Fantastic suggestion. Worth giving a shot. Just not sure how to manage the disciplines specifics. However, we can focused more on the concepts/principles of research. I'll sure do give this more thoughts. Anyone willing to trailblaze is welcomed.

Quick one on the underlined. Could you elaborate on ... paper review by an author...
- what type of review
- expectation of review
- nature of review
- ... ...

As regarding group research work for 'publication', it might be expedient to give indicative research concepts. Typically what is referred to as a one paper. It might even be a quarter or half page outlining the research brief, concept, problem area, aim/purpose

Good day sir, please apology for the late reply.
Please allow me to restate myself for clarity.

One, I come across a group where an author of a published particular paper makes a presentation via zoom to the members. The paper would be shared among the members before the presentation for questions and suggestions. I suggest a similar program for this group too.

Two, I look forward to collaboration in a group paper publication: Chemical Engineering ( biocatalysis, chemical catalysis, materials, environmental, biofuels, etc)

Thanks

Good afternoon all.
May God continue to bless this group and its pioneers.

Please permit me to make two suggestions:

Monthly paper review by an author through zoom.

Group research work for publication.

And any other academic collaborations.

Good evening guys. I'm sorry for the long story. But it's serious Please
Please I need ur opinions on this issue bothering me. I am a Industrial chemistry graduate. I graduated last year and just completed my NYSC. I want to go for postgraduate studies but I am having difficulties in making a decision on what to do.

Someone advised me to switch to Chemical engineering, (this will require a 1 year postgraduate diploma course) though I wouldn't mind if there's a guarantee I stand a very good chance in the labour market after the PGD and MSC. On the other hand, 2 bros in my area I respect so much discouraged me about switching. Both of them were of the opinion that it would rather keep me confused instead of helping me. That recruiters will consider a candidate with B.Eng Chemical engineering without a masters over me, while chemistry field will consider a chemistry msc holder over me also.
Bottom line, it's almost a waste of time especially here in Nigeria that I should just do msc in industrial chemistry.

I'm still young though. I Will be 22 on 27th of this month.

Refer to a Facebook article titled: chemistry and chemical engineering, similarities and differences. By Bilyamin Abdulmumin I may help

Good day all.
I'm happy to check back this educative thread.
I want to write an article helping students how to find a research topic.
find below my three main points i want to discuss.

please help add your contributions.
thank you

In the introduction of a particular paper of interest, after the author must have introduced the topic, at the last paragraphs he would state his topic and reason why he is embarking on the topic of research, so in the conclusion what is achieved is stated, therefore the difference between what authors aimed at the beginning and what is achieved serve as a problem. The author may clearly stated it as recommendation for future work.

Another interesting way to observe research problems is by noting the problem created by a solution of the focused paper. The authors of a certain work may successfully solve a problem targeted but yet bring about another problem, in orther words one solution begets another problem, thus the problem constitutes a research problem

Follow up reading to the citations of paper of interest is another means which the understanding is improved therefore help come up with research problem, a reputable paper must have got considerable citations, these citations which are works update related to the paper could enlighten the student further which provide wider understanding to the area of study. Note that both the references and citations of the paper are important interms of understanding the work well hence help bring up a research problem. While the references are works that lead up to the paper, the citations are works building up to it.

The saying goes without saying, a problem shared is a problem half solved, this saying correlates well with regard to research topic finding, students will embark on a rigorous reading spree to find a problem from a selected few articles then discuss the problem with a more experienced person-supervisor in this case- and the solution to the problem is provided. Note that reverse could be the case, the research problem could be raised by the supervisor while students go find a solution. Furthermore the possibilities for students to come up with both the problem and solution is not rule out.
With solution proffered to a research problem a few sentences could be put together to form research topic

Nairaland / General / FG’S Twitter Ban: An Opportunity Window by bilal4riid(m): 4:39pm On Jun 19, 2021
FG’S Twitter ban: an opportunity window

The FG vs Twitter brawl began when the latter opted to snub the giant of Africa to locate their African headquarter in Ghana. Twitter cited democracy, respect for free speech and respect for rule of law as some of the reasons for their decisions over Nigeria and other African countries.

The Nigeria communication and culture minister faulted the Nigeria youth for the snub, citing the ENDSARS nationwide protest as an example that put Nigeria in the bad light. But the minister still hit back at the unfavorable decision. In his words: “Clearly, the decision was not a commercial and business one. But, I think Twitter has the prerogative and exclusive rights to decide where to site its headquarters.

But Twitter drew a full fledged derby match as they deleted president Buhari’s post on their platform.

It had been a while since the president addressed the public about issues happening in the country, so much that he has been portrayed as an inactive officer from different quarters. One Nigerian mustered the situation, according to him, president Buhari has the most easiest job in the country, he only wake up from sleep take break fast, medicals and condemn the attacks

But at the heights of government's infrastructure destruction and escalating attacks on authorities especially in the south east. Buhari decided to speak and with a stern warning: “Those of us in the fields for 30 months, who went through the war, will treat them in the language they understand.”

The Twitter deemed the post a violation to its policy on abusive behaviour so it deleted it

FG accused Twitter of double standards, since it allowed the Separatist Leader on loose, unleashing provocative statements with capacity to put Nigeria into flame but they rather turned blind eye. This reason appear plausible

Unfortunately that is not “ the language Twitter understands “ when president Buhari made the remark that Twitter deleted, thousands of users reported it to be abusive so the reasons why Twitter complied. FG have to mobilize people to report any of the Kanu comments as abusive then found Twitter to not comply otherwise the double standard allegations by Nigeria doesn't stand

In what appeared to be logic distortion, at the backdrop of the Buhari post deletion, Nigeria banned Twitter alleging that the microblogging site was being used to undermine “Nigeria’s corporate existence”. This is non sequitur

Nevertheless, the FG vs Twitter skirmish has helped achieve one thing, it serves as a stepping stone to the young developers. In the thick of Twitter and FG wrangle, several calls were made to the Nigerian upcoming techies to grab the golden opportunity and provide alternative

No one was already waiting for the ban like the Crowwe initiator. The developer has taken the full advantage of the situation to advertise his initiative, as time for the brawl elapsed the Crowwe continues to garner acceptance and rejection simultaneously. When Crowwe made the front page in one popular blog his work was met with a brick wall, likely erected by the drummers of the ethnicity, region and religion. It was unfortunate

Another interesting story came from Zamfara of a young techy who utilizes the golden opportunity. His creation’s logo comes in a green wall and an eagle at center, perhaps to symbolize the Nigeria flag and coat of arms. Zamfara state prove to come to the national aid even in the face of all the banditry and kidnapping

But the biggest beneficiary of the ban was an Indian microblogging platform KOO. The company hit the jackpot when the India government banned the American social media platform as result of non compliance with the country's request. The Indian government had asked Twitter to delete and suspend several posts and accounts it deemed unlawful but the plea fell on deaf ears, so the brawl ended up banning Twitter. The KOO fortune moreover kept burning when the Nigeria government identified them as alternatives to communicate their thoughts.

Amidst the Twitter fall, I prefer Nigeria opted for one of the Nigerian creations and damn the consequences

Where and when will the next window of opportunity come from, eagerly anticipating.

ORDINARY PRESIDENT: HOW TO AVOID GETTING SLAP

Slapping people by officials of higher authority in government or an organization is becoming a recurring phenomenon, I realized.

Senator Abbo representing Adamawa North was recently the first top government official to bring this issue to the limelight. The senator was captured physically assaulting a shopkeeper where he went for shopping. He went on to render some gorgeous slaps to the other lady purported to be helping the first victim.

The drama immediately went viral which eventually made the senator eat off the pride. Thanks to the CCTV camera mounted In the shop that captured all the incidents.

What could be the reasons why the senator went wild with his attitude?. Barely one month from swearing in into the Nigerian red chamber, for the first time and at a young age, the upheria attached must be uncontrollable.

It is simple to avoid getting slapped of this nature, in future. Avoid any form of altercation with newly assumed office people, especially young ones. And those who come to adult shops are more fearsome to mess with.

Another similar saga that has just rock the nation news line was that involving Umar Dan Ladi, the current chairman of Code of Conduct tribunal (CCT)

The CCT boss is currently being probed for allegedly assaulting a security guard man who maintain packing space.

The boss felt (as understood by his actions) that he should not be asked to maintain car packing orders like any other person else. At least he had once docked and tried the third citizen of Nigeria, the then president of the eight senate, Bukola Sarki. However the poor security man possibly ignorantly or gave no damn, kept it glue to his job which earned him the wrath of the lawyer.

To avoided this from happening, make sure the person you are asking to maintain any form of order is not a superior authority instead allow your doubts and ponder to overcome.

I think ABU security are abreast, especially those on guard for the smaller gates, whenever you are not with the means of identification and you want to avoid being questioned all you need to do is form boss.

BBC documentary, African Eye, has currently focused on Ahmed isah, the president of Brekete Family, a human rights program. He has been under fire since the giant media outlet checked on him, with the slapping of his interviewee as one of the major focus of the documentary.

Brekete Family shows can be seen as a last resort for anyone seeking justice in Nigeria. This program became so popular because of the success stories it achieved and the kind of cases it dealt with.

Because of these, the Brekete Family can be thought of as the least expected place where someone would be slapped, guilty or not guilty. But ordinary Ahmad isah as his named implies fell short to the cold hands of remorse (though Mahmud Jega has said we should desist from using the phrase “ cold hand of death” in his words it is disrespectful“) when he descended on the cheeks of his interviewee.

The slapped lady was accused of burning the hair of another girl alleged to be a witch. When Ordinary attempted several times to get her to explain the motive behind the turture, the lady continued to feign ignorance. Loosing his temper, Ordinary Ahmad could not resist the temptation of the lady's cheeks.

However, Unlike the media that were determined to bring the issue to spotlight, the commentators are undeterred, they are solidly behind the human right activist.

Nevertheless whenever you are interacting with anyone, higher in authority, when giving a statement and which you are sure to be unfair or if what you are going to say is capable of triggering anger, I advise you, maintain NCDC protocol, keep two (2) metre distance and avoid possible backslash.

It is better not to get slap than proving innocence.

Politics / Buharist Vs Non Buharist; Season Of Ball Game by bilal4riid(m): 12:37pm On Sep 08, 2020
Buharist and non Buharist; Season of Ball Game.

Nigerian Political theatre is getting interesting day by day as derby between Buharist and non Buharist is heating up. Rain of arguments and counter arguments remains. The “ willing buyer and willing seller” for the power sector and “ deregulation of petroleum” are the two unpopular policies that immensely agitate the polities.

The year 2020 plagues Nigerians with many challenges starting from Covid-19, ASUU strikes to ever increase in costs of living. There is perpetual lamentation about the cost of food stuff that is on an increase on a daily basis which is becoming unbearable among vulnerables. And to cap it all, the PMS price and electricity tariff shot up.

This situation has since set the stage for a match between Buharist and non Buharist on the current administration's controversial policies.

Inorder to defend the hike in fuel prices, pro Buharist based their argument on their fact that the deregulation of petroleum market is the best.To confer their claim with some legitimacy, they point out to the fact of fuel availability. they further brought up list of prices of the PMS price for many countries where Nigerian PMS per litre price is the cheapest. This highlights that the Nigerian price is still the best.

But nobody fails when given the opportunity to select facts. Not even pro Buhari they must have carefully selected countries with higher fuel prices to favor their claim. Fact has to be relative in order to get accorded with due consideration.

I once revoked a friend argument in 2018 during the Ekiti gubernatorial election. He had assured PDP victory in the state. He went ahead and showed me results of a ward where PDP was winning with a landslide victory. That was before the overall result had been declared by INEC. I reasoned to him that another APC supporter can simply do the same with result from another ward that favor his party.

That list of the PMS price comparison did not go down well with the non Buharist so they thereafter counter that argument with extended indices to include minimum wage and unemployment. The figures brought therein is a damning blow to pro Buharist. Imagine a minimum wage of a 500k.

However, Jafar Jafar- the Gandollar convener- who usually posts in metaphoric on his Facebook wall, attempted in a similar strategy to disagree on the pro Buhari comparison. He captioned the figures thus; “this is the price of garri, sachet of cowbell and groundnut in some countries of the world” instead of ``this is the price of PMS per litre in some countries of the world”. The post was flooded with utter disagreement. Some posted so much writing on the page just to counter his supposed support on the argument. To many of them he was sporting the government that even garri is cheaper in Nigeria whereas he was nailing the government on the basis of hunger in the nation. Nigerians are too busy, no time to interpret sarcasm.

However it seems this popular debate follows the other never ending one, food items cost comparison between 2015 and 2020.

In that argument, non Buharist try to depict the current masses' hardship. To do so they brought some list of items: rice, sugar, etc and their cost. the argument would become very popular and thought evoking.

Buhari supporters will not carry last, after some thought and reflection they countered that by going down line further. They highlighted even greater worst price differences when they compared those items between 1998 when PDP took over and 2015 when they left. This claim to some extent neutralises non Buharist challenge.

I first heard a similar argument with BBC hausa when they interviewed IBB. There was concern about naira devaluation then. So, in order to give his administration credit IBB mentioned how he left Naira value against the dollar compared to the time he was interviewed, the interviewer got the idea of where he was going. So she asked further questions “ how was the value of Naira when you took over? Actually IBB met 1 dollar tobe 0.89 Naira and at the end of his regime 1 dollar was equivalent to 17 Naira. That question had instantly set the Maradona off balance.

The Buharist have a burden to live with, defence to new policies. It's difficult to be in a position to protect yourself from barrage of blows for some pass through.

But the big trouble with non Buharist however doesn’t lie where to find his weakness but better living candidate. One pro Buhari nailed it where he said when you asked them who’s better than Buhari they replied Yar’adua and Abacha.
