Lmao! See as I laugh for here u r just something. The highlighted gat mi rolling....u for face AC o As per ladyguinivere...u think say na small thing make me carry her matter for head when one lady funto wan mess with am? Gat mad respect for her, not sure i can ever get her kinda patience, no be say Nairaland dey pay her na...so she's not obligated to answer anybody. Na why I dey call am mi rolesmodel be that. You are one funny preggie dou ...can't get ur words outta mi head. Nnystc:
Even plus including Empire and Game of thrones and OITNB...
Dear Lady G, I don't know you from H'adam, not to talk of H'eve. But since its Saturday morning, and I have free time (no office work pursuing someborry, and a few minutes till the kids wake up and pile into my peaceful room... and wake up my sleeping foetus!)...
I say make I hail you oh! The way you dey take time respond to almost all posts here na wah o! Even the questions that a patient person will see and go "Negodu!...mtchewww" , you will take time and respond, even if only to tell the enquirer to look well, or think it through!
I was even asking myself the other day when I saw your response on one question ... abi she get speech-to-text on her phone? Nor be the same finger-typing all of us dey use?
Anyway, I have come to conclude that its just you, wanting to guide, wanting to share, wanting to change the Naija mindset of thinking that nothing can sail through unless you sprinkle in a little lie or dishonesty, and passionate about it too (Even though our people nor dey like read sha, even where expo full ground!).
And so I salute you and the others who take time to respond to questions, and guide, encourage and set the records straight... So may God grant your brains and fingers extra anointing, and your patience extra elasticity in Jesus Name. Keep doing what y'all do. These threads (1-4) are God-sent and DO help, and yours (and others) sage advise contributes wella... (Even me wey don go 2 times for this journey, I still dey learn something!)
And now, let me put in my own questions... Nor laugh me o...
- What are my chances of being approved for a visa if I book a Saturday or Sunday interview? - Why are Houston and Chicago troublesome POEs? What are my chances of scaling through them if I carry biology textbook along...? - How should I greet CBP at POE? Should I say Gd morning, or Hi or Otutu Oma? - If I want twin boys should my head face window or door when meeting my hubby? - Should I wear dress or trouser when travelling to US for the first time? -......
Make I stop here. I can already hear the kids coming in 5-4-3-2-1..... |

Pele...congrats dear, God bless ur LO immensely cutelass: Guess I've rested enough. Here's my story. About 10 days before my travel date, swelling on my legs which had always been minimal increased so much. Even after raising the legs up at night, the moment my feet touches ground in the morning the swelling returns. 3 days before my travel, I used the home bp monitor to check my bp and it was ranging btw 140/80 and 145/85. I immediately drove to hospital. Nurse on duty checked with the manual bp monitor and another young dr checked and it was still high. They had to call my consultant. He ordered they check my urine for protein and nothing came up...he eventually came himself, checked the bp and said it was normal.
3 days later I travelled with Lufthansa on a united ticket at 34 weeks + some days. Requested for wheelchair and they said since I brought fit to fly I can't use wheel chair. I was shocked cos several pple here have used wheelchair. They agreed to book for my mum cos of her arthritis yet we didn't see any wheelchair neither at Frankfurt nor LAX. We flew to Frankfurt and had a 4 hrs layover b4 we flew to LAX. All the while, my mum was so worried about the swelling.
POE was a breeze. Cbp: what are you here for? Me: childbirth Cbp: ok. How long are u here for? Me: 2 months Cbp: sorry, what did u say u are here for again? Me: childbirth, delivery, to have my baby (lol...that's d type of confidence saying the truth at the embassy gives u) Took our finger prints and stamps us in for 6 months.
We went to agriculture...the officer was busy shouting to the guy scanning the bags...Nigeria, Nigeria, lol...our bags were scanned but we weren't asked to open it.
When we got to my aunty's house...the legs had tripled in size and she insisted I see the dr immediately ( my appt wasn't till another 4 days). We called his office and luckily he was still around...said they close at 5pm. It was already 4pm...so without eating or anything...they drove us to the dr office. My relations went in to greet him (they had known him for a long time) I had no idea, while I filled out the forms. When I saw the dr, my bp had shot up to 159/100. He told me point blank to head straight to the hospital as I had developed pre-eclampsia and baby had to be induced immediately. He said the financial dept would have closed for the day and they don't open weekends...so we had only the next day to pay and sign the contract...cos if I deliver without signing it...I would be left with a bill of over $40k. Got to the hospital and was admitted. Was placed on magnesium IV to prevent seizure...while they ran tests...the same ones I would have done with the doctor's office.
Next day my mum sorted the bills...while they brought the papers for me to fill...despite the induction starting Thursday night...i didn't deliver till almost mid day Saturday...cervix no gree dilate till...was almost heading to OR for c-section b4 LO came forth...I hadn't eaten in almost 48 hrs...day said no food, no water...was just allowed to chew ice...where the strength to push came from...I don't know.
The main testimony is that LO didn't need to go to NICU...was almost peeing in my pant when the thought of it came to my mind...cos of bills...she was just in the nursery...they did hearing test...checked for jaundice...was later discharged. LO is 3 weeks old currently.
Used st Francis medical center and dr. Mb---u. Hospital bill $2700 for vag. Delivery (includes paediatrician, epidural (the thing wore off towards the actual delivery). Stayed an extra day which cost $900 (covers both me and baby). Hospital gives free stroller. I've gotten zero balance.
Dr fees had always been 1500 and 2500 for vag and csection respectively. When I got here...saw it was now 1000 and 1300...was told the dr considered the current economic situation in Nigeria and decided to slash his self-pay fees. Hmmm...Angels still dey dis earth Shaa.
Since baby came early, wanted to shift my date but United wants an arm and a leg just to change date...I'm chilling (mum is here with me, hubby is coming, wonderful host...no need to run home) |

Hey dear I think you need to follow me or so as per the pms and No i didn't go with any admission letter. Went with a letter the hospital scanned to me. I don't know anything about ur hospital dear. All needed and requested for form A are: 1. Reference letter from Naija introducing you briefly, I shared a template here, u can go thru my posts 2. Letter from the hospital/invoice signed and addressed to u 3. Visa page 4. Ticket 5. Passport/Data page. I intend using Oakbend and I took their Ob package form, scanned letter as registered and above listed docs. Should u require further assistance, do get in touch. All the best. newmomma2be: Hi Biollar1,
I wanted to ask you about Form A @ Stanbic. I was there yesterday and was asked for 'admission letter' and invoice from the hospital. The staff explained that the admission letter indicates that the hospital has booked you.
I don't have such letter, I only have a price estimate (invoice) from them (North side hospital, Atlanta). Do you have such letter from your hospital or do you think Doctor's appointment letter will suffice?
And no, I didn't get any of your PMs.
Thank you |

Congrats MommaT.... May the rest of your journey be smooth as dis too. MommaT: It's my first time posting on NL, not sure if I'm doing that correctly but hopefully so. In the spirit of giving back , here's my story:
I first want to thank everyone for the info here, it's helped me since I started following in Feb although as a guest. I had a regular B1/B2 visa, needed to renew in March via dropbox as I was preggy, so I chose medical after reading some stories here, i did not want to misrepresent at all . By God's favour it was ready in 4 days, no interview required.
Started my hospital search earlier so had doctor and hospital info, but they won't accept wire transfer or even give an estimated bill we can process form A with, frustrated with that at the moment.... Booked my ticket with Air france to Newark, New Jersey, and armed with 'burden of proof' as I have read here, I asked God for favour. I arrived Newark on April 28th and was waiting on the regular queue when the last few passengers were moved to the other side where US nationals are. I had approximately 8k cash as I got 4k PTA from UBA and some other cash in lieu of mom's PTA when she's coming. Also had money on my card and had my brother's BOA card with about $3k Here's what transpired when I was called:
Me: Hello Cbp: Hello how are you doing? Me: good Cbp: (takes passport and asks me to put my 4 fingers) what are you here for Me: to have my baby Cbp laughs and asks me to take look in the camera), how long are you here for? Me: can i smile at the camera? 11 weeks Cbp: ( laughs)if you want to , oh then after birth, you're staying back how long Me: that's included in the 11 weeks as I have to resume back to work, and I have just 3 months mat leave Cbp: Ok, let me just confirm from secondary inspection if they need you to sign anything, (tries to get their ext from colleagues but noone had it so he leaves his cubicle), comes back in abt 2 mins and rings them up. At this point when I heard secondary inspection I'm like oh no! but because i also had the 'burden of proof', I wasn't so bothered about it. I'm like whatever! Cbp: (while on the phone with secondary inspection) are you paying? Me: Yes Cbp: ( still on the phone) do you have anything to prove this Me: Yes Cbp: (drops the phone) ok let me see the proof Me: (started to bring out the documents and the first I saw was the anesthesia details as sent to me by the doctors office, and hand it over to him), that's from the doctors office Cbp: is that from the doctor here Me:yes, (and I was about to show other documents from the doctor, although really I did not have any proof asides the cash with me, since I had not made any payment) Cbp: not to worry, this is fine, enjoy your stay Stamps me in for 6 months Me :thank you!
Off to agriculture, I declared I had food, so was asked what I had, told them noodles, lentils, he asks what type of noodles, is it Maggi said I'm not sure, (really don't know what I bought and dint want to look like I lied if that's what they meant, ) but they can check it. He said what of ogbonna, egusi, gala, suya, I just burst into laughter, and he was laughing too, I said how did you know naija food, he said that's what people bring in, I'm like I don't eat them so dint bring them, I love fruits and veg and you have them in abundance here so no need! He's like ok let's see your noodles, which of the bags, said im not sure which of them, and he said we'll pass the bags through the machine, and they did, nothing was seized. It wasn't until I got home I remembered I even had Maggi for my hosts ooo. |

Make I no go get BP, thou my case is quite diff dou, the visa was used for the original purpose of obtaining it. But fear na fear and I can't shout. Thanks once again dear. happytbaby: Lady G. Left to me, if visa was not obtained for childbirth, I would rather the intending mum travels before mother goes for interview or she just says she is going for vacation with her daughter. |

@biollar1 I'm using Northside, ATL. Stanbic was for PTA, they said PTA e yaff finish, everybady go home
@chloe7 That GTBank really has it's head stuck up its arse! It's only their smooth internet banking that still has me banking with them. Trying FCMB already, the DH will explore Zenith as well. Any anyhow, cheap forex must show!!

Ehyaaaa...what reason did Stanbic give? Which hospital r u using? passionantchica: GTB is really very very useless! Mtcheww. Stanbic failed us about 2 weeks ago so we didn't bother with them this time. Traveling tomorrow, but DH has re-applied with FCMB where they have no issues with the letter from the hospital, and where they value his account more. So we're hoping for the best.
E really pain me cos PTA was my mum's and I, so 8k just passed us by like that.
Thanks jare. All will end well. |

Awwww...try Stanbic dear or u travelling dis week? Even if u r travelling dis week, u can still do form A via stanbic( they r very fast) and wud accept ur reference letter. Can also be don when u r over dere sef Where do u intend to birth and how soon r u traveling? GTB is just a useless bank. passionantchica: I'm telling you, this struggle is real. I didn't get PTA, and my Form A payment didn't go through- thanks to GTBank and their blaaddy requirements. They requested for a letter of 'referral' from my hospital stating they cannot handle my case and have to 'refer' me to the Yankee hospital, but my hospital sent a letter of introduction so the Form A wasn't approved.
Me and black market are staring each other in the face now. God dey. |
