Thecannylady: They responded to my mail and asked me to fill in some details including my preferred date. They stated that the next earliest date is January 14. Can I go ahead and make payments? Or do I need to get a confirmation from them? I think it’s best to make payment during your appointment. Please confirm from them tho. |

Was it in Lagos? Asakestark: Hello House,
Thank you to all the contributors for the advice and tips.
I learnt a lot from the platform and thought to give my experience at my appointment today.
The VO experience of others helped me to prepare in advance for mine, so here goes:
BTW I applied for a medical visa and my husband a tourist visa, both first time applicants.
VO: Good morning US: Morning VO: Why are you visiting the US? HB: For the birth of our first child VO: How long do you plan to stay in the US? HB: 4 weeks and my wife about 11 weeks VO: What do you do ? HB: Answers ME: Answers VO: What do you earn ? HB: Answers ME: Answers VO: Have you travelled to any other countries? HB: Yes, UK ME: UK and Ghana VO: Do you have any evidence of funds for me? HB: Yes /Hands over bank statements/ VO: /Looks through statement/ I can see some investments here… ME: Yes, they are in for 30 days and can be liquidated midway if required /Quickly said that cause the closing balance was 2k but we had a letter indicating it had been placed on a fixed deposit cycle/ VO: What’s the name of the hospital you plan to use? ME: Answers VO: Did they tell you how much it’ll cost? ME: Yes, about 10k for normal delivery and 12k plus for C-section /I look down at hospital breakdown/ VO: Can I see that? ME: Yes /Hands over hospital breakdown/ VO: /Goes through breakdown /Hands breakdown back/ Did the hospital mention any discounts? ME: No VO: Okay, I’m going to grant you a visa at this time, but I need to advise you. I think the cost for the normal delivery, 10k, is low but that’s okay. Sometimes the hospitals offer some discount which they transfer to the US government and which you’re not entitled to so if they offer you a discount, just decline else it may affect your future applications. US: Noted, Thank you VO: /Hands us a slip/ Please pay the reciprocity fees at aisle ** and you will be contacted to collect your passport in a few days.
Reciprocity fee was N40,700.00 per person. Please take along the right amount, we had to wait for an hour to pay cause they didn’t have change and we were told you cannot leave your change.
Also my husband’s statements were in his company’s name and the VO didn’t ask any questions in this regard, I had read somewhere company accounts was a no-no, but we had taken the registration documents to show proof of ownership and collected letters from the banks stating he was the sole signatory.
Then again, it may not have been an issue because we were both present at the interview, if I had applied alone and taken his company’s account perhaps there may have been further questions.
Hope this helps someone. |

OmoBendel24: True that, from your post oh! But what was your answer to the question "for how long"?
Meanwhile, I will quickly advocate, I understand that's your story and strategy, cool, but this thread like many others are known for pressing for us Nigerians to do things the right way. You be judge if that your post looks good for this thread and others that it may not favor in the shortest of time after you....
I understand too, "all die na die"! @omobendel24, hope you can see where you implied my post was not good for the thread. I need not be told to delete my posts directly. You just extracted one of your posts that you wished to. Well here is another one |

OmoBendel24: @Becca01; why are you always goal-shifting and blackmailing? The above was my post in response to your not airtight plan previous year. Where are we now?
I put it to you that you are only here for yourself on this and, not for other people please. You and your likes are the ones that soil the road you pass through not minding the effect it will have on those coming from behind and even for yourself on your way back, your mindset is that of “I won’t worry for now, once I get to that bridge, I will cross it”, and that is why you are here again right now. You deleted those posts because of the traceable details you put out in the open before. I at least know the hospital you used and the doctor sef (not like there’s anything I was going to do with those details though, do note that we used them a couple of years ago), unless you had a change of plan after you deleted those posts.
I wish you all the best in your visa renewal efforts still. Ciao! I will not tolerate you talking to me anyhow. I don’t know who you think you are, honestly. Am glad you claim to know my hospital and doctor. At least you can ask them whether my bills were paid or not to answer your last years post(since you’re so concerned). I know better now, hence why I came here to ask for steps forward concerning visa application. Ultimately this forum can serve as an advice but it’s up to anyone to carry out what they think is best for them at any given time. FYI Canada will give whomever they choose to visa based on each persons application. We all learn and I honestly don’t know what you’re problem is. Saying “you and your likes”. What are your own likes if I may ask? Let me guess honest and upright citizen of Nigeria. If I didn’t pay all my bills, why will I be willing to take the medical route? Oh yeah, thanks for the best wishes. At least something positive from you. |

justwise: @Becca01 You don't need help from anybody here, i removed your last question and i will also remove this including anybody that answers it.
You deleted almost all your posts here then returned back now to ask more question and after getting the answer you will probably delete your posts till next time you need help.
You are just selfish By all means that’s fine. Suite yourself. You’re just ridiculous for calling me selfish. Because you’re admin here, you are not God. What I expect from you first is to ask why those posts were deleted. Just so you know, this is one of the few occasions am asking here on this thread for advise. My previous contributions have been advise and my POE experience from the past and I deleted my posts because people came at me for reasons best known to them. How would I be encouraged to leave my post when am being accused. If it helps the accusers to sleep better at night, I mean it’s not that serious. Am not going to divulge further. Please don’t disappoint and make sure you use your veto power to delete this too as usual. Am sure you get the gist. |

OmoBendel24: @Becca01
Wow! This is serious.... Well I believe I have a record/screenshots of all your deleted messages last year on this thread. Justwise can even help in this direction I think. You thought this day wouldn't come, abi? I just laugh, will pretend I didn't see this sha.
Wondering though, why didn't you just Jejelly come here with another moniker sef? Hope you know another annoying thing you are doing now is just to take and never give back to this thread. It is well with you! You are the actual reason for my deleted post. Am glad you have the screenshots. I hope you have also of when you came at me for reasons best known to you. We are to help each other here not tear each other down. I willingly came back to the thread to share my experience last year but you came at me like you know me from somewhere. My post for advise on this occasion was for the house. It’s okay to give one if you wish and it’s okay not to, either ways, we will all be alright. Just watch your tone as you’re not talking to kids here. PS: Am more than willing to share advise to whoever desires. Am not hoarding information like you and justwise seem to think. Anyways that’s it. |
