Dear OP, Whatever you do, try to be as straightforward as possible. It will help you now and in the future. In addition to that, a bank is not an organisation where you try to outsmart the management. Integrity is key. Any liitle taint on your integrity, you're out, especially if you are a new hire and you haven't been confirmed yet. This can actually also hinder you from getting a job with other financial institutions in the future. As to your question, I'll advise you go for the fintech since getting an I.T related role in the bank isn't guaranteed. Even if you are not retained in the Fintech organization after one year, I believe you would have gained enough experience to even land a better role. Trust me, tech guys are in high demand right now. Gain as much experience as you can for one year, if you're retained, fine, if not, you will definitely get a good job if you know your onions. There are tech vacancies everywhere these days. Don't have the mindset that it's difficult to get a job in Nigeria. People are changing jobs everyday. May God guide you to make the right decision. |
Lol... I remember going to a beach some years ago and picking up some shells. I keot the shells for a very lomg time. I'm sure I still have them somewhere. I guess anyone who saw them then would have wondered the same way you're wondering. Just ask her. It can be for anything. |
Anybody in the house? |
Good morning people! I know nairaland is a platform full of people from different career backgrounds and I'll like to leverage on this to get some information about the communications career. I have a first and second degree in Communication and I presently work in the financial sector. I'll like to switch to corporate communication/ Integrated Marketing Communication not necessarily in the financial sector alone but in other sectors too. I'm aware that there aren't professional courses for communication graduates to take, at least, at the Nigerian level. I'll like to find out from those who presently work in Corporate Communication- What exams or certifications did you have to get to enable you work in the field? What additional skills will make it easy for me to make the switch? How can I position myself career wise to be able to get a role in Corporate Communication. I'll really appreciate comments from people in this field. Thank you! |
tobasamuels:Did you sit beside him yesterday? I think I got your name when he called you. |
ALKARULEZZ:Thank you so much!! |
Iyanu28:Thank you!! |
ALKARULEZZ:Please, must we have up to three referees? |
Lynnsada:Wow! So, you had to get an affidavit that same day? |
Please, can someone describe how I can get to the First Academy in Lagos if I am going directly from Ibadan. |
logicid:The mail did not state the exact type of birth certificate that will be accepted, so, in this case, they should accept birth certificates from private hospitals since it wasn't stated otherwise. |
Luckyomon:Okay. Thanks. |

atmy1:Hello! Please, I've been trying to get an internship position in a PR firm. I have sent mails to a number of them but I'm yet to get a response from any of them. How do you suggest I go about it? |
This place is strangely quiet. What's going on?
I was expecting to see tons of comments on this thread. |
Thernicks:Oritamefa Baptist Model School!!! There is an annex at Ring-road. It's around Oluyole. The school checks all your requirements. Oops sorry! I just saw the Primary school after I posted the comment. The annex at Ring-road doesn't have a primary school. |
Please, I'll like to know if there is any public relations firm in Ibadan. I tried searching online but I haven't been able to find any. Also, if you know of any communication (advertising, marketing and research) firm in Ibadan, I'll like to know the name. Thank you. |
Romeo3:You don't have to stop posting on nairaland because you were banned. |
He who the gods want to punish, they first make deaf. Really, Romeo, I'll like you to calm down and take a second look at the comments of those who have been telling you to stop posting pictures of your clients and also those who told you the ban and removal of pictures were necessary. No one is jealous, as some people have been saying. I have been reading your stories and I enjoyed them but I didn't feel okay with the pictures. I don't think they are right. You come across as intelligent. Won't you rather take the advice of people who have intelligently, without insults, told you why you should not put up pictures of your clients over the advice of people who can't get their opinions across without insulting others and labeling them haters? I think you need to see things from other people's perspectives. You are NOT all knowing and when a lot of people say the same things consistently, you need to take time to see if there are truths in it. At the end though, it's your call. |
A malfunction at a fertility clinic freezer in Cleveland, Ohio, may have affected at least 500 patients and damaged over 2,000 frozen eggs and embryos. An incident over the weekend caused temperatures to rise in a tissue storage bank at the University Hospitals Fertility Clinic. The viability of the eggs and embryos is unknown, the facility said in a statement. Between 500 and 600 patients may be affected by the apparent equipment failure, NBC News reported, while Cleveland.com reported the figure could be as high as 700. The freezer, which is one of two at the UH Fertility Center, held around 2,000 egg and embryo specimens, Dr James Liu, chairman of the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UH Cleveland Medical Center, told Cleveland.com. Some of the eggs stored were deposited in the 1980s, he said. The situation is “devastating for the families involved, and it's devastating for our physicians and our nurses and our staff as well,” Patti DePompei, president of UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital and MacDonald Women's Hospital, told NBC News. University Hospitals has launched an investigation into what it described as an “unexpected temperature fluctuation”. All of the tissue has since been transferred to a working tank. No one was at the facility overnight on Saturday, and the storage tank was monitored both on and off-site. "Until we know the issue that caused this we will be monitoring the tank 24/7," Liu told Cleveland.com. Patients were sent letters on Tuesday, and can contact an hotline set up to deal with the incident. However, the only way to know if an embryo is still viable is to thaw and implant it. “We are incredibly sorry this happened. We are committed to getting answers and working with patients individually to address their concerns,” University Hospitals said in a statement. On average, freezing eggs can cost between $12,000 and $14,000. It remains to be seen whether patients whose tissue was in the freezer will still be expected to pay, DePompei told NBC News. The incident comes as a growing number of women choose to freeze their eggs due to illness, or because they are concerned that the quality and quantity of their eggs will drop over time. Between 2009 and 2015, the number of women freezing their eggs has jumped from 475 and to more than 6,200 according to the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology which represents most fertility clinics in the U.S., USA Today reported. myrrtle:Hello! I have read a lot about how useful LinkedIn is and have been advised to open a LinkedIn profile but I have been hesitant to do so because I do not have much work experience. I interned for one month in a firm and also worked during NYSC like everyone else. My NYSC job though, had no link with the career path I want to pursue, so, I don't see it as a really relevant work experience. Is it advisable for graduates who are yet to get their first real jobs to create LinkedIn profiles? Is it enough to only list one's skills and theoretical knowledge? |
Some years ago, Five Alive was the number 1 fruit juice in Nigeria. Nowadays Five Alive can hardly be found in parties and occasions. I think only the Pulpy orange drink is doing well. I know there are lots of fruit juice brands that are doing well. Is that why Five Alive has taken a back seat? What could be the reasons for this. If you used to buy Five Alive and don't buy anymore, what are your reasons. |
Time to famz.... I know the drummer girl.... Tobi.... Babe's been drumming since she was a very young girl in church. |
hmm.... sighs..... So, I watched it on their website. First, why didn't the top 8 perform as they did last season? We didn't get to see any performance from J-dess, Jahtell, Chris Rio and Yimika. I was looking forward to it. So let's just say I was completely disappointed with the whole show. Poor singing and song choices especially from Ebube. I pity the guy sha because the kind of bashing he will receive ehn... It is well with him. The performances of the judges with their team members too were boring. Only Yemi's team performance was really interesting. I haven't seen Timi's own though, it's not on the website yet, so maybe his team did better. I'm not shocked with the results. When decisions are left in the hands of voters, anything can happen. It's better Idyl won though. It would have been disastrous if Ebube won. Congratulations to Idyl. It's his time. |
homesteady:lol.... Abi na.... Timi hinted at it though. I was hoping he would say it. Funny thing is she might not be among the top 4. This thing is all about how popular you are and the people you know o.. I was surprised that Idyll was saved over Bada, with the kind of support Bada had. Like you said, hopefully, her people will vote for her. |
closerange:True though but she could have switched it a bit. Her last performance didn't excite me because I've seen her do something like that before. She's good though, I'll give her that and she's pregnant too. It can't be easy doing all that she's doing with her pregnancy, she dey try. |
The Voice's style of eliminating many people at once is quite annoying. I don't know if I'm the only one who feels this season was too short. Only three live performances and then the finale. We haven't seen so much of the contestants. They wasted time with the blind auditions and battles. |
closerange:That's what happens when too many good people are in one team... A lot of people who are better than some of the finalists have been eliminated. Jahtell is good but she stuck to one style of singing throughout.... |
enemmo:lol..... That's the way I feel too. I'm indifferent about who should win. I don't know who to vote for. Maybe if Bada was still on the show I would have voted for him. Presently, I don't have any favourite. |
crazygod:As in ehn.... The song 'aye le o, ibosi o' comes to mind |
