CareerRe: Should I Take Phd Positions Or Job Offers? Need Advice by BIGERBOY1: 11:12pm On Nov 12, 2011
Mehn u guys are harsh o. Can't a brother talk figuratively anymore? It's usual to say; trust me, u can.,.,. Well btw the reason I asked him to go for it is unlike here that we don't no the value of research and u see pple wanting to grab a job even b4 masters. Out there research degrees are highly valued that's why they even pay you to do one, and u can be dam sure if they are people willing to pay u to do the research there sure are many more willing to pay u to get that research/skills afterwards,

But it's a choice of how u want ur career trajectory, u seem like some one who is enthusiastic about study, that's a good thing if u want to do a phd, U can take that to the bank. (make no body ask me which bank o ?)

Am still waiting for ur response

Then these ministers come out on media to convince us that it is in our interest that fuel subsidy be removed and some here try to justify it.

My conclusion is that it is their paid agents with multiple IDs that come here singing support for govt policies and a handful of cheese brains.

Now answer this simple questions: since the news is on the official website of the paper and other countries dailies, do u belief it now? Will u then recant ur attempt to White wash the minister?

Well so far I fail to find or even infer any suggestions or solutions the hot-head arguments going on here so far has provided, other than wallowing round an endless whirlwind of accusations and counter accusations of which part of the country is to blame.

And mind you our kleptocratic leaders don't consider geo political zones or religion when finding a stealing mate,
PoliticsRe: Another Series Of Bomb Blast In Damaturu, Dozens Killed by BIGERBOY1: 10:41pm On Nov 05, 2011
When I chat on foreign threads I have noticed that people go an extra mile to be polite, some times even to a fault, no body hides behind an agenda to make comments, and issues are dealt with straight forwardly.

Now when I come on our own NL I start up politely and then out of nowhere, and for no reason some one just hurls insults at u. I just quietly leave the forum.

Instead of discussing the causes and solutions and way forward, u hear some one saying split the country, the other one let every body arm up, or even ehtnic abuses,

My only grief I'd that majority of you are youths and the nations hope is on u. But I guess it's just a fools hope.
PoliticsRe: Another Series Of Bomb Blast In Damaturu, Dozens Killed by BIGERBOY1: 7:22pm On Nov 05, 2011
I raised a point that this is a social crisis some one called me daft,

Well I am a Muslim I don't support this barbaric acts no one I know supports it and I once stayed in damaturu/maiduguri axis an most people there are peace loving. So it baffles me when these attacks are carried out and leaves both Christians and Muslims dead, and everyone is grieving some ignorant souls out there try to turn the debate to some political religious debacle.

For your info when I was in damaturu these miscreants killed Islamic scholars who preached against them, randomly shoot in mosques, but you don't hear that on NL. The other day a family member of BH founder who hosted OBJ was killed and you still think only christains are killed?

Well as long as we still dwell with the above mentioned myopic mindset, we will never see the source of this crisis and a solution will ever be elusive.

Bottom line as long as we fail to see a correlation between systemic curruption, lack of social development (especially youths) and the ensuing social crisis, then we will keep retrogressing,
PoliticsRe: Another Series Of Bomb Blast In Damaturu, Dozens Killed by BIGERBOY1: 4:46pm On Nov 05, 2011
It's quite annoying when u see people use these kinds of unfortunate occurrence to score cheap political or religious points.

Some one is already using this as an anti north campaign slogan for 2015

The other is implying Muslims support this.

As far as am concerned, the perpetrators and the above mentioned two, are all extremists, they just happen to be on different sides.

Needless to say this so called perpetrators have never seen the inside of a mosque (I.e. Practicing Muslims) and are more of social miscreants and a dent on our collective conscience. What else do you expect from years of corruption, neglect and systematic syphoning of funds meant for social development of the youths? These are the evils of both the political class and the electorate coming to haunt them.

And think you not that u r from the south and hence safe, for that was the same thinking of the kleptocrats of the north before this dawned upon them,

Isn't it these same fitches and Moody's that rated the sub prime securities with triple A's right until the night of the collapse of Lehman brothers that triggered the financial crisis.

By the way I won't be surprised if these fiticious ratings are not to ensnare us to invest in th debt ridden eurozone newly constituted ESTF whatever (bailout fund). And mind you they are already talking of leveraging the fund by more than 3:1. so don't be surprised if u here that our subsidy savings will be invested in ECB/IMF eurozone bailout fund,

PoliticsRe: Country By Country Analysis: Fuel Subsidy, Minimum Wage, Pump Price by BIGERBOY1(op): 4:40pm On Oct 19, 2011
The point of the data is to tell u that there is no point removing our subsidy, in fact we should either be subsidised more or our minimum wage increased.

If u look at the country with the most expensive pump price, what a person earns there a month is more than what a similar person in Nigeria earns a year! Currently Nigeria is the highest oil producer in Africa, thus if we can't buy what we produce at a give away price where is our sence of patriotism as a nation. We shouldn't all in the name of economics bare ourselves of conscience and humanity.

And on the issue of population the US has more population than Nigeria yet they pay higher minimum wage.
PoliticsCountry By Country Analysis: Fuel Subsidy, Minimum Wage, Pump Price by BIGERBOY1(op): 2:13pm On Oct 19, 2011
Please use these raw data to analyse whether or not the subsidy removal is justified. Also note that some of these countries debt to GDP ratio can be as high as 3x their GDP or even more. Meaning they rank themselves  triple A and rank us what ever they want to borrow our money cheaply while we borrow theirs at exorbitant rates all in the name of risk.

COUNTRY.         PUMP PRICE.(naira)           MINIMUM WAGE (naira)

NIG.                                70.                              18000
Egypt.                             78
Saudi                              25.                                140,694
UK                                  298.                             367,049
US.                                 120.                              277,092
Switzerland.                    322.                              715,385

Note. The minimum wages are averages they could even be higher in some instances,  and are all  at federal level employment. U will be more surprised if u see the GDP per capita of these countries.

On what socio economic justification does our government wants to take away the subsidy?

PoliticsRe: Youths Of Nigeria Let's Agree On A Candidate Come 2015 (no To Division) by BIGERBOY1: 1:00pm On Oct 06, 2011
No one ever said Nigeria is one like a sausage, nigerias unity is in her diversity, we have always been together by understanding our differences not by forgetting them as some will prefer, or by exploiting them as most on NL do.

And infact it is from this perspective or lack of it that the proponents of anarchy, prophets of doom and soldiers of division look at it. But they fail to understand that this land has seen the dark eras of slavery, withness the colonial plunder, nomerous riots and a civil war, and yet it has emerged.

I always pass through jos and marvel at the beauty and grandeurs of her planes and plateu, yet some ill- fitting people live upon her fighting over trivial issues such as who among them settled there first, as if any of them will settle there forever,

Well, just as the Ill-fitted inhabitants of jos shall pass and give way to a more open minded generations of the future, so shall the causers of anarchy, the proponents of it and those who ride on it's tide to pursue their narrow sectional interest will also pass.
The secrete to it all is TIME.

yes nigerian elite lack sophistication, but I tell u the youths are only being naive while others hve never expirienced good governance before much less make sacrifice for it, hence once.there is real debate among youths about virtues of candidates, those with independent mind can have an alternative to perspective to d ever vernomous daily ethnic rants on NL,

in my view GEJ is not a bad person but a weak person, and to me thats worst,
I ve seen a few sugestions from the north and sowth west, I wonder who do we have from the south east,

PoliticsRe: 'Akhwat Akwop' Asks Boko Haram Sponsors to Leave The Country by BIGERBOY1: 2:34pm On Sep 29, 2011
'none of this concerns me' a classic Nigerian approach to issues. Let me try to simplify it

When we had failed states surrounding us up north( chad, Niger etc) non of it concerns Nigeria, now we have some miscreants from ther causing trouble in 9ja.

When mend were blowing up places in the 9ja delta, pple from other parts of the country said non of it concerns me, until other criminals from other part noticed that crime pays in 9ja and they also took up arms,

Now when awka, BH and others cause mayhem let ya' all keep thinking it don't concerns u.

For me nobody has blown any thing up here where I stay, but as we say here 'be mindful of a crisis that when it starts consumes not only the wrongdoers',
PoliticsRe: 'Akhwat Akwop' Asks Boko Haram Sponsors to Leave The Country by BIGERBOY1: 2:06pm On Sep 29, 2011
@Beaf I don't know if you are deliberately stoking up violence or wallowing in self delusion, how does two wrongs make a right? How does taking law into your hands constitute right cause of action, and why should we celebrate the creation of a new terrorist group?

There is a saying where I come from 'Crisis is a sleeping beast, and may heavens curse whoever awakens it'
PoliticsRe: 'Akhwat Akwop' Asks Boko Haram Sponsors to Leave The Country by BIGERBOY1: 1:48pm On Sep 29, 2011
This is exactly what happens if u have a weak government which cares not of happenings around it, then thugs and criminals become spokes person for the government,

First mend to defend the presidency
Now akwa whatever to ensure presidency goes east.

Just out of curiosiy if they r northern minorities why r they fighting for others to get power come 2015?

But trust nigerians no one thinks, or even ask questions, they just take every thing hook line and sinker,

Just yesterday in the federal university of my state one of the major student busses still has PTF engraved at the back of it

and am sure many of you have seen something about PTF around u sometime somewhere.

just immagine since when PTF was scraped and yet the dividends are still out there for every one to see. Now thats Buhari's track record. Now you show me Jonathan's concrete record.
