I wonder why a lot of you take Ngozi Okobi's utterances hook, line, and sinker. She is mad because she wasn't initially included in the team, hence not well valued. She's also mad that exceptional players are being lavished with praise, and she happens not to be among them.
Besides, apart from Chikwelu, which player in that midfield is she better than? SMH.."he got to apologise to me after seeing my performance on the pitch" ..bla, bla, bla..What performance is she talking about? Apart from that Cameroon game move, she was average.
Now, Okobi should realise that she is one of the SPENT players on the team, and as such should expect leaving as soon as possible. infact If I were the coach, I would show her the back door immediately cos she, alongside other spent players, are blocking the way for hungry, talented up and coming players. Her attitude is not good for the team either. |

I hope you’re not writing Ebere Orji off, She’s one forward that’s always on the international wilderness though very skilful, quick and a Clinical Finisher. I don’t really know what to say cause the Coaches hardly look her way.! She's been invited on occasions, but she never measures up to standard. |

AkinDS: Oparanozie and pace? That's a laugh! You may want to watch the Aisha Buhari cup and assess her performance which, for all intents and purposes, was pitiful. Okobi, for me, had a very poor Nations Cup, considering all her years of the so called 'experience'. She turned the ball over more than any other midfielder on the team (always caught on the ball because of her wanting to always dribble, ultimately slowing down the counter attack) and her lack of vision (unable to pick a pass - e.g. Ajibade's pass to Alozie vs Ivory Coast away; Halimatu's pass to Onumonu vs. Botswana). She also flubbed on 2 occasions (Burundi and Morocco) when she had open nets and made a complete mess of it. She is NOT the kind of midfielder we need in this Falcons set up.
Look, these ladies are done. They add little or no overall value to the team. They either foment problems amongst team members (perhaps because of their feeling of entitlement due to their 'experience') or they lack the energy and pace to contribute to the team. Either way, they add little or no value to the team at this point in time.
The four of them are on the downward slope of their national team careers. We have several up and coming players who are ready to take the baton and run with it. The 2023WWC presents a perfect platform for the next gen to gain experience and build their confidence on the world stage. Why continue with a bunch that will be irrelevant in a year vs. go with younger ones that will be relevant for the next 8 years? This is straight forward and I am shocked at the pushback for something so obvious. This may sound harsh, but it's the absolute truth! |

Fenerbahçe Women's Football Team has recruited Patricia del Carmen George, a left wing player who played in SC Sand, one of the German Frauen-Bundesliga teams last season, as part of the squad structure of the upcoming season. Mustafa Kemal Danabas, Member of the Board of Directors responsible for Women's Football, was also present at the signing held at Ülker Stadium Fenerbahçe Şükrü Saracoğlu Sports Complex. The 25-year-old Nigerian national team player will wear Fenerbahçe's jersey in the 2022/23 season. I don't like this at all, that league is not competitive. |

She is the worst player in the super Falcons team, I can bet she's up to 40 years... She's even older than Onome. I don't know why these coaches still have her on the team, as players of her type are a liability to any team they find themselves. I mean, we almost would not have known about Ucheibe just because of her. Desiree Ellis would have forced her out of her team a long time ago same as any serious coach. Edwin Okon even did exactly that. Rita Chikwelu is one of the biggest problems of the team, and she's blocking the way for hungry, talented up and coming players - I cringe whenever I watch her play. |

I won't lie, both can be axed. Cos which kine beef be dis? E don pass half a decade. Shuu. A serious national team coach would not have Oparanozie on their team. She's way past her prime, and not needed in the Super Falcons. |

If Ordega's tweet is like this, inference will be much o.
But still yet, we suppose know the criteria.
And then yet again, no player that played in this wafcon had a great performance as half as the winner in any way. See the mvp of this wafcon-ghizzlane Chebbak. Put her sides by sides with Zee..... Gap too much.
Although it will be good if Wafcon is a major criteria imo. It was for Mane. Why different for the women's anyway. I think i needs to be. So that performers at club would want to replicate at the Wafcon and this will better the competition.
Overall, congrats is better said. It was the wiser thing to do.
I hope this doesn't affect her call back to the team sha. We need both for the WWC Oparanozie should just keep quiet or congratulate Oshoala. |

AkinDS: On point.
Not sure any team in this tournament (including SA) would have been able to replicate the performance against Morocco, especially playing 2 women down for 60 mins! They really did not deserve to lose that game. Also, considering that they undeservedly lost to Morocco on penalties, as well as their need to strike to be paid (missing several training sessions), it would have been foolhardy of anyone to expect that the zeal and passion will be there for the Zambia game.
As far as I was concerned, the second best team won the tournament and I am happy for them, as they have been knocking on the door for over a decade. It would have been a really stupid joke if those Arabs had won it, considering they pretty much cheated their way into the finals. The best team in this tourney was Nigeria. We can debate this till the cows come home but that is my strong belief.
Moving forward, I like the fact that there are still up and coming players in the pipeline: U20 players (Demehin, Ajibola, Onyenezide, Flourish, Imuran, Taiwo and Oshobukola) and senior players that missed this WAFCON (Patricia George, Rinsola Babajide, Onyinye Zogg, Roosa Ariyo and others) who would shore up the team in the deficient areas. With these players coming on board, we should be able to gracefully retire the likes of Chikwelu, perhaps Ebi, and most definitely Okobi, who was extremely poor overall in my book.
My one concern is the goal keeping dept. As stated earlier, was quite disappointed with Chiamaka's performance and her school girl errors. This is the only weakpoint I noticed on this team. We need to start looking for credible keepers and fast. And please, not that tall keeper from Bayelsa United (can't remember her name) - she is even worse! Yeah, only that Players needed are Zogg, George, Okoronkwo, Babajide - if she's willing. Initially, I thought Babajide was not needed, but I've come to realize that she'll strengthen the team if brought in. The only serious forwards we have are Ajibade, Oshoala Okoronkwo, Onumonu (though she was somewhat disappointing). Kanu is a very good player, but she needs to learn to be a team player. Monday, Ikechukwu, MacLeans are immature, Ordega has seriously regressed, Oparanozie, too. I hope some of the U-20 girls would just step up. |

JohnBullMySon: I wasn't part of those throwing names of coaches. I said Randy should be given some time yet.
The reason we did neither get to the final or reach third place is first because of Ajibade, Ayinde, Monday Gift and to an extent Onumonu. That's not to say I blame them but if actually we are to blame, then It should start from these people before we get to the coach. That's my own take. Okay, I was actually referring to the people making those suggestions. Of a truth, if Ayinde and Ajibade had not been red carded at all, Nigeria would have won the tournament, not even South Africa would have stopped them. Immediately both players got eliminated, I lost hope in the team... I saw no forward who could drive the team, cos Ordega has become a flop, Monday is inconsistent,... Who else was there?.. Oh, Kanu?... I did not bother watching the last match cos I could anticipate it. The good thing - apart from the South Africa match, I think Nigeria played better than their opponents, showing what quality the players possessed, Ucheibe got discovered. Lest I forget, Chiamaka messed up just when one wouldn't expect it, poor Rita was treated with a high value by the coach. Okobi, though has improved, she has a lot more to do to convince me, and... for those atrocious set pieces... she should never have come close to them. Finally... the coach, Iet me just keep my mouth shut for now. |

JohnBullMySon: It may not be talked about, but it is common knowledge that being gay is fairly common in female sport.
Maybe you've forgotten what made FIFA to warn her. She was complaining about the high amount of lesbians in the Falcons squad and bragging about how she will remove them all from the squad.
That was back in 2011. They may not be openly gay but sure we have them. Imagine what will happen if someone like her handles the squad again in 2022. Will you like to see squad members getting sent away for non football reasons? That aside, what did falcons really play during her time? For anyone who cares, times have changed, and I assure you, if most of these names you throw around here are given this team to manage, you all will come back here crying more seriously. |

You are right, If I am to list the players to make way, they'll be Chikwelu(useless), Ordega(Spent, tired), Ikechukwu(not ready) ....Ebi, as good and loyal as she's been, needs to make way for younger players to come through. lovewins: So what exactly is your argument?
I don't think anybody will have a contrary opinion with you if you're arguing for merit based selection. That is, only the best players get to wear the green jersey. But to clamour for the inclusion of players primarily because of where they were born/grew up is rather archaic. No one is more Nigerian than the other. As long as they have the passport and have shown willingness to represent the country, then the only thing that should count is if they are good enough.
If you other argument is that players born outside Nigeria are better advantaged, then that's another conversation on its own. A player born out of Nigeria will likely get better visibility than the ones here and that isn't any fault of theirs. There are structures already in place to mitigate this. If we take our age group teams seriously and invest in and develop our league, then we are giving players plying their trade in Nigeria a platform to announce their selves. But for considerations to be about where a player is born is a slippery slope, you can start it but cannot finish it. If we start making decisions like that, then others can argue that the team should be representative of all the tribes in Nigeria. We then go into a ditch we can't come out for.
Selection should simply be merit based. QED Gbam! |

He got on my very nerves and I gave him a straight warning never in his entire mumu life to address me as a nigga again, dude am even more fairer as a black man, and u have the gut to call me a black man monkey with their mentality, he did it again, and I cut ties with Jimmy,
I stopped seeing him, and I refused him from visiting me, I blocked him everywhere, after a while, Jimmy came back to his normal senses, reported me to mumcy, mumcy called and ask us to settle our rift, Jimmy was like,

lovewins: I am almost convinced this is way beyond a coach's preference, it has more to do with Waldrum's non-faith in home based products. Waldrum has worked all his life in the US, both as a college coach and as a NWSL coach a few times. So he'll rather play those he thinks will understand his system (even if it means playing them out of position) than "gamble" on a homegrown player. If he chooses a player who grew in Nigeria, it's because they either have experience or are already playing at a top flight club in Europe.
He'll rather play a Plumptre, Alozie and Payne out of position than use an Akudo Ogbonna. He'll rather have the veteran Chikwelu (who also plays in Spain) start than play an Ucheibe. You'll also remember he didn't even invite Monday Gift initially, but for the outcry of persons on social media. I can go on and on but it's obvious he has little confidence in home grown product. I won't blame him really, I'll blame those who gave him the job.
By the way, this is in no way a reflection on the players mentioned, they are fantastic players in their own right, however with a poor coach. Calm down, bro. |
