Hi guys,
I just received my offer of admission to the MSc Data Science program at the University of Calgary Winter '25. However, the offer didn’t mention any funding, and the tuition is quite expensive (around $48k CAD). It’s been less than 24 hours since I got the offer, and it’s not yet reflected in my portal, but I want to plan ahead. I believe I’m eligible for at least one merit-based scholarship due to my strong undergraduate results and relevant work experience.
I would appreciate your input. Thanks |

House34: The visa official likely doubted the source of your funds because, for example, earning 250,000 naira monthly while showing 30 million in your account without a proper explanation can raise significant concerns. It's not solely about the substantial closing balance; other factors such as clear documentation of the source of your funds are crucial considerations in their visa decision-making process.
Under Canada's Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, there is no formal right of appeal for temporary resident decisions. to ircc Instead, you have the option to reapply or seek judicial review at the Federal Court of Canada and you need hire a Canadian lawyer to handle this process, as it can be costly (approximately 3500 CAD or more ) and time-consuming (4 months to 1 year ). Personally, considering the uncertainty of success in court, it may not be a prudent decision to pursue an appeal through this route as reapplying still remain the best option. What I attached was my current domiciliary bank account. I earn in USD and I had over xxk when I applied. I did attach my offer of employment also but I guess that was not enough. Thank you for the reply. Wdyt about attaching a printed statement of account or request from my bank |

I got my gcms note on my refusal.
===== I have considered the following factors in my decision.
After a review of the proof of funds provided, I note that limited explanation on the source of these funds were included. With this, I have concerns with the applicant's ability to support the stated purpose of travel for themselves or to show that they are financially established in their country of residence. Upon reviewing the documents and information provided with this application, I am not satisfied that the purpose of their intended stay is justified or that their visit to Canada is temporary.
Weighing the factors in this application. I am not satisfied that the applicant will depart Canada at the end of the period authorized for their stay. For the reasons above, I have refused this application. =====
I did submit my employment letter and it can be seen clearly that all the credits in the account were from my employer. I wonder why they couldn’t just figure that part out.
And yes, I had more that enough in the account.
Is it possible to appeal this decision? If I were to submit a new application, do you suggest I still submit a printed statement account from GTBank or I should request GT to send it to the embassy? |

Travel › Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by benjijosh(m): 7:50pm On Jun 04, 2024 |
chatmate: It should be there o, did you send the webform before or after decision has been made. Before the decision, I think days after I first sent the application. I have requested for gcms notes to know what went wrong. I am guessing they interpreted my statement of account as naira instead of USD because I submitted my DOM current account. That will be silly of them tho |

Sorry to hear about the refusal , I would reapply again and do you have any travel history? are you self employed ? Sometimes is not about the balance in your account. I just checked the tracker, I don’t see anywhere in the activities log where they acknowledged receiving my webform. I am not self employed, I work with a US company and I have been to the UK and many African countries |

benjijosh: Good morning I just got a refusual but I am sure it's wrong because I submitted documents to backup the points I was rejected for via web form and I am sure that was not used.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as required by paragraph 179(b) of the IRPR (https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/SOR-2002-227/ section-179.html). I am refusing your application because you have not established that you will leave Canada, based on the following factors: • Your assets and financial situation are insufficient to support the stated purpose of travel for yourself (and any accompanying family member(s), if applicable). • The purpose of your visit to Canada is not consistent with a temporary stay given the details you have provided in your application.
How can I appeal this decision?
Purpose of application was tourism I submitted via web form my property documents My statement of account has over $50k in it Does anyone know how I can verify that they got the additional documents I submitted? |

deejay102: You asked for Elder's advise bah? You get mind to take am??
First, pressuring you for application is a RED FLAG! All I see is an overzealous woman who is eager to attain 'power'. If you can, DO NOT DO COURT MARRIAGE. Infact, no marry this one at all. You will be signing your own ruin.
Now, in the event that you gullibly agree to marry this person and go to court, you can apply for spousal sponsorship. I can effectively tell you that you DO NOT NEED a POF for that. Neither does she. All you need is a Full time Job!
Tourist visa is a waste of your time. Chances are high they will refuse it anyway and in the event that it succeeds, your life will be on a setback because she can't work and you will work your ass twice as much to accommodate a liability before you apply for what you should have applied for in the first place.
I advise you ignore her and settle yourself down first before thinking of one woman.
Babes boku as you already know or will soon know. A reasonable 'lifelong partner' will allow you settle down while an 'opportunist' will press you because all they think about is their selfish interest.
No let PR shack you oo! Yes you can work as much as you want but you go see work sef your body go give up due to extreme stress. Whatever you do, do not apply for anybody for the next 2 years! Not that you can't but you will regret losing that personal space/freedom if you do and that includes your parents if you have them.
Your PR is your chance to rethink your decisions.
No talk say person no warn you. Court marriage certificate na your own handcuffs in the west. Na my 2 cents be that!
Goodluck Well put except calling her gullible. I see nothing wrong in ones partner wanting to be with them at all cost so far nothing illegal is being done. She has been misinformed and all OP needs to do is assure her that he will be back for her. |

Hello everyone,
On December 4th, I applied for a visit visa and went for my biometrics on December 8th. When I log into my portal, I see my biometrics number and the expiry date. However, in the outlined application progress, I see the message "we have not received your biometrics".
Should I be worried about this? Thank you. |

Omix2: An unpaid flight booking directly from an airline or online travel agency (travelwings/travelstart..) would do. Visa applicants are usually advised to not purchase flight tickets until their visas have been approved. The itinerary is just meant to show the consular officer the dates and the ports you plan to enter and exit the country through, amongst other things. P.S. Take the time to find better deals. There are return tickets for direct flights that don't even cost close to that. Thank you for your input. I did as advised and submitted it already. I hope I get the eVisa approved. Probably the hardest visa I ever had to apply for. I want a direct flight but the cheaper ones have multiple stops |

Hello house,
I need clarification on the flight itinerary or booking upload for my eVisa on dha website.
I don’t want to book a flight down as it’s about $1,300
How can I go about it or where can I reserve flights without paying?
Thanks

Hinokami: During my initial interview I gave a figure that was above my current pay, now they insist on me providing the payslip before proceeding to the next stage of the employment process.
The thing is I have monthly bonuses not captured on the payslip and I fear not providing evidence would make me disqualified for the role.
Who has navigated such process before as I don't know what to do.
Is it even legal to ask for payslips?
Will they actually contact my current employer to verify the payslip?
Note: it's a financial institution. I heard they are fond of doing this during their recruitment. You shouldn’t have to provide your payslip or bank statement. If they can afford your salary, let them go ahead and proceed to the next round. By the way, this is all the red flag you need to know you probably won’t be getting any pay rise anytime soon. |

How was I able to partner with different multinational and develop a business model that still earn me 1m at home here, own several delivery businesses in Nigeria? Hey man, don’t let anyone on a faceless platform bring your morale down. Firstly, you have to acknowledge that you have gotten yourself in a difficult situation. Now is not the time to be feeling sorry for yourself. You need to act fast and now. Draw up a plan, most importantly you need to pay your school fees. You have mentioned that you still have a business and a job bringing in 800£. I will suggest you channel 75% of that to pay up. Sit your partner down and let them know it’s now or never. Whatever job available has to be grabbed. You don’t get to choose now. Lastly, breathe. They have been many before you and there will be many more after you. Give it all it takes and don’t back down. Rooting for you. Good luck |
