There are reports from Enugu State that several vultures died after eating meat suspected to be cow at a popular market in the Southeast state.

In a video clip posted on YouTube by RainbowTV, there was pandemonium in Eke Market Ihe Awgu Local Government Area of the state.

At the time of filing this report, there is no report of any death of local consumers who might have bought and eaten from the same cow meat.

Another closed Facebook group BCT WORLD TV who also posted the video said residents woke to a surreal picture of over 50 dead vultures littered around the community market in a quiet yet bustling commercial village in Awgu LGA of Enugu state Saturday, July 20, 2019.


This incidence is coming at a time there are tensions between herdsmen and the locals who have vehemently kicked against the idea of cattle settlement in their domain.

The police have invited popular singer, Timi Dakolo, and his wife, Busola, a photographer, for questioning over allegation of rape.

The couple was asked to report to DSP Ibrahim Agu in Abuja on Tuesday for an “interview”.

The Dakolos invitation by the force on Saturday may not be unconnected with the rape allegation by Busola against the founder of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo.

Busola had alleged that Fatoyinbo raped her at 16 in Ilorin while attending his church.

Following the outrage and street protests that trailed the allegation, Fatoyinbo was forced to step down as the senior pastor of COZA.

The invitation letter signed by Deputy Commissioner of Police, IGP Special Tactical Squad, Force Headquarters, Kolo Yusuf, directed the couple to report for interrogation on July 23 by 10am.

The couple was accused of “criminal conspiracy, falsehood, mischief and threat to life.”

The letter dated July 18 and addressed to Dakolo read in part, “This office is investigating a case of criminal conspiracy, falsehood, mischief and threat to life in which your name was mentioned. Thickmatch.com reports

“You are kindly requested to interview the undersigned officer on 23/7/2019 by 10:00hrs for fact-finding through DSP Ibrahim Agu.’’

Reacting to the invitation, Dakolo in a post on Instagram said their lawyer had earlier asked them to get ready for the police invitation.

Without naming Fatoyinbo, Dakolo accused him of bribing investigators and engaging in other underhand tactics.

He wrote, “A pastor? bribing investigating officials to delay summons? Paying dirty bloggers to fabricate things that cover the truth, going to the IG’s (Inspector-General of Police) people under dark to force this case to be posted to Abuja.

“Now this: A false investigation in Abuja when our petition filed since June has not been answered and no invitation has been made to the accused in a rape case? Not one movement towards justice? Rubbishing the legal and criminal system?

“And sending a bus load of policemen and shady men lying in wait to intimidate my wife and children today (Saturday), forcing their way into my home? Is that how real policemen deliver a letter?”

The artiste vowed to fight for his wife and children, stressing that he would defend his family from “the unrelenting attack of a weak man who thinks he can use money and power to cover his crimes.”

The Force spokesman, DCP Frank Mba, could not be reached for comment on Dakolo’s allegation that the police did not investigate his petition against Fatoyinbo submitted last month.

Calls to Mba’s phone indicated that his line was unavailable. He had also yet to respond to a text message on the invitation letter to the Dakolos as of the time of filing this report.

Also, Dakolo neither picked calls made to his mobile nor replied to the text message sent on Saturday.

Five inmates of Maximum Security Prison in Kirikiri, Lagos, have bagged university degrees from National Open University (NOUN).

The Vice Chancellor of NOUN, Prof. Abdalla Uba Adamu, disclosed this in Lagos on Friday during the graduation ceremony and presentation of certificates to the five inmates at Maximum Security Prison, Kirikiri.

Adamu, who was represented by Professor Gregory Okagbare, said over 526 inmates were studying various courses from Nigerian prisons. He said there had been an increase in the numbers of inmates enrolling in degree programmes of NOUN in the various study centres located in prisons nationwide.

“There are over 526 inmates studying various courses at both under and post graduate levels while in prison detention. I congratulate the graduating inmates and urge you to seek for higher qualifications,” he said.
The Controller General of Prisons, Ja’afaru Ahmed, who was represented by Assistant Controller General Chuks VU Chiabua, reiterated the commitment of the prison service to continually provide educational platform for inmates to realise their dreams while in prison.

The successful inmates who received their certificates in various degrees are: Adebayo Ojo, B.Sc Criminology & Security Studies, Idong Nelson, B.Sc Peace & Conflict Resolution and Audu Godfrey, B.Sc PCR. Others are Akolade Arowolo, PDG in Peace & Conflict Resolution and Okeke Chinonso B.Sc Entrepreneurship and Business Management

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) which started off an investigation into the stowaway incident recorded on Friday at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos, has suspended the security heads of the facility indefinitely.

Recall that there was a security breach at the Lagos airport yesterday morning, when an Azman flight taking off for Port Harcourt from Lagos aborted its journey after an unidentified man carrying a bag held on to the wings of the aircraft awaiting final clearance from the control towers to take off.

Speaking on the incident, the General Manager, Corporate Affairs, FAAN, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu said a thorough check was conducted on the aircraft before its eventual takeoff.

She said, “At about 1009 hours, aviation security officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria arrested an intruder who was sighted trying to climb into an Azman aircraft waiting for clearance from Air Traffic Controllers.

The pilot of the Azman aircraft with registration number 5N-HAI departing Lagos for Port Harcourt reported the incident and Avsec officials swiftly responded. The man has been apprehended and is now in Avsec’s custody. The authorities are already investigating the incident.”

The Lagos airport security heads suspended indefinitely pending the conclusion of investigation, include the Airport Chief of Security, Mamman Sadiku; International Terminal Security Officer, Oni Abiodun; Head of Department, Domestic Terminal 2, Owotor Okezie, and Head of Department, Domestic Terminal 1, Badejo Ayodele.



“In the interim, a general manager of the authority, Dr. Anne Enyinnaya-Egbadon, has been detailed to take charge of security at the airport. Other affected officers have also been replaced. The current arrangement is aimed at ensuring an efficient and thorough investigation towards the recovery and sustenance of the airport’s proactive security integrity.

“FAAN views this breach as a serious security concern and has commenced investigation to ascertain the causes of this incident and forestall future occurrence" Yakubu added.

Bill Gates has been unseated as the second richest man in the world, losing the position to Bernard Arnault, the chairman and CEO of LVMH.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that in the latest ranking by Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index, Arnault is in second place with Jeff Bezos still retaining the first place.

Arnault and his family are the majority owners of Christian Dior and LVMH, parent of such brands as Louis Vuitton, Celine, Fendi, Moët, Hennessy, Dom Pérignon, and others.

As LVMH’s share price has soared in 2019, so has Arnault’s worth. It now stands at about $107.6 billion, more than $200 million ahead of Gates, Bloomberg estimates.

The report also stated that Gates would had been ranked the richest person, even ahead of Bezos if not for his philanthropic giveaways which gave Arnault more room to climb.

The French entrepreneur entered the luxury industry in 1984, when he bought Boussac, a textile empire in the midst of bankruptcy that owned Dior.

The famed label by then had deteriorated by licensing its name out to companies producing sub-par products.

Arnault set about reviving it, turning it into a vertically integrated company that did its own production, distribution, and marketing.

He went on to buy up other brands, such as Céline, and in 1988 engineered the deal that made him the majority shareholder of LVMH.

Forbes currently ranks Dior as the world’s largest fashion brand based on sales, profits, assets, and market value.

Meanwhile, LVMH on the whole, keeps attracting customers around the world, with China being the latest highly profitable frontier.

The chairman Kano Governorship Election Tribunal Justice Halima Shamaki on Tuesday told Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, ( APC) and Abba Kabiru Yusuf, (PDP) to desist from sending their representative before the court, to witness the ongoing state governorship election proceedings.

The judge on two sittings declined to recognize the representatives sent by the duo to witness the court process.

At the last court session, chairman, All Progressive Congress, (APC) Kano state chapter, Abdullahi Abbas informed the court that he is in court to represent Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

In the same vein, a former aide to Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Yunusa Dangwoni announced his appearance on behalf of PDP Governorship candidate, Abba Kabiru Yusuf.

The tribunal judge noted that the duo of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Abba Kabiru Yusuf are not allowed to appear before the court by proxy.

Justice Shamaki said “ they can not be represented, if they want to come they should come, I said it and I expect counsel to guide them properly.”

Delivering the tribunal pre-trial report Justice Shamaki urged counsels to the parties involved in the matter, to be ready to work within the set out time frame, Shamaki cautioned lawyers appearing before her to be weary of time, stressing that election proceedings are time-bound.

She disclosed that star witnesses would be accorded 20 minutes to testify, while other witnesses would be accorded 10 minutes to testify.

According to her, 253 PDP witnesses will all testify within the period of 14, disclosing that, INEC, Ganduje and All Progressive Congress, APC would be allotted 10 days each to present their witnesses.

She further reiterated her commitment to respect of time by saying “ I am like a moving train, I cannot be stopped, I do not allow waste of time, I said it.”

“I will not entertain request for adjournment from any junior lawyer, all of you in your team have more than one SAN, we must move fast, because of time .”She cautioned.
