, or plantain tree will become the child’s tree, and Igbo beliefs hold that it will then give as many fruits as the child has successes throughout his life. It is also a way to bind the child to the earth, and to that special place in his community.

Some other superstitious beliefs are attached to the placenta such as if a dogs digs up the placenta of a child where it is buried such child will become promiscuous for the rest of its life. While some others belief that a baby must not see its own placenta as it is a taboo. Others have attached so much spirituality to it that if your enemy see or knows where one's placenta is being buried he can do evil to it and render the person useless.

Remember the pretty Lady and mom by name Andrea Grant who her lovely baby bump pictures last month to inspire other burnt survivors who might be thinking they got no hope or no chances of living again. Few days ago she welcomed a bouncing baby boy by name Jackson. She shared her birth story on her Instagram and also cute photos of the newborn.

She wrote:

” when they tell you that you might be ready to push and you have not gotten your epidural …. I wanted my epidural from jump BUT being that I was induced I had to endure contractions from the induction medicine before I received the epidural to make sure I was in active labor ….while having consistent contractions 1 to 2 mins apart MY WATER BROKE …

After that I felt like I had to push so the nurse checked me and told me it MIGHT “here my mommy on the video saying MIGHT MIGHT ” might be ready to have him NOOOOOO MAM YOU BETTER GO GET MY EPIDURAL my doctor came in I was only 5 cm but his head was showing and i would be jumping to 10 FAST anyway I was able to get my epidural ”

in a particular course i decided not to cram make i just use general knowledge@ the end of the day i checked my profile mehn i saw 2...i learnt my lesson.
