PoliticsRe: APC Accuses Gov. Peter Obi Of Playing Politics With Nigeria’s Unity by billante(m): 6:25pm On Aug 04, 2013
What is the difference btw this Lai statement and nairaland tribal war threads!

I won't be surprise if lai has a moniker here on nairaland.

Since APC executives members are members of nairaland and sees what am typing....let them know they have drawn the line of war and the unity of this country is going up in smokes.

cKaiser: The motive is to get many Yorubas in our cities to know whats going on and where their laid back attitude has gotten them

If they continue in the line where it would get them. Its already working, More people on ground are becoming more aware and very soon their cups would be full and would overflow

Now people are realising that in the direction soon foreigners would ask for traditional posts to be elective just to satisfy them

That to us is winning. Its part of the strategic thinking
@OAMJ pls start with dis guy! He is one of them....what nonsense is he talking about!

This nonsense tribal bashing are done by not more than 30 yorubas out of thousands that are on nairaland
PoliticsRe: Can We Put An End To Ethnic Rivalries And Hostilities? by billante(m): 10:18pm On Aug 03, 2013
cKaiser: Its pointless where we are now.

Yorubas have been bending backwards too much just to appear sophisticated and moderate.

Everyday on here Tinubu and other Yoruba leaders gets abused by almost every Ibo nothing was done, Later they moved to Fashola, Later to Soyinka and we Yorubas are still taking it in

Some people have done it forever uncurbed its now time for the other side to retaliate and the retaliation might go beyond the internet because previously uninterested Yorubas are now getting to know that their indifference is actually hurting

I know a few Yoruba posters who never used to care but now, they have had enough and are fighting back.

Previously how many times do you see nitrogen, babe_online, Kulyie etc post tribal posts? But the Ibos have pushed them to their limits.

Lets continue in the current mode and lets see who lose. Nobody has the monopoly of anything
And you actually think you are winning the war??

And don't say you guys are retaliating anything cause its not an igbo dat put up the action that started this war!

Oboy the matter tire me, Grown men! I marvel at the sheer amount of time and energy they put into this tribal war thing!
It can go up to 20 pages of childish tribal stupidity!

This ilunguboy that has been on this topic for the past 5 days, let me ask you....... in all honesty and with consciences, if the FCT minister goes to a poor yoruba community at abuja gathers all the yorubas there bundles them into a camp, demolish their homes and after some months pack them into an open truck and go to ibadan under bridge and dumped them there by 2am and disappears, will Ajumobi keep quite and side the minister?
PoliticsRe: Fashola Denies Deportation Allegation At Meeting With Igbo Leaders by billante(m): 10:05am On Aug 03, 2013
Goddex: Why is Fashola moving from pillar to post arranging meetings with unknown Igbo men just to save face? He should simply apologise to Anambra state and Ndigbo generally.
This is to tell him that igbos are too powerful to be pushed about or treated poorly and don't expect a backlash!

This matter is now giving him sleepless night and he has to show remorse first and apologies then obi will also apologies too,

If not this matter will never die down.....Don't underrate the powers of igbos in lagos!

He should find a way to organise a political rally at main market Onitsha or any other place with ngige and publicly apologies for uniting (let's use his word) nigerian citizens in the middle of the night..... If he keeps his arrogant position of he never did one single wrong in this matter, he will see what will happen in next election, even in lagos gov election, PDP will win for the first time in lagos......all the ofemannus in this forum should watch out.....this matter can never die....unless what I said are done.

payless: What a delusional liar of a President.

You once promised electricity by end of 2012. You and your Minister also pledged to put problem of power behind us by end of 2013. Your Minsiter said in June that the date has now been rescheduled to 2014. When you give out contracts, I thought there should be dates when the terms of the contracts must be met. In you own case Mr. President, the date of contract delivery is unending. I know you don't give a damn! You did not promise us your so called "steady progress". People can't see your so called steady progress being made in the power sector. All we hear are numbers of contracts being given to newly registered companies owned by some Nigerian elements. In the last 18 months, there have been over 100 power contracts approved by you to these companies with nothing to show for it. These contracts are running into tens of billion dollars. The only thing to show for this so called progress is unending blackout. Going by your Minister for Power, power problem is as a result of witches and wizards. How clueless can you get, Jonathan? As recent as 10 days ago, your Minister said Nigerians can now boast of 16 hour per day of electricity. Do you truly believe that? Go to main cities in Nigeria and rejoice with them that they now enjoy 16 hour electricity. Let us see if you come out alive while doing it.

How dare you praise INEC when all you and your power drunk killer party called PDP did was to throw spanners into the registration of APC? You and your fellow party men went ahead to create problem by springing up the same acronym of APC. Do you think Nigerians are so stup.id and can't see through your dirty politics? The registration of APC should not have taken this long if not for your political gimmick. Mr. President, your plan was to have original APC to engage in an unending court battle with other APCs, but God was bigger than you after all. Registration process of APC should not have taken more than two months, but with God on their side APC was finally registered.

On MTN appointing a Nigerian as CEO, Nigerian government had no hand in the appointment. The only reason is nothing other than the guy is cheaper and qualified as any other executives who vied for the job. Appointing a Nigerian as CEO makes a lot of sense because MTN will be paying him the fraction of what a white man or Indian man would have accepted as salaries and benefits. Once again Mr. President, you had nothing to do with the appointment of MTN CEO. MTN makes its own decision as a South African company.

Mr. President, you claimed in your last paragraph of your plan to build strong democratic institution but your record shows otherwise. Have you forgotten what happened during NGF, where 16 votes were greater than 19? What about your arithmetic of 5 being bigger than 27 in Rivers State House of Assembly? What stopped you from taking a position during the NGF saga? What stopped your from calling your dogs out that 5 legislators cannot and should not impeach the Speaker who has the backing of 27 others? Why haven’t you call your wife to order? Your wife destabilized a whole state while you sit still.

Mr. President, you can run but you can't hide. Nigerians know you for your deceit and deceptive way of governance. Nigerians can see through your lies. 2015 is around the corner, you should prepare for rude awakening.
Haven't this ur ranting confirmed what d president said
About Nigeria having the freest press and citizens!.....and you open that pit latrine you call a mouth and call him a liar!

I don't blame you! I blame abacha for eating the forbidden fruit!

Nigeria is making progress, no matter what the enemies make us think!

First it was APC finally being registered and now soludo officially going for the governorship race under APGA!

GEJ is no tyrant, he allows a level playing open field for politics, kudos to him.
PoliticsSoludo Officially Joins APGA! by billante(op): 7:44am On Aug 01, 2013
Former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2010 governorship election in Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo, has formally resigned his membership of PDP.

He has subsequently joined the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), where he had already been registered as a member in his Isuofia ward, Aguata Local Government Area of the state.

But his candidacy as PDP standard bearer in the last governorship election in the state was revisited Wednesday by one of his rivals for the party’s ticket in 2009, Senator Andy Ubah, who described the process of his emergence as undemocratic.

His new party, Soludo said after being registered in his ward Wednesday, by the ward chairman, Okeke Anthony, is a party with sound and progressive ideology on which platform one could offer himself to the service of his people and try to express those ideas that will make for growth and transform Anambra into the “African Dubai-Taiwan” of his dream.

In his July 17 resignation letter addressed to the PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, a copy of which was made available to THISDAY in Isuofia Wednesday, Soludo said his resignation took effect from that date and used the opportunity to thank the party for the opportunity given to him to serve in some capacity.

The resignation, he said, was “without prejudice to the possibility of future collaboration with the party in any areas of common interest designed to advance the course of nation-building.”

But shortly after being registered as a member of APGA in his Isuofia ward Wednesday, the former CBN governor, who granted interview to some journalists, while responding to speculations that he had joined APGA, said: “The short answer to that is that it is true.”

“I have resigned my membership of PDP. I have formally written to the national chairman of PDP a letter dated July 17 of this year. It is quite fortuitous that you people arrived at a time when you saw the ward chairman of APGA register and issue me with a membership card. I registered at Isuofia ward.”

He explained that the process of deciding to join APGA is a product of long months of consultation among his people and in fact a personal conviction.

“I started over a year ago a process of consultation on our political future, what next and the political arena. I remain convinced that the greatness of this country is not in doubt and that it is through participation in the political process that one can contribute to its development.

“Everybody who has something to offer must get involved. It is during this wide consultation and during which I asked my people wide ranging questions that made me get involved.

“The question centred on if they thought it was not worst to have gotten into the terrain and just kiss it goodbye or do we remain engaged and if we are to be engaged in which party. This formed the fulcrum of my consultation,” he said.

Soludo said though he had been a member of PDP on whose platform he made his unsuccessful bid to govern the state, there is always time for sober reflection, adding, “The result of the consultation is the decision we have taken”.

“The first is that there is an overwhelming demand by Anambra people for me to remain engaged in the political process. After more than a year of consultation, I came to the conviction that I should remain in the process.

“Secondly, by even a greater conviction, that I should also run for the governorship of Anambra State building on the legacies of Governor Peter Obi. We need continuity, transformation and to consolidate on the gains of the past eight years.

“There is this demand by my people that I should once offer myself for service. There is also a demand by our people that I should join the party that our people call their own which represents the essence, the aspirations and hopes of all Nigerians in general and the Igbos in particular.

“It is a party that is a mass movement and lives in the consciousness of the people.

“I am not joining APGA simply as a vehicle to contest for governorship of Anambra State. I am joining it because I want to breathe it, drink it, and exude it because in totality I agree with the trust and objectives of APGA,” Soludo said in defence of his choice of APGA.

Soludo who hails from Anambra South zone joined APGA to actualise his ambition at a time the state Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, also of the same party, said he was looking towards the state’s north zone for his successor.

But he said he was not aware of any zoning or rotation of positions in APGA as it is not anywhere in the party’s constitution.

Meanwhile, the senator representing Anambra South in the National Assembly, Ubah, Wednesday attributed PDP’s defeat in the last governorship election in the state to the crisis that followed the "hand-picking” of Soludo as the party’s candidate.

Ubah, a PDP aspirant in the November election in the state, told journalists Wednesday, during an interactive session with indigenes of the state in Abuja, that internal party wrangling, lack of cohesion, perceived wrongdoing and extortion of money from aspirants forced most of them out of the party to seek alternative platforms to actualise their ambitions.

He said: “PDP would have won that election, going by the number of votes all the 56 aspirants that eventually defected to other political parties were able to garner, which surpassed the total votes gathered by the state Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, who won the state election.

“First, there was clear case of injustice on my side. As I said, there was a precedent that any candidate that his election was nullified by the court should be the party’s automatic candidate in the next election.

"All the governors that their elections were nullified were all made the party’s candidates. When it was my turn to be made the party’s candidate, following the nullification of my election in 2007, the party chose to hand-pick Chukwuma Soludo. This singular action made me to look for an alternative platform,” he said.
