- Release Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally and demilitarize the south east.

This your long missive was used to masquerade your Ibo supremacist/IPOB/Obidients agenda which can be summed up in the two bolded points above.....

I guess for you, Tinubu is on the right track of destroying the country and you’re one of those that will benefit from it’s demise…. Shame on you…. Sometimes I wonder if some of the people commenting on this website are not living in Nigeria and seeing what Nigerians are going through….. this Nairaland platform has so many selfish tribalistic people as members it’s disturbing….

Salewa97:

The same people that can't even agree on what to protest about? Tinubu is on the right track; they should rather focus on supporting the government to improve the situation instead of causing unnecessary chaos. Let's give him a chance to deliver!

No propaganda can stop what is coming…. It is either you’re ignorant of past events or you’re a paid government agent saddled with the task of derailing threads on Nairaland….

Tinubu's government is still finding its feet. Protests won't change the resolve of a leader determined to steer Nigeria forward. Let’s channel that energy into productive dialogue instead of empty noise.
PoliticsA Prognosis Of August Nationwide Protest Against Tinubu’s Bad Government by Bebigiby1(op):
Throughout Jonathan’s term as president from 2010 to 29 May 2015, Tinubu enjoyed protesting, disparaging and instigating Nigerians against his government, this is why on the aftermath of the famous 2012 fuel subsidy removal, Tinubu made a frantic post on Twitter encouraging protesters to shut down the country, he said…

“Police. Do not attack protesters. Your children are involved. Your lives are involved. You children’s future lie here”

Tinubu and some other prominent politicians like Buhari eventually staged a nationwide protest against Jonathan’s government on fuel subsidy removal.

Again in 2014, pained by the government move to checkmate their anti-government propaganda during the campaign, Tinubu made another post on Twitter demonizing the government, he said….

“Rather than fight terrorists the govt targets opposition. D equipment procured to track & fight BH is now being deployed against oppositn”

Tinubu and his APC allies went on to sponsor several undemocratic campaigns against Jonathan’s government which eventually led to the defeat of the incumbent president in the famous 2015 presidential election. A betrayed Jonathan cried out at the heat of political attacks as if making a prophetic statement said….

“I am the most abused and insulted President in the world but when I leave office, you will all remember me for the total ‘freedom’ you enjoyed under me.”

Since becoming president in 2023, Tinubu has shown that he has no intentions of being a considerate, empathetic leader in a country filled with millions of Nigerians who have been told to endure the ‘tough decisions’ of his government. In barely five months of being in office, he showed how tone-deaf he is to the realities of a debt-ridden, broke Nigeria as well as the hardships millions of Nigerians endure daily as his leadership has so far failed to improve the quality of life for ordinary Nigerians, or at least stop making things worse.

Tinubu continues living and still aspires to live in absolute luxury, seeking to rub opulence in the face of Nigerians while they are asked to endure and sacrifice for the country. When he announced the removal of petrol subsidies, it was a blow to virtually all Nigerians as the subsidies were for many people, the only way they ‘felt an impact of government’. Tinubu claimed the fuel subsidy was a wasteful program that only benefited a few cabal, he promised (lied) Nigerians that the fund would be saved and deployed to other critical areas of the economy. Sadly, his actions and wasteful spending 1 year into office, makes it clear that people were wrong to have believed him. The long-suffering Nigerians who are battling all-time-high inflation, yet worsening purchasing power did not think these ‘savings’ would be converted to purchase of luxury vehicles for the president (himself), his wife, lawmakers and apparently, anyone in the corridors of power that feels like getting any obscenely expensive new toy.

Tinubu’s first budget that was submitted to the national assembly, a supplementary one nonetheless, showed that over N28 billion was allocated to furnishing his office, including the purchase of vehicles for his wife worth over N1.5 billion. Since the Nigerian constitution has no provision for the office of the first lady, the president effectively had lawmakers approve an illegal purchase of luxury vehicles for his wife.

Speaking of his wife, Oluremi Tinubu, a former Senator, while speaking at a church service in Abuja famously claimed that their family is so wealthy they didn’t need Nigeria’s money. Here is what she said below.

“Nigeria’s wealth is the commonwealth of all. It belongs to everyone. God has blessed my family. We don’t need the wealth of Nigeria to survive but to do the right thing. And I promise you on this altar, that with your help, with the help of God, we will set this nation on the right path.”

Remi Tinubu’s claim that the family is so wealthy and doesn’t need Nigeria’s money, is either audio money, as a Nigerian singer once coined, or the family is hopelessly stricken with greed. That Tinubu is insensitive and lacks empathy is already settled, but the greed and callous scrambling to impoverish the country through predatory borrowing and wasteful spending spree is wicked and shameful.

Tinubu’s family may not need Nigeria’s money to survive as Remi Tinubu claimed, but clearly, it needs all the perks and luxuries that Nigeria can offer, even if these come at great cost to the country’s struggling treasury. It is glaring that Tinubu, members of this government and the hangers-on leeching away at the commonwealth do not care.

It was the same Tinubu, whose entourage that attended the UN General Assembly in New York spent about over N400 million on hotels bills. The money was sourced by raiding an account meant for wheat grain levies. It was akin to raiding a child’s piggybank to satisfy the cravings of an addict parent.

While some of Tinubu’s supporters are bent on pushing tribal hateful propaganda and sowing seed of division among Nigerians, the last few months have been terrible for Nigerians as prices of food and services continue to rise. It is unfortunate that Tinubu is more concerned about living large and enjoying every privilege the presidency has to offer. Not a single care about making sacrifices to match the sufferings of the people he claimed elected him to serve. Believing that his government will change means being naive and ignorant of the systemic corruption going on within his government. As many Nigerians have decided to protest, Nigerians must be clear on their demands and be ready to push till it is actualized. I’ve always maintained that any protest that doesn’t demand for an end to this shameful evil APC government is a futile effort because even if you give Tinubu 50 years, Nigeria’s economy will still not get better, Tinubu and the greedy law makers cares only about their selfish agenda of excessive borrowing and luxurious spending, there is no point sugarcoating as it is simply a government of propaganda and lies, Nigeria’s economy will only get worse over the terrible policies and systemic looting by these politicians.

Finally, as the nationwide protest is set to commence on 1st of August, here is a list of demands that I think should be made by Nigerians based on order of importance….

- Remove Tinubu as president either through willful resignation or forced impeachment, followed by a total dissolution of the current government and a caretaker interim government setup with a mandate of 2 years to implement the points listed below.

- Stabilize the economy by implementing immediate reversal of fuel subsidy removal and floating of the Naira policies. Establish corrupt free fuel subsidy scheme, reverse sale of NNPC, sack current NNPC management and revive one national refinery (Port Harcourt refinery) within 5 months period.

- Pay Nigerian workers a minimum wage that reflects economic realities to boost Nigerians purchasing power and revitalize the economy.

- Overhaul the 1999 constitution or replace it with a people-backed constitution through a sovereign national conference followed by a national referendum

- Restructure Nigeria political landscape to accommodate Nigeria’s diversity, resource control, decentralization of constitutional powers and regional development

- Scrap the senate arm of the Nigerian legislative system and make legislative job a part-time endeavor

- Invest heavily in education and give Nigerian students grants, not loans. Pursue aggressively free and compulsory education for children across Nigeria

- Release Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally and demilitarize the south east. Release unconditionally all Endsars and human rights activists political detainees

- Sack all current military and security officials benefiting from widespread insecurity and terrorism across Nigeria

- Sack all current heads of the anti-graft agencies, empower the anti-graft agencies to investigate and prosecute corrupt judges that have denied and continue to deny Nigerians access to justice

- Probe past and present Nigerian leaders over looting that they supervised while in power, recover their loots and deposit it in special account to be used to fund education, healthcare and infrastructure

- Sack current INEC chairman, reconstitute the Nigerian electoral body INEC to remove corrupt individuals and partisan backed operatives appointed to manipulate elections. Establish diaspora voting rights for Nigerians outside the country

Once the electoral reforms and all other reforms listed above are done by the interim government within 2 years, a free and fair election should be conducted to usher in a new Nigeria founded on the basis of justice, equity and fairness.

Nigerians must protest for the right reasons and this is what I believe we should protest and agitate for. This is what must be done now to salvage the country and put it on the path of greatness. One thing that we must all learn from Tinubu’s government and APC as a party is that propaganda doesn’t benefit anyone, it may hold sway for sometime but eventually the people will see it for what it is, a simple lie told to keep the people subdued and docile while they plunder the nation’s treasury. The price for a bag of rice is edging towards N100,000, I hope many Nigerians have eventually seen through the deceptions of this government and are ready to end the propaganda once and for all….
PoliticsRe: How Tinubu Plans To Arrest Peter Obi Over Nationwide Protest by Bebigiby1(op):
What a lousy comment, if a few igbo people made the statement about not joining the protest how does that translate to all “Igbos claimed that they will not join the protest”, using the same analogy you can also say that all Yorubas in the south western region are against any protest by Igbos in south western states just because few tribalistic Yoruba people who are members of this online forum chose to push that narrative…. Your comment reeks of tribalism and hateful propaganda…. It is unfortunate that there are some Nigerians that reason this way even after claiming to be educated, it is a shame…. If a large number Nigerians decide to protest against bad government policies, is this not the right thing to do in the face of terrible economic conditions Nigerians are facing? You should be ashamed of yourself for the rubbish comment you made over the plight of the masses…..

confusedlady:
But I thought Ibos claimed that they are not affected by the economy? I thought Ibos insisted they will not be a part of any protest and that Tinubu should continue his economic policies into a second term?
I hope this your protest is not another ploy to attack and destroy monuments and buildings in Lagos state because it will be resisted!
Protest is an enshrined right in the constitution but wanton destruction of property and arson are criminal offences.
Please be warned. Start your protest in Aba,Enugu,Onitsha and Okija shrine.

I did not want to reply you but had to due to misinformation you’re peddling by trying to black mail people in the south western region. Let’s be clear, Tinubu is not a democratic president as he did not win the mandate of majority of the people…. Also protest is a constitutional right of every Nigerians…. There is nothing that can change the fact that the government is bad and the people are fed up with propaganda…. Tinubu should resign if he doesn’t want to be disgraced out of office…. You can’t give what you don’t have….

Are you people listening to yourself. So those are the motives you want to do a destructive protest?

When the SW had issue with GEJ's government, we restricted our subsidy protest to our region without forcing others. Let same be done this time around.

South West people are not interested in any protest, let those who want to protest should restrict it to their regions. Simple as Abc
PoliticsRe: How Tinubu Plans To Arrest Peter Obi Over Nationwide Protest by Bebigiby1(op):
Many Nigerians may be hesitant and naive but they are not stupid.

Tinubu has failed and his government is incompetent filled with his tribes men, he is incapable and has refused to reverse his wrong policies that led to the terrible state of the economy, there is no doubt that now that it has become unbearable, the people have the authority to call for the resignation of Tinubu and even fire all National Assembly members, who are inseparable from him, before Nigeria’s economy collapse totally.

In saner climes, an incompetent president or public officer holder is always removed before the end of his term to prevent him from destroying the country beyond redemption. Tinubu is not bigger than Nigeria. He was not actually elected by majority of the people in the first place. He is his own problems. He should not expect others to bear his baggage with him.

Tinubu Aide Says Peter Obi Will Be Responsible While Northerners Insist Protest Must Hold

This protest is now inevitable…. Propaganda will not save Tinubu this time around…. You can read the media report below.

“The Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR), has raised the alarm over a plot to frame its principal and Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, to pave the way for his arrest.

The POMR, in a statement in Abuja, on Saturday said its attention was drawn to what it described as “the wild, wicked and baseless allegations” by one of the Presidential Spokespersons, Bayo Onanuga accusing Obi of being the mastermind of a planned protest in the country.

Onanuga even went a step further to say Obi should be held responsible for any mayhem in the protest.

The POMR in a statement signed by Dr. Tanko Yunusa, said it “can report from good and reliable authority that these unsubstantiated allegations are being orchestrated to arrest Obi, limit his freedom and association and stop his propagation for good governance which they find injurious to their lavish lifestyle.”

It further said, “Peter Obi by his mien in and out of political office has not shown or been associated with violence even in the most obvious provocations.

“He has always shown even during the electioneering that he is issue-driven as he carries on without calling anybody’s name.
POMR is also aware that multiple attack dogs have been hired and strategically deployed to ensure that Obi does not enjoy the ear of the Nigerian populace who are keen on hearing his voice on issues.

“These spin doctors and hirelings, to justify their pay, indulge in all kinds of falsehood ostensibly to distract Obi and confuse Nigerians who already see Obi as a suiting balm in the current turbulent political and economic environment.

“All the problems real and imagined created by their insensitivity and lavish lifestyle they have curiously tried to link to Obi.

“Notable challenges of the administration which are a consequence of their actions and inactions like fuel subsidy fallouts, growing poverty in the land, inflation, nepotism and unresolved historical conflicts among others they blame all on Obi.

“POMR, therefore, wish to urge Nigerians to ignore the Presidency’s cheap blackmail as Obi and the Obidient family all over the country and in the diaspora remain resolute in their search for a new Nigeria that is possible and would not be cowed or be made to lose focus.”

In my opinion I think Labour leaders got a juicy offer from Tinubu, if they didn’t compromise then it shows that these Labour leaders lack capacity to confront a cunning government like the one in power…. What they should’ve demanded for was for government to cut cost of governance and reverse policies that led to the terrible state of Nigeria’s economy…. They should’ve demanded for reversal of fuel subsidy removal and reversal of floating the Naira….. Tinubu and his corrupt cronies came into power to enrich themselves at the detriment of Nigerians that’s why immediately he became president, they intentionally deceived Nigerians that they can’t pay subsidies…. They sabotaged the economy to free up funds to loot…. Look at trillions of naira borrowed by Tinubu within the last 12 months…. No impact on the economy…. No transparency as to how these funds are been spent…. Tinubu and his government deceived Nigerians that removing subsidy was the best option, that it will free up funds to grow the economy…. But today things are worse than they met it…. NLC/TUC leadership should resign if they don’t know how to engage strategically with the government as millions of Nigerians workers can’t pay their bills anymore…. NLC should’ve shut down the country the day Tinubu announced fuel subsidy removal and floating of the Naira without any plans on how to manage it…. Ajaero and co failed Nigerians…. Nigerians and workers situation have been compounded by this new unrealistic N70,000 minimum wage, the best they can do now is to resign and allow competent hands to take over the affairs of the union….

If you want to know what really transpired during the negotiations that produced N70,000 as minimum wage, just look at the image below, after all noise and threats by NLC a N70,000 minimum is simply unacceptable, it is a betrayal, why did these labour leaders deceive Nigerian workers by dragging the issue meanwhile knowing fully well that their proposed N250,000 minimum wage was a farce…. This new minimum wage will only make the situation worse for Nigerian workers as there is no guarantee that it will be reviewed even in the next 5 years….

Your FAAC allocation graph is spot on but you know that the fundamental reason why even with huge allocations Nigeria is still not progressing is because of a faulty foundation, the current system of government we are practicing doesn’t promote our tribal and regional interests as a people. Many Nigerians especially those in the north are too tribalistic and religious to accept those from other regions…. Nigerians lack unity to benefit from the current centralized system of government we are running…. This is why corrupt politicians take advantage of this to plunder the nation’s wealth…. They know that the unity is not there to hold them accountable and the system promotes incompetence…..there is need decentralize the system of governance to empower states and regions especially on the expect of resource control… this is why I included restructuring as part of the protest agenda….

The last post I made here was about Tinubu’s government GMO maize dangerous policy, this post was deleted for no reason and my account suspended. I do not intend to go into details regarding the sad level of bias practices orchestrated by some Nairaland mods as I am certain that many other users are aware of this. In order not to digress further let me go straight to the main reason for making this post.

We are now more than a year into Tinubu’s government and nothing has improved as far as the economy is concerned. It is glaring to any reasonable person that Tinubu’s government has nothing good to offer Nigerians…. In my opinion, what is happening now could’ve been avoided if Nigerians had bigoted the last election in mass and demanded for a total overhaul of our constitution, total restructuring of the country’s political landscape to decentralize power to regions and states…. This was my submission before the election and I still stand by it…. Nigeria can not move forward in it’s current form due to inherent tribalist sentiments and hateful religious bigotry among Nigerians…. We are wasting lives pretending to be united when we are not….

Another way Nigerians could’ve avoided the pathetic situation they are facing today was to protest immediately after the corrupt INEC announced the 2023 presidential election results, Nigerians could’ve rejected Tinubu totally in a massive protest then but unfortunately failed to defend their votes. Today, Nigeria’s economy is on the brink of collapse as prices of food and services continue to rise unabated, insecurity on the rise as unemployment increases due to many businesses shutting down and leaving the country. No one is spared from the consequences of Mahmoud’s fraudulent election and Tinubu’s incompetent government. The question now is what will Nigerians do? As it stand Nigeria’s economy may not survive the continuous plundering, excessive borrowing and excessive spending by Tinubu and his corrupt allies in the National Assembly. It is not too late today to reverse the mistake of 2023 presidential election….. I hope Nigerians will come together and demand for an end to this evil government before it is too late….
