Everyone seem to agree that Cafe business is becoming extinct.
Have you asked yourselves why there are still internet cafe even in US today. Why are roadside phone call operators still working even though calls are cheap these days.
For any business, there are still things you cant just see by just reasoning it.
For cafe business, you have to consider your location first before any other thing. Citing a cybercafe in a street of VI cannot be the same thing as citing it in the vicinity of a university.
For people that knows what it takes to run the business, cyber cafe business is still booming. Thats what I do and even with other sources of livelihood, it remains the most profitable and dependable.
I pay about $1,400 US for monthly subscription and I make more than double that amount after all expenses (like fueling, paying salaries and all rents).
@Poster making N3000 profit a day is tragic and I suggest you do something about it or look for something else to do. Whatever you do, do NOT let anyone else manage it for you. If you cant manage it, close down. |

Labeling everything bigotry don't bother me, you're free to keep repeating it though. May be the questioner was looking for abuse. He has repeatedly asked that question and he has got the answer before. How is he (Afam) sure that he will not come back tomorrow after 3 pages on this thread to ask it again. |

ndu_chucks: Ojukwu is a well respected man, I myself admire and respect the man for various reasons. He, like me, speaks all three major languages in Nigeria fluently. The man is truly one of a kind!
Nothing you say, can change the fact that had Ojukwu and his commanders surrendered soon after biafra was blockaded, millions of women and children would not have died from starvation. This fact is not in dispute. I do understand why you are refusing to state that Ojukwu and his commanders have culpability in this matter - your fellow Igbo people will isolate you and skin you alive if you dare challenge Ojukwu in a public forum or make any unpleasant remark about him.
It is this fear that is preventing you from being truthful in this case - I understand. You superior Eziachi, who fought in the war should be brave enough to state that Ojukwu made a mistake by not surrendering promptly causing these innocent children to die. He is no coward like you - or so I hope.
As the Americans say in the hood, Immo pin y'all down on this one. Now you are wrong there. Many igbo people have disagreed openly with the way Ojukwu handled the war but that does not necessarily include why he did not surrender when Biafra was 'blockaded'. Alexander Madiebo even put his own cricticisms in his book. Dont go on and on blaming ojukwu for continued fighting as if he is the one firing the bombs and mortars. It was your brothers who are commanding the nigerian troops. There is no rule of engagement that says that if a region you are fighting is not surrendering, you must massively and indiscriminately shell the area which you are aware have innocent civilians there. They should have approached tactically like soldiers do and not indiscriminately firing mortars and rockets from hundreds of kilometers. That is what killed many igbo people during the war. Apart from the Murtala muhammad's genocide in Asaba and elsewhere, those are the war Crimes committed on the biafrans. You should blame the people committed genocide on the biafrans and not the biafran leaders. |
Politics › Re: Civil war not against Ndigbo — Gowon by biggjoe(m): 4:49pm On Feb 15, 2010 |
before nigeria can move forward as a nation, we have to address this issue of civil war first.
How can some people here wonder why igbos havent moved on, complaining and playing victim when no one has attempted to address the issues they complain about. Rwandan Hutsis and Tutsis have been able to move on today because they addressed their conflict era and people apologizd to each other. There was no national policy that tried to cover up what happened during that period. Today, their killing fields are now museums where all can go and learn.
Again, people who are justifying killing of igbos because the january 66 coup is an igbo coup should understand that such kind of rationalization is what is causing all the tribal and secteran violence in the country today which people complain about. If an hausa man is killed in Jos, thousands of other tribes will be killed in retaliation elsewhere in the north and nobody will be punished. Such things will continue until the civil war issues are addressed. |

Fhemmmy: I will be here when you all will start whinning that he has done this and that. The man surely wont recoup the money from the treasury of another state, will be from Anambra, money meant to make the life of people like u better, will be spent in making sure he get back all he invested and yet you dont see anything wrong. I have no problem with dude, but the welfare of the state is all that i give a damn about, and sure with how he will take back his money and those of the people that invested on him, i wonder what will be left to manage the state. Leave us to worry about Soludo looting our treasury. And for the records, nobody is going to whine. Just face your own state. |

texazzpete: I have issues with Soludo as a person, but that's not only why i'm against him. In Nigeria, the PDP is an evil, all-powerful entity. The above line disqualifies you from making further comments about his ambition texazzpete: if you think Ngige did a whole lot of good, why aren't you supporting him? He did a whole lot good but I believe Soludo will do better. If there is no Soludo, he is the one I will be supporting. The next best thing. . .you know. . texazzpete: And i suppose Anambra prospered greatly under Mbadinuju? or was he an ANPP Governor? Mbadinuju was PDP and did not perform and Ngige was PDP but performed cant you simply deduce from that that it is not party but individuals. If you think its is not about party, then I will assume that you now believe that Atiku is now a saint because he defected to AC. abi? |

texazzpete: These people amuse me! after suffering for so long under PDP in anambra state, they are willing to stick their necks under the guillotine for PDP again. People cannot see that Soludo is merely a well gilded mousetrap.
Someone who failed at his task of being a watchdog over the banking industry is the one being entrusted to run a troubled state. All he had to do was flash a Harvard degree and make grand speeches about 'turning Anambra into Dubai'.
The Americans threw out the Republicans even though John McCain was a pretty good guy, simply because of the excesses of the Republican Party in the previous years. In anambra i see people going apeshit about a flawed candidate, flanked by a notorious crook (Anenih), running under the platform of the same party that has brought great ruin to Anambra state!
Incredible. Your dislike of Soludo stays there with you at Texas. Here in Anambra, he is liked and you cant change it. Again, let me remind you that Anambra did not suffer under PDP. Infact, PDP is the best thing that has happened to anambra in the name of Chris Ngige. Remember he was PDP governor. Party is never the problem in Nigeria. It is about individuals not party. mekusxxx: At this point Soludo, whom I had supported, should go and rest and not constitute himself into another Andy Ubah, moving from one court house to another. Obi should be voted in again to complete his good job. I rest my case. Emeka, I have to disagree with you there. The Peter Obi you want has been to court more than any other governor in Nigeria. And again, Obi is working below average here in Anambra. I am in position to tell because I . . . . . |

Anybody dat knws anambra wel wl attest dat peter obi stands d greatest chance of winning d nxt election if conducted free and fair. Ngige is completely out of it cos anambrarians has known dat he didnt do much 4 d state only roads and many of them has deteroriated nw. I wl say dat soludo wl b d closest to peter obi bt obi wl swept hm completely. I dont know whether to view your post as an attack or a view but I will take it its just your point of view. Everything you said abt me and anambra is just vague and I will not go into that because im too much of an anambra person and to bother. Now about Obi, I will love Obi the more if I have been reading newspapers and listening to news because he patronizes the media more than any governor in nigeria and thats why people like you love him. Ngige is the best governor that anambra has ever produced and neither you nor your rantings can change it. Theres a poll currently going on on this nairaland abt obi, soludo and ngige, go there and take a look. Again, if Ngiges road constructed by RCC has deteriorated in 3 years, imagine what will happen to Obis's constructed with hoax companies like Paul B and others. . . . Think Mr. Man. |

Anambra: Our Signatures were Forged, Aspirants Say From Chuks Okocha in Abuja, 10.14.2009
Add To Favorites Print This Article Post Comment Another twist was yesterday added to the nomination of Prof. Chukuma Soludo as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Anambra State in the 2010 election as six out of the 23 aspirants and delegates who protested against his nomination in Abuja last Monday dissociated themselves from the protest. They claimed that their signatures were forged and called on the Inspector General of Police (IG) to investigate the matter. Twenty-three out of the 47 governorship aspirants and several delegates to the aborted state congress had Monday protested on the streets of Abuja and later besieged the National Secretariat of the party, singing and chanting war songs. They claimed that as far as they were concerned, the choice of Soludo as governorship candidate and Senator Emmanuel Anosike as running mate was still a rumour as they were not aware of how they emerged. They insisted that they were awaiting the vacation of the court order stopping the state primaries to enable the party elect its governorship candidate. Addressing a press conference in Abuja, the six aspirants – Mr. Ben Okeke, Prince Emeka Eze, Chief Tony Ezeani, Dr. Solomon Ekwunze, Dr. Amanchukwu Ezike and Chief Samuel Ikefuna - said they did not sign the said documents denouncing Soludo’s candidacy. According to a statement read on their behalf by Okeke, they said: “Though some of us attended a meeting on issues affecting Anambra State, we wish to clearly state that we did not sign the purported document denouncing the Soludo/Anosike candidacy. “Our signatures were forged by those who claim to be representing us without our mandate. We therefore call on the Inspector General of Police to investigate the masterminds that forged our signatures.” They also restated their support for the Soludo/Anosike candidacy, describing it as a “moment of glory and a departure from an inglorious past”. They called on the national headquarters of PDP to disregard the earlier statement denouncing the Soludo/Anosike candidacy. Meanwhile, the Action Congress (AC) has insisted that the emergence of Soludo as the governorship candidate of the PDP in Anambra State is undemocratic, saying its position has been bolstered by the rejection of his candidacy by other aspirants. In a statement issued in Abuja yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said while the PDP spokesman, Prof. Rufai Alkali, was hiding behind one finger by saying Soludo was properly chosen, PDP members from the state had dismissed the action by storming the party headquarters in Abuja to protest against the nomination. “We will therefore like to ask Prof. Alkali to reconcile his position with that of the protesters, who said due process was not followed in the nomination of the PDP flag bearer. Or is Prof. Alkali saying the protesters are members of the AC? “There is no better repudiation of Prof. Alkali’s claims than the action of the protesting PDP members from Anambra. We are vindicated!” AC said. It said unlike the PDP spokesman, who chose to descend to a lower pedestal by engaging in crude personality attacks, the AC was more interested in dwelling on issues that could deepen democracy in the country, hence its decision to speak out on the shoddy, undemocratic and dictatorial manner in which Soludo was chosen by PDP. According to the AC, “It is disingenuous on the part of Prof. Alkali to equate the process that produced Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola as the Action Congress governorship candidate for Lagos State in the 2007 election with the crass and undemocratic imposition of Prof. Soludo as the PDP gubernatorial candidate for Anambra State in the 2010 governorship election. “For the avoidance of doubt, Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola emerged as the AC flag bearer in the 2007 gubernatorial election at the end of a properly conducted ward, local government and state congress of the party.” It said the danger in not challenging the PDP’s usual consensus smokescreen, which had been the bane of peace and tranquillity in Africa’s most unruly party, “is that it (PDP) will continue to endanger the nation’s democracy by opting for ‘consensus’ - a euphemism for imposition - even in national elections”. “It is this consensus that has produced square pegs in round holes at all levels of government, resulting in total lack of governance to the detriment of the long-suffering citizens who daily yearn for good and purposeful governance,” it said. The party also challenged Alkali to tell Nigerians when exactly Soludo picked the membership of the PDP, and whether he had stayed long enough in the party to contest the gubernatorial nomination and be “selected”.
