Thanks a lot

If you've been working since 2010, then go ahead and claim points for that. U can choose part-time for Msc if you kept working full time hours during your Msc.

It means you have the chances of getting an independent visa, 189 or others like 190 visa and 489 provisional visa. In that case your score determines which class of visa you can easily apply for.

This link might help.

My own little understanding. Your spouse may give you additional 5 points if he passes the skilled assessment in his profession and has at least competent in English (either academic or general training) and lastly if his skill in on the same list as your SOL or CSOL depending on the class of visa you require. However, the decision on whether he will take academic or general can only be made if you check the requirement of his assessing body. I understand for IT inclined people, ACS does not require English test but for accountants Academic version of English test is required. I trust this clarifies. You may not necessary need your spouse's skill assessment if you can achieve enough points from English test and work experience. Accounting is a very competitive profession and currently 70 points is needed for a class 189 visa.

If your spouse is in another profession that is less competitive and he has enough work experience, either of you or even both (diff EOIs) can be the principal applicant. Oga Bellong and other experts please correct me if I am wrong grin. I will suggest you go through this link to calculate your points and read more on the classes of visa. wink

In addition, this may help; You may need to pay more upon lodging your visa application if you cant prove that your spouse has at least functional English, whether through English test or previous studies in English language.

Functional English[i]

If your spouse or partner has less than functional English, then you would need to pay the "English Education Charge" to cover English language tuition in applying for skilled migration.
You can show you have functional English ability by providing evidence of one of the following:

Completion of a degree, higher degree, diploma or trade certificate that required at least 2 years of study in English medium
Completion of all years of primary education and at least 3 years of secondary education in English medium; or
Completion of at least 5 years of secondary education in English medium; or
Scoring at least 4.5 averaged over the four components of the IELTS test within the 12 months before application, or during processing; or
Completion in Australia of at least 1 year of full-time study or equivalent part-time study towards a degree, higher degree, diploma, or associate diploma in English medium.
In some circumstances, functional English can be established via interview
You can also demonstrate functional English by completing an English test and scoring as follows:

Test component Average across test components only
IELTS 4.5
TOEFL iBT 8
PTE Academic 30
OET n/a
Cambridge (CAE) 147

Please I still await your candid answers. Thanks

Bimpsy99:
Please still on this work experience matter. If you graduated with a Bsc in 2009, started work in 2010 till date. In 2013 got enrolled for a one year full time Msc which was not completed until 2015 due to project issues.

My question is can you claim work experience from 2010, Post Bsc graduation date? Also, will you exclude the years of doing masters which is a year but lingered for two years. of course you were working all along. How many years work experience can one safely claim.

Please note that the highest claim for education on the EOI is Masters. Thanks in anticipation.

This looks like an evaluation of HND.. Two or more certificates with one being a three year course..

Hello everyone,

I just got my ECA report from WES and here's my report:

CANADIAN EQUIVALENCY SUMMARY:
Diploma (two years), diploma (three years), and postgraduate
certificate (one year)

Using the CRS points calculator, what does this equate to on the level of education please?
I think you should consider using CPA as your ICAN membership may cover for the australian degree requirement once they verify your transcript details. Not sure of the work experience cos they will only regard an experience in a closely related ANZSCO. I wish all these assessing bodies offer advisory services.

I learnt that the first four numbers determine what they call closely related. Eg 2211 is for accountants and 2212 for auditors.. Can anyone please confirm this based on experience?

Wquote author=chidike post=48866867]

Sorry Bro, but I just want to use your issue as an advice to anyone using VETASSESS, try and use the advisory service first, if you do that you will know if your qualifications and work experience are relevant to the occupation you have chosen (I stand to be corrected). I have currently applied for the advisory service, it cost me about 40k. I think it is better to pay for advisory and be told that your qualifications do no match your occupation, then you can look for another occupation, than to pay almost 250k for assessment and wait for some months only to get a negative assessment. These are my thoughts, just what I think, I may be wrong. angiesteve someone i know who studied economics and is chartered (ICAN) but works with a BIG4 assessed using CPA as an accountant and is currently in Australia. In-fact he started the whole process in October last year and by January, he had gotten papers, but it was state nomination.
Speaking test may be on sat or Sunday before the written test. Please have an open mind and plan your way down to the venue before then. Na money matter o..

quote author=Omooloriredade post=48834436]Hello house. I am about to register for the IELTS. I picSept 24 but the issue is that of the speaking test which is usually scheduled within 7days before or after the actual exam date. I would only be available in the region (Ibadan) from the 18th of Sept. Is there a chance the speaking test won't fall exactly a week (17th) to the main exam date? 52k is a lot of money to throwaway my people.
Not done any assessment but I googled CPA and considering using them.. You can also check if they require student handbook. Not heard that before.

40manlappy:
Accountants in the house, please, which body is the best/most efficient among CPA, IPA and CA for assessment?

I read on CA's website that a university/college handbook should be provided...is there an alternative to this?

I wish I knew about IQAS all the while, I tried ICAS out and we have been on it since may. It takes 24 weeks according to them to get an ECA.
Please try out others, ICAS is definitely the slowest. sad

1stNumeroUno:
Thanks tundechange! Just goggled it, but wondering why ICAS is not as popular as IQAS and WES.

Still expecting your responses. Please help....

Bimpsy99:
Hello house. Please I am interested in doing the immigration exercise and I appreciate your contributions. I have two questions.

Has anyone tried to evaluate its credentials for teaching position. I noticed they required one ITE initial Teachers Evaluation which is different from Degree.. Do you have an idea of how one can get it in Nigeria.

Secondly.. HND in Accounting plus ACCA or ICAN. How many points can I get?

Thanks for your response
