khukhi: I'm watching a movie called the 1st grader which is bout an 84yr old ex Mai mai fighter who fights to get an education at the age of 80.These people would take an oath to fight the white mans regime until death. They would be captured and tortured and be forced to renounce the oath. A lot of them died instead of giving in. It just reminds of the sacrifices our elders went through for us to have the freedom that we have in this continent today.

I think we should always remember that. We should not allow the hatred and violence that collonialism has embedded in our society to thrive.

When you read through some of the posts here, you realise how disturbed we are as a people. If its not country against country, then its tribe against tribe...its out of hand.
bolded true....

alutacontinua: I think the way he wrote the write-up is not encouraging. He should put it in full paragraphs...makes it easier to read.

Back to topic, when my grandma was dying, i saw the way my mum took care of her, it wasn't easy for her but she did it out of love for her mother. As far as my parents are concerned, when the time comes, i'll do anything for them that needs to be done. I can't say for other people sha oo, cos the only propelling force to do that kind of thing is deep-rooted love and care.
Nice post aluta.. The key word being love and care

IYA DELE: Aww, pele omo mi. Sorry, ehn? That your headmaster is wicked oo. Doesn't he know how hard it is to get 10000 naira in this present Nigerian economy? Sorry my dear. There is no harm in you staying at home for a while. You can even use that time to rest till your father gets money. Okay? (Dele nods quickly).

IYA DELE: you can even stroll with me to farm tomorrow, okay? That's how you become a very strong man.(Dele nods.)

IYA KUNLE: Ah, Iya Dele, e kasan.
It's very true that many south africans hate nigerians not only because of some few bad eggs living there-may be it is-but drawing conclusions that all nigerians are bad is just unfair. Why would someone say something like "if you know you're a nigerian, don't say hi" on a social media? Prof. Wole Soyinka was detained in south africa sometime ago. Is he also a bad guy? I don't see a south african of equal status with the professor being detained like that in nigeria. We have bad guys from other countries here too but we don't see the rest of them as bad. The south africans feel threatened by nigerians. Period! I was very young during the aparthy against black african and i never thought they deserved it. I wished i could wipe out all those bastards then, but i feel disappointed knowing these same south africans don't feel the same way.
I love mandela, i love lucky dube, i love brenda and all my precious south african friends and no amount of hate shown towards nigerian by some bad as$ south africans will change that. But to be honest, nairaland will be boring without "word" wars between people here and don't want it to stop. I come online most of the time to entertain myself by reading the comments. People viewing and waka passing lol

This is a very sensitive topic which brings an issue that few like to deal with - Impending death
It brings into stark light the realisation that some of our pursuits inlife are futile

Back to topic... for my grand pa before he died, he had a carer who worked part tikme that the fathers got for him
Some of his sons did same cleaning for him too and my old man did same once in a while

I will not be ashamed to do same for my old man when he gets there

In the last edition, voting was discontinued before the time stated by the mod

Also use a standard convention like

VOTES CLOSE BY 1800/6pm GMT/UTC so that people can be aware rather than vague Nigerian Time

chioma134: Life's funny. Know a man who brought his daughter to the hospital,a 25yr old female. She was very anaemic and needed a blood transfusion. Father went to donate blood, and in the process it was discovered the girl was AB+ while father was O+,meaning he couldn't have fathered her. The man was too weak to talk.
YEPA!!!!!!

That will lead to pain and hate

CFCfan: @ Shymexx: According to the Daily Mail, Mourinho will be the new CFC manager on July 1. The paper calls the deal, "a done deal". Mourinho will reportedly earn 10 million GBP ($18 million)/year; while CFC will pay the release fee of 12 million pounds to Madrid, for his services.

CAMEROONPRIDE: Wish u the same x1000 may your husband cheat on you and give you Aids when you refuse him sex. Go read some psychology or ask marriage counselors.they will tell u in marriage you don't mess with sex.period
Agree you dont mess with the conjugal duties in marriage but in pregnancy things get different
It does not justify you using it as an excuse to have an affair.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Feminism - Why Women In General (especially Black Women) Have Been Duped By It!! by biolabee(m): 11:52pm On May 04, 2013
where is your proof and statistic?
as far as I know feminists tend to have higher marriage rates. they also tend to be more educated and have degrees.
educated women have higher marriage rates in general. so that may be the reason.
educated women also tend to be feminists or have feminist sympathies.
I dont have facts to back that up at the moment but feminism has generally been associated with s.exual freedoms so i will find it interesting that feminists have high marriage rates

coogar: ask simbiat abiola(MKO's first wife)
it was in her house abiola first ate "white rice". go and read his autobiography. whatever abiola became later was through her influence and she supported abiola having as many wives and as many babymommas his sëxual appetite could handle.
Granted.. Simbiat is a major exception
Moreover her son, Kola has cornered the common wealth
He does not give a damn abt his fathers other seed

She was just a nice woman or pretended to support Moshood's ways

ileobatojo: Is this a true story? Very unlikely that it will take 7 yrs for an SS person to show signs of it.

As for the woman, you want us to advice her? Lol! You've got jokes!!

I just hope this mother won't strangle the poor girl one day after she gets kicked out. She's wishing for her child to die so her husband doesn't find out? After deceiving the man so gravely for 7 yrs? What a witch!
I agree because the crisis shd have come up earlier on average

If this is true;
Implicit in the story is an acceptance she has a dark secret
Tragic but its not new under the sun really

She has to find her way round this and be prepared for the worst

He will find out one way or the other

coogar: there's no dilly-dallying here.....
managing wives shouldn't be a big task for men who head conglomerates with 20-150 staff members working under them.
Thats what its about.. A money matter

A poor man will manage with monogamy while a polygamic poor man has his essential expenditure doubled

coogar: "little" johnny is the only reason men live....
so what you consider little is not really little. if you want to hurt any man, speak ill of his johnny and watch him snarl at you.

men don't live long? says who?
the reason men don't live long has nothing to do with polying. there are various other factors. men actually lived long when polygamy was the fad. moses, abraham, jacob, david, etc all spent about 150 years each before they gave up the ghost!
Maybe that was then... with economic realities as they are
A poor man will die with polygamy

all4naija: Did you see where SA got it all wrong why carrying that puffiness around? They tend to blame others of their crimes and attack innocent people on the streets. You must agree with me there is element of harm in SA aura of puffiness. That is a negativity in this whole argument. Just imagine the topic we are addressing.
I agree with you on that, no innocent person should be attacked whether Nigerian, Zimbabwean, somalian etc and i agree that there are some xenophobic ppl out there who attack ppl just because they are foreigners. But like i said crime is a big problem in Sa. We are all getting affected by it. This incident is not the first of its kind. The same thing happened to a German couple and a SOuth african couple. I guess when you are a foreigner you are an easier target and i still have a funny feeling that their driver was involved somehow.
