Dear OP, if you can do what you stated without having to deny yourself a good life for a period of time then go ahead and invest in her.

I don’t blame people against you investing cos truth be told, there’s a lot of crazy and ungrateful ladies out there just looking for to prey on but then, life is of two sides, the good and the bad. Both will happen to every man.

I always had this thought myself for my girl about investing in her and here are the things that helped me arrive at a conclusion.

1. Regardless of she being my girlfriend, I would be helping a human being cos I want her to do good for herself.

2. She’s worth every bit of the investment

3. If all goes as planned, she’s going to be my wife and that’s going to be a win win (thinking positively)

4. I haven’t made it my utmost priority, in fact she’s not aware I have any plan of investing in her yet. Although, I have a target month to execute this plan of mine so it’s not a burden and also, I won’t even be saving 5% of my monthly income to get this plan of mine executed.

Please strategize and for now, always put yourself first.

I am an introvert that is into programming and I work for companies from home. I became tired of all the gold diggers I was attracting because I discovered they are only looking for sponsors so for the first time I made up my mind to start approaching.

I saw a young lady walking towards me so I decided to start with her. @OP, I’m a dev too and as you can guess, just hitting the bed since 4pm that I have been working. Almost no human interaction in my life too since I got deeply into these programming life but here is what I do, every weekend, I drag myself to a nice place (restaurant, bar) bar mostly to cool off. I meet new people, talk little and if I really wanna have a long convo, I talk dirty, lol. With time, you gonna improve.

Side note: Just yesterday I was advising an intern to make sure he gets himself a girlfriend before going too deep into this programming shii, he thought I was just making fun of him. Little does he know what he’s signing up for.

1. What does someone want to "learn" in a 50k programming job that cannot be learnt freelancing or developing yourself by reading and harnessing tons of free tutorials online, since the person claims to be worth more than that?
2. You're not money inclined but took up a mouth watering "offer" of $3k, yimu.
3. Your market was worth more than 50k according to you but you had to commute for 7 hours a day for a meagre 50k a month? Tell that to another person fam.

That said, I totally respect your views and opinion just stating some things I see that does not add up, which is entirely my own view too.

Well, there's no place too small to learn. You wouldn't know what it meant to me to meet young dev as myself selfless pushing for solutions for the general public. It's not always about the money.

I do these stuffs not just for the money, I enjoy doing it and I will go any length to get it done.

That devs are well paid, is not a function of choice but skill set, experience and the premium placed on their skills by market forces (average earnings in the industry, demand and supply of programmers), which in turn means they'll always command good wages.

If you decided to get a job of 50k, it had nothing to do with the above as you most likely didn't fit into the criteria to earn more than 50k.

As I stated previously, I took the 3 months job because I wanted to meet new people and share ideas. I have been a contract developer for over 4years.

As to clarify the criteria of a thing, my market worth is far over that. I left the 50k job for a 3k$ job.

Maybe you haven't met a Dev like me. I used to be money inclined but I found out it doesn't help. The experience I got from the 50k job helped in getting the 3k$ job

Yeah but not always true. Some devs are not really bothered about the money.

I used to commute 7hrs a day for a 50k job around Jan - Mar. I took the job because I wanted to meet new people and luckily for me, I met great personalities there.

An entry developer should earn about 1k$ ~ 400k. But most devs here in Nigeria don’t enough have the skills to be considered as a junior dev.

You have to push yourself to be on an international standard (like of devs from US/Russia) to earn big. There’s more to being a dev than just putting up some HTML/CSS/JS/PHP/ASP.Net application

I'm looking to stash away some money for a while and I have decided to invest in Uber/Bolt.

The max I have for this purpose is 2m. I have made some research and I found out that I can get a Camry 05/06 for about max 1.85m.

I have no experience in this line, I have only had a friend invest in the same business 2years ago and he told me it's a cool investment.

I have some questions on my mind, is Uber/Bolt still taking drivers?

What are the chances of meeting the weekly return as a new driver, I heard it's somewhere around 25-30k weekly?

You need to calm down because are going too fast already. Being ambitious is a good thing but rubbing it on your bf's face is something you shouldn't do.

I wouldn't expect less from a first class student and a M.Sc holder holder. You are aiming big but you need to understand Life is not logical. Doing A or B doesn't totally guarantee anything. Your bf is not willing to take any chance that will take him back to square one. It's not as if he doesn't want to progress too. If he leaves his 90k from masters, how is he going to take care of his responsibilities (his younger ones) talkless of you, not to mention himself.

Rule out the M.Sc thing. If he wishes to have one in his name, he will but not now.

From your write-up, you probably 24/25. Trust me, someone as ambitious as yourself would never get married at 26/27 talkless of you big dreams you haven't achieved.

Your boyfriend is the one living the real life. No ones really cares if you have a 4.9 CGPA until you are successful.

Don't put too much pressure on him, he complains a lot and he is not doing anything. That's what you think. When he is truly fed up about everything, he's going to work a way. That's to say, he is comfortable where he is right now.

You don't have to cut off your dreams to be compatible with him, respect him for who he is and if you can't handle your boyfriend not being the ambitious person you want, stick to yourself and break up.

It doesn't mean you are bad or he won't become a brighter person in future. You're not just compatible as of now.
