Hi CPA and other accountant assessing bodies will accept your ACCA membership and equate it to bsc. That way u may not need the MBA assessed since it doesn't confer additional points. Please note that your relevant work experience (for points sake) can only start counting from the date u became an ACCA member (not affiliate) because your Bsc in Agric isn't relevant in this regard but you may still want to submit it. You can consider your best option and what other assessing bodies your MBA will be most beneficial cos Accountant is highly competitive. You may need to have 20 points in English to be better positioned. All the best. teefinix: If I submit and assess my agric degree..i definitely wont ve any work experience to support it as all my 10yrs experiences are in banking....will my MBA degree alone be sufficient to use as a qualification?..all the assessing authorities dont assess professional qualifications..if not i would ve my ACCA certificate assessed too.pls anyone in finance field should advice...will my MBA degree be enof to proceed as accountant (general) |

WES asesses ACCA as equivalent to Canadian BSC. You can add your MBA to it for better scores. Depending on what occupation you want to nominate teefinix: I have written ielts but my problem is knowing whc occupation to nominate. I be degree in agric econs ,MBA and a professional qualification in accounting (ACCA). I be 10yrs experience in banking. I am considering nominating financial mgrs....but if my btech agric and MBA is assessed...do I be a good chance of good report?....as most of the designated authouriries do no assess professional certifications. Also how do one assess ones experience? I really need advise.....thanks |

hahaha.. welcome to my PTE world . Ietls general is acceptable if you dont need academic for your skilled assessment. All the best catchdwind4rmkd: Thanks buddy. YES Chemical Engineer. Yeah Malkinburg did warn, but I never would think I'll be a victim. However, I think my challenge was I'm not a loud speaker, and taking the test in a room full of Indians, you're doomed if you can't shout coz those dudes are just loud that I felt disturbed. Of course if I want to repeat it's gotto be IELTS unless I'm placed alone in a room for the PTE. But bro, the problem is that, down here and at the moment, every dollar counts to my survival. So, I'm not willing to make another try unless situation calls for it; if state nomination proves to be taking longer.
Pls ALL, don't be discouraged by my Poor PTE score. I find the PTE to be easier and more comfortable than the IELTS. Apparently, my score didn't support my claim; I must have done something wrong. But since I can't identify what it is I did wrong, I'm just gonna stay clear, hahaaaa. |

Of course not. They have specifically stated what is accepted. Academic or nothing. unibadan: Hello house,
in assessing Accountants through CPA/CA, is IELTS general accepted? I can see on their website that they specifically stated it that they accept IELTS academic.
Kindly assist if someone can use IELTS general instead of the academic.
Thank you. |

deking: Wondering why it will be difficult? The main hurdle here is his ietls and his ECA. HND evaluated with WES puts him a little above BSC cos he will choose two or more certificate. Except his spouse is not doing the ietls or being evaluated for her credentials.
Your maximum score achievable for ietls is CLB 10 not 9 as prescribed earlier. I v boldened the CLB 10 figures .
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/language/charts.asp
My brother please calculate your maximum crs score yourself using the links on this forum. Its a cheaper route than schools. You dont have to use an agent cos na you go still write ietls, you can DIY.
P.S I just calculated for you assuming you are 30 by ITA and assuming you and your spouse have max English score, with your spouse having a BSC. You v 470 points
If your spouse even has 7 in all competencies you have 468 points. So it's more of you acing ietls than her.
If you have 8777 CLB 9 and your wife has 7777. You are on 456.
The choice is up to you bro, to quit or not. Remb English test is the game changer.
Once you can get above 400 you can position yourself for provincial nomination that comes up. But target getting higher. All the best
It would be pretty difficult but the following will ensure you get the maximum score achievable with IELTS for the express entry.
READING:8 LISTENING: 8.5 WRITING:7.5 SPEAKING:7.5

Hmmn.. Not sure u have to talk like oyinbo per se.. Just read fluently and dont do mmh, pause, repeat words and then the part that may have made me get the low score for reading is describing a graph and all sorts. You must be fast and spot on. In reading, time management is key cos you will see long passages on your screen and you have limited time. Before I knew it I was rushing to finish up, in fact the last two question I didn't even read through well I just selected something. There is also negative marking in the multiple choice questions. I can assure you from my experience that the computer didn't lie. My take on PTE is that you should master the tricks and trick the computer even though I wished I had at least 65 to even start my skilled assessment while I think of how to get 20 points in English. PTE may be the way to go if you have practiced and mastered the trick. I can't say its more difficult than ietls, you just must be smart. You can do it Bnimz: SHUOO!! Seems your speaking scores affected your reading scores... Which raises another question... This one wey be say na computer dey mark.. what kinda accent should we use to talk oo?? Make we dey rehearse am in advance.. Cos i'm absolutely sure default naija accent no go work... never been able to use voice commands cos my own computer doesn't understand me |

Hahaha.. You sure need to have a reasonable typing speed cos the timer will be in your face and that alone can destabilize you if you are not careful. Well I did the test as I see say my brother get 90 in each. E no pure.. Had 60 in speaking, 65 reading, 90 writing and 85 listening. It was my first time of being exposed to CBE. My advice is stick to what works for you once you can study ur area of competence. I had written ietls gt in the past n had a 7.5 average so this PTE may not have worked for me cos I maybe a better speaker in a face to face interview. Please don't get me wrong. The PTE A exam is more objective cos na computer go mark am. So if you are not fluent or fast enough its a negative point. You can't go back to proof read or correct your errors unlike paper based. Practice practice and practice so you can improve on your weakness as per PTE. You will be fine. Bnimz: I don come again.. you'll be seeing me a lot in the next few days o... Anyway.. where is that man that got 90... Yes, Chidike, show abeg.. And everyone else wey don do PTE-A
PTE-A Writing. I gat small headache about one thing. My typing speed is not fast o.. I have to look at the keyboard while typing. in short, I can write about two to three times faster than I can type...
how big a problem is this? How fast do I need to be? can someone with average typing speed still do well? |

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.aspUse the tool to calculate elothaddi: Good Day All and thank you all for your contributions. I just stumbled unto this topic/page yesterday night for the first time and this is exactly what one needs. The discussion (though am still on page 25 lol ) here have certainly helped me learn how to go about certain things/information with regards to Express entry and migration to Canada in general via PRP and Provincial.
My question to everyone (i don't want to start calling names so as to avoid not mentioning some names) is with regards SKILLS TRANSFERABILITY FACTORS (Maximum 100 points) UNDER Express Entry – Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) Criteria and how it is calculated. I have an MSC over 10 years experience as an engineer, IELTS result of L=7, R=6.5, W=6.5, S=7 ie CBL7. Thanks you all in advance for your responses. |

On ietls. Having an 8 in listening will make this result more rewarding. You may consider retaking the test to boost your score. Sorry I can't answer on WES as ICAS is similarly frustrating. Been on it since May and we are still at verification stage. To anyone yet to do his ECA, ICAS is a No! No!! Try other recognised bodies. opobutu: Hello house,
I plan to migrate to canada through the Fsw and i have done ielts with an overal score of 7 Listening 6 speaking 8 Reading-7 Writing -7
I have also applied through wes for my certificate to be verified since Aug 1st. The status has been showing verification from the school. The school insist that they have not received anything from Wes. Kindly advise what to do and also if i need to rewrite my ielts. I am single with 6 years working experience as an accountant. and will be 30 by next year. |

Well I guess no one can assure you than yourself. If you take a look at the previous rounds since it started you will see that even lower scores were selected. Please stay hopeful and position yourself in the pool cos it can happen sooner than you think. agates: Hello everyone, i have read through the thread and gotten detailed information on the application process. However, i have few concerns, i calculated my CRS score to be 472, however i noticed the last set of people who have gotten ITA in the last few months got scores of over 500 and most provincial nomination programmes are closed. What assurance do i have of getting an ITA with a score of 472. Thanks |

You may need to contact the bank. I am aware that some banks like Stanbic have notified the customers this week of a limit to online international transactions to $200/day effective today. Please keep us updated on the way forward as I am also interested. Thanks God bless Naija. living2k: I am using my current account. I used my gtb card but it was declined |

Sorry about that. Not sure of why they did that but I it maybe because you got exemptions and they can see from the number of courses in your transcript. Your Bsc accounting should be sufficient to claim points but you may not be able to claim two or more certificates. You may inquire from WES and get their basis. Gymme: Since it is stated in the remarks, i'm not sure it would be considered an equivalent Canadian degree. You could email WES to inquire if they allow such after evaluation. |

Thanks. Can I evaluate just ACCA with WES? ICAS is delaying my post secondary evaluation so I am looking for a cheaper and faster alternative. Bumdesh: Hi u don't need WAEC for ACCA. WES evaluates it as a 4 year BSC degree in Accounting equivalent to an Canadian BSC degree in Accounting.
Only send a copy of ur ACCA certificate ( along with other post secondary certificates e.g BSC, MSc) and send an email to ACCA to send ur transcript to WES put the address in the email and ur WES reference number ( gotten after paying WES evaluation fee) also contact ur universities to send ur transcript. Not sure that is correct.. I have read that it is equivalent of a Bsc. Maybe he assessed an IFRS diploma from ACCA and WES took it as post graduate diploma since he has a BSC. Kindly clarify. I understand that assessing ACCA certification with WES is seamless as you only have to pay for the assessment cost. ACCA communicates directly with them.
