If he is in a big city, then the process is longer, if small city, then it shouldn't go beyond 2 weeks.
He should call directly the person that told him to submit those documents, the number would be in the email he received.

Thought to share my update here as I’ve benefited from others here as well.
7/7/2022: My spouse(Blue Card)and I(Family Reunion) applied for an appointment/interview together. My Husband got a date immediately while I didn’t.
28/9/2022: My spouse arrived Germany on a blue card visa.
24/10/2022: My spouse wrote the German embassy in Nigeria on my behalf to appeal the 14 month waiting period for an appointment on health concerns. We waited this long so my spouse could attach exit and entry visa stamps in the email just so they know we’re no longer together in Nigeria.
25/10/2022: Embassy responded to the email saying the “embassy no longer grants priority appointments to spouses and children of researchers, blue card holders, scholars, students e.t.c
We were sad to say the least but decided to try again at a later time.
15/11/2022: My spouse reached out to the embassy again on my behalf on health grounds and they responded almost immediately with the same response as before. We were determined to try again, still.
16/11/2022: To my utter amazement, I got an appointment email from the embassy. This was after they rejected our previous appeal barely 24 hours earlier. They even gave me a date less than 2 weeks from when they responded.
29/11/2022: Went for my family reunion interview at the embassy. No hassles. Went with all my documents except 1 as my spouse was yet to get a blue card in Germany. The interviewer said my visa may take a while as I didn’t have my spouse’s blue card at the time but requested I send it once we get it.
16/12/2022: Sent my spouse’s Fiktionsbescheinigung to the embassy.
The rest of December: Waited with bated breath with no response from the embassy. Called their lines in Lagos to no avail. Was only told to wait.
18/01/2023: Got a mail from the embassy requesting my travel date.
19/01/2023: Submitted my travel documents to the embassy.
25/01/2023: Received my stamped passport.
8/02/2023: Arrived Germany.
In all, i was only separated from my spouse for 4 months as against the standard long waiting period.
Thanks to everyone who responded to my enquiries here. It’s a journey that requires a lot of patience indeed.

MY wife was there yesterday and she paid #17,500 for our toddler, and they collected cash, no transfer or paying in the bank. As for adults, it is now #34,500

Please what is the required size of apartment/room for family reunion in germany.

I am studied, live and work in Germany. I want to bring over my spouse (no child yet). Is a studio which is also called self-contained of 35m2 enough? That's where I am living currently. But I do not know if it will be accepted. By quadrat meter, I guess this meets the requirement based on my research but it's just that it is 1 room.

Some people told me to go and get a 2 rooms apartment (here in Germany, they refer 1 room and parlour as 2 rooms). They said it's the number of rooms that determines and not the quadrat meters.

Any info about the room requirement. Please help. Thanks

2. They wanted my official contract to know if I had a limited or unlimited contract. I sent them MEldebescheinigung, house contract, 3 months pay slip, job contract, and a letter from my landloard stating she allowed to live in my house

- Did your wife not go with the affidavit of spinsterhood to the interview? Or why did they request for another?
- Any particular reason Auslanderbehörde requested for additional documents? Could you list the documents you ended up providing?

Embassy Request for Passport: 3rd August, 2022
Recieved Passport with visa: 17th August, 2022

We bless God for the journey so far, we are still waiting for that of my son.

Well, they just wrote my wife yesterday to bring her passport and travel insurance, so she will be going on Monday to drop it. So yes, they are still answering people, and be encouraged, yours is almost coming to an end

Once you have your blue card, then your wife should apply for family reunion, she will get it within 2 months. Get to Germany first and get your Blue Card ASAP. Then when you have it, then she should apply for family reunion, a week after the application follow up with emails, they would hurry it up.

I have a couple of questions, I will really appreciate if it is answered.

My company applied for pre-approval some weeks back but we got a letter from Federal Employment Agency that I don't need pre-approval because I qualify for Blue card. I went on to apply for blue card appointment and I did my interview two weeks ago. Now the problem is I can't get an appointment date for my wife because I applied to blue card and not via the skilled immigration act category. I urged my Employer to try to apply for pre-approval for me once again on the basis that my wife needs it to get a faster appointment date but they are a bit reluctant to do that, They advised I get to Germany first and try to reapply for pre-approval. Now my questions:-

1) is it possible to apply again for pre-approval when I get to Germany ?
2) Is there anyone who has experienced this problem ( Pre-approval denied because of blue card qualification ) and was still able to get a faster appointment date for their spouse?
3) Is it possible to apply again for pre-approval by myself ?
4) I have booked a family reunion appointment for my wife, it takes a year as we know. Is it possible to get her a visit visa while awaiting an appointment date for family reunion ? If yes how long does it take to get an appointment for visit visa ?

Will the health insurance certificate issued here be accepted as the travel insurance that will be requested when she finally gets her visa approval mail or will I have to do another travel insurance in Nigeria ?

Which Germany? Cause I know so many master's students that were rejected family reunion visa. Only PhD students get approved. If you find people, then it must not be Nigerians.

Regardless of what programme you are .

As Msc student you can file for family reunion and you would be granted.

But it's much easier if you hold any of the EU scholarship programme example DAAD.

A self sponsored Msc student family reunion is though very difficult without any of the EU scholarship, but still you would granted if you fulfill all the criteria.

Its time consuming and only for the strong mind's

Yea, My rent will still be running, I will just sublet it out, so that is not a problem. Do you know questions asked the spouse based in Germany?

I am new here but are you going to keep your rent running why you are away...your living space is required and if you are in nigeria for the interview...you should return after the lawyer's verification to handle abh correspondence. then when you are done with abh you can choose to go back to nigeria...i dont really know but this guys here can use post like yesterday

I don't intend staying beyond 6 months, I stayed 5 months last year, so I plan on staying 5 months, go back and stay another 3-4 months, but do you know the questions or documents they ask the spouses based in Germany, so that I can probably pre-provide them

Except you are already a German citizen, for any stay longer than 6 Months outside Germany, you might loose your residence permit.

I doubt if you will be allowed access into the embassy even as the spouse.

Please my wife applied for Family reunion in Feb 2021,so we are expecting a date soon. My company just approved that I can run home office from Nigeria for the whole of 2022(till my family get their visas). I want to find out if my presence in Nigeria will fasten her process, like going to the interview with her or when the Abh want to check my documents, I can send them from Nigeria. What do you guys think? What exactly does the Abh ask from the partners in Germany?

Site is now open, I got a date but National Visa - Study is not showing any availability, so I chose National Visa - Others and there are available dates.
I was able to got 15th Sept, funny enough both forms in the study and others are same. Just choose in your purpose of visit as Study which is same in the other National Visa - Study page.

Do you know anyone that has gone with others?
