It may work if their opponents are doing the same. joshboo: |
@ greypencils, did you touch a live wire or sth? Do you need a second shock to reboot? Your boy Iverson is so efficient that Curry at the 3 is just as efficient. Do you even know what this means? |
No need for explanation. Anybody wey get strong heart make dem continue to craze on top this team. I will not become hypertensive because of one team. At least they are racking up wins this season, which I think they could have done last season. Many of their games were close. Na so so so up and down. Me just dey wait for playoffs. And abeg leave Skrrrrrrr, make him continue to hype this team. Na so him dey do every year. Him heart strong well well. You need those kind people for your corner. greypencils: |
Sorry for the late reply. If your definition of tribalism in this context is related to "a tendency to lean towards one player or another based on their tribe in Nigeria" then I would say I don't remember any of your opinions that fit this description. Of course, there's the long-standing sentiment that you lean toward English-born players. This sentiment is fair though, as there's history to back it up. It is also not an unreasonable bias on your part if you currently reside in the UK or have done so. I mean anyone would be more aware of their immediate environment. There are other reasons I think you have been doing this though. However, I maintain that tribalism is not a bad thing, and shouldn't be painted as such, but I get the irony it creates in the Nigerian context. komekn: |
No be you and your fellow Bronzites cause am? ![]() birdman: |
Why, are you looking to be awarded the most detribalized? . I didn't think you cared.komekn: |
Sorry, but no statement is more wrong. If you cannot do much of what you are getting, it's within reason to believe you wouldn't be any different with 100%. If they can break away the same leaders would still be leading. You made some factual statements, but your conclusions are at best interesting, and not necessarily well thought out. Delta has to share its resources with other parasitic states. That's correct. But an important question would be do you get anything in the meantime, relative to those parasites? What have you done with what you have retained/received via allocation? This is not to say that the Delta region should be denied the entirety of the revenue from oil, No. You cannot take most of what's mine because you think I can't manage the portion I am getting—such arrogance. I support the idea that every region should be allowed to manage its resources. But arguing that Akwa Ibom is not as developed as Qatar for example because it's not getting all the revenue from its oil is what's a problem, based on evidence. Are white institutions working against us? Absolutely. The world's market economy is such that, one country's continuous search for economic prosperity is ruining the economic prosperity of another. You don't even have to want to ruin another country. As long as you pursue economic prosperity another country would be diminishing in the direction of ruin.(Note, the use of direction, not that you are at the point of ruin). The activities of economic prosperity would force that imbalance. It is you who has to decide that, hell no, any other country but me can carry that burden. Were some African leaders with a passion for uplifting their respective countries Murdered? O yes. But what makes you think that's unique to us? Other countries that are currently at least fairly prosperous must have had that too. Do you think, during the Chinese opium crisis, and in the lead-up to the wars, some Chinese leaders looking to quash the opium problem were not murdered? Despite this, they kept at it. And once the opportunity for quantum economic jumps opened- for example, the US moving their manufacturing to China- they took it. Given the heavily capitalistic nature of the American economy, the US manufacturing industries were looking to extract more profit from the sale of their products. These pockets of opportunities open up and the question is can you see it? China for example is now exploring as others once did to them. They are in the driver's seat now. Are our African countries trying to exploit the opportunities opening up? The point is whatever harsh realities we believe we are being dealt, others have been dealt the same, and some of them eventually prospered. codemaniacs: |
Sorry, but this is quite naive a statement to make. "Men without no bias". Is there any such man? You can say, oh of the group we have here who has the least bias? and you may even have to state the biases that are relevant to such a selection. For example, are you strictly referring to opinions on player selection? as in which players are worthy of selection? Are you also including their opinions on Nigerian politics at large? How would you even be able to properly judge these? What are the parameters, and what are the weights? I mean, if I am Yoruba and I don't support Nwakali for example, there's no way to be sure that my lack of support for his invitation is not in part due to my ethnicity as a Yoruba. I could even point out all his flaws as a player and that doesn't still remove me from ethnic bias. And if you even say you, oh this so so person is the most detribalized, at least as far as we know here, on what basis are you making such judgements? Are you sure you are properly judging their actions? Marjoribanks: |
Tinubu must do all this? Your state governors only need to collect allocations, do as they please, and wait for the next election cycle? Tap0lane: |
We don't need to show off against Sudan and Puerto Rico. Not important. As someone rightly said my guy doesn't carry this team through those two games your guy comes up short and ends up with a Bronze. ![]() steady986:
|
Interesting point. Curry has been at the receiving end of this many a time. Skrrrrrrr: |
My answers to those are as good as yours. Fair point. But wait ooo, what's the motivation behind Bronze? ![]() A40: |
Did you just compare Curry to Buddy Hield? You better go and join your fellows who think Lebron getting posterized was AI-generated. steady986: |
As usual, always resorting to gaslighting us. Even for those wey dey Nigeria, people no dey make millions for there? Nonsense. ![]() birdman: |
You know say me na Curry fan, but whether na stat padding or not, Lebron rightly deserved the MVP. As @A40 said some people have mastered the art of hacking the game at one time or the other as far as stats go. Lebron is one of those. Let's be honest Stephen Curry was very silent offensively during the group stage. By silent I mean he was very low on scoring, but of course, we can say that if you watch the game you would see he was doing some intangibles offensively, and as it's a star-studded team he wouldn't want to force the scoring until it's necessary. Curry's performance in the last two was great but not enough. If had gotten at least two other 15+ points games in the group stage and Quarters, maybe this would be a different conversation. It was Lebron's to lose. Skrrrrrrr: |
@Birdman, come closer. Isn't it wonderful that a team full of NBA all-time greats almost got cooked by a team full of players mostly playing in Europe? . You know me, I go take troll you. You and your caucus conveniently ignored it. This is a star-studded team, no need to blow up every game. The offensive load can go around. And did he not blow up when it mattered most? . I thought KD is the only one that can shine in such teams. Curry was just marinating for the masterpiece. Now Almighty KD can put in 25 points for the gold. |
I would like to think Football started somewhere too, England I believe, and that country/region was at the center of it. Where's it today? I thought the NBA was working hard at globalizing the sport. How do you determine the center radius is not spreading if you don't compete against others? How do you test how others are doing? Just an eye test? Why do you like giving these unfair examples? Unilag and Stanford? Perhaps you are citing this cos those are the places you lived in, but don't you think an example of a University basketball team in Europe would be a comparable example? The distance between Unilag and Stanford is too far apart to reconcile. You are making it seem as if this is strictly Nigeria vs USA. Again, Football started in England, but now, even in the regional tournament, we know the title of "European champion" has rotated between different teams from different leagues over different periods. Football evolved in tournament organization to the point where multiple leagues dominate. This is what we are talking about. and @Birdman, what am I supposed to do with your last comment? How has the fact that the sport allows black kids to at least cross socio-economic barriers related to the "World champions" argument? Does that not apply to most sporting activities? And abeg no emotionally blackmail us. "Pedantic nonsense" indeed. birdman: |
You are correct, we can always question the use of the word "World champions" in different sports. We can always find reasons not to give a champion a world status. I am not sure I agree with your use of "Which tournament did they fight in to decide that?". The organization of tournaments is a means to rank the participants, and different sports have different ways of achieving that. As far as I know, all boxing organizations have ratings/rankings of professional boxers, and on average, even though marketability is very important, these rankings determine the matches, apart from cross-organization title fights. So, indeed even though you and I will be crushed by Usyk, and we don't need an actual fight to determine that, neither you nor I is rated, at least I know I am not. Here, there's a way to get to fight for Word champion, i.e get highly ranked. It's not perfect, but the chance of someone outside the top 5 in any organization beating the current World champion is low, not to talk of an unranked person. It's imperfect but ok. They even specify the organization. As in "WBC world champion". This is an individual sport though, let's go to a team sport that may be comparable. Most countries have football leagues and yet you and I are mostly sure that the winner of the European Champions League wins most of the time. The club World Cup shows that. The European champion has lost only 20% of the time. Yet they call themselves European champions and not World champions until they win the Club World Cup. Maybe I am just overestimating the popularity of the NBA. I hope this noise gets these folks to organize the World Basketball League. , so that title can make more sense. For countries, the FIBA World Cup makes sense, just as the FIFA World Cup makes sense for football. I just checked and it seems BlewMahn mentioned some of this stuff. A40: |
Abeg no dey do this. Was Lyles technically correct? Oh yes. Was it pedantry? Very likely. Well, he got all the attention, didn't he? Yes. They all have to get out from under Usain Bolt's shadow. Could you call the FIBA World Cup winner world champions? Yes. If you can call any team world champions, the winner of the FIBA World Cup should at least be in that category. Also, your FIBA example is alright until you ask the question; How many of the All-star 5 were from the team that won the NBA championship? The NBA calling themselves world champions without competing is superfluous in the first place. (Even though on paper they would very likely beat any team in any other league in the world). If the almighty NBA can do that, I am certainly allowed to be excessive and overly technical too. You love attention, I certainly love it too. As Birdman talk, it's not ok to do that to your folks though. Leave that to athletes/Players from other countries. I am glad he won though. ![]() A40: |
Calm down, Oga. I am surprised you think giving everyone the free rein wouldn't cause problems. The scoring load may just rotate away from those 2. I believe they have a game today, so we will see. That's how star-studded this team is. If you try to lock anyone up, other players would go off. But i agree with you, certain guys have to be the focal point to thrive. A40: |
Good point, you are learning. Unfortunately his father is not an all-time great NBA current /former NBA player who thinks he's better than NBA players, and so should be drafted ![]() steady986: |
As u mentioned in your previous posts, the best way to shut people up and show you deserve this is to play well. They now remember that he was the 55th pick, and so he's playing to his pick number, but they don't remember his father and coach in part sent him to the slaughterhouse. He better keep playing and improving, and later replicate it in the NBA, where there are a bunch of people he's supposedly better than, otherwise we will come for him again. ![]() A40: |
What's wrong with you? After i wasted my time to tell you where this started you still come up with this? Khanben: |
What is your problem? Do you even have an idea where this began. Your fellow Le '4-6' fan argued that teams were willing to draft him higher than 55, suggesting he was better than the 55th pick(Unless he meant NBA teams are at the mercy of the mighty Lebron and so are willing to do what he tells them) and to that i say definitely not. He doesn't have a better resume than all those drafted above him. Very simple. Khanben: |
Speak for yourself please. Don't say i claimed sth when i didn't. If you have forgotten what i wrote go back and check. 1.4 blocks per game is actually better than average and that for his Rookie season. Do your comparative analysis properly man. My point was you draft based on the information you have. His University stats clearly suggests that he was at least a good defensive center. Very simple And are you serious at all? I quoted his block average in response to your post, but you still ask me to check to go and check? steady986: |
Low budget Kante is not too bad though. Like his 15 Naira to Kante's 20 naira. ![]() charlesemeka85: |
Be smart. How many Rookies come into the NBA and dominate? They start with limited minutes. The experience he would have had playing more regularly for Texas he had playing for a professional team in Australia. Someone being drafted from a professional league is treated differently from one from a college team, as they should. steady986: |
Be smart man. First of , you draft based on the information you have. That's the smart way to draft. And he did carry some of it into the NBA. He averaged 8.8 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game in 24 minutes. That's very decent for a rookie. Why won't you at least check the stats before replying? steady986: |
This is a typical Le '4-6' fan argument . I hope you are not. You elected to omit that Lively was 7'1 and averaged 2.4 blocks per game. That's a very important start for drafting a center. Or are u new to the NBA? You can certainly do better. Go to your WhatsApp group and find me better examples pls. ![]() Khanben: |
Now this is good. Good counter. That's how it's done. However, this man averaged 2.8 points per game in 7.9 minutes. Not comparable at all. I would ignore that too. Your guy averaged 4.8 points despite averaging almost 20 minutes. steady986: |
What was Bronny's stats in college again? Over 96% of the folks drafted above him averaged over 10%. I can only count two folks that did not, and they averaged 9.0+ points the previous year. Bronny averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. Are you not ashamed of yourself? steady986: |
