If it took this much pressure from the masses both home and abroad to get this small and insignificant last minute concession from govt, which by the way has a track record of broken promises. Then I wish nigerians good luck if they are prepared to give in again just for these baseless and undocumented statements from govt |
Word, guy word. I take a bow |
What baffles me is the enthusiasm the govt is showing in inflicting hardship on the masses through subsidy removal. Yet the same govt was dragging it's feet in implementing the 18K min wage which IT PROMISED. If I may ask how far with the implementation of the min wage. Coz I know my state has not started? |
The annoying thing is that it's a 25% of BASIC. it's all those unnecessary allowance that makes up the bulk of their pay, what happens to that one NOFFIN. btw is anyone watching the clowns parading themselves as transport association leaders? WHY DON'T JUST ANNOUNCE ON LIVE TV THAT TRANSPORT FARE WILL FALL TOMMOROW, OR THE NEXT WEEK OR SO. IF THEY CAN'T, THEN THEY SHOULD mess OFF |
Can u imagine this guy telling us transport will go down. Tell that to my interstate bus fleer owner neighbour, and see if he don't slap you. If fuel don't go down transport fares won't, simple. It's not economics it's a matter of covering cost. |
Surely our govt has misplaced priorities. I even thought he was going to be squarely addressing BH rampage. NA subsidy still they worry am ![]() |
Is it me? Or is there nothing new in this speech? |
let me clarify some thing, there is no such thing as international pump price as they want us to believe. different factors affect ur pump price eg cost of importing the crude (in nigeria we have crude) cost of refining ( fix our refineries) cost of shiping in refined products cost of curruption (perculialy nigerian) effecient distribution network to avoid arbitrage some of the above r in one country but not in the other hence they affect prices differntly. the points and question we should be asking is as follows. 1. int'l crude prices should and does not affect nigeria coz we own the crude. it affects US coz they import crude 2. if the local refining cut costs of finished product as compared to refining abroad, where is the 30% we refine at home and how much is it sold ? 3 if the welfare of nigerians is the priority of our leaders why are we not maintaining our refineries and building more instead of waiting for foreigners to biuld our refineries. 80% of opec countries refine their own crude, niger republic inclusive. 4 in the age of global austerity and government cuts why is the cost of maintaining nigerian govt on the rise? just yesterday newzealand or so announced a 40% cut on all govt officials allowance (google it to find out) and nigerian rats want us to trust them with the cake? |
most pple commenting here r funny, the analysis is to show the folly of the fuel pricing in nigeria. thus the poster showed pump price side by side with min wage. population has no effect in dittermining min wage. if the poster had used per capita income versus pump price then population will play a role in accounting for discrepencies. even at that compare the pop of US -300m Japan - 160 m and their pump price, u will see again that nigeria is getting it wrong. the other day ngozi was comparing barels per head as justification for increasing price as if they share the crude oil to each person in nigeria. the poster got it right the most unbiased metrics for camparison is min wage, coz population doesnt affect it, all other metrics r half truth. PS u guys can get detailed analysis on min wage by country on wiki pedia search min wage |
The venue is polo field in minna. For those in minna at 7am |
I keep telling the ethnic bigots as people we love each other, only that some unscrupulous groups - including our leaders, keep on manipulating the ignorance, poverty and sentiments of the people, to get reach their aims http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-726393 |
On aljazeera stream, the social media programme, they mentioned the occupy Nigeria movement, and are hoping to dedicate an entire programme to it soon, they asked that pple keep sending in pic and videos on their Facebook page the stream. |
Lagos NA just mouth |
I just hope we have no missed the opportunity of our generation in the 2011 election. coz the way pdp govt is going I hope nigeria will still be in one peace and not pieces by 2015 |
@arose the past is the past, but the major question is are we nigerians still going to vote for PDP again even if they have an imam or a priest as their flag bearer? Imagine govt suggesting 1600 busses as palliatives for hardship on nigerians? What is the palliative for the generator powered businesses accros the country? What is the palliative for transporting foodstuffs accross the country using petrol engines? What is the palliative on my salary which feeding and transportation now gulp 80% as against 45% b4 the subsidy? If anything this shows this administration lacks debth, analytical thinking and strategy, or they are outright insincere. I repeat implement buhari proposal and we will support deregulation BIGER BOY: |
this is what segun had to say on his column on thisday newspaper. if govt wants our trust, lets start here: That is why the president has to act quickly to restore public confidence. Major General Muhammadu Buhari pointed the way forward last week when in his post-Supreme court ruling statement, he suggested a shared sacrifice that will include political office holders. According to Buhari , "immediate steps should be taken to drastically reduce the cost of governance in the three tiers of government. Salaries and especially allowances should be drastically reduced; security votes should be abolished – not increased as the 2012 Budget has done. Votes for the Armed forces, Police and Security Services should be transparent and accountable; foreign travel and estacodes should be stopped for at least six months other than for the Presidency, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and medical emergencies. Government House expenses in all the states should be drastically reduced, foreign travel suspended for a while. The National Assembly should give a lead in reducing their allowances substantially and stopping their foreign travels." |
What did u guys expect from govt? Of all minister to send to defend fuel subsidy it is the health minister the govt sends, to do what? Give us the anatomy of the policy? |
@least one thing is certain information travels fast, since the info was let loose and her swift response. We are rest assured that they know hear about all the curses heaped on them on social media |
Congrats to Nigerians, the era of docility will be a thing of the past, hopefully we will show Africa how its done PEACEFULLY. |
And it is this same government that wants us to trust it with the savings from the subsidy. ![]() Let those who don't know, know. SUBSIDY IS NOT SUSTAINABLE BUT OVER OUR DEAD BODY SHOULD A WE TRUST THIS GOVT WITH A PACK OF CANDIES, LET ALONE TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF SAVINGS |
This were I genuinely say good luck Nigeria |
Too bad. God see us thru |
I hope it's not true, bit pple are tired ![]() |

@millionbuc, just don't try to regionalise or politicise the failur of the president so far. Are u Implying that bcoz others failed he also has the right to fail, and jus don't bring the US here Obama made promises which he started making efforts to fulfil, the closure of gitmo(he signed d order in st hundred days) the healthcare reforms, bringing back the US troops, and trust me the ones he has not fulfil will definitely haunt him come the next election, compare that to GEJ effort so far, tenure elongation, minimum wage debacle, fuel subsidy etc. The US and GEJ's Nigeria are worlds apart. |
Can we get a panoramic view. Good job |
Pastor frosbel, trust me the president himself is not helping matters. The masses are pressed to the wall by unprecedented level of hardship - global economic slowdown, rising insecurity, unprecedented inflation (interns of purchasing power parity), mind boggling corruption. Just imagine , this is just the beginning of the frustration with the president. I didnt vote for GEJ, but get this straight I have nothing to gain from his failure in leadership, if anything I have everything to loose if he fails. But the guy is not even attempting to succed! |
I just droped some one at the moto park. The cheapest cars to Lagos used to be N3500 now he paid N6000, I made other inquiries trips that cost N250 now cost N500, u can imagine what this will do to the price of foodstuff after they factor in transportation costs into it. My main worry sef is that b4 this I used to spend 30.5% of my salary on foodstuff for my household, now going by the progression of prices I will be spending 60 % or more of my salary on just feeding? I hope am wrong coz if that happens wahala go dey. |
If they voted GEJ and not PDP, they can simply buy the petrol and not the price ![]() |
