kingsilly: So when asked where will you be staying in the application, what does one fill in ?? Your university address should always be your default address in situations where you are uncertain about the status of your accommodation. Like someone mentioned earlier, a confirmed accommodation is not a requirement for a student visa. If your ECO requires more information about your accommodation, you'd be asked during a phone interview and you can explain your booking.com reservation. However, at the border entry, you MUST be ready to provide a proof of accommodation if asked. |

This argument about currency conversion is unnecessary and totally embarrassing. The fact that this argument is between intending Master's degree students makes it all the more shocking. What a shame!! What a big shame!! This is primary 5/6 Maths. If you guys can't bury your heads in shame and stop populating this thread with such nonsense, well, some of us are embarrassed on your behalf. You intend to study in the UK and you cannot convert your fees from GBP to NGN or otherwise. My advice, no need converting your naira, take it and register for First School Leaving Certificate. Or better still, get a Primary 6 pupil to teach you that. Make sure you pay for the lessons. When you can do your conversions yourself, come back here and tell us your answer, then we can discuss studying a Master's program. |

Samopex05: Quick one guys. My sister is a British citizen, when filling my uk application form do I also need to fill her husband as a relative. Or only my sister is ok.
Also in my wife’s form, she would be filling my sister as a relative (sister-in-law), does she also need to fill her husband? Family members are limited to parents, spouse, children and siblings (brothers and sisters). |

ekaita: Please can i travel for postgraduate studies to the UK with the kids but without my spouse as he intends staying back to assist with financial support. Please confirm if this is possible with a letter of consent or affidavit of consent. My advice, the family should apply and get your visas then travel and get your BRPs. Then your husband can come back to Nigeria and continue with his life. Trust me, you don't want to go the route of "providing compelling reason". You are at the mercy of the ECO, which means his/her interpretation of your "compelling reason" will determine the outcome of your application. |

yusufDeveloper: Thank you
So, is it possible to convert the $$ to GBP and put it in my £ dorm account and when I get to UK, I can transfer it to any bank I open? Because I don't want to go with plenty cash at hand. £10,000 is the physical cash limit that u don't need to declare. So it's not illegal to carry more, you just have to declare. I have traveled with more than that and i didn't declare. |

yusufDeveloper: Please, is it possible to withdraw cash from the atm over there using your Gtbank dollar Master card without any restriction?
PS: I already have the dollar master card and I don't want to collect pounds master card because of the maintenance fee I'll be paying for the two. Possible? Definitely. Wise? No. First of all, the USD/GBP exchange rate that will be used will be against you. Your USD will lose heavy against the GBP. Secondly, GTB would still charge you $3 (I think) for every ATM withdrawal. 2 options, go ahead with the above OR sell your USD while in Nigeria and then buy GBP. When you arrive here, you open a bank account and deposit. Either way, you will definitely lose money exchanging USD for GBP. But you can choose your poison. |

Ykaa: Hello everyone,
Please, are there BDCs that exchange naira for pounds at the CBN approved rates? If yes please, are there any at the Lagos International airport.
I already tried getting PTA but I was denied because of my one-way ticket.
Best regards Yes, there are BDCs at the Intl Airport that sell $$ at near CBN rate. They only take naira cash, no POS, no transfer. They rarely have $$ to sell. In other words, you'd be lucky if they had the $$ to sell, they always sell out. They sell only $$ at near CBN rate. They sell ££ and €€ at black market rate, because according to them, CBN only sells $$ to them. They source their ££ and €€ from the black market. My advice, you are better off buying your ££ b4 you get to the airport. |

I hope my response is not late. Do you have an atm card linked to the dorm acct? If yes, you can pay online via the school's payment portal. Daily limit is $10,000 which is about GBP7,700. That's how I paid my fees. anthonanik: Good evening gurus in the house.
I'm unable to make tuition deposit using my domiciliary account(us dollar) to teesside university account(pounds)
I'm using Access Bank domiciliary account and I asked them before funding the account and I was told that I can use it.
Now they r telling to convert my money to Naira and use form A for the transaction.
I tried using my access more app but once I get to making payment,it will include offshore charge and other charges like VAT which I agreed to pay but later it will say, you are not allowed to transfer. Meanwhile access transfer limit is 5k per day.
Please guys anyway around it |

MarySax: Hello..... I do have a few questions: I have applied to the university of Stirling for an MSc. Can my brother in law be regarded as my sponsor? Also can anyone give an estimate of the financial costs of getting the student visa? No dear, no one asides yourself, your spouse or your parent can be regarded as your sponsor. Your inlaw should transfer the funds to your account if he truly desires to be your sponsor. Thank me later. |

TemmyDavies: Hello is there a possibility to have a mother and Brother's bank statement, I and my mom basically intend to submit our bank statements to support my younger sister, i think it shouldnt be a problem so we all share the same last name right, and we both are basically shareholders under my mom's business enterprise, any opinion on that? The first law of visa application is this: Keep it as straightforward and simple as a straight line. No agent will tell you that. Having the funds in your both you and your mum's account is contravening the above law already. If your sister is still a minor, move your money to your mother's account. Let all the funds be in your mother's account only. Thank me later. |

Swiftlee: Hello,
Is it right to get a shared student accommodation before getting to the UK or book a hotel for the 14 days quarantine/isolation?
Please, share your experience.
Thank you. Either is fine. A hotel or student accommodation is a better declaration than none, especially with regards to the 14 days isolation. UK wants to know where you will be the first 14 days of your arrival. It's that important that u can be denied entry if you fail to provide this detail. |

dulahi770: What if you have someone’s address you want to use Do u know the legal status of the person you want to use his/her address? Is the person a friend or relative? Did u state that already in your application that u have a relative? Try and make your application a straightforward one as much as possible. Unless absolutely necessary, limit your application details to yourself and your school. No need to invite more scrutiny than necessary. Like i stated earlier, your school is your best contact in the UK until you secure your personal accommodation. |

natstryker: Anyone travelled from Lagos airport in the last 2 days? How did you manage to get in? These #endsars guys are not playing. Thinking of going to MMIA a day before sef and sleeping there The protest is getting stronger and i suspect the airports themselves might be their next target. Abuja airport road was completely blocked yesterday. Lagos airport access tollgate was also blocked. I just managed to make it through Oshodi-Airport road yesterday evening to catch my BA flight to London. My suggestion; leave very early. If you stay on the island, make sure you cross either Ikoyi toll or Lekki toll before 6am like I did. |
