Or is it that they are cooking up some stories to frame him or what? Remember the

CareerGreat Tips To Jumpstart Your Career. by beetintin(op): 11:59am On Aug 03, 2007
Hello all,

I just finished reading a GREAT book, Radical Careering by Sally Hogshead. You need to
check this book OUT! cool

Well, I have decided to share some of the wonderful lessons I learnt in the book
with my fellow Nairalanders. This will be an ongoing thread and you will need to be reading
it regularly. I will also be sharing some career boosting tips I glimpse elsewhere.

1) OWN YOUR CAREER OR IT WILL OWN YOU

Career ownership begins when you start generating capital within yourself. It creates
TRUE power: the power to CHOOSE your goals, your path, who to be, who not to be.

Career ownership allows you to choose your life. wink

My own point: It is your attitude to your career that matters most.

2) YOUR JOB IS NOT YOUR CAREER!

These two words used to mean the same thing. But no more. Today your job is where
you work: duties, coworkers, office space et al. A job is a means to an end. A vehicle
to get you where you want to go.

A career on the other hand, is a long-term journey. You will probably have many jobs
and probably many professions, all bundled into your single career. Your career
represents your holistic professional path. It is the sum total of every idea and action
and vision that uniquely comes from you.

Whatever you want (more money, more satisfaction, more time off), keep in mind that
your job isn't an end in itself. Your job is a tool. No more no less.

You can be fired from your job, but you'll never be fired from you career. cool

3) ULTIMATELY YOU WILL HAVE THE CAREER YOU EARN!

No one will make it happen but you. Period!

WISDOM TIP

We each have the potential to do something beyond our wildest imagination, as long
as we're prepared to make it happen at any given moment of our lives.

Enjoy these words for now, more to come. cool
BusinessRe: Robert Kiyosaki: His 'Rich Dad' Does 'Not Exist'? by beetintin(m): 11:35am On Aug 03, 2007
@all,

It is possible there is no rich dad, but there is a Poor Dad. RK might have come up with
those words to portray a message in a way people will be able to understand. The
book made so much meaning to me than any. wink

I am not sure why we are even debating so much on this anyway. The Reed's comments
were made in 2003 or so and I even think i heard the man has apologised to RK a long
time ago. So no need overflogging this issue jare. Maybe we all have to follow RK's
advice:

@iice, sharp babe. grin grin grin

What if it appears at the beginning that you cannot get anything? What will you do.

I think working for rich men, brings a lot of open doors. What with the opportunity of
interacting with their network of friends and associates? A door can open from there

When I read the book about 5 years ago, I was doubting if there is any Rich dad anywhere. But
who cares whether the Rich dad is a figment of Bob's imagination or not? I learnt a lot of life lessons
in that book that helped me chart a course for my life.

As advised by Bob, I am minding my business and my business is taking care of me now. I no longer
belong to the members of the rat race. I don't have to wake up 5am to run after a boss that doesn't
care about me and come back late at night. I run my own show. All thanks to the golden advice by RTK wink

Please MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS! wink

at last egoldman, you've got somebody to support your racism stance. We can now
rest.

Maybe your campaign should be targeted at your country people so that they know
how to launder the image of the country POSITIVELY. The treatment of Osuofia didn't
just start the day he was humiliated or racial attacked, as it pleases you my Lord cool

When we know how to act right, others will know how to treat us right. wink

Chillibabe, thank you very much, at least egoldman will be so glad to have a companion.
We don't need to be from a particular country to know what the truth is. Do we?

chillbabe:
@ Egoldman

It is plain an simple racism because everybody here in Holland knows that 419 guys don't go to Osoufia"s show. And believe me the dutch police know that also they just take this for an excuse to deport people.
How many shows has he done in Holland for your fact to be substantiated Ma? Who
are evn the evrybody sef?

Well, I don't have anything against Osuofia, he is somebody I love so much, but that
him chop your dollar song, get as e be o. cool

PoliticsRe: 'All Nigerians Are Corrupt', Says Oprah Winfrey by beetintin(m): 8:20am On Jul 30, 2007
Maybe you and denex should face the Nigerians spoiling our image home and abroad.
I don't know why you are all making noise when no link has been provided to
support whether O said what has been ascribed to her.

Keep making noise you hear.

A t least am happy in nigeria we don't have high percentage of children that got involve in drug at early age.I was in East london sumtimes back what i saw there kept me thinkin for days. see young children ,11yrs old or thereabout already nvolve in drugs alot of children like that.join gangs at a very young age. a lot of youth that don't even know what they want in life.carrying guns up and down
Which part of Nigeria do you stay? I am sure not in Lagos, because if you do, you will
witness a lot of this going on in places like AJ City, Ojuelegba, Yaba, Ebute Metta, and
several other parts of Lagos.

Because of the hardship that has being caused a lot of people, you see even 8 year olds
being conductors in buses all around. Have you heard of the word "Osanle" before.
They seem to be everywhere now.

Let us fix our own side of the story and others will learn to respect us cool

PoliticsRe: My Ordeal In The Hands Of The Netherlands Police, By Osoufia by beetintin(m): 7:55am On Jul 30, 2007
egoldman,

I am still wondering what you want to achieve o. If you want to campaign against
"racism" against Nigerians, this may not be the right place to do that. Why don't
you go to the Dutch land and start your campaign there? huh

Raining insults on those who disagree with you won't solve your problem Sir. cool

When you are in Rome, you are supposed to behave like Romans, so if Osuofia behaved
as if he is in Nigeria in another man's land, what do you think he should get? He deserved
to be told he is worth nothing over there.

So please, stop extending this thread for nothing sake. We all know you have racism at
the back of your mind. We don get wetin you dey talk. So abeg make we yarn something
better jare. At least Osuofia said he has put this behind him. cool

How will our boycotting O's show bring down her rating?  huh  huh

What has your people done for this country to make us proud that
even the foreigners will have no choice than to praise them?  huh  huh

I am amazed by the way we take issues here. Is it not always in the news
all our corrupt officials have been doing? Why should Oprah come and invest
here or even help us when our government keep stealing what belong to the
people.

If the money had been made to circulate, will there be so much corruption around?

The replies to this issue have been so embarrasing.

egoldman,

In the first place, why did you start this thread? To have evrybody tow your line and
start screaming racism? huh

So no one has the right to disagree with you or what? Do you think Osuofia has any
good rep abroad? I was so ashamed to read comments about his song in a New York
paper last year. he has a bad rep and his appearance anywhere in a whiteman country
will attract some attentions. Get that straight man.

You can scream racism to heavens and your noise won't move any ant.

Let us get our acts right and people will be able to treat us right. cool

U just don't understand. When you get fulfilled in whatever you are doing, money rolls in and you get
double portion: Fulfillment + Money embarassed

Money doesn't bring fulfillment but fulfillment can bring money. I am saying this because I no so and I
have experienced it. We just get our priorities wrong and that is why our Politicians keep stealing
money. if money brings fulfillment, what makes one that has stolen a billion keep stealing? huh

I am sure most people will take offers to wash dead body or sweep snow in foreign countries just to
make money. embarassed
CareerRe: Money Or Fulfilment: Which Do You Prefer? by beetintin(m): 5:11pm On Jul 25, 2007
I am sorry to say Sirs/Mas, fulfillment comes before any other thing in life.

If you are not fulfilled, be the RICHEST man in the whole Universe, you won't enjoy
your money. You can say Bill Gates is fulfilled not because of his money because he
found fulfillment early in life. He wasn't a rich man when he started Microsoft you know.

Money doesn't buy fulfillment but I am sure we are all entitled to our own opinion. wink

CareerRe: Am I Mad? by beetintin(m): 7:12pm On Jul 23, 2007
Hey guys, GREAT response all kiss

Most people run after money and neglect their purpose in life at the
tail end of their lives, they discover that they have not lived at all.
It is NEVER about the money you know, it is about getting fulfilled in life
that is my own idea of living.

To make it more interesting, while doing what you see as your purpose, you
still end up making MORE money that thinks money is the be all of life. The
double portion is that you get more fulfilled than them. cool

I have always adviced people to live and not just exist but unfortunately most
people are just existing and not living at all. Fear of the future has crippled them
from taking the right decision. One thing I learnt early in life is that at the point of
making a decision, there is always a change of destiny.

@poster, follow your heart and LIVE.

I wish I could just lay my hands on My precious book, Chicken Soup. I will post some
interesting stories later. kiss
