"Take The War To Their Enclaves And Flush Out The Remnants Of The Boko Haram Terrorists"....COAS Charge Troops Of Operation Lafiya Dole.

In line with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai's directive to troops of Operation Lafiya Dole to take the war to their enclaves and flush out the remnants of the Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs), the Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1 Operation Lafiya Dole Brigadier General Abdulmalik Bulama Biu charged troops under command to redouble their effort with renewed vigour, gallantry and doggedness in the fight against insurgency and terrorism in the Theatre.

Towards achieving this, the Commander 28 Task Force Brigade Sector 1 Operation Lafiya Dole, Brigadier General Mohammed Usman charged troops of 117 Task Force Battalion (Bn) to be proactive and committed in the fight against insurgency while commissioning the Bn's Quick Response Group (QRG) Special Motor Cycle Section recently in Chibok.

General Usman stated that the motor bikes will certainly boost the fighting capacity and morale of the troops in the fight against Boko Harram Terrorists and Insurgency within the theatre of Operation Lafiya Dole especially around the Chibok general area. He emphasized that with the creation of the Special Motor Cycle Section it will enable the troops to chase the terrorist completely out of their enclaves.

He further urged the troops to intensify the conduct of clearance and confidence building patrol within their Area of Responsibility which include Mbalala, Peyeso, Gatamarwa, Gogomdi, Shawa and Kwada amongst others in order to deny the insurgents freedom of movements and operations.

Receiving the Motor Bikes on behalf of the Bn, the Commanding Officer (CO), Lieutenant Colonel Abdulrahaman Bello commended the effort of the Nigerian Army (NA) especially the Chief of Army Staff(COAS) for approving the creation of the outfit which has no doubt boosted the fighting spirit of his troops.

Colonel Bello assured the Leadership of the NA of his Bn's readiness and commitment in the fight against insurgency and promised that the Motor Bikes will be deployed as appropriate to chase the terrorists out of their enclaves and neutralised them as well.

Highlight of the ceremony include commissioning of the Special Motor Cycle Section and Demonstrations by troops of 117 Task Force Battalion to the admiration of the Brigade Commander and his staff Officers.

Present at the occasion were the
Chief of Staff and other Principal Staff Officers of the Brigade.

Not just this. Their PR is very bad. All base that was lost to ISWAP within the last few weeks has been under attack but gallantly repelled by troops over 3-5 times with casualties in ISWAP but none of these made the news. Few minutes after a military base was lost, it's all over the internet. I don't understand how these things work.

Most vase also lack LR patrol capabilities. Just clearance/patrol ops around town and nothing strategic. Immediately BHT/ISWAP puts the patrol unit under serious ambush, the base gets disorganized with artillery and yes, they make use of howitzers too. The base are already known by ISWAP terrorist so soldiers are always on defensive position and always expecting an attack.

Also heard the Mi-35m got hit by a RPG fire too and not just AA.

145bn is a very busy unit. They've been under several attacks from Gashigar to Damasak. This thing will still continue so something needs to be done. ISWAP has been trying to take control of the town and now we lost an hind there. The aircraft frequents that location so I guess ISWAP got their fire direction well planned.
Till now the Gallant effort of soldier securing Damasak, a town bordering Diffa Region of Niger Republic as not been reported. Several scores of BHT where killed & wounded.

MILITARY ISSUES ARE NOT ALL COMERS AFFAIRS

1. The Nigerian Army (NA) has observed with concern the recent negative reportage and criticisms of her activities in the social and mainstream media especially as it relates to equipment and attacks on troops’ locations in Operation LAFIYA DOLE. It is further observed that some individuals and groups in and outside Nigeria have been making false claims and allegations that Boko Haram terrorists are better equipped than the Armed Forces Nigeria (AFN). Nothing can be further from the truth as the AFN have universally accepted doctrines, are better trained, equipped and well -motivated. Therefore, there is no basis for comparison between the Nigerian soldier and the Boko Haram terrorists. Whereas the Nigerian military system is voluntary and enlistment or commission are borne out of patriotism and love for the country, the terrorists on the other hand are indoctrinated and in most cases coerced to take up arms against the state and humanity.

2. These issues are further exacerbated by a section of the media, possibly at the behest of some disgruntled elements in the society. The attacks on NA troops are not as a result of superior arms or equipment, rather it is due to the use of psychological weapon which is as good as any lethal weapons. The psychological attacks have been further aggravated by some unpatriotic elements in the society that take joy and pride in propagating such falsehoods.

3. It is surprising that some Nigerians, for whatever mundane reasons, would compare a group of confused and misguided elements operating under the influence of drugs and warped ideologies to NA troops. It will be necessary to observe that unlike the NA, the terrorists live amongst the populace and used that opportunity to spread their propaganda. NA fights according to set down ROE while the BHT does not. Also, while the NA seeks to protect lives and properties, the renegades seek to destroy same.

4. Our conviction is that these negative comments about the NA are aimed at demoralizing the troops and breaking its cohesion. They are borne out of selfish, political and unpatriotic reasons with a view to bringing down the government of the day. We totally condemn and reject the insinuations that the BHT are better equipped than the NA. Rather, we are bold to say and re-affirm that NA troops are better trained, equipped and better motivated than the rag-tag BHT. Indeed, there are no basis for comparison.

5. It should be realized that the use of psychological attack on the NA is as potent as the use of arms and ammunition. Unfortunately, the psychological attacks are not being waged against the NA by the BHT alone but also by some misguided elements both within and out of the country, either under the guise of humanitarian and Human Rights concerns or low morale. Far from that, most of these false allegations were based on selfish and mostly political reasons by unpatriotic elements. Despite extant rules, these group of persons discuss highly classified military issues which they are mostly ignorant about on various media platforms. Indeed, those who should know better are the ones perpetrating these acts. The psychological effects of spreading misinformation and fake news are grievous and inimical to national security and should not be allowed to continue. Conduct prejudicial to military discipline and cowardice as being exhibited by few misguided soldiers should not be misconstrued as a failure on the part of the military or the government.

6. Military equipment and welfare are known issues in the NA, and when such problems are observed, appropriate steps are taken to remedy them. The President has provided for NA in terms of welfare and equipment. Nigerians are enjoined to note that military issues are not all comers’ affairs. The Nigerian Army will always address its challenges and will take charge of any issue without any external prompting, criticism or condemnation. We will remain responsive and professional in the discharge of our constitutional responsibilities.

There's nothing bad about what Babaowen posts. The Nigerian system is rotten and the politicians and military high command are not prepared to fix it.

You need to wake the fvck up! If the country collapses due to incompetence, corruption and ineptitude we all go down with it one way or the other, whether you live in Nigeria or abroad.

The many of you whom you claim avoids his posts are pitifully ignorant. I desire a military that is at-least as strong and as competent as that of Algeria. If it means we'll have to criticize the military until we get a professional, competent, well-equipped and disciplined force, so be it!!
There is nothing bad in his post truly,of course most of these articles are online circulating. The Nigerian military and system is rotten;........... the military high command is not prepared to fix it, completely true. The NAF was shit years back and the army was far worst etc.

When incompetence and Corruption was at is peak in the military, people like hardly said or comment anything about it huh
Now claiming people are avoiding the his post and are pitifully ignorant might derail the thread, a trait which you yourself exhibit.

NEW YEAR MESSAGE FROM THE CHIEF OF THE AIR STAFF

It is with great pleasure, and gratitude to the Almighty, that I hereby wish all officers, airmen/airwomen and civilian staff of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) a Happy and Prosperous Year 2019! Let me congratulate us all for entering into this new year full of hope and expectations, and also express my profound thanks to you, for your patriotism, dedication to duty, commitment and hard work, as well as your countless sacrifices made in service to our Great Nation.

Over the past three-and-a-half years, the NAF has made giant strides and recorded significant achievements in the ongoing fight against terrorism, insurgency and other forms of criminality in the country. In this regard, our modest accomplishments have been greatly facilitated by the enhancement of our aircraft holdings through acquisition of new platforms and reactivation of existing ones. In addition, we have raised the standards of professionalism in the Service through robust human capacity development, coupled with the expansion of NAF organisational structure and systematic augmentation of our personnel strength. Also of note has been the focus on improving personnel welfare and result-oriented Research and Development (R&grin) which have had a marked positive impact on our operational effectiveness.

The totality of these achievements enabled us to project Air Power, not only within our country in the various theatres of conflict but also beyond our shores. Our Alpha Jets were the first and only fighter aircraft deployed in the Gambia to actualise the mandate of the Gambian people and facilitate the peaceful handover of political power to President Adama Barrow. The C-130s, flying the Nigerian flag, also transported humanitarian relief materials to the Sierra Leonean people after the unfortunate mudslides that affected that country in August 2017. The NAF thus stands ready to continue to fulfil its primary responsibilities whilst also providing aid to civil authority in whatever roles that may from time to time be required.

The outgone Year 2018 was indeed marked by both challenges and opportunities; however, the NAF, with the vital support of all stakeholders, was able to exploit the opportunities while overcoming the challenges encountered along the way. In the fight against Boko Haram, we saw the emergence of new tactics as well as the introduction of highly experienced and skilled fighters and technology, as ISIS elements, dislodged from Syria, relocated to the North East of our country. Our gallant fighter and helicopter gunship pilots are adapting creditably to these emerging nuances and making good progress, despite recent setbacks.

The Year 2019 similarly promises to be filled with challenges and opportunities, and we must gear up to make the most of the opportunities for greater service delivery, whilst leveraging our collective resolve to surmount the inherent challenges. I therefore enjoin all NAF personnel to march into the future with the rugged and optimistic determination for which we are known, while remaining professional in the discharge of your constitutional duty of ensuring the security of our Beloved Nation and its Good People. You must be courageous, take the battle to the terrorists and fight them to the finish not minding the malicious propaganda of the terrorists and their sympathisers. You must also remember, in the course of your duties, to always show compassion and respect for all law-abiding citizens. Furthermore, as the 2019 General Elections draw near, I urge you all to remain apolitical in your professional duties, and firmly resist any entreaties to be used against the interest of our Beloved Nation by any unscrupulous elements. Nonetheless, you are encouraged to exercise your legitimate rights to vote for the candidates of your choice on Election Day.

The various achievements recorded by the NAF over the years would not have been possible without the enabling environment and resources provided by the Federal Government under the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR. We therefore thank Mr President for the confidence reposed in the Service and pledge our commitment to even greater output in this new year. We also appreciate the tremendous support from the National Assembly, Ministry of Defence, Defence Headquarters, Nigerian Army and Navy as well as other security agencies, and, of course, the Nigerian people.

Finally, I once again wish you and your families a Happy and Prosperous New Year!
