LiteratureBlogging Tips For Writers by Berrypie(op):
Here are some great tips for bloggers.

1. Create a niche for your blog. Bloggers who have a niche for their blog can use that to determine everything from the best name for the blog and content. Plus, readers appreciate a blogger with a defined niche so they know what content to expect over the long haul.

2. Craft an editorial calendar for your blog. Once you know your niche, start figuring out your editorial calendar. This simple tool helps bloggers plan out and create top notch content and avoid the dreaded “blogger’s block,” which is writer’s block for bloggers.

3. Put blog readers first. Many bloggers get into the game thinking of how it might help them out with their goals, but I’ll tell you right now that the only way to consistently get anything out of blogging is to always (ALWAYS) put your readers first. Always!!!!

4. Design readable blog posts. You don’t have to be a super design whiz to have a professional-looking blog. However, try to include at least one (relevant) image in each blog post. When possible, break up text with headers, make lists, and keep text concise.
5. Track your blogging success. I’m a “content first” person, pure and simple…but I also believe in using tracking to help figure out what works and doesn’t work. Tracking helps me guide what content appeals to my readers, which products sell, and so much more.

6. Plan out blog posts in advance. An editorial calendar can help bloggers plot out posts on a macro level, but this planning is dedicated to plotting out (ahead of time) how you want to attack posts on a post-by-post basis. A simple outline works wonders for me.

7. Develop a blog post promotion plan. A lot of blogging success comes from just developing consistent systems, whether it’s related to developing content or sharing that content with your readers after the post goes live. Know how you’re going to share posts.

8. Utilize guest posts for blog success. Guest posts are a “two way” street of blogging success; they’re a win-win; they’re just great. When done well, guesting helps out the host blogger and guest blogger increase their audiences.

FamilyWhy Rebellious Kids Make More Money Later In Life - see reasons. by Berrypie(op): 8:59pm On Jul 25, 2015
Who knew not listening to your parents as a kid could pay off?

New research published in the journal Developmental Psychology found that children who didn’t listen to their parents while growing up ended up with a higher income, according to Quartz.

“We might assume that students who scored high on this scale might earn a higher income because they are more willing to be more demanding during critical junctures such as when negotiating salaries or raises,” the researchers wrote in the published study.

Additionally, they noted that those who were more likely to push back against their superiors as children “also have higher levels of willingness to stand up for their own interests and aims, a characteristic that leads to more favorable individual outcomes—in our case, income.”

“We also cannot rule out that individuals who are likely or willing to break rules get higher pay for unethical reasons,” the researchers added.

As Quartz notes, this isn’t the first time a study like this has linked childhood trouble making to wages in adulthood. In fact, “agreeableness” has been found previously to equate to a lower income.

The research — conducted by the University of Luxembourg, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and The Free University of Berlin — analyzed data from 745 children in Luxembourg from 1968 to 2008.

BusinessNew And Aspiring Bloggers Should Read This Helpful Piece by Berrypie(op): 8:31pm On Jul 24, 2015
Stumbled upon this letter addressed to new bloggers on Ogbonge blog today and even though it is an old post (since 2013), I think it is gold, it will help new and would be bloggers a great lot. Enjoy below.

http://www.ogbongeblog.com/2013/10/an-open-letter-to-newly-ushered-bloggers.html

Dear New Bloggers,

Blogging can really be a good source of income if you know what you’re actually doing in the starting point, but according to a survey, there were 215,675,903 functional blogs online in 2009 alone, and more blogs are constantly joining this crowd of websites, including your own new addition.

This goes to show that there is a fierce competition on the internet and when you as a new blogger don’t know the exact principles and strategies that currently exists in the blogosphere at the moment and which to follow; then you might find it hard ever making money online.

With that said, I came up with this post to show you what you should endeavour to do first before any other thing in the blogosphere. These things will help you get better traffic and possibly make you money if you endeavour to follow them religiously. So these are the 4 things you must do first -

Add Profound Value to Your Blog First

“The Internet makes money for you when you build something that is real and when it matters to people” - Darren Rowse

This is very vital, so don’t neglect to do this option tirelessly.

When you have started doing a lot of guest blogging and blog commenting, people will surely visit your blog, but what will keep them coming back is the value you add to your blog.

This value are in terms of the quality of posts you have on your blog; whether they solve readers problems or not, all these are the factors that determines whether people will stay or never come back to your blog.

Therefore as a newbie, focusing on solving your readers’ problem first will allow you tackle problems and find solutions to them. These solutions are usually what will bring you more knowledge and make you the go-to guy for that area of blogging that you cover.

Read Like Your Life Depends On It

One of the mistakes I made during the period I newly started blogging was not taking reading as a serious approach in blogging. I hardly read top bloggers’ posts in my niche then, even though what they teach are basically what can improve my blog traffic and conversions if I applied them.

However, it was later I started reading everything I could lay my hands on in my niche, I subscribed to numerous top blog’s email lists, read every posts they posted, practicalize what I read in everyway possible et cetera., and later, I started to notice that I began to have more knowledge pertaining my niche than I used to have before when I was just posting on my blog only.

Likewise, in case you’re not reading everything about your niche now, then you should probably start today.

For example, you can check Problogger.net for beginners guide to blogging; Viperchill.com for SEO and affiliate marketing tips; Smartpassiveincome.com for tips on making money online.

Also join relevant groups and forums that covers topics pertaining to your niche so that you can increase your knowledge on the topic you’re supposed to blog on.

Start Building Links Consistently

Links are the life of any blog. Google and lots of other search engines use links pointing to a blog or website to gauge how high they should rank it on their Search Rankings.

The reason why problogger.net is topping nearly all the top keywords associated with the “blogging” topic is simply as a result of the high quality links pointing straight to Darren Roswe’s blog which might have run into hundred of thousands of links and that’s exactly what Google and other search engines loves.

This means, the more links you get pointing to your blog, the better search engines would rank your blog high for competitive keywords that will bring you more traffic and possibly make you money on the long run.

Apart from publishing quality content on your blog, there are basically 2 ways to increase the links pointing to your own blog in other to rank better on different search engines.

==> Blog Commenting

This effective strategy is basically leaving thoughtful, well written comments on blogs in other to increase the links pointing to your website. Believe me, this method works very well if you don't abuse it.

Remember to leave good comments that resonates with the topic being discussed on the post you’re leaving the comment. If you ignore this advice, your comments might never see the light of day.

So don’t spam, instead add value to the conversation and the webmaster will surely approve your comments which will translate into backlinks to your blog.

==> Guest Blogging

For those of you who haven’t heard of guest blogging before, it’s the submission of blog content (a blog post) to another blog in other to get backlinks and traffic from that blog straight to your own blog.

This is the same strategy that Bamidele Onibalusi, a Nigerian, used to grow his blog to a PR 4 blog that has now turned into an authority website in the “writing tips” niche.

You also can leverage this strategy and get the same result which Bamidele is enjoying now if you’re willing to guest post furiously on many top blogs out there.

You can easily search Google for sites that accept guest posts in your niche.

Start an Email List For Your Blog - NOW!

Like the old saying, “The money is in the list”. This can’t be overemphasized enough. The people who will end up buying your eBooks, share your contents, promote you freely and make you more money than you can ever imagine are those people in your email list.

So strive to begin one today if you haven’t already gotten one for your blog. These below are 3 top auto-responders in the internet which you can use to grow your email list -

Aweber - Sign up with $1
MailChimp - (free up to the 2,000th subscriber; I personally use them for all my websites)
Getresponse - Free for 30 days

In case you’re a newbie and don’t really have any money to spend on blogging at the moment, you can go for Mailchimp.

In conclusion, doing all this will help you stay on track and make you money as quickly as possible.

But Remember:

“Laziness is just like a ‘rocking chair’. You’re obviously doing something (rocking back and forth on it). But you’re going nowhere.”

So if you’re a lazy blogger, then say goodbye to the dream of ever making money online.

Every blogger I know that has gone ahead in their respective niche are hardworking individuals.

On my part, I hardly sleep at night all in the name of blogging. So strive to work hard and sooner or later, blogging will definitely work for you - I assure you, it will.

Don’t Give up.

WebmastersIs your site ready for an average user? by Berrypie(op):
If you have been using computers and surfing the Internet for some time, as is likely the case since you're visiting a site for webmasters, you would probably have acquired a large number of skills that enable you to find things on the Internet, navigate a site, deal with the annoyances that some sites pose, and the like. The problem with such proficiency is that it is easy to lose touch with how a large portion of Internet users actually operate on the Web, and thus design a site that does not take advantage of the special needs of these "average users".
What is the "Average User"?

I realise that some of you will probably take exception to my use of the term "average user". After all, it is difficult to pinpoint what an average user is. The "average user" in the computer industry is vastly different from, say, the "average user" in the agricultural sector.

My use of "average user" here might appear to some to have the connotation of "novice user". I refrained from using "novice" because many of these users are not exactly new to using a computer yet their level of competence in surfing the Internet and their knowledge of the use of the computer are at best rudimentary. With the explosion of the Internet reaching into many homes in the world, it seems to me that such users are continually increasing in number. Where once upon a time when we think of a computer user we imagine a nerd, now, just about everyone uses a computer, even my elderly parents. This widespread use of computers also means that the computer is no longer the province of an elite few who actually understand the innards of a computer. The average user is no longer that computer professional, but the large number of people who treat the computer as an appliance, somewhat the way we regard our toasters or television sets.

This in turn has implications on the things you can do on your site and the things you might want to avoid.

PoliticsThe mothers of Ex President Olusegun Obasanjo's 21 children Revealed by Berrypie(op): 1:01pm On Jul 22, 2015
FORMER President Olusegun Obasanjo, in his recent controversial book, My Watch, listed the names of his 21 children but he did not mention their mothers.

ENCOMIUM Weekly can, however, reveal the mothers of these children and other women that had dalliances with the two-time president of the country.

The mothers of the children include…

MRS. OLUREMI OBASANJO, his first wife, who he married on Saturday, June 22, 1963, at Camberwell Green Registry, South East London. She was just 21. Mrs. Oluremi Obasanjo is the mother of six of the 21 children of the former president.

They are Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, who was born on April 27, 1967; Busola Obasanjo, who was born on November 5, 1968; Olusegun Obasanjo, the first son, who was born on November 4, 1969; Olugbenga Obasanjo, who was born in 1971; Enitan Obasanjo, who was born on September 24, 1975 and Damilola Obasanjo, the last of the woman’s children who was born in 1982.

MRS. STELLA OBASANJO, the late former First Lady died on Sunday, October 23, 2005, in Spain after a failed tummy tuck surgery. She had only a child, Olumuyiwa Obasanjo, who was born in 1977, for the former president.

GOLD ORUH, a former director at Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), who met the former president as a reporter during the civil war in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. She had two children for him. Her children are Funke and Seun Obasanjo.

MRS. TAIWO OBASANJO, is the twin sister of Mr. Kenny Martins, the politician and former Chairman of Police Equipment Fund. She also has two children for the former president. One of her children is Esther Olubunmi Obasanjo who got married in August 2010.

Mrs. Taiwo Obasanjo has since reverted to her maiden name, Martins. Since her secret dalliance with late Godwin Daboh became public knowledge, the former president distanced himself from her.

Late MRS. LYNDA OBASANJO, nee Soares, was another woman who had children for Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. She was said to have had two children for him before she was killed on February 14, 1987, in daylight by armed robbers. She was 45. We really don’t know the names of her two children among the 21 children. Her cousin, Priscilla Soares was later made MD, Nicon by Obasanjo.

MRS. MABEL OKOSODE OBASANJO is another woman who has children for the former army general. We, however, don’t know how many children she has for him and their names.

MRS. TITILAYO OBASANJO, is another woman who has a child or children for the old man.

COL. ADEBOYE OBASANJO, mother’s name is not known. But according to Mrs. Oluremi Obasanjo in her book, Bitter Sweet My Life with Obasanjo, she is a mother of two and a divorcee brought to the former general by one of his aunts who lives in Arigbajo, Ogun State, when she (Remi) was chased out of their Ikoyi (Lagos) matrimonial home for challenging his (Obasanjo) philandering.

KOFOWOROLA MOJISOLA OBASANJO, who got married to Peter Kenneth Blackshire, a British Baptist minister in 2002, shares the same mother with Tunde Baiyewu, the British singer of Nigerian descent. Tunde Baiyewu’s mother lost her husband and relocated to Nigeria with her two children. She met Obasanjo who was still an officer in the army. Their dalliance produced Kofo Obasanjo.

MRS. BOLA OBASANJO, is the woman that is presently living with Chief Obasanjo. She also has a child for him called Funsho Obasanjo. The woman was formerly based in London, but had to relocate to Nigeria to be his resident wife.

There are other women in Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s life though they did not have children for him.

HIS OTHER WOMEN

MRS. MOWO SOFOWORA, a lace fabric merchant and a married woman started dating him as far back as 1973, when Obasanjo was a Lt. Col. in the army.

Mrs. Oluremi Obasanjo mentioned Mrs. Mowo Sofowora as one of the women who caused problems in her marriage. She was said to be older than Obasanjo.

MRS. LABO SALAKO, the wife of late Captain Salako, who died in 1972, at Argungu in a motor accident. Late Captain Salako was Obasanjo’s mate in London. After the death of her husband, she moved in with the Obasanjos at their Ikoyi (Lagos) residence on the advice of Obasanjo and the wife, Remi, acquiesced with her husband. But before the wife knew what was going on, Labo was already having a rollicking affair with her husband.

To make matters worse, she wrote Obasanjo a letter in which she advised him to divorce his wife, Remi. Remi got hold of the letter and made several photocopies and sent them to friends and relations. This was what led to Remi’s departure from her matrimonial home for several months. The story is in Mrs. Oluremi Obasanjo’s book, Bitter-Sweet.

MRS. LAMIDE ADEGBENRO is the wife of Chief Niyi Adegbenro, the former Commissioner for Agriculture in Ogun State and a kinsman of Chief Obasanjo.

Lamide Adegbenro, who should be in her 60s now was also mentioned by Mrs. Oluremi Obasanjo in her book as one of the many mistresses of her husband.

Former Vice President, Abubakar Atiku also mentioned her during his face-off with Obasanjo that she got a gift of a brand new Peugeot 607 and $110,000 that was paid into her NATWEST Bank, UK account in 2003, by Otunba Fasawe.

MRS. ALO, a former Vice Principal of Queens College, Yaba, Lagos, was also alleged to be a mistress of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.

Mrs. Alo was the Vice Principal of Queens College when Iyabo Obasanjo was a student there. So, the day Iyabo saw her in a swimming trunk at her father’s swimming pool in Ota Farm, Ogun State, she nearly assaulted her if not for her mother’s intervention.

Mrs. Alo, we gathered is still very close to Chief Olusegun Obasanjo as she is a member of the board of directors of Obasanjo’s school, The Bells.

THE PRINCESS, A princess of Lagos, who is a lover of white apparels was also said to have been romantically involved with the former president immediately after the death of late First Lady, Mrs. Stella Obasanjo.

In fact, the rumour mill had it that she virtually took over the president’s private life when the First Lady died and was positioning herself as the former president’s wife before one of the children, Funke openly told her she was not welcomed in the family.

It was in order to wave off the influence of the princess in their father’s life that the children came together to impress on him to marry another woman.

It was this pressure that brought about Mama Funsho, Mrs. Bola Obasanjo relocating from London to Nigeria as his official wife.
