I know Man Utd has a history of being wasteful and bad at transfers but 78 million on top Greenwood, common. . Even with a lingering cloud hanging over his head, that's a very bad deal. Philosopher1979: 78 to 85 million plus Mason Greenwood will be good. Greenwood is a top quality player and Napoli will give him a chance to launch his career. With greenwood they will have another quality player either at the quality of or better than osimhen and kvaraschelua. If I'm napoli I will agree to the deal |

That's ok. Yes, i took a cursory look at the report. I am still looking for evidence to back up this claim though. A 4-minute video is probably ok for a report, to put the specific games in perspective, but full-game video would be needed to confirm this claim. Are the full-game videos not available online? NB: I found a website that has a database of a lot of games. But i wasn't able to find a full game video. https://www.usasportsondvd.com/database-filter?issearch=1&theme=database&isc=1&dtrange=range&sdate=1987-11-01&edate=1987-12-31&tags_id[0]=1&tags_id[1]=8&category_id=5 steady986: Bros, that's why I posted a link for you there. In that link there is a full report of exactly what was done and how it was done. The article is very long, but you can scroll down to the part with the heading "The Man in Latvia", you'd find the games there with links to their boxscores. |

Better. You referenced the dates. One more thing though. Can you provide a link to the full games though? Did you find the full games? Or are you quoting an article in which it was claimed they did? Oh wait you mention it's on Vhs taping. It's not online? Khanben: The six full games we found tapes for from Jordan’s Defensive Player of the Year campaign:
Atlanta at Chicago: Nov. 20, 1987
Indiana at Chicago: Jan. 5, 1988
Denver at Chicago: Jan. 7, 1988
Detroit at Chicago: Jan. 16, 1988
Atlanta at Chicago: Feb. 15, 1988
Boston at Chicago: Mar. 18, 1988
PS: one of the reasons they published is to see if the publicity can get them access to more full game tape. The ones they got were from vhs tapings of nba Europe |

Hellooooooo, and you just went with it because he said so? He didn't even reference the games he watched and when they were played so that we can have some direction in our search. A reference to where wee can get those full games would be great. This doesn't augur well for you. You can't just make such grand claims and not provide suitable references. Again, how do we get those full games? steady986: There are actually full game footages. One Tom Haberstroh from Yahoo sports said he watched 6 full consecutive home games in that 88 season. MJ was credited 28 steals in that stretch, but he counted only 12 correct steals. In fact, in one of the games, MJ had more steals than the other team had turnovers.

I was clear. Your initial claim was that the dynamics of respect in the Japanese culture has no social hierarchy as opposed to ours and i argued that that was a misinformation. Their dynamics of respect in fact has social hierarchy because the younger stoop further down and for much longer as a show of respect towards the elderly and those in positions of authority. This fits into the definition of a social hierarchy. "Japanese have a culture of respect that predates its modern state economy" as you later claimed is a new claim you are introducing, without addressing my rebuttal which is that the Japanese society's dynamics of respect has a hierarchical dimension to it. Don't muddle everything up. Mujtahida: Not a claim. A fact of which you have no rebuttal.
Japanese have earned world acclaim for their culture of respect. If you want to dispute that, go on. |

I won't be surprised if this is true for good reasons, and ofcourse it would be easier to get away with that then. However, all you need to do is send us the full game. Period. If it's so i will admit it. steady986: One thing with you MJ defenders on this matter is that while you try to brush it off as irrelevant or false, you also try to stylishly accept that it might have been true because it was not only MJ's stats that were padded in those days.
You people need to stay in one place. It's either you accept that the padding actually happened and therefore influenced the voters during his DPOY season, or you deny that it never happened and live with the repercussions when we bring you more glaring evidence that it actually did

Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by benji93: 11:52pm On Jun 23, 2024 |
There's an issue there i agree, which perhaps needs clarification. But you cannot definitively determine it was not a 10-steals game unless you see the full game. They can just upload the full game somewhere so we can all confirm this, and not just tell us that, oh they checked the full game and it was indeed 6 steals not 10. Khanben: The league didn't have its own record keepers in that era, so each home team recorded the boxscores for the game. Unlike now where the teams have theirs, plus the nbas guys and also all sports books have multiple people checking to make sure that boxscores are accurate. As for the 10 steals game, it's not a full game on youtube but a 4 minute highlight reel on nba.com. the title says 10 steals, but after watching it, you will only see 6 steals. This highlight reel is what prompted the Latvian nba historian to look into the whole 1988 Jordan steals and block stats. He could only find 6 home games and with the Yahoo sports writer as the other watcher, they found 12 steals while the boxscores gave MJ 28.
PS: The Latvian historian has other stories he himself have published about stats juicing, from van excel 25 assist games (he saw at most 17, and in his opinion that is with stretching the definition of what an assist was). Also, the 15-block Shaq game, the tape, showed about 10 |

Please stop misinforming people. There's social hierarchy in Japan too. A student would bow lower/longer in greeting a teacher in comparison to a fellow student for example. And please be careful how you use the word "real". There seems to be an underlying assumption that since the Japanese have flourished economically, their form of respect must be the real one. Very dangerous thought process, if that's what's going on here. The socialization of a people is not necessarily dependent on their economic strength. Their are areas for which they are independent. They may combine to produce some emergent behaviour, but you have to have good reasons for thinking certain manners or habits we cultivate are necessarily a product of both. Mujtahida: Japanese have a high culture of real respect but what we have is a respect for hierarchy. In Japan, everyone is respected regardless of class or social status. |

And you need to stop this nonsense of condescending to others with the 'y’all haven’t lived outside the shores of Nigeria'. No be you go first go abroad. people don dey go abroad since 18 kokoro. I agree boss, and even more so, the reason i brought that up is that na because of people like this man person fit tell me say Stephen Curry no be generational talent, and neither is MJ. Na Yoruba people talk say 'A kì í fini joyè àwòdì ká má lè gbádìẹ'. We no fit give person the title 'hawk' make he no fit carry chicks. It doesn't make sense. If you are such a generational talent you better not have any more of those type of games. It 's not profitable to be unable to quantify generational talent outside your guts. A40: That's another underrated worry. Kyrie's floor is very poor. In a series where the opponent has the slight edge you have to go Super saiyan as that will unlock even the role players
A bad game for you in this series cannot be 13pts and 1 assist
A bad game should be 18pts and minimum 4 asts
Luka even in a bad game will still give you 20. Kyrie has to also be at that minimum |

Lol. Perhaps i could say 'Oh Curry is an influential player'. Are you kidding me? Gifted? Gifted in some sense is synonymous with generational, or at least it includes it as a subset. It seems you are just throwing in any word that comes to mind. A generational talent, as far as sports, is simply a player that does something or is something you won't see in 15/20 years. Some may come down to 10. Very very simple. An all-time great status is a life time achievement. which in some cases may even be considered generational. steady986: Bro, there are different terms you can use to describe all these things you just mentioned. All-time great, influential, gifted, etc. Pick one |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by benji93: 6:44am On Jun 05, 2024 |
I don tell times without number you are not serious. Showing a lot of promise early on in your professional career is not the only path toward being considered a generational talent. If no be say i like you i no go tell you say na Nonsense you write for here. Absolute Nonsense. The pool of generational talents first and foremost includes trailblazers. Anyone who was at the center of a seismic shift in a game is automatically considered a generational talent. Maybe at the top of the list of generational talents self.B So does the list of generational talents include those that came in with certain unique physical features, the combination of which are rare, and may not be seen again in decades? Of course. But so are the players that did things at a level only a few have. Infact i am willing to consider that Westbrook is a generational talent, whatever you think of the man. He did something only very few have done in the history of the NBA. In sports, there are certain levels of performance that cannot be ascribed to talent alone. The two may be so welded together that you cannot see one without the other. The point is that possessing rare physical qualities or showing capacity very early is not the only way to be generational. There are other ways to describe those. steady986: GTatum is not a generational talent. Let's get that out of the way.
I've said this here before, you know a generational talent even before they enter the NBA. Luka is a generational talent. He had been killing it even as a kid. He didn't get drafted 1st just because he wasn't American and didn't attend college in America. Giannis, who is a generational talent, wasn't noticed early enough. This is due to the fact that he actually started playing basketball late, and also he isn't American and didn't attend college in America.
Curry and MJ are great players but they aren't generational talents. Obviously they are very skilled players but their mentality and hard work made them who they are. Heck, if they were generational talents why weren't they drafted number one? Who passes up on a generational talent at no. 1? I'm not saying that you have to be drafted no. 1 if you are a generational talent, or all no. 1s are generational talents. No. Take KD for instance. I think he's a generational talent. But the guy who was drafted no.1 in his draft class turned out to be a bust. It can happen.
Zion Williamson is a generational talent, but sadly he hasn't put in the work to live up to that talent. If you put Steph and MJ in the category of generational talent then it means the list of generational talents would be endless. Because we have seen guys like them before. The only difference is that they did it better than we would probably ever see.
Look at this list
KD Shaq Wemby Luka LeBron Zion Wilt Giannis Magic
What do you notice? There's a combination of skill and physical attributes that we don't associate with regular NBA players. And you can go as far back as when the NBA began, you won't be able to show me 2 other players that are like these people. |

If i understand him well enough I believe he argues that VO is lacking in technical ability, which interestingly I agree with. Still, certainly, most players cannot have it all. What he lacks in that, he makes up for in speed and strength. And I am not sure Osimhen can do much to improve in that aspect. And for most players, if you would be high on technical ability, you should already be quite reasonably high at 25. It may seem inconsequential now, he's in the prime of his strength and speed, but when age forces his strength and speed down, his production may fall significant Darell2002: What do you have against VO? |

Sorry, i am only commenting on the bolded cos it's the only sequence of lines relevant to my first comment to you. I am not sure you read my comment. A waiver is supposed to be a deviation from normal, that's for example you exempt some folks from submitting a document that would normally be required. Admitting BSc holders into PhD programs is normal in the USA. Most American PhD programs with a decent reputation do this. In short, getting into a PhD program with an MSc is abnormal. The question was about whether an MSc was necessary not whether it's the better pathway. That's a different question. Besides, since most admitted graduate students in the USA are BSc holders and their programs are on average quite successful in research turn out, admitting BSc students works as long as you give them enough time. You may have processed over 25 PhD admissions, but you do not know better than someone in the system. OyoTunjiUSA: Hey 🤠
@benji93.
1. I know more than everything you have stated up there and personally i have processed more than 25 successful PhD admissions (USA and Canada) in the span of my career/ activities as an admission and visa counselor.
2. I read that lot of the year 2024 UTME candidates failed to meet up with the required 200 cut off points. Same goes to WAEC and NECO poor performances.
3. Although, there are many playful students and the emergence of social media's affected and still affecting the teenagers , but the background cause is the idea of some schools that usually waived the primary 5-6 classes for pupils (on the grounds that they are outstanding students) and make them write the Common Entrance examination straight into Junior Secondary Schools.
4. On getting to JSS classes, some parents and teachers would bring up the (Jumping fence / Fast-Tracking ) ideas again that , look this students are outstanding, let them write GCE from SSS1/2 and also write UTME straight away. Thereby, omitting SSS3 and straight to the Universities when their mates are still writing WAEC.
5. The above narrative is my personal experiences and observations. The idea to use an opportunity of waiver is good but few Nigerians usually will over use the opportunity to the state of counter-productives .
6. Waiving Msc to apply for direct PhD is good for matured applicants , waiving primary 5 and 6 classes is good for disabled kids who are outstanding, waiving sss2 and 3 applies to same set of outstanding, disabled and not-well- to do background students .
7. Supporting jumping or cutting corners has turned 55% of Nigerian youths into Fast-Paced Personalities. They want millions while still in Secondary Schools. They want to buy Bugatti Veyron (car) while still in the University . It gives the idea of Impatient Generation .
8. Thank you for your input. I knew what he wrote was true but i won't support the notion .

Sorry for interrupting your exchange, but it's not wrong to tell someone they do not need a Master's degree to get into a PhD, if the person was referring to the USA. For folks familiar with the American graduate education that's quite common. It's one of the signatures of the American graduate school. It's the reason PhDs in the US take much longer on average. Students take graduate-level courses in the first two years, take a qualifying exam, and ramp up the intensity of their research afterward. Many, if not all graduate schools award students a Master's certificate along the way too. Does having a Master's degree give students from outside the USA an advantage? In general, it does. On average students with a Master's degree already have some research experience, and some may already have at least one peer-reviewed paper(important contribution). So if a professor needs a student with some graduate-level research, and wants them to get on a project very early on, a student with a master's would be a better bet. This is not to say some BSc students cannot demonstrate a high research capacity. Some of them get exposed to high-level research early on. Again it's quite correct to tell someone they do not need a Master's to get into an American PhD program. Where it's very likely necessary is for a European PhD program. That's the standard there. OyoTunjiUSA: Hey 🤠
@oluezekiel
1. Who the hell are you ? If you see me physically you dare not even say hi to me . Its not superlate for you to comb out old story that does not even concern you ?
2. You are not a PhD holder and if you are you are just keeping a ceremonial certificate because the omission of the Msc has actually cut out the maturity or adulthood part out of your educational life .
3. All my businesses life is online 24/7. I am replying more than 20 email correspondence as i am typing both home and abroad likewise skyping and online studies . I don't juggle browsing or Internet data's like most of you kids.
4. Your bigmanism and fake profiles should be kept in your room and Nairaland is mare 5% of my online activities out of 100.

Perhaps Diversity is only one of the factors being considered in the various immigration programs. Your argument would hold if that was the only factor. No serious country would do that. Immigrants' choice of Ontario may not be the only contributing factor to the high population of Indians in Brampton. Have you considered that the freedom of immigrants to move between provinces may be a contributing factor? Besides 80% is a gross exaggeration. 30% looks more like it. It's rather unfruitful to compare two different immigration programs that consider different factors. The Diversity Visa Lottery program of the US is different from Canada's immigration programs by express entry for example. colored: What do you guys think of the way Indians are taking over Canada in massive numbers? Brampton's demography is 80% Indian. And it's not like they are assimilating into the Canadian culture, they are instead forming their own parallel society within Canada, posing a threat to Canadian values. Canada is appealing to me and to many not just because of her economic opportunities but also because of her values of freedom and egalitarianism.
Diversity isn't importing immigrants from only one part of the world, it is balancing the immigrants who are coming in so that diverse countries can be represented. The US understands this very well which is why Nigerians are no longer eligible for visa lottery because they have taken in over 50k Nigerians, exceeding the threshold they set for Nigerians. |
