I'll ask, which aspect of tech do u have in mind? Considering some requirements, you have a good laptop and desktop, electricity supply is awesome .... I'll advice u to fortify yourself with a petrol generator and power station, just incase nepa does their magic) ... whats left is skill acquisition which is the most import crown jewel of the matter cos the computers won't operate themselves. Decide which aspect of tech u want to get into and maybe i can help u streamline and point to 1 or 2 materials to help jumpstart your move. ManLikeL: Good morning everyone.
I have no idea where to post this but I need massive recommendations and guidance.
Consider this question the yearning of a technical layman so your suggestions pieced into bits could be earnestly appreciated and understood.
I want to go into tech and specifically I want to be a remote worker. Nothing outside of my home interests me and the idea of earning in naira seems a bit un-enough at the moment. What kind of skills should I acquire in the tech world?
Trust me, I can be patient enough to wait it out till it starts yielding so believe me, I'm not expecting a quick money making scheme kind of impactation. I'm ok with slow and steady, but I want it to be dependable enough that when it picks, then it peaks and will be sustainable. At the moment, my estate has 20-hour power supply at the minimum. I have; 1) HP ZBook Fury16 G9-Intel Core I7, 16GB Ram and 1T SSD. 2) HP EliteBook 840 G9 16GB Intel Core i7 SSD 512GB. 3) I have a well upgraded HP mini Prodesk cpu (16/512GB). And a mini power station to keep these running for a few hours if there is ever an outage.
I want to believe these systems should be able to handle any kind of tech duties.
I'm without a job currently and I don't want to even start searching for jobs although I have a few savings to sustain me for a few years since I'm single. I want to make money legally from the shores of my abode.

Eeya ... That's sad ... For u to have come to this conclusion, i think you've really had it to the brim and can't take it anymore. I'll suggest separation first ... Atleast, to cool down your mind/body while u plan your final exit strategy. It used to be around 80 to 120k around that 2016 ... but now, those lawyers no wan hear anything below 450k oooo ... And its also location dependent. You might be lucky to maybe have a friend of a friend who might be willing to help u with the process for something budget friendly. If na island or abuja lawyer u go get, you'll nearly sell your kidney to pay cos dem go use bill wound and injure you. So, consider the separation thingy for now till you're really sure u wanna split off from your partner or maybe you want to settle down with another person. truthhurts2: Good day NL!
I'm not bouyant financially, how possible/easy for me getting a divorce?
I have had it to the brim, I have been holding it for long and now I'm losing it. It's getting to being violent.
I don't want to lose my freedom by committing any crime.

Phones › Re: Things Killing Your Data Without You Knowing by bigl: 11:26pm On May 14 |
This post applies to those who are still subscribing for 10gb, 20gb data plans and not for those using unlimited (no cap) data plans. Uniquesoji: If you live in Nigeria, there’s a high chance you’ve said this before:
“How did my data finish this fast?”
One minute you still have several gigabytes left. The next minute, you’re getting low data warnings and wondering whether your phone is secretly downloading movies overnight.
What makes it even more frustrating is that many people aren’t even using their phones heavily when this happens. No serious downloads. No all-night streaming. Yet the data disappears faster than expected.
The truth is, several things quietly consume data in the background without most people realizing it. Some are normal. Some are avoidable. But once you understand them, you’ll begin to see why data drains so quickly today.
1. Apps Running in the Background This is one of the biggest hidden data killers. Even when you’re not actively using apps like: • Instagram • TikTok • Facebook • Snapchat • Gmail
they still refresh in the background.
Your phone constantly checks for: • Notifications • Messages • App updates • New content
And all of that quietly consumes data. Sometimes your phone is using the internet more than you are.
2. Auto-Playing Videos on Social Media You open Instagram to reply to one message. Next thing, you’ve watched: • Reels • TikTok clips • Facebook videos • Comedy skits • Random interviews
The dangerous part is this: • Most apps now autoplay videos automatically. • You don’t even need to click anything anymore.
According to Google’s Android Data Usage documentation, video content remains one of the highest consumers of mobile data globally.
3. HD Streaming Everywhere Many people don’t realize their streaming apps are set to HD by default. And higher quality means heavier data usage.
For example: • SD video uses less data • HD consumes significantly more • 4K burns through data very quickly
That “small YouTube session” may actually cost more data than expected.
4. Poor Network Quality Can Waste Data Too This part surprises many people. Bad internet can actually increase data consumption.
When your connection is unstable: • Videos buffer repeatedly • Downloads restart • Pages reload multiple times • Apps reconnect constantly All those repeated attempts consume extra data.
This is one reason many users are beginning to pay attention not just to internet speed, but also stability. In areas where fiber internet is available, some users say providers like LuliFiber help reduce this frustration because the connection tends to remain more stable during heavy usage.
5. Automatic Phone Updates Modern smartphones update apps silently in the background.
Sometimes: • WhatsApp updates • Instagram updates • System updates start downloading automatically • And these files can be huge.
Some updates are hundreds of megabytes. Some system updates exceed 1GB.
If auto-update is enabled on mobile data, your subscription may disappear quickly without warning.
6. Cloud Backup Services Many phones automatically backup: • Photos • Videos • Contacts • Files
to services like: • Google Photos • iCloud • OneDrive
So after recording videos or taking many pictures, your phone may quietly upload everything online.
And yes… your data pays for it.
7. Multiple Devices Connected at Once A lot of people blame their network provider when the real issue is simple:
Too many devices are connected.
Think about a typical home today: • Smart TVs • Laptops • Phones • Tablets • CCTV systems • Gaming consoles
All online simultaneously.
Even if you personally are not browsing heavily, another device on the network probably is.
8. Music Streaming Uses More Data Than Expected Apps like: • Spotify • Audiomack • Apple Music • Boomplay
consume more data than many people realize.
Especially when: • Streaming quality is high • Songs auto-download • Offline syncing is enabled
It may not feel heavy at first, but over time it adds up.
9. Wi-Fi Sharing Without Realizing the Impact Some people casually share hotspot access with: • Friends • Neighbors • Family members
Then suddenly someone starts: • Streaming videos • Updating apps • Downloading large files
And before long: “Who finished my data?”
10. Mobile Data Is Struggling to Match Modern Internet Usage This is the bigger conversation happening quietly across Nigeria.
Internet usage has changed completely.
People now use the internet for: • Remote work • Gaming • Streaming • Online classes • Video meetings • Smart home devices
Mobile data can become stressful when it’s expected to handle all of that daily.
That’s why more people are gradually moving toward unlimited broadband and fiber internet options instead of constantly monitoring data balances.
Why More People Are Exploring Fiber Internet One thing people love about reliable fiber internet is freedom.
Instead of: • Turning data on and off • Avoiding videos • Monitoring usage every hour • Calculating every megabyte
you simply use the internet normally.
In Lagos especially, providers like LuliFiber are gradually becoming part of conversations around more stable home and office internet setups, particularly among users tired of constantly buying mobile data bundles.
And honestly, once someone experiences stable unlimited internet, going back to strict data management feels difficult.
Simple Ways to Reduce Data Drain If you still rely heavily on mobile data, these tips can help: • Turn off autoplay on social media • Restrict background app refresh • Disable auto-updates on mobile data • Lower streaming quality • Monitor apps consuming the most data • Use Wi-Fi whenever possible Small adjustments can make a noticeable difference.
The scary thing about data consumption today is that most of it happens silently.
Not because you’re overusing the internet. But because modern apps, devices, and platforms are designed to stay constantly connected.
And as internet usage continues to grow in Nigeria, many people are beginning to realize that the real solution may not simply be buying more data… …but finding a better internet experience entirely.
So honestly:
What do you think kills your data the fastest? |

Its ok for her to bath with the daughter. I bath with my son and its a good way of them getting used to the adult body. My son once asked me (recently o, after all these years), why i have hair on my "wee wee" ... and i answered him, its part of growth; when he gets to certain age, he will also have it. He had asked about mustache and beards and the likes. Its even better they ask you than ask outsiders who will want to show/explain to them and end up abusing them. Just ensure you answer your daughters question of curiosity with wisdom/maturity and ensure they understood. Though, a 4 year old will likely not ask ... Its when they get to 5 6 or 7 some become aware of some stuffs. Fathers > son Mothers > daughter Father can bath daughter but not undressed! Same applies to mothers bathing their son. Xso666: Guys please is it okay for my wife to bath together with my 4 year old daughter because now my daughter is getting used to bathing with her mother so I want to know if this is okay or I should correct it immediately.

Buying 1gb or 2gb or even 150gb these days is the fastest way to go bankrupt! Its always better to migrate to speed based plans that affords u to pay a flat fee and get unlimited internet data which is still the best thing ever. Airtel offers that for 30k monthly and also, 25k for the ODU. Mtn has theirs as well - Mtn fibreX for 25k monthly. I personally use that airtel, and its been since 2023 Nov. And its been heaven cos i can afford to download anything i want or watch youtube or other platforms whenever and however i like and also use for work. If you have plans of going these route and you're like 2 or 3 staying say within same compound or house near each other (side by side), u can team up to split the bill. Those 10gb for 2k or 100gb for 20k will put a big hole in your finances cos i've tried it before, e no just pay me. So, give the speed based plans a trial. Francixx0x: Honestly, data is becoming too expensive 😅 I just saw that MTN 1GB is now around ₦480 and it got me thinking...
How are you guys managing your data these days? Do you: Stick with normal network plans? Use VTU platforms? Or just reduce usage?
I recently tested one cheaper option and it worked fine (instant delivery too), but I’m still observing it. Curious to know what everyone here is using 👀 |

Its ok chief ... I understand how everybody's schedule is these days considering how "awesome" things are. Wow! Since your 20s. Well, i feel it might have been triggered as an after math of maybe your ulcer drugs ... not i said "might" and not certain. I can't say if the tea is better than the chamomile tea o but how our body works differs. I'll put a pix of the pack of the chinese tea as an attachment (lets hope NL mods won't delete it). I'll say, lets start with Horlicks tea ... Prepare with a warm (slightly warm) water + milk ... drink around 8pm. Try that for some days and lets see. If that doesn't work then u may try the chinese tea (got it from justrite from my area 2k or so ... its been a while) And i'll advise u check your BP and blood sugar to be sure all is ok in that department. Hope u don't take these energy drinks sha? If not, pls stop am o and also, stay away from coffee especially the black nescafee except maybe if its decaffeinated sha. Find attached the chinese tea and horlicks. Babysho: Sorry for the late response, really tied up with work and fatigue. Thank you for your response.
I can’t remember exactly what started it but most of my early 20s was battling ulcer and anxiety disorders. Now that I can say I’ve finally beat the ulcer and most of the anxiety, sleeping disorder comes in.
Is the tea better than chamomile tea cause I’m already taking that and it doesn’t work.
Are you advising stand alone drinking water before bed or it has to be with the tea?

Though there are some remedies u can try like this chinese tea i bought some months ago or u can buy horlicks tea; prepare warm with small milk and take around 8pm ... drink enough water; ease yourself and hit the bed ... I can guarantee u, you'll sleep for over 6 hours and wake up feeling relaxed. So, if u wish to, u can discuss how it started ... Awaiting your response Babysho: I've been having sleepless nights for over a year now. Back and forth with doctors and sleeping meds.
I'd sleep around 10 or 11pm and be up 2am or 3am, wide awake like I wasn't just sleeping, unable to sleep back. I noticed recently that my heart rate would be high when I wake.
I'm this close to quitting my job because of insomia.
I've tried hundreds of remedies, chamomile tea, all sorts of sleep inducing fruits, sleeping medications, yoga, warm bath, nothing works.

Gigs dey but issues wey dey pass availability of gigs ... Some churches dey mess up by using boiz ... They will employ u and at the end of the month, refuse to pay, citing one flimsy excuse or the other. Another issue is what churches are looking for, isn't what they use to interview boiz hence, most guys, who are just starting, learn some big time stuffs, spit it out during interview, pass the interview and get employed. But with time, you discover, he isn't experienced at playing some songs .... And yeah, the gate keeping thingy which most boiz do ... they'll rather give their friends than announce the opportunities... jamerflepz: I’ve noticed something lately…
Many skilled instrumentalists are actually available, and many churches/events genuinely need musicians.
But somehow they rarely meet.
Most gigs move through WhatsApp groups, personal networks, or “who you know.” If you’re not inside those circles, you might never hear about the opportunity.
Right now, a church in Ikeja is looking for a disciplined keyboardist (paid role, structured team).
Instead of keeping the opportunity in private circles, I decided to post it openly.
I also built a small platform called GigZone to help musicians and gig providers connect more easily. Still early stage but growing.
If you play (or know someone who does), just search “GigZone Lovable” on Google and you should find it easily. Or drop a comment and I can point you directly.

Please I'm having electricity problem with our new neighbour and I'm confused with what to do right now.
Here's the issue:
So we live in a compound where 3 rooms are connected to one prepaid.
So 3 of us donate to fund our prepaid meter.
A few months ago we were paying 4k and this usually last us for 2+ months. The reason I believe is that all we had to power is ceiling fans and charging of our devices (phones and laptops)
But ever since we got our new neighbor, the light bill has suddenly increased.
This month alone, we've recharged 8k+ individually and by my calculations, it'll cost each of us 12k+ for light to reach us for one month.
This is a significant jump from the 4k that will normally cover us for 2+ months.
I'm really not happy about this and don't know what to do right now.
I can't imagine paying 12k+ a month just to power my ceiling fans and laptop.
I have spoken with her and she told me she's using only fridge with the light, which I don't quite understand, how much our bill has jumped so significantly.
Please any suggestions on what to do will be welcome.

Its nothing to be worried about ... Its most likely impacted wax that's blocking you from hearing properly ... The issue with earbud is it encourages growth of bacteria and wax especially if u don't clean the earbud properly ... I had a similar issue sometimes last year ... The pain is as a result of the impacted wax, resting on your ear drum ... It was cleared out by a specialist. First few hours/days were strange ... I was hearing so clear that even if a spec of sand drops, i'll hear it... Just see an ENT doc and they'll most likely flush or find ways to clean your ear which takes less than 1 hour (the cost might blow you out of mother earth though) but its always worth it. When its done, you'll ear some frequencies (high) that you probably not have been hearing for a long time due to the gradual build up of wax. And lastly, always listen to your music at less than 50% volume and try get this itel budfit 5 whic doesn't sit in the ear canal but hangs outside ... That's what i switch to and so far, no issue. DeclanR: Please Doctors, kindly come to my aid.
WHAT HAPPENED
I don't know if it's called Earpod, Earbud or Airpod, but it's all earpiece. So I bought a Bluetooth one, downloaded Spotify playlist app on my phone's playstore and began listening to jamz 24/7 except when I'm bathing. Even at work, I use it.
I wasn't used to using accessories like this.
So, I noticed a pain inside my right ear, later it became a boyl. I felt the pains, took Bicham ampiclox and after a few days, it disappeared.
Now I can't hear with that ear any longer. I can only partially hear with it.
HOW AM I FEELING ?
In the ear, I feel like there's a blockage which is impeding sound. I feel like there's water in there. You know how it is when you're bathing and water enters into your ear? That's how the feeling is, right now. If I'm talking to someone, I feel there is an earpiece hanging in my ear, so I need to speak louder than normal. This is the Third day. I am worried. |
Business › Re: Paypal Is Back In Nigeria — This Time With Paga by bigl: 12:09am On Feb 02 |
Thanks for this update. Sorted mine out some days ago: both linked successfully! baboyo: After nearly two decades of limited access, PayPal has returned to Nigeria through a strategic partnership with Paga. But beyond the announcement lies a deeper story about persistence, local infrastructure, and the quiet builders who kept Nigeria’s digital economy alive long before global giants were ready to commit.
For years, PayPal in Nigeria felt like a locked door with a familiar logo. Nigerians could send money out, but receiving it, especially for freelancers, creators, and small businesses, remained a frustrating impossibility. It wasn’t for lack of demand. It was due to a lack of trust in infrastructure, regulation, and consistency.
So when news broke that PayPal was returning to Nigeria through Paga, it landed differently. Not as hype. Not as noise. But as a moment of recognition, one that had been a long time coming.
To understand why this return matters, you have to step away from PayPal for a moment and look at Paga, and more importantly, at the man behind it: Tayo Oviosu. Long before fintech became fashionable, Oviosu returned to Nigeria with a quiet conviction that payments should work for everyday people, not just banks and multinationals. He built Paga in 2009, when cash dominated, and digital trust was thin. He stayed through regulatory uncertainty, infrastructure gaps, and economic cycles that buried less patient founders.
That persistence is the real headline. Visit technaija.com for more related articles.
PayPal didn’t just “choose” Nigeria again. It chose a partner that had already done the unglamorous work, building compliance rails, navigating regulation, and earning local trust transaction by transaction. Paga wasn’t built for headlines. It was built for a scale that survives reality.
This partnership marks PayPal’s most meaningful re-entry into Nigeria since its quiet exit nearly twenty years ago. Back then, the ecosystem wasn’t ready. Today, Nigeria’s digital economy is driven by freelancers exporting skills, creators monetising audiences, startups serving global clients, and SMEs operating across borders. What was missing was frictionless access to global payments, not ambition.
Now, Nigerians can receive international PayPal payments directly into their Paga wallets, convert to naira, and move funds seamlessly. It’s not just convenience. It’s validation. A signal that global platforms can no longer ignore African markets, not as future potential, but as a present force.
But there’s another layer to this story. PayPal’s return is not about generosity. It’s about inevitability. Nigeria has become too large, too digital, and too economically active to be sidelined. The rise of fintechs like Paga, Flutterwave, Paystack, and others created an environment that PayPal once deemed too complex. Local players absorbed the risk. They learned the terrain. They built trust. Now, global giants are stepping back in, through them.
This is what maturity looks like in an ecosystem. Not foreign dominance, but collaboration. Not replacement, but reinforcement.
For Nigerian freelancers who once relied on workarounds, for startups that lost deals due to payment friction, and for creators who watched peers elsewhere get paid faster, this moment feels personal. It closes a long-open loop. It also reminds us that progress in tech isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s the reward for staying when others leave.
PayPal’s return through Paga is less about PayPal finding Nigeria again and more about Nigeria becoming impossible to ignore. |
