President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua has said he does not recognise the June 27 run-off in Zimbabwe in which the country's President Robert Mugabe stood as the only candidate and was returned to power. source:http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=117417 the pot is calling the kettle black |

if corruption is a way of life in Nigeria, then you must be corrupt to live |
@ Meshinoye: Whats the meaning of the picture? |
The reason why I'm saying this is that I noticed that a lot of times when u engage the Ijaw man in some conversation they always say crap like "You Igbos want our oil" I mean like seriously Igbos have abundant oil and really don't give a crap about it. We'll rather spend time in school. Some even got nerves to say that Ibibios and Efiks have no oil so they should not talk at all or what about the ones that hate the fact that Abia and Imo are part of ND. What about Igbos in Rivers. The Delta Igbos don't have any rosy relationship with them also. Such attitudes are reason why the whole battle has been left for them to do. They cannot win without integrating with their neighbors so until they learn that no Southerner gives a damn about their oil and are genuinely in support of their fight for justice things are not going to get any better.your analysis is hollow sound like market women talk |
Stupid people, all they care about is to create useless state that are not viable, just to get the monthly allocation and share it among themselves. |
people dont resign in Nigeria, its against our principle |
Silence is the best answer, |
NIGERIA is among 12 countries in the world reporting the highest under-five mortality rate among children, according to the 2008 State of the World's Children Report launched in Abuja yesterday. UNICEF Representative in Nigeria, Dr. Robert Limlim, who painted a gloomy picture of children health profile in the country, said "in more concrete terms, more than one million children under five years of age die annually in this country." He continued: "Nearly a third of the children under five are underweight. Half of the population does not have access to improved drinking water sources. The incidence of polio has reached such proportion today that urgent and drastic measures have to be taken if Nigeria must interrupt transmission by next year According to the State of Africa's Children Report, Sub-Saharan Africa faces the greatest crisis of child mortality as about 50 per cent of child deaths in the world happen in the region. Children die of pneumonia, malaria and AIDS, from various childhood diseases such as measles, as well as from causes, including diarrhoea, related to a lack of clean water and sanitation. Under nutrition contributes up to half of all under-five deaths. "Nigeria accounts for 50 per cent of child deaths in the region. This figure can be reduced if the accelerated child survival and development strategy and recently adopted integrated maternal new born and child health policy is vigorously implemented", Limlim said source:http://www.guardiannewsngr.com/news/article04//indexn2_html?pdate=160708&ptitle=Nigeria,%2011%20others%20top%20infant%20mortality%20chart |
this is absolutely pathetic |
80 per cent of Nigerian youths are jobless, says minister MORE than 80 per cent of Nigerian youths are unemployed, the Minister of Youth Development, Akinlabi Olasunkanmi has said. He based his assertion on data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). Even the 10 per cent of the entire youth population on paid jobs are under-employed, the minister declared. Olasunkanmi said the situation had contributed to the high incidence of criminality among youths in the country. Olasunkanmi, who painted the pathetic plight of the country's youths, said: "According to the 2006 provisional census figure, Nigeria has a youth population of 80 million, or 60 per cent of her total population. Of this population, more than 80 per cent are unemployed while about 10 per cent are under-employed. Data made available by the National Manpower Board and the NBS indicate that only about 10 per cent of the graduates released into the labour market yearly by Nigerian universities and other tertiary institutions of learning are able to get paid employment." source:http://www.guardiannewsngr.com/news/article05//indexn2_html?pdate=160708&ptitle=80%20per%20cent%20of%20Nigerian%20youths%20are%20jobless,%20says%20minister |
well madam Waziri says the Nigeria politicians/officials are mentally deranged, thats is the reason they loot the treasury mercilessly |
Brother Subzeeero Thanks, for detail explanation. l wish l meet in person for further explanation and clearification. Is it true that a Muslim male slave owner is free to have sex with his female slave irrespective of consent or marriage status? |
Nigerians are abused in every country abroad, even Government officials. The name Nigeria means nothing, can get you anything except detention and abuse. |
this is not the first time, some years back in Kano an Ibo man was drag out of the prison and beheaded; the head dripping with blood was paraded round the city by those terrorists who called themselve muslimsdo we need to say more, its a pattern. |
Mc Usman How many Hausa people have been killed and robbed on daily basis in Onisha. Just because one Igbo Man was killed in Kaduna MASSOB can go to hell.Every single life matters. l believe you are one of those people whom Waziri said require a psychiatric treatment. A good muslim is anybody that respect the dignity of life.Just like they are being used for suicide bombing or like the almajiris whose parent have abandoned them (child abuse) to the street to fend for themselves. |
A referendum is been proposed by the ruling Scottish National Party to determine the faith of the union. Strong indication suggest that Scotland might pull out of United Kingdom. Historically , Scottish people don't view themselves as part of the union, they ve always look toward Irish for inspiration, with whom they share strong cultural link. There is no need for them to up arm since they are going to express their view through the ballot box. The situation with Nigeria is very different, moreover the present prime minister of Britain is a Scottish. The statement from mend seems to be nothing more than a public relation exercise, to counter Britain offer of support for the Federal Government. |
the guy is tendering his health. For those who want to see the president for official purpose, the waiting list is over 6 months. Your best bet is to talk to his aids and hope for the best. |
You cant be Nigeria president, simply because you ve express interest. People who become Nigeria president don't ask for it, they are given on a platter of gold. Shagari did nt ask, they gave him, Shonekan was sitting on his own and was promoted to president, Obasanjo was recuperating from prison trauma, when they forced him to aso rock. Yaradua was tendering his failing health, when they drag him to the presidency. We don't give people who want it, we only give people who don't want it. |
MASSOB vows to avenge Igboman’s killing in Kaduna The leader of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, Chief Ralph Uwazurike, has said that his organisation will resort to self-help if government fails to expose the killers of an Igboman in Kaduna on Wednesday. Uwazurike told reporters in Awka, the Anambra State capital, on Friday, that MASSOB would not close its “eyes when Igbos are killed like sheep and chicken,”while affirming a sit-at-home order for Igbos on August 26. The MASSOB leader was in Awka on a courtesy visit to the vice-presidential candidate of the Action Congress in the 2007 elections, Senator Ben Obi, whom he described as one of the boldest and greatest Igbos living. He said the Igboman killed in Kaduna was dragged out of a police station where he was being detained and beaten to death. He recalled a similar killing of an Igbo trader, Gideon Akaluka, some 15 years ago in Kano, which resulted in mayhem in the commercial city. Akaluka was fished from the prison by his assailants and decapitated by a mob. Uwazurike said, “If the deceased had run foul of the law, why couldn’t they let the law take its course? Nobody has the monopoly of violence. If government does not do anything about it, we can show that no one has the monopoly of violence.” Uwazurike decried the continued marginalisation of the Igbo in the polity and wondered why no Igboman had been appointed the Chief Justice of Nigeria since the civil war ended nearly 40 years ago. source:http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art200807122575520 this is not the first time, some years back in Kano an Ibo man was drag out of the prison and beheaded; the head dripping with blood was paraded round the city by those terrorists who called themselve muslims |

maybe Okiro should speak to the army who are selling weapons to militants and armed robbers |
Robbers are killing too many policemen - Okiro cries out THE rate at which policemen on duty are mowed down in the prime of their lives is giving the police sleepless nights, as something must be done urgently to check it. The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mike Okiro, raised the alarm on Thursday while presenting cheques worth over N35 million to the next of kin of 75 policemen killed by armed robbers, in road traffic accidents or were lynched by mobs. Okiro, who was represented by the DIG “A”, Ogbonnaya Onovo, said the public was becoming conscious of the supreme sacrifices paid by policemen. According to him, “the rate at which we are losing policemen to armed robbers and irate mobs is becoming alarming and uncomfortable to the force hierarchy and we need to check this situation with everything at our disposal.” Okiro noted that the police authorities had been doing their best by providing policemen with bulletproof vests, helmets and other accessories that could shield them from bullet. He attributed the rising wave of crime to small arms proliferation, which he said the force was fighting “tooth and nail to check.” Okiro added that statistics had shown all over the world that policing was the most dangerous job as a policeman goes out in the morning for his day’s job and does not know whether he would return home alive. Okiro said the amount was being provided for the families to alleviate their sufferings as there was no amount of money that could replace life and urged them to make judicious use of the money in training the children. source:http://www.tribune.com.ng/11072008/news/news5.html |
TOP African officials have criticised new European Union (EU) rules against illegal immigration, accusing the wealthy bloc of failing to treat migrants with dignity and of breaking pledges to co-operate. EU ministers backed French proposals on Monday for a European pact to stem illegal immigration and attract highly skilled job-seekers, weeks after the EU decided illegal immigrants could be detained for up to 18 months and face a five-year re-entry ban. But Africa, from where thousands of would-be immigrants risk their lives each year trying to reach Europe in rickety boats, had so far been largely silent on the new EU measures The European Commission estimates there are up to 8 million illegal immigrants in the 27-nation European Union. More than 200,000 were arrested in the EU in the first half of 2007 with just under 90,000 expelled. The 18-month detention limit is longer than the current maximum period in two-thirds of the 27 EU states. Although EU states can keep a lower limit if they want, rights groups say it will encourage authorities to lock up more illegal immigrants. Under the migration pact, to be finalised in October, EU states pledge to expel more illegal immigrants while promoting legal migration and a common asylum policy by 2010. These initiatives are the latest steps by EU members to address voter concerns over immigration and they follow efforts to set up joint border patrols and bio-metric police databases. Meanwhile, 15 African migrants have died of hunger, thirst or exposure as they drifted on a small, overcrowded boat bound for Spain, most of them small children, report said. The deaths were the second tragedy this week in the saga of destitute Africans risking their lives to reach Europe's southern gateway in search of work. source:http://www.guardiannewsngr.com/africa/article01//indexn2_html?pdate=110708&ptitle=Africans%20fault%20EU%20curbs%20on%20illegal%20immigration |
forget investigation, this is what happen all the time. Past investigations lead nowhere. Even the president, with a pending court ruling, would not hesitate to pervert the course of justice. He already set the ball rolling by manipulatiing the appointment of a supreme court judge. |

Britain stops issuance of visas to Nigerians THE British High Commission in Abuja and the Deputy High Commission in Lagos have announced the stoppage of the issuance of visas to certain Nigerians wishing to travel to the United Kingdom. British consular authorities claimed that the decision was informed by “an unavoidable technical failure.” From tomorrow, their visa application centres in Abuja, Ibadan, Ikeja and Victoria Island will only accept applications from certain categories of would-be UK visit According to the High Commission, visa applications bordering on urgent and compassionate cases (e.g medical treatment, returning residents, fast track applicants and settlement for children) will, however, not be affected. Other categories of travellers whose visa applications will be accepted and processed include: EEA family permits, diplomats and officials, DATV and transit visitors and long-term students source:http://www.tribune.com.ng/10072008/news/news18.html |
