Politics › Reps Order Banks To Unblock Patience Jonathan's Accounts - Premiumtimes by BeeBeeOoh(op): 9:19pm On Sep 19, 2017
The House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions has directed six commercial banks to free accounts operated by former first lady, Patience Jonathan.

The committee chaired by Uzoma Nkem-Abonta (Abia-PDP), gave the directive on Tuesday in Abuja at a hearing on a petition by Mrs. Jonathan.

The affected banks are Union Bank, First Bank, EcoBank, Diamond Bank, Fidelity Bank and Skye Bank.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had directed the banks to freeze the accounts over allegations of corruption in the sources of the funds.

Officials of Union Bank, led by a lawyer, Kenneth Otowo, had told the panel that the bank placed Mrs. Jonathan’s account under a ‘precautionary restriction’ following a directive by the EFCC.

“We received a communication from EFCC to put a precautionary restriction on the account. The letter was dated March 21, 2016, so we had to act based on that,’’ he said.
But, the committee deplored the action, saying the bank could only take such decision if EFCC proved that it had obtained a court order to that effect.

“Until EFCC proves otherwise, I’ll ask you to remove the precautionary restriction on the account. Let me tell you, whatever you’ll do, you must follow the law. A bank can’t hold a legal entity to ransom.

“I want to order all other banks that all the accounts that have no specific pending order from the courts, please release them,’’ the committee chairman said.
The counsel to EcoBank, Afam Osigwe, said Mrs. Jonathan’s account could not have been on restriction because there was no court order to that effect.
He later said that the bank would cross-check its records and get back to the committee.

As for Diamond Bank, Mr. Jonathan’s lawyers said three of her accounts were frozen there.
However, Unoma Ndulue, who represented the bank, said two out of the three accounts were fully operative, while one was closed.

On Fidelity Bank, Mrs. Jonathan’s lawyers said they did not have a direct issue with the bank, but that it was through the EFCC.
Officials of First Bank and Skye Bank were not present at the meeting.

Meanwhile, the committee has given Ibrahim Magu, the EFCC acting Chairman, up to October 4 to appear before it or have arrest warrant issued against him.

Similarly, the panel asked Mrs. Jonathan’s lawyers and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) to reconcile their positions on an alleged tax default of over N10 million.

FIRS had said that Aridolf Resort Wellness and SPA, owned by Mrs Jonathan, failed to pay taxes in spite of serial reminders.
However, her lawyers insisted that they had paid all their taxes to the agency.

Politics › IPOB: Leave Me Out Of Your Tales By Moonlight, Jonathan Slams Lai Mohammed by BeeBeeOoh(op): 9:46am On Sep 19, 2017
-Goodluck Jonathan has reacted to a statement by Lai Mohammed that Nnamdi Kanu wasn't against Nigeria's unity during his tenure

- Jonathan admonished Mohammed for dragging him into the IPOB issues

- He urged the Nigerian government to drop propaganda and fish out those they believed are sponsoring the IPOB

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has reacted to a statement by minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, that the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, campaigned for Nigeria's unity during his tenure.

Recall that NAIJ.com reported that the minister during an interview claimed that the IPOB is being sponsored by people who are politically disgruntled and treasury looters.

Jonathan denied sponsoring Kanu to agitate for secession or frustrate the effort of the Buhari's administration.

In a statement released on his official Facebook page and signed by his spokesperson, Reno Omokri, Jonathan said accusing him of sponsoring IPOB has shown that the Buhari's adminstration is yet to leave propaganda for a proper agenda almost three years after getting into power.

The statement read: "Lai Mohammed, leave former President Jonathan out of your tales by moonlight on IPOB

"The insinuations in the press conference given by Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, on Sunday the 17th of September 2017, accusing the opposition of sponsoring the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and the fact that he mentioned that Nnamdi Kanu preached Nigerian unity during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan is another clear indication that the present administration has not left propaganda mode for proper agenda mode two and a half year into their tenure.

"If the government in which Lai Mohammed serves, knows which opposition members are sponsoring IPOB, then they should identify them, arrest them and then prosecute them.

"Ever since Lai Mohammed made his ill advised statement, a principal member of the All Progressive Congress government and the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, has come out to say that the actions in the Southeast are troubling and some of it are unconstitutional. Is he also sponsoring IPOB too?"

Jonathan accused Lai Mohammed of speaking out in support of Boko Haram, and kicking against the Jonathan administration for banning it in 2013.

He said: t is our suspicion that Lai Mohammed is talking from history seeing as he criticized the Jonathan government for banning Boko Haram in a statement he released on June 10, 2013, even though the Jonathan government had gone through due process before proscribing that murderous sect.

"Perhaps Lai Mohammed thinks everybody is like him and those he represents," the statement read."

He however, commended the southeast governors for their quick intervention which he said prevented a major bloodbath in the region.

He said: "I also commend the governors of the Southeast for cooperating with the military and in the process saving lives and property. It is a noble act that should not be ignored.

"However, we want to advise the Buhari administration, which has announced plans to extend the military show of force to the Southsouth and the Southwest through Operation Crocodile Smile, to thread with caution.

"Nigeria is no longer under military rule. In a democracy, you separate the military from the police. The military is not meant to fight criminality within a nation because they are trained to fight a nation's external enemies.

"It is the police that are trained to fight crime Internally.

"When the military starts doing the job of the police and starts fighting or doing what they call a 'show of force', the effect will not be to reduce crime. The effect will be to intimidate people."

He urged the Buhari's administration to focus on its government and agenda rather than a propaganda to tarnish the image of the past administration.

He said: "Let me say again to Lai Mohammed, the time for propaganda is gone. The time for blaming Dr. Goodluck Jonathan for all the unfulfilled promises of the APC government is over. Nigerians are no longer buying it.

"Rome may not have been built in a day, but from day one you could see evidence of builders building up Rome. But what have we seen in the last two and a half years of the Muhammadu Buhari administration? We see a government that from day one has been blaming instead of building.

"Finally, I seize this opportunity to remind Lai Mohammed that under the Jonathan administration the ministry of information had annual ministerial briefing where the media and civil society groups interrogated cabinet ministers on the activities of their departments. 100 days briefing was given to Nigerians on the government's vision and one year briefings was given to the nation on government activities. An elaborate mid term briefing was also given by that government to the country on the achievements of the administration."

Msteww..tired of reading fake news everywhere
this might not be fake bro, it happened in my area last 2 weeks during that sala period, an Hausa man collected 3 men's dîck(2 fellow Hausa men and 1 igala man). The igala man's body went cold after he shaked the hand of an Hausa man(a wrist watch seller), he felt somehow as if his body is not complete, lo and behold, he touched his AmstelRock and e no come dey dia again na em the guy begin shout, we no take am serious until he off his trousers. It was like a joke bro but I saw it with my two eyes, his dîck went inside and became like a month old baby dîck, the hausa man vowed that he's not gonna bring back those dîcks till people started to mend him small small and he changed his mind. Even fellow Hausa's were amazed and helped in mending him also, at the end of the day he brought back those dîck but not in full, the thing was coming out bit by bit(I saw things that day). One was taken to a brothel when the thing came back fully dîck no gree rise even after the love peddler worked aggressively on the dîck oh mehn shocked, no be small thing, the Hausa man was locked up in the police cell for like two days before the dîck started working. Since that day, the guy(igala guy) no dey gree shake people's hand like that he go first examine you well well, in fact he no dey talk to Hausa people again, it might sound funny but it's true. Na that day i come know sey my prick dey very very important, I come dey respect him more since then. I cannor koman and lose my dick

Politics › IPOB, Military Violence: Senate Caucus Condemns Nigerian Army - Premiumtimesng by BeeBeeOoh(op): 11:25pm On Sep 12, 2017
The military operation – codenamed Operation Python Dance – in Nigeria’s South-east has been criticised as ill-conceived and anti-rights by the senators representing the region.

In a statement on Tuesday, the chairman of the South-east Senate caucus, said the Igbo senators viewed the military operation as one that could jeopardise their ongoing engagement with the Nnamdi Kanu-led separatist movement, IPOB, which the lawmakers suggested were exercising their constitutionally-backed rights.

The commencement of the Operation Python Dance 2 in Umuahia, Abia State capital, on Sunday, came with tension, as citizens, presumed to be members of IPOB, confronted with sticks and stones the soldiers parading the streets in what the Army called “show of force”.

Although IPOB’s lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, claimed the soldiers invaded the compound of Mr. Kanu and killed several persons, there was no evidence to back the claim. But a video footage showing a young man who sustained injury from gunshot and another one showing IPOB members confront soldiers with sticks and stones did emerge online.

The ongoing operation was intended to check kidnapping, banditry, assassination, secessionist activities within the region, amongst other forms of criminal activities, the Army said in official position ahead of the commencement.

But the deployment of the soldiers provoked the violent confrontation that happened on Sunday, the Senate caucus said, and called for the des-escalation of the operation.

Their statement read: “We had hoped that our ongoing engagement with the group would be given a chance but here we are with a hurried military action deep into a highly populated area with high propensity for casualty, which occurrence would rather escalate the already tense situation.

“It is more worrisome that military operation, ‘Python Dance 2,’ restricted to the South-east in a peace time, has no doubt fouled the environment and sent strong signal that the region is under siege, which should not be so in a democracy.

“We, therefore, urge extreme caution and advise the military to de-escalate the situation and choose the best operational modus that will not only guaranty the safety of Nigerians but also enhance national unity.

“Nigeria is not at war, people are only exercising their constitutional and universally guaranteed rights, so far they are carrying on in a manner that has never given room to violence which could warrant a wholesale military expedition.”

The senators spoke about same time Abia State Government declared a three day-curfew in some parts of the state and expressed readiness to cooperate with the Army, while also stressing “unequivocally” that “Abia is a componentState of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and subscribes to the supremacy of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and all other extant laws.”

The state however said: “While the Government of Abia State recognizes the right of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies, to perform their statutory duty of protection of lives and property of Nigerian citizens, such duties must be carried out within acclaimed Nigerian and international standards of engagement with the civil populace, with due respect to the human rights of citizens and sanctity of human lives.”
