The family of deceased Nollywood actor, Obinna Nwafor (aka Saint Obi) has described as ‘’false, malicious and insensitive'' the claims made by movie maker, Zik Zulu, that Lynda, wife of the deceased actor maltreated him during their marriage, IGBERETV reports.
Two days ago, Zik Zulu published an article in which he claimed that Obi's marriage to Lynda was largely troubled. According to him, Saint Obi withdrew from everyone including his colleagues in the movie industry shortly after his marriage. He alleged that Obi had a running battle with his inlaws, who saw him as a golddigger because his wife is a top shot in a Telecommunication company.
Zulu's revelation got many Nigerians shocked and some Nigerians took to social media to attack Lynda.
However, in a statement signed by his older sisters, Ugoeze Edith Chinyere Obichuku and Mrs. Freda Nwachukwu, the family dissociated themselves from Zik Zuku's claims. The family described the allegations as false, malicious and insensitive and that they do not in any way represent the Lynda they know.

RE: DEMISE OF SAINT OBI (MR. OBINNA NWAFOR)
Our attention has been drawn to the publication by one Mr. Zik Zulu Okafor concerning the death of our son, Mr. Obinna Nwafor, popularly known as Saint Obi, and the accompanying negative commentary in social and other media portraying his widow in an unfair and most defamatory manner. This is in no way, shape or form an accurate portrayal of the Lynda that we know and relate with.
The Nwafor family also views the said article by Mr. Okafor as sad and most unfortunate. It was neither written in consultation with any member of the family nor authored with our consent or authority. We totally disassociate ourselves from it.
The views and allegations contained therein are entirely the opinion of the writer. They are false, malicious and insensitive to the wife, children and entire family he left behind.
This is a mourning period for the family, and while we appreciate the condolences of friends, fans, and well-wishers, we ask that the family’s privacy be respected at this time.
The funeral rites will be communicated to the public in due course.

Kidnappers Accidentally Shoot Gang Member While Attempting Abduction In Kano (Photos)
Three suspected kidnappers, Idris Abdullahi, Tukur Yusuf, and Ilyasu Aminu, have been arrested for attempting to kidnap a man and his son in Yarimawa village, Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State, IGBERETV reports.
Parading the suspects alongside others criminals, the State Commissioner of Police (CP) Muhammed Usaini Gumel said the kidnappers stormed the residence of one Nasiru Yayaya and attempted to kidnap him and his son, Gaddafi.
However, the son resisted, which led to a fight. While trying to shoot Gaddafi, the kidnappers shot their gang member, who died on the spot.
"On 16/03/2023 at about 0100hrs, a report was received that gunmen stormed the residence of one Nasiru Yahaya, Yarimawa Village, Tofa LGA, Kano State, where they kidnapped him and his son, one Gaddafi Nasiru,” the CP said.
"In the process, the son resisted. In an attempt to shoot the son, they shot their colleague, one Umar Abdullahi, Alias Danbaba who died on the spot. The father escaped.
"Also, in an attempt to whisk the son, they shot two villagers on their legs who came to offer assistance. The victims were rushed to Tofa General Hospital, and they were treated and discharged.
“In a follow-up of the investigation, the following suspects were arrested; (i) Idris Abdullahi, ‘m’, 26 years of Janguza, Tofa LGA (ii) Tukur Yusuf, ‘m’, 40 years old, of Langyal, Tofa LGA, and (iii) Ilyasu Aminu, ‘m’, 25 years old, of Gargai Village, Bebeji LGA Kano State. Investigation is in progress."
Movie producer, Zik Zulu Okafor has narrated how actor Saint Obi's marriage took him away from his friends and acting, IGBERETV reports.
In an article he shared after Obi's death, Okafor who is also a former President of Association of Movie Producers of Nigeria revealed that the actor's wife was a top executive in a telecommunication company and her siblings always saw him as a “gold digger”.
He revealed that Saint Obi was always harassed by his wife's siblings and this eventually led to the end of the marriage. Okafor disclosed that the actor's health deteriorated mid last year before his eventual death.

"His social life was blunted. Perhaps by his reticent disposition. His persona, two dimensional. To a distant public, he was upscale and cool. His manly bearing spoke loud. His onscreen image ironically amplified some idiosyncrasies; heroics, romantic adventures and traits that did not gel with the mortal privacy that eerily define his quiet and lonely life.
"Saint Obi, real name, Obinna Nwafor, was shy, almost bordering on timidity and insecurity. He cherished the pleasantly tranquil interactions among a few friends. He would vanish at any outburst that could upset the poise of such small meetings. As he repeatedly told me, he just wanted to live a cool, quiet and fulfilled life. But, has he lived this cool and fulfilled life he envisioned ? I have my doubts.
"I tell Saint’s story here with painful tears in my eyes; because he was a star, a super star whose life turned out a gleam of irony. Yet, it was this stardom that fetched him his much professed financially strong and powerful wife. And their wedding, that solemn ritual of love, would drastically alter the cause of his life and tragically yank him off the creative community that threw him up for the wife to capture and indeed conquer.
"Their marriage was at best a dramatisation of love. It was quick. He barely told us that he found a wife. Then, the marriage happened. It was something of a mystique, only those involved understood the histrionics that played out. None of us who were his closest pals, who walked with him through the crucible to the crest of his career in Nollywood, was invited. The distance between us and the guy I admirably called Saint of the Storm had begun. This gulf would widen with each year. We saw him perhaps once in a year after this marriage.
"And life actually seemed to have given him a fair shake of the dice. He dressed well, drove big cars and even his skin, in literal lingo, spelt wellness.
"The Saint would be blessed with three beautiful children. But not one occasion were his friends in Nollywood invited for christening or birthday. We were told that his wife was of the topmost hierachy in telecom giant, MTN . But even if their celebrations were designed to be a rendezvous of the elites of the technocracies that his wife chiefly belonged, you expected that Saint would reach out to a few of his fellow creatives, for even if they would herald his small beginnings, there could be no tinge of shame to it because we all have our journeys and our stories. And even at that, the actor or cineaste in Nollywood is by no means poor.
"But more tragic is the fact that his marriage did not only take away Obinna from his friends, it took him away from Nollywood. Saint stopped acting, absconded from his career and perhaps his calling.
"It would seem prognostic now. Yes, because I recall leaving my house in Lagos Mainland for his massive office in Lekki, Victoria Island, Lagos. It was about six years ago. There, I demanded to know why my friend abandoned our industry. He told me with his usual shy expressions that he wanted to focus on some other businesses and also to work behind the camera. Because his visage was unconvincing to me, I told him in stark terms, that whatever his new vision and pursuits, he must not abandon the trade that made him who he was.
"It took another three years for Saint to return to his homies. But when he did, some of the deeply disappointed ones sniggered behind him. This was because the simmering rumours of cracks in his marriage had hit home. And though secretive in his ways, he knew it was time to open up. And he did. “I do not know why my wife’s sibblings see me as a gold digger. They confront me, harass and fight me in my own matrimony.And my wife did nothing to stop them. I work hard, I earn my money. I have never depended on my wife”, he lamented, eyes blurred with tears. You could tell he was in deep pain. By the next visit, the Saint returned with a deep cut from knife on his left eye. His wife’s brothers, he said, scaled the wall fence of their house to attack him. They were captured by hidden closed-circuit television, CCTV, installed for surveillance and security, he revealed.
"He reported them at the police station and subsequently acquired a gun to defend himself. This effectively marked the beginning of the end of his marriage and perhaps Saint Obi’s long walk to a sad end. He moved out of his marital home to a new house to begin the reconstruction of his destiny, alone without his wife and worse still without his three beautiful children.
"Meanwhile, his wife went to the police to defend her sibblings using her financial power to manipulate the cause of justice, Saint stated unequivocally. The wife also sued for divorce, not in Lagos, but in Ogun state. As Saint put it, “It was to make the journey difficult for me. But I will not bend neither will I break. I will fight with my last blood to take custody of my children. They love me and they know it will be hard for me to live without them. The divorce is not an issue. My marriage has long been over”, he said with a mix of courage and a quaky heart that betrayed his distress.
"About mid last year, however, Obinna took ill. But he told no one. He simply became scarce. He was in and out of hospital, we would later learn. He sold two of his three big SUVs to take proper care of his health and to acquire six camry cars he’d use for Uber. But his vanishing health continued unabated. He seemed to have a premonition of his own passing as he wept repeatedly about not seeing his children. He emaciated. Life took a grim picture. When I saw him by chance in January 2023, the dude called Saint looked 15 years older than his age. His macho cut had shrunk. His fat wallet was gone. What was left was only his fat will. His eyes seemed lost in their socket. This would be the last time I would see him.
"Saint snuck out of Lagos to hang in with his sister in Jos. He told no one. But a month ago, in April precisely, the once delightful actor who brought joy to many a home broke his icy silence. He called our mutual friend in US to give him a devastating message. He was on a deathbed, he said and wanted our friend to pray for him. “It’s not looking good, pray, pray for me”, he appealed passionately.
"His next call came on May 1, 2023. This time to his mentor, the man who made him a star with his productions, Zeb Ejiro, OON. He told him with a wavering voice that he had had three surgeries but was still in hospital in Jos. He averred again that his situation was not looking good, that he is also in a deep pain, distressed that he could not see his children. But still he begged him not to tell anyone about his ailment. Such was the life of this creative hermit, a lonely trouper. I was the first to hear the news of his death late on Sunday, May 7. Having confirmed it, I called Zeb Ejiro. “I have a very bad news my brother, Zeb”, I began.
“What is it, what is it, Zik Zulu?”, he asked anxiously. “A big star has fallen in Nollywood”. Zeb broke down in tears. I hadn’t said who it was. But sobbing helplessly now, he said, “Don’t tell me it is Saint Obi”. Sadly, Zeb was right. May his soul find peace."
An Ekiti State High Court in Ado Ekiti, on Monday, May 15, sentenced three persons to death by hanging for conspiracy and armed robbery, IGBERETV reports.
The defendants: Omotayo Deji, 23, Chidiebere Ifeanyi, 25, and Bolaji Usman, 28, were arraigned before Justice Bamidele Omotoso on January 21, 2020, on a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy and armed robbery.
The charge reads that the defendants on “May 6, 2019, at Aba Erinfun, Federal Polytechnic Road, Ado Ekiti in Ado Ekiti Judicial Division did conspire to commit a felony, to wit; armed robbery and robbed Ademiloye Stephen, Olokuntoye Temitope and Ajayi Kolade of their belongings, such as phones, laptop computer, sandals, phone chargers and power banks valued at N186,000, as at the time of the robbery. They were armed with cutlass and wooden plank,"
According to the charges, the alleged offences contradicted Sections 6 (b), 1 (2) (a) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Cap. RII, Vol. 14, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
One of the victims in his statement to the police, said: “We were sleeping in our room at about 2:30 a.m., suddenly, I heard a loud sound on the door, immediately, we woke up, I saw the defendants armed with cutlass and wooden plank, immediately, they broke the electric bulb with the plank in their hand. They commanded us to lay face down and bring out all our money. We told them that we are students and we don’t have money, but they started beating us on our backs with sticks and cutlasses.
“Thereafter, they started collecting our phones, laptops, chargers, sandals, power banks and others I could not remember and ran away. We were later shouting for help but nobody came out.”
To prove his case, the police prosecutor, Kunle-Shina Adeyemo, called one witness and tendered statements of the victims and defendants, as well as phones among others as exhibits.
The defendants testified through their counsels, without calling witnesses.
In his judgement, Justice Bamidele Omotoso said, "I am of the strong opinion that the prosecution has proved beyond reasonable doubt the offence of armed robbery against the defendants.
"They are hereby found guilty as charged and convicted for the offence of armed robbery.
“The sentence of the court upon you, Omotayo Deji, Chidiebere Ifeanyi, and Bolaji Usman is that you be hanged by the neck until you are dead, and may the Lord have mercy on your souls.”
Singer Seun Kuti spent the night in police custody after he was placed under arrest on Monday May 15, IGBERETV reports.
The singer who turned himself in yesterday, was detained as police couldn't complete their investigation into allegations of assault leveled against him. Recall that the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali, ordered the singer's arrest after a video of him slapping and pushing a police officer surfaced online.
Seun was moved from the Lagos state police command headquarters in Ikeja to the State Criminal Investigation Department Yaba where he was interrogated into the night. He was then moved to a cell where he passed the night.
Police sources said he may be arraigned in court today depending on the outcome of his interrogation.
Nigerian lawyer, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika has faulted the decision of the police to take photos of singer Seun Kuti, share them online as well as handcuff him, IGBERETV reports.
Olumide-Fusika who accompanied Seun Kuti to the Lagos state police command headquarters on Monday, stated that the process was illegal, as it constitutes a violation of the Administration of Criminal Justice law.
The lawyer also argued that taking Seun's photos and posting them online violates section 9 of the Lagos State Administration of Criminal Justice Law, which has prohibited any form of parade of criminal suspects in Nigeria in Lagos State. He argued that Seun is presumed innocent until the contrary is proved by the State
His statement read;
‘’Following his encounter with a policeman on the Third Mainland Bridge on Saturday the 13th May, 2023, my client, Mr. Seun Kuti reported himself in the office of the Commissioner of Police at the Police Command, Ikeja, at 8 am today Monday May 15, 2023.
I accompanied him to the Ikeja police station together with another lawyer, Mr. Femi Akinyemi from Falana and Falana chambers.
However, there was no interrogation as it was decided he would be moved to the Force Criminal Investigation Unit at Panti, Yaba. Before his movement, Mr. Seun Kuti, was handcuffed and his photograph was taken in the open by the Lagos PPRO, Mr. David Hundeyin who coordinated the parade and apparently shared the photograph of his parade in the media.
Mr. Kuti is presumed innocent until the contrary is proved by the State. Therefore, the decision of the police to subject him to the media parade violates section 9 of the Lagos State Administration of Criminal Justice Law, which has prohibited any form of parade of criminal suspects in Nigeria in Lagos State. The Police is supposed to enforce the Law, but prefers to disrespect and break it so casually and randomly. A Police institution that has no respect for the law it exists to enforce is not a good example to alleged law breakers.
The decision of the police to handcuff Mr. Kuti is equally illegal as it constitutes a violation of Section 5 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law.
After handcuffing him, the Police then drove him in a long convoy of heavily armed personnel from Ikeja to Panti Lagos, where he was again displayed for viewing to the men and officers of that police formation, and is currently held.
We await the next move of the Police on the misdemeanor alleged against Mr. Seun Kuti.''
Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson, has lost her father, Johnson Ametuo Daniel IGBERETV reports.
She shared the news in a post shared on her Instagram account on Friday.
The actress shared a throwback birthday video of her father and wrote,

As Nigerians await the hearing of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal which will start on Monday May 8, former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (rtd), has urged Nigerians to accept the decisions of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal as final when delivered, IGBERETV reports.
Speaking at a symposium in honour of a one-time Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Chike Idigbe on Thursday, May 4, Gowon urged Nigerians to allow the courts do its work without interference.
“We need to allow the apex court to come up with their decisions and for the public to be humble enough to accept their decision as final in order to maintain the sanctity of the judiciary as individuals and institutions.
“The litigation tribunals that are now going, let us give the judiciary the opportunity to do their work and let us accept their decisions as it is,” Gowon said.

Peter Obi and Atiku are claiming to be the actual winners of the February 25 presidential election which was conducted the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Big Brother Naija star, Tochi, has called out Nigerians who overwork their domestic staff, IGBERETV reports.
In a post shared on his Instastories, Tochi stated that a Nigerian will employ a chef and use him or her for other domestic activities while paying the person a static salary.

A 22-year-old man identified as Ibrahim Musa stabbed his biological mother to death in Kano, IGBERETV reports.
According to report, the incident happened around 6:pm on Wednesday, May 3, in Rimin Kebbe Quarters, Nassarawa Local Government Area of the state.
Spokesperson of the command, DSP Abdullahi Kiyawa Haruna, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday, said the deceased, Hajara Muhammad, was brutally stabbed with a sharp knife.
The PPRO said tactical teams are currently on the ground to ensure the arrest of the fleeing suspect.
“On 3rd May 2023 at about 1800hrs (6pm), a report was received that one Ibrahim Musa, 'm', 22 years old of Rimin Kebbe Quarters, Nassarawa LGA, Kano State stabbed his biological mother, one Hajara Mohammed, 'f', 50 years old with a sharp knife on different parts of her body and fled the scene,” the PPRO stated.
“On receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, FIPMA, psc directed the immediate deployment of all police assets to ensure that the perpetrator(s) are brought to book as soon as practicable,”
"The body with multiple injuries was removed from the scene in a pool of blood and rushed to Mohammed Abdullahi Wase Specialist Hospital Kano where a Medical Doctor certified the body dead.
“A knife with a blood stain suspected to have been used in the attack was recovered at the scene. Tactical teams are currently on the ground to ensure the arrest of the culprit(s).”
Nigerian Doctors In Borno Successfully Remove Arrow Shot To A Girl's Heart (Photos)
Some medical doctors at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital have been applauded for successfully removing an arrow that was mistakenly shot to the chest of a 13-year-old girl, IGBERETV reports.
The arrow fired at the teenager pierced her heart and abdomen. When she was rushed to the teaching hospital, many thought she will not make it alive.

Chimamanda Adichie Reacts To Claims Of Supporting Peter Obi In Her Letter To Biden
Renowned Nigerian writer, Chimamanda Adichie said that her open letter to US President, Joe Biden, was not because of her support for Labour Party's presidential candidate, Peter Obi, IGBERETV reports.
Chimamanda in her letter said that the 2023 presidential election that declared Bola Tinubu, winner was rigged.

I Went Into Robbery To Give My Mum A Befitting Burial - Suspect Arrested In Delta (Photos)
A 24-year-old robbery suspect arrested in Delta State, Chinagorom Emmanuel, has confessed that he went into robbery to enable him to raise money and give his late mother a befitting burial, IGBERETV reports.
Emmanuel who was arrested by men of Agbor Gha-Ihun Vigilante Group in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of the state, hails from Abia State.
He specialised in stealing phones and other valuable items in Agbor and other communities.
Speaking to newsmen, Emmanuel said he is an electrical technician but resorted to stealing to give his mother whose body is lying in the mortuary, a befitting burial as the first son.
“I enter people's shops pretending to buy an item. But I aim to steal valuable items like phones. This is my first time in Agbor, and I met my waterloo in one of my victim’s shops,” he said.
Speaking further, he said he chose crime since he has nobody to help him. Emmanuel also disclosed that he deals with a northerner based in Asaba, who buys the stolen phones.
He pleaded for forgiveness, as he admitted that his criminal activities had disgraced him.
However, the Chairman of Agbor Gha-Ihun Vigilante, Comrade Monday Kiyem, said Emmanuel will be made to face the wrath of the law for causing people pain over their stolen goods. Kiyem said;
“Emmanuel is in the business of stealing phones. We have found many sim cards and phones in his possession and many of his victims we succeeded in calling complained that their phones were stolen.
“Some of their Agbor victims have come to our office to identify their phones and narrated how Emmanuel came to their shops pretending to buy an item and stole their phones. I will hand Emmanuel over to the police for further investigation and bring his fleeing gang members to book."
Students Protest Murder Of AAUA Graduate Over N1000 Debt (Photos)
There was pandemonium at Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba, Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State, after Temitayo, a recent graduate of the institution was fatally stabbed by an indigene over a 1,000 naira payment misunderstanding, IGBERETV reports.
Temitayo, was stabbed with scissors in the early hours of Thursday, April 6, around Ebenco filling, opposite Akua junction, Akungba. Temitayo was rushed to Aduloju Hospital along Iwaro road where he later succumbed to his injuries.
IGBERETV gathered that Temitayo recently graduated from the department of Physics Electronics and was still in the school waiting to defend his undergraduate project.
The University’s Student Union source told newsmen that Temitayo had intervened in a naira payment dispute between an “Egbon Adugbo” and a third party, where he promised to settle the bill for the latter.
Temidayo was able to reimburse the perpetrators 3000 naira out of the 4000 naira but was unable to pay the remaining 1,000 naira outstanding which resulted into an argument causing the death of the fresh graduate.
“A guy (the third party) was owing them money,” the source said “and he told them (the perpetrators) that he will help the guy to pay the money to avoid drama. So he paid 3k out of the 4K and couldn’t raise the last 1k. So they started disturbing him and he said they should stop disturbing him that he did not owe them that he only rendered a help and this afternoon(today) a guy came into the villa.”
“As usual they acted as Egbon ADUGBO to collect money. So he said he can’t give them, which led into an argument as if they’d meant to deal with him … and they came from nowhere to stab him after a lot of arguments and they scattered the villa with bottles and spoiled our gate.”
According to BigSam Pelumi Akerele's Facebook post, angry students of the institution burnt the family house of the indigene who is on the run.
"Students have trooped out in search of the Indigene, his family House has been reportedly burnt by angry Students, but he is yet to be located as at the time of filing this report.", BigSam wrote.

Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri has stated that Labour Party's presidential candidate, Peter Obi will get less votes than he did on February 25, if the Election Petition Tribunal orders a rerun, IGBERETV reports.

Popular Nigerian comedian, Okey Bakassi has reacted to criticisms meted out on Labour Party's presidential candidate, Peter Obi over a purported leaked audio conversation between the LP candidate and Founder of the Living Faith Church, Bishop Oyedepo, IGBERETV reports.
Peter Obi appealed to Oyedepo to help him galvanize Christian votes from the Southwest, as was heard in the leaked audio.

The Police Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, has said that Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola (a.k.a. Portable) will be facing more than six-count charge when he appears at the court following his unruly conduct and incitement against police officers, IGBERETV reports.
The controversial singer was arrested by men of the Ogun state police command on Friday, March 31.
In a post on Twitter, Adejobi stated that Portable will be facing six count charges against him. His tweets read;
"Portable has more than 6 count charges to attend to, apart from resisting arrest and injuring a police man. He will be charged to court for beating up a guy in otta, who fired a petition to CP Ogun.
"There are many pending cases of assaults on people and attacks, and he will be investigated bc pple have complained against him.
"So, there is no sentiment in law, let him appear in court, and allow the judge to listen to the charges against him. He has no constitutional immunity anyway. Ire o."
I Will Not Grant My Wife Divorce Until She Swears Before Deity - Man Tells Abuja
A man identified as Sunday Enejo, begged a Customary Court in Jikwoyi, Abuja not to grant his wife divorce until she swears before a deity that she was not engaged in an extramarital affair, IGBERETV reports.
In a divorce petition filed by his wife, Rose, a businesswoman, she alleged that Enejo was a violent man and constantly beat her. Enejo refused to grant Rose the divorce until she swears before ‘Aniku’ (a holistic deity).
"I will not grant my wife divorce until she follows me to the village to swear before “Aniku” that she is not having an extramarital affair." he told the court.
However, the presiding judge, Labaran Gusau, adjourned the matter until April 4, 2023, for a hearing.
Former Governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose has threatened to file a lawsuit against the Peoples Democratic Party for suspending him, IGBERETV reports.
Eventhough Fayose's suspension has been reversed, he described the suspension as "libellous" and "defamatory". He claimed it was done to tarnish his image.
Fayose's lawyer, Akinwale Kol-Taiwo, has written a letter to PDP's acting national chairman, Iliya Damagum.
The letter dated March 31 read;
“We are further informed by our client that by the letter dated 24th March 2023, the reversal of our client’s suspension from Peoples Democratic Party which was done without recourse to laid down procedure/due process of law as contained in the constitution of the Peoples Democratic Party (as amended in 2017) was requested,” the letter reads.
“The Peoples Democratic Party, in retracing its steps and by implication admitting the content of the letter dated 24th March 2023, reversed the suspension of our client by a press release issued on 30th March 2023 through the office of the national publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party.
“The aforesaid libellous press release was designed to smear and tarnish the good reputation of our client in the eyes of right-thinking members of the society, as well as to subject our client to odium, ridicule, and public opprobrium in presence of his political associates and the general public.
“While we do not contend that the Peoples Democratic Party reserve the power(s) to take disciplinary action against any erring member(s), it is much more pertinent to state that the said power(s) to take disciplinary action is not absolute, the said power(s) to take disciplinary action is limited to doctrine of fair hearing as enshrined in the Peoples Democratic Party Constitution (as amended in 2017) and the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999) as amended. As such, your disciplinary powers must not be seen to infringe on the right of another citizen or person.
“There is no doubt that the action of the national working committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (NWC) in this purported suspension saga acted rashly on baseless and unfounded allegations, thereby making our party — the Peoples Democratic Party — not just look weak, but disorganised.”
Kol-Taiwo said he will commence legal actions against PDP, if the party fails to issue an apology to Fayose within 72 hours of receiving the letter.
Nigerian singer, Davido said he feels that the 2023 general elections were not credible, IGBERETV reports.
In a recent interview with BeatFM, the singer was asked about his overview of the just concluded general elections. Responding, he said;
‘’I am happy that people were not really coming at me because they know if I was online I would b*tch. I will be vocal, I have always been vocal about it. I wasn't happy about it. That's just being honest. It is what it is. I personally don't feel like that was a credible election.''
Domestic Worker Sentenced To Death For Killing His Employer And Her Daughter In Lagos (Photos)
The Ikeja High Court on Monday, March 27, sentenced a domestic staff, Joseph Ogbu, to death by hanging for killing his 89-year-old employer, Ajoke John and her daughter, Oreoluwa John, 38, in Lagos, IGBERETV reports.
It was reported that the convict, who hails from Oju Local Govt Area of Benue State, brutally murdered the victims at their residence at Number 4 Ogunlana Drive in Surulere, on June 19, 2019, 24 hours after he was employed.
The defence counsel, Moses Enema, in his allocutus, prayed the court to have mercy on the convict.
However, the state counsel, Olarewaju Daud, urged the court to convict the defendant as charged.
Daud told the court that the convict committed the offences at 9:30 p.m. on Ogunlana Drive, Surulere, Lagos.
The prosecution submitted that the defendant killed Ms Oreoluwa by stabbing her. He said the defendant also robbed the deceased of her car, phones and Plasma TV while armed with a knife.
He also said the convict, armed with a knife, robbed the octogenarian of her Toyota Camry Saloon car with Registration No. FST 104 CW, LG plasma TV, motorway handset, Gionee handset, Nokia phone, i-Tel Phone and power bank.
The offence, the prosecutor said, contravened sections 222 and 297 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State (2015).
Justice Modupe Nicole-Clay held that the prosecution had sufficiently proven the three-count charge bordering on armed robbery and murder against the convict. Nicole-Clay held that the defendant confessed to the crime as he admitted to living with the deceased and was the only witness of the incident.
"He killed Adejoke by strangling her and Oreoluwa by stabbing her to death. As the defence did not raise an objection to the admissibility of the confessional statement, there is no doubt that the defendant confessed to the crimes.
“I have considered the evidence of the security guard, an Okada man, one Yahya Ibrahim, the house help and a police Inspector.
The defendant could not explain what he was doing with all the stolen items he was found with at about 2:00 a.m. on the date he was arrested.
“The court is satisfied with the total evidence to establish the guilt of the defendant.
“This court has found Joseph Ogbu guilty of these heinous crimes, and you are hereby sentenced to death by hanging. May God have mercy on your soul,”
The convict prayed the court for mercy. “The mama no die for my presence. I beg for mercy,” the convict cried in pidgin English.
Former Kaduna senator, Shehu Sani, has prayed for an accurate and credible conduct of the 2023 national population and housing census, IGBERETV reports.
Taking to his Twitter handle on Sunday, March 26, he wrote;

Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike has said he won’t run away from Nigeria due to the fear of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), after May 29, when his tenure expires, IGBERETV reports.
The governor was reacting to recent revelations by the Chairman of EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, that the agency would arrest corrupt governors whose tenures end on May 29.
The governor while speaking on Channels Television breakfast programme, SUNRISE on Monday, said he would gladly honour the EFCC if invited at the end of his tenure on May 29.
In his words;
“I’m not going to run away because of EFCC. Why should they invite me? If they invite me, I will honour their invitation. I will not run away.”
The federal government has announced that the National Population and Housing Census will begin on 3rd May 2023, IGBERETV reports.
Dr. Garba Abari, a member of the Publicity and Advocacy Committee on 2023 National Population and Housing Census, said the three-day exercise would start on May 3 and end on May 5 across the country.
Abari, who is the Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), said the census would capture every person, household and structure for national planning and project execution purposes.
He further said that the change in the date was due to the postponement of this year’s governorship and Houses of Assembly elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Abari said;
“That change by INEC made it mandatory for us to also adjust the date for the conduct of the exercise. The census had to be put forward from the initial date of March 29 to April 2, now to May 3 to 5.
“There are two things that informed the shift in date. First, in the course of our planning by the National Population Commission, it was so factored that INEC would also tinker with its own electoral timetable.
“The governorship election, as you are aware, had to be shifted by one week. This had a telling effect on the date of commencement of the census.
“Just like election, the census is also a very long process: from the training, the sub-trainings, retraining leading up till the very day of the actual house listing and numbering.
“These will then be followed by the actual capture of the population.”
On how prepared they are for the exercise, Abari said;
“Most of the information that has gone out to the public about the census, like the awareness creation, sensitisation, enlightenment, advocacy around the census, has all been taking place.
“Perhaps, not on a scale that will make us feel comfortable to say every Nigerian is now census conscious, census aware, despite the very significant role that it has to play in our national life.
“But, clearly, the census is absolutely important because it is for development, planning, security, infrastructure development, educational, health and other demographic considerations all encapsulating in one.”

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele, has apologised to Nigerians for the rise in failed electronic banking transactions, IGBERETV reports.
Emefiele made the apology at the end of the two-day monetary policy committee meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, March 22.

“I must apologise. Yes, online channels fail. But no doubt it is as a result of the deluge of online transactions that hit the banking industry. But it is being resolved.
