The attack on Nuhu Ribadu’s credibility reflects ignorance of our security architecture. Dismissing him because he’s an ex-police officer shows a poor grasp of history and national security. The police are not subordinates to the military — they are the mother agency of all security institutions, a broad institution trained in law enforcement with deep experience in intelligence gathering, community trust-building, counterterrorism, and international peacekeeping, and — the qualities most essential in modern national security leadership.
Ex-police officers like Ribadu bring invaluable expertise in bridging internal and external security, a quality many advanced nations value in strategic leadership. Countries such as the UK and Japan rely primarily on strong policing systems to maintain peace and order. Even nations with powerful militaries respect their police institutions they enjoy immense respect, as strategic security partners in internal and international security frameworks. Undermining the police is not patriotism — it’s a disservice to the brave men and women who protect this nation daily. Ribadu deserves respect, not ridicule, for his service and competence.
