Atolani11: Good day everyone. I am currently having a problem with honda accord 2004 v4 engine that I just bought as Naija used.
The car jerks violently when i accelerate and it reaches around 60 to 70km/hr
I have serviced the nozzle, injector , changed fuel pump, serviced the Map sensor..still no solution. Infact, once i reach speeds btw 60 to 70km/hr..it jerks violently that i have to take my leg off acceleration. Once i don't drive above that speed, it runs fine.
I don't know what else to do. My mechanic said he has ran out of ideas. Infact when i read online that the Map sensor can cause it....my mechanic when to test different map sensors, he said they map sensor in the car works better than all the ones they tested from the seller.
Another point is that the Rev is fine on idle..it can rev very above 5000rev.
I don't know what other sensor to check I have experienced this in the past. Your rewire needs to check the IVtech sensor at the back of the engine, left hand side. It might be clogged or needs replacement |

remi4ever: My AC compressor is factory fitted. Still works fine. I have cleaned the injector mouth as well. No black smoke at all. In the past, I experienced issue relating to RPM dropping down to around 500 and this causes serious vibration. Throttle body cleaned etc it'll only improve and go back to same in days. I will like you to confirm if you have thermostat in your car because When I finally returned Thermostat to vehicle, RPM became perfect ever since. I was working on replacing the throttle body but during discussion in a group that I belong about importance of thermostat in cars as against what Kazeems claim, I decided to install thermostat in my car, that was the best decision I ever made regarding that car. |

This jerking is it at a particular RPM? I have experienced some serious jerking with my EOD in the past and it has to do with the Ivtec sensor when I scanned. It usually happen at 80km/h serious jerking oo. oladele239: Had the 02 sensor of my EOD changed today due to poor mpg , though fan and thermostat are yet to be restored.
Another issue I'm having now is car jerks while I'm driving I had the TP sensor changed at a point when I noticed same thing earlier on.
Since the TP sensor was changed the jerking has steadily increased. Please what could be the issue and is it possible it wasn't well set or calibrated.
Or I need to look out for another issue I'm really stressed 😫 |

https://cartreatments.com/p0172/ https://www.fixdapp.com/blog/p0122-code/
you can buy the cheap parts and change them yourself or give to another mechanic to do same
Air filter is easy to change. check the throttle position sensor or wire leading to it.
just have time for this car and you would resolve the issue yourself Thank you so much for all the time. |

Good Morning House.
I am here again because of my 2004 Honda Accord that's guzzling fuel, couple time that I scanned the car, the only code I have was P0010.
But after someone recommended another mechanic to me yesterday, I went there, he scanned the car and the car brought two other codes in addition to the previous the codes are;
P0010 P0172 P0122
The mechanic said to fix everything will cost me 60k including getting another tokunbo injector mouth cos there is an issue with the TPS (throttle position sensor)
He also said something about the car timing, that the engine has been tampered with I don't know how that's possible because I replaced the engine and gear over a year ago.
I need advise if this is the way to go, if this cost of repair isn't outrageous and will this solve the issue of fuel guzzling?
Thank you all for your response.
PS: engine is 4plug 2.4 engine. |

AutoConsult: Alright.
Now, for the oil, switch to Total Quartz 5000, 20w-50. The type you are using will stress your engine out. Hondas don't tolerate mismatch of oil.
When you can, do the full injector overhaul, and leave the fuel pump for now. If the fuel compartment is as clean as you say, then the pump should be fine.
It'll be great if you can find a mechanic that can help you test different certified-working injectors on the vehicle for a little fee, but buying the complete four shouldn't cost you more than 10k, but it'll be great if it can be done for way less. It's always painful to spend so much and not still get results.
Let me know what changes you notice when these things are done.
Have a great weekend sir. Will do all that and definitely get back to you. I am believing that will solve the situation. Thank you so much sir. I am very grateful 😁 |
Car Talk › Re: We Find Lasting Solutions To Tricky And Stubborn Car Issues by berbs112(m): 6:00am On Nov 11, 2023 |
AutoConsult: Okay this is a serious one.
First of all, I commend you for all the efforts you've made so far. I know all those troubleshooting you mentioned didn't come cheap.
Now, talking of check engine light on a Honda Accord, I personally don't pay much attention to it. Just a about anything can trigger a check engine light on that brand of Honda.
Even when you eventually find the solution to the jerking and fuel consumption, the check engine light might not go off, or maybe go off and return in just two days. It's a good thing you've scanned the vehicle for codes and have addressed the fault it suggested.
I'm confident though that the fault the scanner revealed is not the real culprit here.
For the fuel consumption, I'll first ask you what engine model you use, and what oil number you use for servicing(An unlikely cause but important).
Now, there's a possibility that whatever is causing the fuel consumption is also what is making the car to jerk. Troubleshooting a Honda Accord for this kind of fault can be very tricky.
One of the coils or injectors could be misfiring, and a scanner might be unable to detect it (speaking from experience). In this type of situation, I always advise an owner to change the entire fuel injectors at once.
One of the coils could also be the problem. Most of the time, a coil on that vehicle don't get damaged at once. They deteriorate over time, and refuse to be detected by a scanner. I'll advise you have a mechanic test new certified-okay coils on the vehicle.
Please, you should also check your air filter. I want to believe it has been checked though. If not, please do. It might be too dirty.
Also, I sincerely hope the housing of your fuel pump and filter is not dirty. That thing messes up with the fuel injectors. No matter how many times you change injectors, they'll continue to get clogged up and eventually die off. Get thinner to clean it up. Fuel treatment might not be sufficient.
Lastly, your problem might be with the brainbox. No user loves to hear this, but it is what it is. When situations like excessive fuel consumption arises, and all ideas have been exhausted, it's the brainbox we turn to.
I hope this helps for now.
I await your feedback. Thank you so much for taking your time to analyze the situation for me. It's quite helpful and eye opening. The engine is 4 plugs engine if that answers the question about engine type. I agree with you regarding the check engine light not correlating to the fuel consumption. I use Mobil 5w30 for servicing although the engine oil cap have 5w20. I will try and raise funds to have all injectors replaced and coils checked and replaced if possible. I forgot to add in my earlier message that I also replaced the air filter. The fuel pump housing is clean, the filter is also clean. I don't know if it will be wise to replace the ECU at this time 😢 because that might be quite expensive ☹️. I'm thinking of starting over from the injectors and the coil then probably purchase a new complete fuel pump along with housing if changing all nozzles and coil doesn't solve the issue. Thanks you again for your response, I really appreciate. |

Good Day boss. I drive an Honda Accord 04. The car has been burning a lot of fuel, guzzling fuel like the diety 🤣.
Nozzles checked, and one that was deemed bad was replaced, plugs are good, I changed the MAF sensor, I changed the fuel pump at a time because I notice mild jerking sometimes during acceleration and when I release the throttle and press again, the jerking will stop, after changing the fuel pump to a new pump the jerking still occurs and still guzzling fuel, I decided to get a tokunbo complete fuel pump system, the jerking and fuel guzzling still persists.
I scanned the car because the check engine light was on, the only code that I have is P0010 (camshaft position Actuator) I have replaced the sensor without any effect the check engine light is still on. My rewired cleaned both the old and new still the check engine light is still there, what can I do? I use the same car for e-hailing and it's not been funny and I'm low on cash at the moment.
What can I do?
Thank you. |

luvinhubby: Budget 30k for toks & 28k for new I need a complete vtc solenoid assembly and rocker arm sensor for 04 Honda accord. The error code after scanning my car repeatedly is P2646. I have changed the switch vtc sensor switch without effect and also replaced the rocker arm sensor but the check engine light still there. What prompted the scanning was that I noticed vibration/jacking once the RPM reach 3000 and a rewire worked on it we changed this stuffs and jacking stopped but the check engine light was still there. And still pointing to the rocker arm, what the rewire did I didn't know. But sometimes when it gets to that 3000rpm there's soft jacking lately but not up to the previous ones. What's the cost for the above mentioned parts new/tokunbo whichever you can guarantee. One more thing, I noticed the RPM is always high when I start the car in the morning and it takes like over 10 mins to come back to like 1100rpm which I'm not satisfied with, I had someone checked that out, we cleaned the throttle head with cab cleaner and it seem normal for a while but it continued again and it's consuming fuel lately. I don't want issue that will be consuming fuel atleast not this time abeg lol. I am of the opinion if I can replace the two stuffs I mentioned up there completely, I hope it'll help solve the RPM and all. I need the total cost and I can get it way billed to me or come down to fix it. I live in Sango Otta axis. |
