OluDare01: Nice. I'd encourage you to not shy away from top schools. I'm a PhD student of analytical chemistry. Feel free to contact me if you need any help. I was about saying the same thing. You have a great GPA @Hassanolek n your GRE score isn't bad, so you should aim higher. Make your list a mix of ambitious, moderate, and safe schools. You might be lucky enough to get into one of your termed ambitious schools. |

Olalekank: Step 1: Open your browser Step 2: Type in www.Google.com Step 3: Type in "good schools in the US that offer funding for MSC" Step 4: Open a link, check the schools, talk with the program coordinator on funding information Step 5: Repeat Step 4 for many other schools
It's not easy to wait for someone to come and start positing schools that offer funding. Some things are better left for you to research. Come on, you're going for grad admission. Olalekank!!! |

BikeMan: see, you worked hard for you first class, you also need to work hard to source information now. If you're planning to integrate into the American Labour Force after studies you can't go to just any school. On the GRE thread, I read of a UNN guy that was only applying to the top 10 schools, he got funded at MIT i think on the second try. You have an awesome profile don't waste it That's why I asked you to contact CuteRedd, she's looking for get into a nice school too and i'm sure she already has ideas. But you can also check top schools for MS in CS and check the type of assistantship/funding they have(because some top schools don't fund people). Then you check safe schools too. It's that easy. I'd do that, thanks. |

Hi scipy, Please how did you go abt ur unofficial Wes transcript evaluatn? scipy: Hi guys,
Great job y'all are doing here! I finally wrote the GRE after a prolonged wait. I hardly had time to prep for the exam and my scores reflect this (Q161 V149)
I am gunning for a MSc/PhD in Electrical Engineering
Schools of choice:
San Diego State Uni University of Tennessee Washington State Uni Uni of Toledo
My unofficial WES undergrad GPA is 3.71/4.00 Electrical/Electronic Engineering 1 year work experience No publication
I am a bit afraid about my scores being poor. I would appreciate advise on the choice of schools and any other relevant advice Thanks guys! |

bracelum: True talk I honestly see no need for a Ph.D. (for tech) if the career goal is not to work in R & D or academia. Most tech companies I've seen recruit Master's and PhDs for similar roles Even Quant roles in Investment banks and hedge funds I've seen recruit Master's and Ph.Ds for similar roles.
Some tech firms like Microsoft have a special recruitment program for Ph.Ds and it is strictly for R & D roles.
Different strokes for different folks. Thanks guys @bracelum @Bikeman @cuteredd n others. I'd appreciate your suggestions on schools I can still forward a ms application to, n that wud give funding. |

Pefuele: Honestly,it is better he applies directly to PhD. I noticed the US offer more funding for direct PhD than masters in STEM courses and with a profile like that he can get a professor that will like him to work under him and possibly help push for a GA. I'm a she |
