WebmastersRe: Php/mysql Applications by biggjoe(m): 8:30pm On Jun 18, 2009
why is it hard to help people here without insults and name calling.

Is that how you people learned?

Most of you got what you have from forums and on these forums, people only aim to help others and not try to prove they are better.

Its pathetic.
Art, Graphics & VideoRe: How Do I Convert U.s Vhs Tapes To Dvd In Nigeria? by biggjoe(m): 4:03pm On Jun 17, 2009
pek:
it is not as easy as guys here are making you believe. the issue here is that it is n ntsc and not pal. first you have to convert to pal b4 transfering it to dvd. but for further help, you can call me, 08098678989
Please dont say what you dont know. Almost all VHS player in Nigeria here is Multi system meaning it plays both pal & ntsc. So if you have to convert, like the first poster said, you need a VHS player, a TV card in your computer and a TV capture software (there are tons of them on the internet just Google Video capture software).
What happens is that when the VHS player plays your video, the computer via the TV card captures the video with the capture softaware and at the end of the tape, you can now convert the captured video to any format of your choice.

However, if you are not very comfortable with computer or you want to use some effects on the final video, you might need help.
PoliticsRe: Anambra 2010 Governorship Election; Pdp Goes For Soludo by biggjoe(m): 8:28am On Jun 17, 2009
It is only people who live outside Anambra or those that watch a lot of TV and read a lot of newspapers that say that Peter Obi Has performed.

I know many people will crucify me for this but I must say it.

You need to come to anambra and also compare his actions with that of Ngige before you say that Obi has performed.

Obi is just a failure, who only capitalises on sentimental propaganda, executing CHEAP projects all over the place  to get peoples trust but he has run out of all those and Anambra people have seen him for who he really is. If there is any SOLID project anywhere in Anambra that Obi has executed, check it out and you will discover that he only completed a project already started before he came into power.  He doesnt initiate solid projects.
What do you say about governor who earns his popularity by buying computers to schools that has no electricity and drilling boreholes and latrines grin. Latrines!! Tell me,  how much does buying computers or drilling borehole  cost for him to be making noise about it all.
All the contracts he awarded are CHEAP ones executed by cheap contractors! If dont agree tell me why he sent RCC parking only to be using companies like nigercat and pachuks for road constructions.

Every of his failure used to be linked to Andy Uba but since Andy went underground everybody found him out.

Ngige is the man, and his current campaign slogan is 'tested and trusted' and I agree with them. Obi has been tested too but not trusted.

Finally,  I would be glad to have Soludo as my governor too even if it has Andy Uba's hand. Ngige had Uba's hand but he ended up being Ubas' greatest enemy and the best governor ever in Anambra.

PoliticsRe: David Ejoor's View About The Civil War by biggjoe(m): 2:51pm On Jun 14, 2009
maxsiollun:
Was Ojukwu correct in seceding in 1967? Could/should he have delayed secession or negotiated a peaceful settlement? A few facts to ponder:

1) Ojukwu knew as a military man that the Eastern Region had absolutely no chance of victory in a conflict with the federal government. Yet he declared the secession of the Eastern Region which he governed, in the knowledge that federal troops would invade immediately after the secession.
Are you implying now that secession means declaration of war?

It doesnt have to be. What happens to dialogue? He declared secession not war!

Why must this always be only about Ojukwu. No one ever mentions Gowon and his cohorts in the counter Coup. Why?!!!!
Christianity EtcRe: Could It Really Be That A Person Can Be Born Gay? by biggjoe(m): 2:50pm On Jun 05, 2009
I am not a medical doctor but I think I know a bit about hormones and genes. First and foremost, some men are born naturally with excess female hormones and I think its called the progesterone or egesterone. You will find these men in many societies today displaying woman like behaviours and you will mostly see them in the company of girls. In Nigeria, people even go ahead and call them 'obirin' meaning woman. For me, I think for these kind of people, they are 'born' with it and as such, it belies on them to fight it and do the right thing. It is also their parents' responsibilities not to indulge their woman like tendencies from childhood. Trust me, they can be overcome. Some girls are also born with excess male hormones called the testosterone. They do same thing as described for their male counterparts except in reverse.
The above line is very much unrelated to being gay. having the excess of the opposite sex hormones mainly manifest in physical features not in behaviours.

People are not born gay.

@yawa,

I wish to ask without being offensive either: is the first 5 lines of your initial post from the news source?

If they are not then, I think that by those first five lines, you created the impression that you believe the clone website belongs to GLO.

Yea thats true. But I think that thing happens only with PHP or specifically WAMP.

I never experienced that stuff when I was doing ASP with IIS.
WebmastersRe: Updating A Website Regularly & Easily, How? by biggjoe(m): 8:29pm On May 31, 2009
segsalerty:
@bigjoe
nice joke ,  so very easy ,  can you pls help with the with the codes here , if not , atleast explain in details your Idea/joke?
Something makes me think you are not only looking for the joke/idea, you gave out your email asking him to holla. Maybe you dont believe i know much about what i am saying. But thats just may be.

You believe you are the only one who can do it?

@ Poster,
As for the Joke, it is as simple as designing the page layout the way you want it displayed, create database tables, then on your pages create variables that holds your content and these contents will be pulled from the database.
The database contents can then be modified from forms that submits to a page with update statements to change the database contents whenever you wish to change anything.

I have to explain some detail/joke to the poster and not because segsalerty asked me to because he probably knows what i need to say he only wants to know if I CAN say it.

Thats one thing that makes the nairaland webmasters forum different from other forums I visit.
In most forums I visit, when a newbie comes up with a question, other people who knows better comes up with instant suggestions, posting the codes or asking the poster to post the codes he/she is working with so that it will be easier to help.

But in here, when anyone comes with a question people will start sending their phone numbers and email; to me, thats not the best way to do it.

Most of us here learned the much we can do from online forums so, why cant we help others instead of sending our emails and phone number.

WebmastersRe: Updating A Website Regularly & Easily, How? by biggjoe(m): 8:59pm On May 30, 2009
Display the contents of your page from a database which you u can easily update from forms.

thats the joke.

am yet to try CS4, infact i still use dreamweaver 8 till date.
it has all i need and am too lazy to upgrade.

I didnt think there would be much difference BW CS4 and 8, i got that impression because there wasnt much difference BW DW 7 MX and DW 8.

Maybe Dual Core has given me enough reason to go for CS4.

You might have gotten it all confused probably cos you dont use those lazy things. ;

segsalerty:
how can you and your coleagues help me if i dont rather want to use micromedia tool ? cant i use notepad to develop a website ? and again ,, the table layout design using dreamweaver sucks and piss me off,
anything you guys can say or tell me ?
If you dont actually have anything personal with dreamweaver, I will add here that the sweet thing here about dreamweaver is that it gives you option of switching between code and design view.

If you like notepad more (which will imply that you are advanced in coding), I will suggest you stick to the code view or stick to your notepad.

Dreamweaver table layout sucks when you cant switch to code view to make your adjustments and dont tell me you cant do that and yet you are talking about notepad.

Hi joe,

Can u please explain how it works
If u can use dreamweaver go to >> server behaviours >> user authentication >> login user

The dialogue box will come up for you to fill in your database, form, redirection pages pages.

DW lgin server behaviours also creates two sessions; $_SESSION['MM_Username'] and $_SESSION['MM_UserGroup'] its left for you to know how to make these two take effect on succesful login.

Dual Core:
design doesnt trip me(even tht sucks ass too), there's more to a site than meets the eyes
I have always been afraid of using this line on several occassions where issues such as the one at hand comes up. Reason is: I believe many people will say I am not a complete designer.

But l agree with Dual Core theres much more in a site that meets the eyes! If Your site is very good looking and not user friendly, somebody like me willl not even notice the good looks. We are not even talking about security yet.

As for the cotek IT site, I dont hold anything against it more than that of Akunyili grin There isnt much difference.

Can any1 explain to me with codes how to implement a login page which will also create the session variables etc. - the simplest method possible

Been reading a php tutorial but the explanation's quite complex and confusing.
Dreamweaver has a secure login script that can create sessions. It only requires a slight adjustment if you encrypted your password.
