gsade: @ your last paragraph, there is a reason Turbo Tax and the other service providers require that information. Like i said earlier, you would not see the amount on your tax returns but it influences how much personal federal tax credits you are entitled to which in turn influences your refund/amount owing. I've filed my taxes and that of some others myself and i am 100% certain it impacts your tax refund. Please see screenshot below from CRA website and let me know if you still hold your opinion. It's always best to declare your full income and let them decide what to do with that information.

pejuhazel:I see other people have responded. The requirement to convert from CIMA is to have sat and passed ALL CIMA papers. I doubt that writing only one would make you qualify. Nonetheless, the response from CPA would be most authentic, so see what they say when they respond. |

pejuhazel:I think you should abort mission if your plan is to obtain CPA using the CIMA. You should check the requirement for obtaining CPA with CIMA designation, or better, send an email to CPA to clarify. |

raphrulz:I don't need to send an email, i successfully did it. Like i said earlier, the information on the website regarding completing the exams before landing was updated last year. If anyone is in doubt, let them contact CPA of whichever province they intend to settle. 2 Likes 1 Share |

raphrulz:This is the information on CPA BC website. Could you let us know the source of your info? The truth is that information was included as part of the requirement sometime ago and its been updated since last year April, which is why i asked people to research basic stuff for themselves. 2 Likes 1 Share

olioxx: Hi, i think your questions are too generic are vague. What tech scene? what is your understanding of its current position and what changes are you looking forward to? What exams? What is your specialty? Consider revising your question and you may get responses. |

jelmusboy:It'd be better to send the check back to them, otherwise, once your records (including change of province/address) regularizes, you'd be required to refund the amount. I think it's based on the idea that you'll also receive your new province's benefit. 7 Likes |

Jasmine17:It is not proper to tell a stranger on the internet how to run her home or what gender roles should be adopted, esoecially when she did not ask for it. She stated in her post that they were a family of 5, why didn't you ask who was minding the kids when she went house hunting? How do you know he's an African man? Everyone does what works for their family and we should all respect that! 58 Likes |

rainazoe:You become tax resident from when you first established residency in Canada. So technicaly, you became eligible to file income taxes from June when you landed. In 2019, you'll have to declare your worldwide income (both earned in Canada and Nigeria) from June (when you became a PR), however, due to the double taxation agreement between Nigeria and Canada, you would not have to pay taxes on income already subject to tax in Nigeria, but you must still file returns. This response does not cover child benefits though, i don't know how that works. 8 Likes 6 Shares |

There are lots of conflicting information on what recruiters look for so you may as well get help from experienced/professionals. 4 Likes |

hotD: Congrats on your landing. I would assume your experience with seeing drug abuse on the streets is because you live around the downtown. There are lots of very quiet and family oriented areas in Kitchener or you could consider Cambridge. Consider areas like doon south, huron park, hidden valley. You may be shocked to find same thing in Guelph if you visit downtown. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Emmyqueen:I'm not sure you'd get advice on claiming asylum here. It appears that your plan all along was to get a visitors visa and claim asylum, because how is it that you discussed permament residence and you didnt know about the exams you were supposed to take? No basic reserach at all? Now that you've found this thread, count your loss, forget agent, research and apply for your visa yourself. 18 Likes |

[quote author=laborel post=64702718]Congratulations Fellow. Please I have been having issues getting a number on freetone and I need help. It kept on telling m my card(GTBank and Stanbic MasterCard) is not correct when trying to make payment. I have done this more than 4times and it kept on giving me the same response. Please help your brother. Thanks/quote] Hi, I used Access bank's visacard and it worked perfectly. I think I had to link the card to my google account cos I was charged an amount which was later reversed perhaps just to check that the card is funded, not sure. @dadR, thanks for the good wishes. I used a Canadian address on my CV (where I lived during my soft landing). 2 Likes 2 Shares |
