Politics / Re: Weighty Matters About Our Country - By Femi Adesina by bimbotek: 11:26pm On Oct 08, 2021
I am not a fan of this PMB’s govt, neither do I comment on politics or public affairs on social media because of obvious reasons ( bias)...but then Femi Adeshina and Minister BRF threw a challenge to the public especially members of cabinet of previous administration, to name ONE major road, bridge, rail, airport or any other significant public infrastructure started and completed in 16yrs and by now nobody could come out and say anything. This is such a shame, a very big one .
Where are the past ministers of road, transportation, aviation etc. How about OBJ, ATIKU, UMY,GEJ and SAMBO? How about the media aides( una no fit talk one project started and completed) in 16 good years?
This does not absolve the present administration from its failure neither is it a leeway to bulk passing.
Nigeria’s democratic adventure has been a total failure from 1999 to date. Shame on all of our past and present leaders, shame on the populace who have supported and still support these politicians inrespective of political party affiliation. Shame on all of us who don’t demand accountability from public office holders. We all have let this country down.

Crime / White Headmaster At New York Catholic School Placed On Leave After Racist Remark by bimbotek: 7:58pm On Mar 24, 2021
The White headmaster of a Catholic school on Long Island has been placed on leave following reports that he had a Black student kneel in apology last month, calling it "the African way" to apologize.

The headmaster was temporarily removed from his job at St. Martin de Porres School in Hempstead, New York, after parent Trisha Paul went to the local press regarding her 11-year-old son's treatment at the school.

The incident was first reported by the New York Daily News.

"St. Martin's neither condones nor accepts the actions of our headmaster," Brother James Conway, the school's acting headmaster, said in a statement. "The incident does not reflect our long, established values or the established protocols regarding student related issues."

"We have launched an internal review of the incident and restated in the clearest terms what is the established and approved practice for student-faculty interaction," Conway continued. "Our most important mission here at St. Martin's is to provide our children with the spiritual and educational foundation that will allow them to lead exemplary lives."

In an interview with CNN on Tuesday, Paul said she noticed her son seemed sad after school one day late last month. When she asked him what happened, he told her he'd been sent to the headmaster's office for working on an assignment in his Literature class during designated reading time.

Paul said her son's teacher took the assignment, tore it up, and brought her son to the headmaster's office. Once there, Paul said, the headmaster told her son to kneel before the teacher in apology.

"I was filled with all different types of emotion," Paul said. When the headmaster called a few days later to discuss dates for her son's first communion, Paul said she brought it up.

"I asked him what happened," she said. "He began to tell me a story about an African family that attended the school many years ago."

The headmaster, according to Paul, told her about a former student whose father had once told him to bow when apologizing, calling it "the Nigerian way."

"I was just at a loss for words," Paul, who along with her son is Black and of Haitian descent, told CNN. "I didn't understand the relevance."

"I was really sad and disappointed," she said, adding that she went to the school to speak with the headmaster a few days later. "I was hoping to get through to him," she said.

In his office, the headmaster told the story again, Paul said. "This time, it was 'the African way.'" She said she tried to convey to the headmaster that he'd "humiliated and degraded my son," but said she didn't feel heard.

Paul said she decided to remove her son from in-person classes, and he currently attends remotely.

"He has become extremely quiet," she said Tuesday. "His interactions with everyone -- family, friends -- has changed. He's sad. He has questions. He's just trying to cope with this."

"We are not all the same," she said. "We are not all Africans. We are not all Nigerians."

Paul said she was never notified of the disciplinary incident by the school.

"I do believe that had my son not told me about this incident, it would have been brushed under the rug," she said. "I'm hoping there's some kind of resolution where he does step down," she said of the headmaster. "I want there to be change. I want my child to be that person who makes a difference."

The headmaster, who is not being named by CNN, did not respond to requests for comment. Neither Conway nor St. Martin de Porres commented on the matter beyond the acting headmaster's public statement.

Travel / Re: Lies Of Nigerians Living In America by bimbotek: 9:09pm On Oct 29, 2017
timesup234:
The funniest and most expensive joke I have heard from Nigerians doing menial jobs in the US. and earning between $1,500- $2,000, is claiming that they are richer than bank managers in Nigeria. I guess they make their money in America while spending it in Nigeria. This stupid joke need to stop. A Nigerian doing menial job in the US. at best can be compare to someone receiving 80,000 Monthly in Nigeria in purchasing power. A Nigerian doing odd jobs for 10 yrs will still be paying rent while a 10 yrs bank manager would have long built two to three houses with a lucrative investment. Nigerians in America need to stop converting currencies because it is clearly stated that if you earn $12,000 annually in America you are living in poverty

Op....you need to define what a bank manager is. bank manager na just title oooo. A manager grade in a bank starts from AM( assistant manager) next is DM(deputy manager).
Trust me op....AM grade in some banks earn 500k monthly and I bet u dont want to know what they use that salary to do.....from topping up when u book expensive TD's to never ending PR's to get quality accounts....op no beef us wen u see us in suit oooo....na just packaging. If u are still in doubt walk down to broad street and see loan shacks advertising loans to bankers and see us scrambling for it. Bottom line is ur disposable income...compare odd jobbers in the US with some oda professional in Nigeria not bank managers pls.

Hello VO...thanks for th good job you are doing.
I have read other people's transcript where they were asked about how the person who invited them got his permanent resident permit. A whole lot of people feel the visa officer denied them the visa because of this question.
I have always thought granting or denying an applicant a US visa is strictly based on showing ties to his/her country. Can u please clarify on this. Thank you.
Travel / Re: Air Travellers, Share Your Travel Experiences With African Airlines by bimbotek: 1:49am On Oct 02, 2017
Flew Kenya airways last year to Heathrow and I had a wonderful experience... they look us in a small plane to nairobi thou.
Kenya and Ethiopian airways would do it for African airlines.

As I type this heennnn...I am stuck at Abu dhabi...took Etihad form lagos to Heathrow and back....God, I am suffering. It all started from MMIA...they could not check in my baby, they had issues with checking in infant on thei system, so they gave us a hand written boarding pass and asked that I should liaise with their transfer desk at Abu dhabi...those ones were able to print th boarding pass.. so off we went to Heathrow. Then the return flight for sat 30 sept was for 3pm...I could not check in online as I still can't check in my baby, got to th airport and stayed on the line..got to my turn and the attendent on desk C26, with the name tag Karen said I won't go with the plane cos I have not checked in online...told her all my issues of not been able to check in online from lagos and still can't check in cos of the infant...Omo she no gree ooo....she said I was suppose to be at the queue 3hrs before departure...na so Etihad no carry me oooo...was left with my 9month baby and wife. Had to call my travel agent who booked another etihad for 3pm Oct 1 a no show at 310k..so I slept at premier Inn at healthrow for 73 pounds...I was at the airport by 12noon...checked in, flight didn't depart till 4.30pm ooo for a 3pm flight.so we got to Abu Dhabi 2.30. The connecting flight to lagos had gone already so they arranged for Egypt air..unfortunately Egypt air has been delayed till 10am Abu Dhabi time, worst case in even if we take the Egypt air at 10, we won't get a flight to lagos till 24hrs again....we are begging them to let's take a bus to dubai and at least connect lagos with emirate...they said emirate Is not their partner airline, qatar air is a no go area cos of th GCC crises...as I type, I don't even know what they want to do. We are stranded inside the airport. They don't wanna take us to an hotel and their is no hope of leaving here soon.

Henceforth...if I cannot afford a direct flight...menn, na to stay for house..no vacation.

Tls sent a mail yesterday that wiffy's passport was ready for collection without any news on our baby's passport. She was at vac today...6 month was granted to her while they said the baby's passport is not yet ready.

Stop over worrying... it is only on few occasions you can be stopped and asked questions... be prepared incase you are stop...this people are human being like you .. just speak to them like you will speak to any stranger politely and let them know due to unforeseen circumstances you could not make it .. not you intend to spend some wuality time with family and also enjoy the beautiful country.

Why do you think the UK government gives 6 month.. on your application you must have applied for 2 weeks or 1 month but they gave u 6 months for a reason.
So stop panicking , prepare yourself , dress decent and be yourself. If you are worrying too much then do not fly pass heathrow then.

Good luck

Yes I agree with you. Everyone travelling needs to be prepared for those guys at POE. They are human, just address them with courtesy and present your case. My first time at Heathrow, I had made the stupid mistake of imputing one of my inlaws name on the landing form meanwhile I claimed I know no one in the UK while filling my visa application form and would be staying at the hotel. They took me up at POE on this and I ''jejely'' explained to them. They asked for evidence of where I work, that's my ID, unfortunately I had no work ID on me, but I was with my complimentary card which I showed him, he asked for my leave letter, I was not with this too but luckily I still had my email notification for leave on my official mail which I could still access even in the UK, I quickly showed him that too, then he asked for my return ticket and I presented that too. He asked why I didn't come to the UK on the date I stated on my UK application, I quickly opened my Gmail to show him the message from UKVI informing me that my application would take more time to process hence this disrupted my travelling plans. Saw the ring on my finger then he Asked for my marital status, I told him I'm married, asked why wiffy is not with me since I claim I was on vacation, showed him pics of my pregnant wiffy and evidence of her wanting to have her baby in the US, hence cudnt make the UK trip.........bottom line is I didn't panic despite been questioned for like 7mins whereas other pple b4 me didn't spend more than 45 seconds to 1 min. To cut the story short, he stamped me in and wished me a nice stay. But even if the guy had sent me back home, which he has the power to do, travelling has never been a do or die affair for me. So bro, don't panic, just state ur case. Anybody can be taken up at POE. Anybody

Hello Abujaniv,
Thanks or the wonderful job you are doing on this platform. I have some colleagues here in my office who have got impressive travel history ( europe , Asia and Africa) and yet have been denied US visa several times. ( I also have been denied twice though) . I feel that should ask the VO if they have a ban on their record since the vo won't say any such thing. I just want to know, is it a good thing to ask if there is a travel ban on one's profile.
Thank you.

Hi guys,
Thanks for the good job u guys are doing here.
I have a colleague at work who was refused her visa application today. Reason: you state that your name is ***** and that you have never been known by another name. You have submitted a birth certificate which states that your name at birth was recorded as *****. I am satisfied that you have been previously known by another name and that you have not declared this in your application.

No right to appeal or Admin. review.
She made a mistake in not understanding that when u get married, she should have chosen yes to the question ''if you have been known by another name in the past''.

Question I how does she explain this in her future application and how soon can she reapply. Thanks guys.

Hi VO,
Is there any chance in the world that a US military personnel would invite his married and employed sister to witness his wedding and this visa application is denied despite having a letter of invitation and a wedding invite and also notifying the US consulate in Nigeria of his intention to invite his sister down to the US.

I am kind of confused.
