DJ Killed For Refusing To Play Song At Club In Kenya (Photos)
A 27-year-old disc jockey (DJ) based in Kilifi county, Kenya, has reportedly died after being allegedly assaulted while at work at a local hotel, IGBERETV reports.
Salim Moriasi alias DJ Goodie's family alleged that he was killed on Christmas Day at about 1:00 am after a scuffle at the County Lux Comfort Hotel in Marikanani.
The late entertainer's family spokesperson George Abuga said he died from injuries he sustained after he failed to play a song requested by some of the revelers.
The DJ was rushed to Mariakani Sub-county Hospital where he succumbed while receiving treatment.
Abuga said an autopsy conducted at the Coast General Hospital mortuary revealed that the deceased died of cardiorespiratory arrest and severe head injury.
He said;
“I attended the postmortem. The damage on the body indicated that it was by a combat person."
Asides from alleging that DJ Goodie's employer attempted to interfere with investigations into the incident, the family also accused the club's management of booking the deceased as an unknown patient at the Mariakani Sub-county Hospital even though he's worked for them for six years.
The hospital, in its report, said persons who booked DJ Goodie at the hospital reported that he fell down flight stairs.
Abuga added;
“The murder was grievous, and the same club claims its long-time worker was an unknown Kenyan male. Our son was brutally murdered in cold blood by known people, and clips are circulating all over, and so far, nobody is in custody.
“Those who took him to the hospital told the doctor that he was a drunkard found lying on the floor. However, the doctor looked at him and recommended a CT scan. We call upon the police to move swiftly and arrest the killers.”
Kaloleni Sub County Police Commander Alexander Makau who confirmed the incident, said an investigation into the alleged murder is ongoing.
Makau also said the police has retrieved CCTV footage from the entertainment joint for analysis.
He added;
“The postmortem report has confirmed the murder of the deceased. We are up to the task to ensure we bring all the culprits on board for legal action.
"We were waiting for the family to bury their kin then we swing into action."
The Federal Government says it will soon make a pronouncement on salary increase for civil servants to meet up with the economic realities in the country occasioned by inflation, IGBERETV reports.
Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, made this known while fielding questions from State House correspondents in Abuja.
The minister said a Presidential Committee on Salaries is currently reviewing salaries with a plan to announce its decision in early 2023.
The minister had recently hinted that the government would adjust workers salaries to cushion the effect of rising costs of living in the country.
Answering questions on the issue, Ngige said:
"Yes, I am saying that the Presidential Committee on Salaries is working hand-in-hand with the National Salaries Incomes and Wages Commission. "The commission is mandated by the Act establishing them to fix salaries, wages, and emoluments in not only the public service.
"If you want their assistance and you are in the private sector, they will also assist you. They have what is called the template for remuneration, for compensation.
"So, if you work, you get compensated, if you don’t work, you will not be compensated.
"So they have the matrix to do the evaluation. They are working with the Presidential Committee on Salaries chaired by the finance ministry and I am the co-chair to look at the demands of the workers.
"Outside this, I said discussions on that evaluation are ongoing."
When asked if a time line has been fixed for implementation of new salary increase, Ngige said: "As we enter the new year government will make some pronouncements in that direction."

This sweet soul was kidnapped in the heart of State capital on Friday, and just yesterday evening, his lifeless body was seen at the road side.
I hereby join the good people of Anambra State to call for Gov Charles Chukwuma Soludo's impeachment. It'll interest you to know that under this actor's watch as a governor, Anambra State has lost many vibrant citizens to insecurity. If such a barbaric outing can take place in the capital city of the State, without any intelligence as regard to hunting the perpetrators of this humongous crime down, then I can confidently tell you that no person is safe down there. Not even his aides or all these House of assembly members that dubiously playing in gallery. And I've also foreseen this heading to where we will start celebrating their deaths, for refusing to do what they're elected to do. Impeach Soludo, he's notoriously incompetent!!! In the midst of all the deaths that's trolling our people, he's busy comparing himself to Nnamdi Azikiwe of the blessed memory... Gush!
Anyi, rest on bro... Your last pains and tears on their hands will hunt them down....

He said;
“The mode of attack by these hoodlums is complex because they throw bombs and dynamites, among others, from distances.
“We believe that in addition to providing physical security at the INEC offices, you should liaise with its officials to provide offices for our personnel.”
Baba advised INEC to consider relocating its offices or important materials to safer places.
He added;
“Existing INEC offices across the state should be relocated to safer places if possible but if not, important materials should be relocated to safer places.
“I appreciate all your efforts to protect lives and property in Ebonyi and the various forms of assistance by the state government to the force.”
Baba asked the state Government to allow the police supervise and regulate activities of the state security outfit, Ebubeagu.
He said;
“There is a law establishing the outfit and I am sure that its responsibilities fall under the supervision of the police.
“There is no problem with the outfit wearing uniforms because even community police officers wear uniforms.

The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences (Mobile) Court sitting at Bolade, Oshodi on Monday, December, 19, 2022 sentenced a fake LASTMA officer, David Oluchukwu) to a 4-month jail term for impersonating and extorting money from motorists particularly commercial bus drivers in Lagos, IGBERETV reports.
Oluchukwu,27, was arrested on Wednesday, December 14, around the Lekki area of Lagos while in the act.
The convicted fake Lastma Officer was arraigned by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on a 2-Count charges of "Conduct likely to cause breach of peace" and "Impersonation" before the court.
In a press statement released on Tuesday, by the Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of (LASTMA) Mr. Adebayo Taofiq quoted that Magistrate Adesanya Ademola sentenced David Oluchkwu to a 4-month jail term without any option of fine after he pleaded 'Guilty' to the 2- count charges levied against him.
Magistrate Adesanya emphasized that the convict should serve the 4 months jail term without any option fine due to the gravity of the offences committed.
The Court Prosecutor Barrister Agbaje Oladotun stated that both offences levied against the convict (Breach of Peace and Impersonation) contravened Section 168 (D) and Section 78 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State (2015) respectively.
In his reaction to the judgement, the General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) Mr Bolaji Oreagba said the judgement was a welcome development as it would serve as deterrent to others who are still extorting money from innocent members of public under false pretense.
According to Mr. Oreagba "Our Surveillance and Intelligence Unit which has now been fully restructured would continue to hunt for other bad elements disturbing the peace of the society"
The General Manager however urged motorists particularly commercial bus operators to adhere strictly to the dictates of the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law 2018.

The presidency has stated that the recent increase in migration is not peculiar to Nigeria alone, IGBERETV reports.
Speaking on a Channels Television program on Sunday, November 27, presidential aide, Femi Adesina stated that the average Nigerian have always wanted to leave and people should not equate it to something being wrong.
Adesina said;
“The average Nigerian had always wanted to leave. And it is not just in Nigeria. It is in most countries of the world, particularly in the third world.
“They always believe that it is greener on the other side.
“You see, the truth is that if you have an opportunity to better yourself in any part of the world, there is nothing wrong with it. If you think migrating legally is good for you, all well and good. By all means, go!
“But you cannot now say that because people are leaving, then it is a sign that something is fundamentally wrong.
“There are Nigerians who would never leave the country no matter how things are”.
Also, Adesina spoke about the country’s security, adding that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration would hand over a safer country.
He added;
“No doubt about it. He would leave a safer country. When he came in 2015, you could not be sure Nigeria would exist in the next one month. As of 2015, what was happening was that nobody could confidently say that Nigeria would be on the map in the following next week, month or year. But we saw that he came and took the battle to the insurgency.
“When he came, the insurgency was the main thing and he took the battle to them. Then, it became hydra-headed – banditry, kidnapping for ransom, cultism, and separatist agitations joined. How many challenges can one administration really confront? That’s the issue with the Buhari administration. From day one till now, it was from one challenge to the other.”
It's Now One Doctor To 10,000 Patients, 4000 Doctors Ready To Migrate Abroad – NARD
The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, NARD has warned that it is now a ratio of one doctor to 10,000 patients in the country while saying that 4,000 of its members are ready to migrate abroad for greener pastures, IGBERETV reports.
According to NARD the situation is as a result of government's "nonchalant attitudes to members’ salaries, welfare and other deserved packages."
NARD revealed that Nigeria had already lost 2,000 doctors to the other countries in the last two years and that Nigeria was well short of WHO’s recommended ratio of one doctor to 600 patients.
Although he admitted that mobility of labour was recognized anywhere in the world, he, however, said there were several reasons people can decide to leave their countries or migrate to other places, tasking government to find out the reasons and address them.
“Mobility of labour is recognized anywhere in the world." NARD president, Dr Emeka Orji, told news on Sunday, November 27.
“There are several reasons why people can decide to leave their counties or migrate to other places even to move from one state to the other in the same country to work ranging from welfare services, remuneration,working condition, security and other social issues."
“And what government should do is to try to find out why and then address it.
“That is what a serious government does, because the truth is that it is really a very serious problem in the health sector as we speak and we believe it is an emergency and that if nothing is done urgently to arrest the drift, we would come to a stage where we won’t have doctors in our hospitals.
“Over the past two years or so,we have lost over 2,000 doctors to an outside world and on average,we have lost between 100 to 160 doctors every month.
“We are not just talking about the low-level staff here,we are talking about the highly specialized doctors leaving the country.
“And when you undertake studies to know why they are leaving, 80 percent of them responded that it is because of poor remuneration.
“The salary structure we are using now came into being in 2009. That is over 13 years ago and part of th agreement we had with government then was that it should be reviewed after five years.
“And that five years was in 2014. Till now, we have been writing for it to be reviewed but we have not made any significant headway on that.
“You know the living conditions in 2009 compared to now with regards to inflation, dollar exchange rate and all that.
“As a matter of fact, somebody like me; I’m a senior registrar, but what I was paid in 2009 as a house officer, if you will get the dollar equivalent, you would realize that it was even more than what I’m being paid now.
“So there is nobody that will see that kind of thing and stay back, especially seeing a place where your work is better appreciated, that won’t be tempted to go there.
“As I’m talking to you now, we have found out that over 4,000 of our members have decided to migrate within the shortest possible time.
“And if that happens, I can assure you that it would be a disaster. It will lead to poor patient management and difficulty in assessing health care.
“Patients will have long clinic hours such that a patient that should ordinarily see a doctor within one hour can spend the whole day, because if you have one doctor attending to more patients than he should, of course, he won’t give in his best and even the patient would have to wait much longer to be attended to.
“The approved doctor-to-patient ratio by the World Health Organisation, WHO, is one to 600. That is one doctor to 600 patients.
“But currently in Nigeria, we are doing one doctor to 10,000. You can see the huge gap and it would continue to worsen if government doesn’t don’t do the right thing.”
