Secondly, a Tiv man respects what we call "Tyo" that is your kinsmen. If your kinsmen tell you to stop a particular thing you're doing in the community and you refuse to stop it, you die! It is very common. That's why the "Tyo" in Tiv land is not joked with. So the "Tyo" will have to call those guys to order. But the problem again is, the kinsmen are of different factions. Some are for Sen. Suswam while others are for Sen. Udende. So until they is harmony and everyone collectively say NO! It won't stop.

Thirdly, nobody is above the government. The government has done pretty well and must be commended. However, government needs to take caution while dealing with them. When the government starts, they run o and act like everywhere is calm. But one attack from those guys is deadly.

Those guys are unpredictable. Though their activities are not so horrible as before the death of Gana, they still carry out killings but not as daily or weekly as it use to be. It is still a place to be careful because of the infiltration of guns.

Ukum Local government has never experienced peace since the regime of former governor Gabriel Suswam. He empowered those guys with arms and encouraged millitia in that area. As a typical unlearned and a majority of uneducated people who were exposed to gaining power through violence, they embraced gun violence as a way of Life.

This act gave rise to people like the late Gana and a host of other people. Rivalry between groups then took a course in that area and to calm down the violence has been a major problem. Efforts were made by past government to cleanse those people of guns but it is too late. If a 10 year-old child warns you and tells you to very careful, please do because the next may be your death. They don't do childish Aye or eiya or whatever cult rivalry, what they know is how can you shot a gun. The same Ukum people recently kidnapped a serving commissioner and killed a former chairman that they kidnapped alongside the Commissioner.

The worst part of it is that, as soon as the government comes after them, they 'run into the bush'.

Ukum is where we have the largest Yam market in Africa. They produce the largest quantity of yams in the whole of Nigeria. They are so rich because of the yam business but majority of them are uneducated (they didn't go to school because they farm yams, sell and make money) and got exposed to modernity during the government of former governor Gabriel Suswam. Because of the so much money they have, buying guns is not a problem to them.

Amnesty has never worked because someone who has 5 guns may surrender 3 and keep 2. Or surrender 4 and keep 1. And because of what they did to Gana who was killed after surrendering himself, they no longer trust the government. The best that has worked so far is the government killing gang leaders. And it will surprise you to know that a member of a gang will derive joy in being the leader of gang to be killed and then they boast of 'even the government is looking for me'.

Only God can help with the situations in Ukum, Katsina-ala and Logo governments. But the worst is Ukum Local Government.

So, the May 30, 1967 secession (Done just 3 days after General Yakubu Gowon created the 12 new states on May 27, 1967) and carving out of the homelands of the Niger Delta ethnic minorities by the young 33-year-old Ojukwu was very illegal and this is why the United Nations never recognized the so-called secession because the ethnic minorities where fiercely against it and also petitioned the UN.

More than 99.99% of the indigenes of today's Cross Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, and Rivers States REJECTED the forced illegal biafra secession from Nigeria in 1967. Philip Effiong who was an Ibibio man and was Ojukwu's senior in military rank was an isolated case for reasons best known to him. 99% of Ibibios rejected secession and till today, many families remember their loved ones who who brutally killed by rebels who termed them as saboteurs! Many people of the Niger Delta were conscripted to join the rebel fighters against their will during the exactly 2 years and 6 months Nigerian Civil War, and those who resisted like the iconic Ikwerre writer and officer in the Nigerian Army 3rd Marine Commando, Dr. Elechi Amadi were locked up and/or brutally shot dead by the Ibo-dominated rebels.

It was the liberation of Port Harcourt by the Nigerian Army 3rd Marine Commando led by Col. Benjamin Adekunle, Alani Akinrinade, Alabi-Isama, Ijaw officers such as Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro, etc, that rescued Elechi Amadi from rebel prisons in PH. Elechi Amadi who was a military man prior to 1967 then joined the 3rd Marine Commando to fight the rebels.
