When we r busy creating issues out of something as mainstream as Islamic finance, serious countries in our neighbourhood are tapping into the trillion dollar sector. "South Africa, where less than 2 percent of the 49.1 million people are Muslim, is looking to tap the Islamic finance industry’s $1 trillion in assets. Moody’s Investors Service rates the nation A3, the second-highest investment grade on the continent, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. “Islamic investors are prevented from buying conventional debt, so there is pretty strong ongoing demand for Islamic debt,” Mark Watts, head of fixed-income at National Bank of Abu Dhabi PJSC, which manages 4.1 billion dirhams ($1.1 billion), said by phone. “The issuance of sukuk is a good way to access this market.” http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-12-06/south-africa-seeks-banks-to-advise-it-on-structuring-sale-of-sukuk-bonds.html |
Guy this is just the beginning we haven't seen anything yet |
As IMF boss arrives Nigeria, it is well known that the fund had been in d past a staunch proponent of fuel subsidy removal and reduced education funding by govt. Now they have one of their own as the cordinator of our economy (finance minister). The question is what does IMF wants in Nigeria. Ask the southamericans how their romance with IMF ended up during the argentinian debt crisis, or the south east Asian economies during their own crisis, there is not a single place where the IMF has entered which doesn't end up in crisis. Now it's Nigeria! Convensional economics predict that an economy like that of the US and to some extent continental europe with their ageing population should have a surplus to cater for their retiring citizens, but the US has over a trillion dollars in debt. China on the other hand with it's young population and growth potentials should be financing it's investment in new growth opportunities with deficits and borrowing, but china has over a trillion dollars in reserve. Thus it's no surprise that the focus is now on Africa's reserve and resources, which will be systematically re-plundered through series of vodoonomic policies which we won't understand and neither will we care to due to our short sightedness. What can I say except good luck Nigeria with your new found romance with the IMF. ![]() |
GUNNERS 4 LIFE! Off to kick some city butts |
the guy is a spam hes been posting this same youtube link on every reply to every topic. i wont be suprised if its a viral link |
![]() i have noticed anytime fuel subsidy is mentioned, every one on this forum turns into an economist or public affair analyst! so i have decided to rephrase the question in the average nigerians language: DO U SUPPORT MAKING THE PRICE OF FUEL GO AS HIGH AS OVER 100NAIRA/ LTR? and for the benefit of the NL vodoonomists PLS TELL US WHAT THE MULTIPLIER EFFECT WILL BE ON THE PRICE LEVEL OF GARRI, RICE, BEANS, TRANSPORT FARES etc. and with my limited knowledge of economics, every nation on on the planet is trying to stimulate domestic consumption as an engine for economic growth. so i ask HOW DO U THINK FUEL PRICE AT OVER 100NAIRA (AND THE EXPONENTIAL MULTIPLIER EFFECT ON OTHER COMMODITIES) WILL AFFECT THE AVERAGE NIGERIANS DISPOSABLE INCOME AND HENCE CONSUMPTION? let the lay man discussion beging, ![]() |
as much as I am not for or against the topic. I will like the oponents to answer the allegation by the proponent GenBuhari:we shouldnt sacrifice prudence for convinience, just because abacha is a dead man we all love to hate. NB. b4 anyone attacks me pls answer the question first. |
How much is a packet/mudu/carton of bomb sef? Instead of harassing the masses with fuel subsidy, can't the govt remove the subsidy on bomb or tax it or increase the tariff? On a serious note the lawlessness in this country is getting our of hand under the so called anointed good luck, I think no one will argue if we change his name to bad luck. |
Guys stop playing associate ajebutta. Ok stop eaten the akara from the akara seller, or infact the suya from mai suya. Give us a break please. I used to luv those shayi days because u have the choice of determining how thin or thick u want it brewed, and it has this natural ginger they use u can't get from any ginger tea. ![]() By the way those talking of hygene, although it's a point, but u guys cant embark on food tourism. U should see how the street foods of bankok in Thailand or the famous street scorpions of beijing in china, trust me at first I also stayed back from eaten those when I was there until I saw my Europeans friends rushing these street foods, and trust me those foods really taste better than restaurants. |
fresh_dude:Gbam! Why don't GEJ slap samba if he feels bad at the exploits of BH or the other way at that of JRC, these guys don't give a f.uck, our it seems the chronic poverty we endure or see others endure daily has warped our collective phsyche, if not how in heavens name do you as a sane person condone murder for what ever reason, shouldn't we be questioning our leaders for failing to provide something as basic as securing lives and properties (forget electricity), if we can't do that, then of what use is democracy or the right of custodianship of our petro dollars we bestow on our leaders, if we will resort to killing ourselves at the most flimsiest excuse, and allow criminals reign in our midst. There is something fundamentally wrong with our ways. |
Wily¬Wily:As I type my cousin lies on gwagwalada with a leg short courtesy of suleja bomb, so don't play me the victim card, and anyone who has sincerely witnessed a bomb blast scene will not wish it on anyone even his enemy trust me. And since when did killing in the south become a solution to killing in the south, no wonder we have dumb leaders, we r also dumb as well. They say if u think education is expensive try ignorance, trust me u don't want to try conflict or war just because u take ur relative peace for granted, |
How sad, I have never seen any northerner here condoning or encouraging BH, on the contrary they condemn and try to dispell the popular believe that every northerner supports BH.(if am wrong provide a link to the contrary) but some here openly and outrightly support and encourage murder in the south! NOW TELL ME WHO R THE EXTREMIST.? |

And let the subsidy conspiracy begin! Like some one said to those that voted GEJ not PDP, u can also buy the petrol and not the price when it gets to 100+ naira. Olori burukus. |
^ my guy I fell u. But we have experimented this with yaradua and GEJ, but both have been disappointing failures, that's why I would want a tested hand to lay the foundation. Take the ribadu efcc with all it's flaws, nonetheless ribadu set some sort of precedent on what a chairman or lady should be or be better than, thus when we compare faridas performance with her predecessor the difference is clear. I wouldn't mind if we get somebody better than buhari (infect I would prefer it) but the cost of trial and errors in trying to find a good leader is high (the cost is waisted years and lives) do u get my point? |
Dis Guy:All u need is some addicted teenagers pinging their life away with their various device, no much skills needed just the interest, and u will make a hit if u can harness that interest |
ZUBY77: ![]() Guy ur imaginations might not be far fetched! |
The earlier we take control of our cyberspace the better b4 all this multinational cyber giants dominate them, from e commerce to search content and now video sharing google sees what Nigerian entrepreneurs don't see, and that is huge potentials of the nigerian cyber space. Kudos to NL for scratching the surface, but if the owners don't get innovative I won't be sup prised if NL is outclicked! As strong as google and Facebook are is it is still number 2 or 3 in chinas cyber space, kudos to the likes of xionei and the likes, and mind u chinas online population is twice the size of the whole US (both online and offline). Nigeria is Africa's china in terms of online population (10x to all those BB girls). So I call on all the cyber entrepreneurs to take advantage, coz in the future is IT. |
I was discussing with a an Igbo lady at the high court today in Abuja and she was telling me that although she voted GEJ she feels he has failed her. But then she was insisting it is the turn of the Igbo by 2015 even if it's a baby! I just wondered wasn't it this kind of sentiments that made her and the likes of her force an ill prepared president on us? Yet they are prepared to commit the same mistake in principle again. The dilemma for people like me and those who still believe in this country like buhari is, do we fold our hands and do nothing since there are still people hell bent on conscripting the whole country to term after term of wasted opportunities? Or do we keep on agitating for good leadership even if the majority detest it? I for one am very comfortable and I presume buhari is too, infact God willing this time next yr I will be out of this God forsaken country, but it is the poor and down trodden who haven't tasted anything close to good leadership or out of curse insist on the worst of us leading us, that I pity, for they haven't seen anything yet. |
freecocoa:This are the kind of the sentiments I want us to avoid on this thread please, let's be objective, and judge or condemn the man based on his antecedents |
The reason I want him for even at least 4 years is that the this country is on dangerous trajectory as regards to corruption, and not even a good person ( we've seen yaradua) or a humble person ( we r seeing GEJ) is enough to get out of this mess. That's why I believe we need a strong Personality to give us clear break for the past, only after that can so called 'good' people like GEJ can have a chance of performance, but not in a system dominated by political vultures and hyenas |

Too bad if that be the case |
I am asking this question not because I am not aware of the ethnic ranting related to this topic on this forum. But after carefully analysing it this is what I have concluded The northern generals are against him The traditional rulers of the north don't want him to rule The elite politicians are scared of him too The corrupt and rich also dread him. And yet all his past positions are prove of his leadership abilities, ( I was at gwagalada teaching hospital to visit a bomb blast victim, and I still see PTF busses and pillows still in the hospital testament to bukari's ability to deliver). Even when we disagree on Bihari it is on some unfounded sentiments but not on on his record of incorruptibility, honesty and humility. And thus I ask fellow NL to objectively tell me why do they fear him? Shouldn't this tell us that the bad elements among us what to keep the status quo of corrupt leaders changing turns north, east and south? |
The critical question we should be asking are Is this woman a real university graduate? In what language did she studied Does uniport offer courses in other languages too How did she defend her thesis, presentensation, This is an indictment on our education and even more on uniport, but we r too shameless to realise. |
@ manchy which do u mock by those pictures; those that r less priviledge than u or the most Gracious that that gave u ur own priviledge and denying them. u r indeed a sadist. |
as much as i respect your concern, i still dont buy that logic. even in the up north u talk about, lots of crime go on unchecked due to the lazy azz law enforcement authorities and to some extent electorate. these days in other to shelve further investigation every crime is just generalized as BH, case closed! yes there are BH crimes and there are the usual political assasinations, bank robbery etc and other crimes that have here with us since b4 BH. but if we continue to support this lazy azz popos by acepting hook line and sinker without investigation or infact evidence that every crime can be conviniently called BH, then we r in for a long one. going by the logic, BH normaly clames responsibility they dont need romour mongerers for that, and if they need money couldnt they have conviniently make 'withdrawals' up north, or is the bank the most populated place for mass maiming, or is thier plan to drive with all that cash back up north, or deposit it in the nearest bank of the north? common lets not encourage lazy policing by our security outfits, lets demand progress of investigations, and evidence for claims, |
JAKUMO, haba i thought you were smatter than this now, so every tom dick and harry criminal is now BH? I now see why the SSS came up with their wild goose chase, because they knew they will have pple to believe such crap. and since when were certain acts more criminal than others? just because robbers used to rob bank without killing anyone (which is far fetched) it means they are SW approved robbers while the latest is NE approved or BH? what a way of deductive reasoning when news papers published some times back some travellers who were trampled upon with luxirious bus by armed robbers because they had no money on them, so they were also BH robbers. they say if you know your problem you are half way already to solving it. But it seems some pple dont have the slightest idea what our problems are? |
I still find this quite spurious. Even criminals first plea not guilty until offered some sourght of bargain, What was the bargain in this case Did this alleged BH guy decided to start singing just over night There is definitely more to this story than meets d eye, we shouldn't make d mistake of wiping d surface while letting the main issue fester underneath. |
I don't know the guy and I don't want to know him, but what happened to *innocent until proven guilty* these r the kind of sentiments that never let us get to the bottom of things. Just my thoughts |
A lady forgot her purse under a tree where she was resting, she returned to look for her purse but instead found a guy sitting there, the following discussion ensued LADY: Gooday, please did u find anything here? GUY: like what? LADY: a purse GUY: a purple purse? LADY: yes GUY: the one with black stipes and lying beside the stone over there? LADY: yes yes GUY: it had #10,000 in it? LADY: *now very expectant* yes thats definitely the one GUY: nah! i didnt see anything like that WAHAT WILL U DO IF U WERE THE LADY? |
u read stories like the above and u wonder are we.on the same earth with these sane people, it has to take un or amnesty to tell us that our backyard is being polluted by shell. and even our president is from that region. too bad am also a nigerian www.aljazeera.com/video/americas/2011/11/2011111975012305696.html |
