Congrats ....May the rest of your journey be as smooth as ur POEs. All the best freshfarid: My people, Na so I waka enter Houston via Emirates @ 35+ weeks. Emirates can ask for fit 2 fly o. At every stage, even when I was about to board, they asked and that was way after check in. During the check in, they didn't ask me for my fit to fly until it was my time to check in, they were now wasting my time and made me stand unnecessarily, d lady was going from 1 place to d other asking to be sure if I wasn't past 36 weeks saying my letter didn't state exactly how many days after 35 wks I was. I had the print out from their website and also the one from the hospital. It was the one from my hospital they collected. My flight with emirates was cool, I had a row of 4 seats to myself so I could lie down. No swollen feet, no compression socks. Nice plane. Food wasn't bad. Fit to fly was asked for again in dubai Now to Houton POE, there was a long Q, didn't use wheel chair. When I was in front of d CBP, na so the computer nor gree answer. He now said the ntwk was down. Was there for like 30 mins. Had to lean on something. CBP: why r u here? Me: to have my baby CBP: so you are going to elpaso Me: yes CBP: have u had a baby here b4 Me: yes CBP: just stand behind d counter someone will be with u shortly Me: ok - I don know say na secondary inspection be that. I prayed I was there for about 25 minutes b4 I was called. CBP: y r u here this time around Me: to have my baby CBP: how many kids to you have Me: 2 and the 3rd is on its way CBP: did you have the other kids here? Me: my last child. Yes CBP: how much do u have Me: 4k - gotten from life saving stanbic ibtc CBP: but you know 4k can't be enof Me: yes, I have pre paid some CBP: can I see your receipts Me: yes and passes it to him CBP: ok, i'll get u out of here in a few minutes Me: thank you And I was out of there in a few minutes. All d docs I took to my drop box interview was all I took. And it was only the prepayment receipt he checked. I prepaid doc fees for doctoresparati tru stanbic form A and will pay hospital fees this coming wk with the help of my hubby via same means. I was stamped in till September. Chilling in houston with my host resting from the loong emirates trip for onward movement to elpaso next week. Toodles |

Thank God oo Ye2ndearisto: Fellow country women . I just left doc DG Ohio office and I asked him about the new rate at oakbend . He said everyone he quoted the new rate to before March 1st still get to pay the old rate he gave you . That anyone from 1st of March will pay the new rate and that is why anyone sending him correspondence from 1st March he hasn't responded because he's trying to sort for cheaper hospitals around and also get oak bend to review the prices . Immediately I went to oakbend and I told them I am an old patient of dr Fagbohun , and they took $2300 cash from me . I suspect he has sent the names of his patient before 1st March to them . Thank you |

See wetin dis banks cause o....I for don finish with dis Form A Isshhh since. *sigh* IjayMama: Regarding paying a lot for water, I stopped by a coffee shop and begged for a lil hot water to make my toddlers cereal & I was told I had to pay even as i mentioned it's for a baby. Sadly d water I had in her flask had gone cold so i had no choice but to pay $3 for a few drops of hot water. I felt pained! But hey, dis is America!
And for Oakbend patients, hospital bill has just been increased from $2300 to $3200.Went for my Dr's visit today & wanted to pay for my cousin when I was informed. The price increase don't affect patients who were given d old rate & have pd. These guys don't know how every $$ means a lot to all Naija mamas. May God help us. |

Found it for ya Here's her post: mrsbw: okay guys..wanted to wait to be debited before confirming the Form A stuff. I intend using Dr La and WHMC. WHMC does not accept wire transfers, so I got Dr La's wire transfer details. I went to Stanbic IBTC on Thursday for the processing. Documents required: a) Letter of reference from specialist doctor, or specialist hospital in Nigeria - b) Completed Form A c) Passport, visa and air ticket d) Correspondence with overseas specialist doctor stating the cost of treatment etc. Filled the form; requested for payment of doctors fees only (paid $3,000) and included my doctor's bank details. The requirement doesn't state just hospitals can be credited. It only states that it must be for medical treatment. So, I guess if you can provide your doctors correspondence (with his letterhead) and they can match it to the bank details. I guess they can also check the doctor online if they want. Got debited the ffg this morning: Transaction: 598500; telex charge: 4000; offshore charge: $25 = 4987.50; Bank commission 0.5% = 3142.13 Total was 610629.6 which came to about N203.5 per $. So you can actually pay for just doctor or doctor and hospital if your hospital accepts transfers. Noticed in the CBN requirement page that if the doctor includes cost of maintenance, that cost of treatment can be made payable to the hospital and the cost of maintenance to the applicant if the applicant is an outpatient; but I did not explore that oh. Only paid doctor's bill. Also, I had initially gone to UBA and they said they dont process Form A for childbirth. GTB said I'll be on a wait list for at least a month. Went to stanbic after @onlineise post on Wednesday, and it got processed in 48hours. Thanks so much @onlineise you are a life saver! Pls remember to collect your telex copy from the bank as proof of payment Hope this helps cc: @biollar1 @chloe7 @kemo88 @beautyx5 Cobiss: Thank you so much. Will check it out. |

Left Lagos via BA and requested for wheel chair service, at BA stand I wasn't asked for fit to fly.
The lady that wheeled me to the depature asked if I was pregnant and I said yes. She asked for my fit to fly and I gave it to her, the next thing she said was I hope you don't give birth in the plane because your are leaving at 35 weeks; I replied immediately, God forbid. I will not birth in the plane.
We got to London and it was all good.
We connected our Flight to Houston after 3 hrs layover.
Before landing in Houston, my mom and i prayed a prayer of agreement and i felt peace immediately. Got to Houston at 2:15pm.
God of wonders, God that never fails, Awesome redeemer I saluate your majesty.
Was wheeled to CBP. I greeted but no response.
He asked for our passports and I handed it over to him.
He asked me to place my fingers on the scanner and then the picture.
Immediately, he said am sending them back.
I don't know what he saw, I don't know what happened, I was moved wheeled forward and he was to scan my mom, then he asked who is bla bla bla... I said I am, he said Oh no! I have made a mistake. He immediately radioed some people and said they should please send a manager to him.
When the manager came, he enquired what the problem was, he said he made a mistake and the manager asked ain't we sending them back. He said No, I made a big mistake.
He re-scanned me and stamped me in 6 months, scanned my mom and my daughter and said Sorry about the mistake. Welcome to America.
My fellow mamas, no document was asked, my purpose wasn't even asked, nothing at all.
The devil stuck out his ugly head but God cut it off.
I am presently in my host''s place. Waiting for my appointment tomorrow with Dr. Ezekiel.
Praise be to God.

Congrats dear.... May the rest of ur story be fruitful as well. Abefeokin: Hello mamas n papas ,mommas2bes , wiffy2bes ,monitoring spirits . My full blast xperience from lagos to dallas goes thus: I av overstressed myself that day b4 my travel time so after packing and all set to go, I started vomiting and shivering around 8:30pm(flight was still 11:55pm), my cuz said ah dis is bad o not a good sign et Al but I was determined anyway to forge ahead. My hubby was so worried and he has to force me to see my doctor. He told him I was good to go that it's stress havin drove earlier the day for hours, ffwd to the airport immigration didn't check my bags so I just checked in my luggages, one stupid lady was @d check in all frown and rude to my hubby just because he wanted to help me check the bags in( she regretted it though cos I gave her HOT ) another lady @ d counter(her superior I guess) just attended to us all thru no fit to fly was asked for even though I looked so tired and big. All dis was going to 11pm so at last I felt I should eat something b4 going on board, we got to kilimanjaro but they've closed so we walked out back to arrivals anyways after eating, was wheeled to my flight(hubby couldn't stop laffing @me) the hostesses were nice I was given preferential treatment maybe cos I was the only preggy on board. 6hours later we were at Paris, an hour later, I connected to Delta, there was one winch hostess among them she wasn't nice @all but me sef no get her time 9hrs later we were at ATL, my heart kept skipping but I continued praying and hoping for the best. The POE was a breeze! I spent 2mins infront of the CBD officer, str8 to agric my ponmo, knorr was seized. Checked my bags in to connect my nxt flight. One nice and beautiful aged woman helped me carry my baggage and baby to T3, asked if I need anything else but I told her I'm alright. I checked in to my next flight nd I booked wheelchair again cos I was tired, while waiting,I used the airport WiFi to call my hubby and chat with my sisters. Ffwd to Dallas wheelchair waiting for me and was wheeled to baggage claim. Alas! My bags has bn forced open , I jejeli carried them and went to take cab to my destination. On gettn home, so many things were taken eg 10 attachments,4 bonny weave on, palm oil, coconut oil, 3 Ola Ola poundo yam, fried meat etc that person must be a real thief. Anyways all that matters is that I got here safely with no wahala. Starting my appointment next week already started shopping cuz Burlington is doing clearance sales. I thank everyone that took their time out to share their xprience. God bless u and I'm hoping and praying to come back to share my delivery story. Let me use this opportunity to pray for those searching for the fruit of the womb, May the Almighty bless you with good seeds that will blossom into very good fruits and to us mothers, May God preserve our children and make us reap the fruits in good health. God bless Nigeria, God bless America. Ciao ciao |

Congrats dear We were so worried about you. May the rest of ur journey be fruitful and positive as well. emeriem: Currently in NY , my flight was very smooth. Im so grateful to God. POE was ATL . I was only asked if i have contacted a doctor and how i intend to pay. The question even came after i have been stamped 6 months. He further asked why i allow my daughter who has a green card stay out of the US for too long. Had a little issue with secondary inspection though ... they seized my 2 tubers of yam, indomie noodles and knorr chicken cubes. They warned me that i would be fined $300 the third time(this is the second time) i bring such items into the US. I will be very careful now.
Please beware of Zenith bank cards, I was charged N398+ per dollar today via pos. I'm so angry right now. |

Wow! It is well! May God see u thru. Houston POE na real war o. Pele emeldamicheals: Hmmmmm, where do I start? Firstly, @ Zumabeezi (sorry if I got that wrong). Thanks for noticing. I appreciate. As for my PTA, I no get oooo after all the hussle. I changed money with BDC @ 354. Before leaving I asked a custom relative who told me we are only entitled to 5k now per person. So me and mum 10k. Immigration officer in Abuja: How much do you have? Me: 10k. Is dat all Me: yes Actually, we had 10,096.30 Declared it with my complementary card. Lufthansa sent me to Port Health. Where I paid 3k only for her to write everything my doctor wrote down in her own except she had to write 34 weeks instead 35weeks + my doctor wrote for me. I left naija on thurs via lufthansa with mum and kids and got to Houston on friday afternoon. It was not an easy one at all. Over stressful. I booked for wheel chair which wheeled me to immigration officer. Officer: Why are u visiting? Me: Child birth and Holidays Officer: Put in Finger prints.... Officer: Which tourist attractions will you be visiting. He did not notice I was pregnant cos I was carrying one kid with my carry on bag on the wheel car. Me: Am here for child birth Officer: How much do you have? Me: 10k Calls an officer and sends me to secondary inspection Thats where the saga begins......... The officer woman... Why are you on a wheel chair. Can't you walk? Me: I can Officer woman: Asks my mum. Why are on wheel chair too. Is anything wrong with you? We requested for two. Me and mum. Mum: No Officer woman: Tells the wheelers wheeling us to leave us and go. Wheeler: They have a connecting flight to elpaso to catch in 3 hrs. Officer woman: So what....? Officer woman: How much do u hv on u. Me: 10k Officer woman: How did you get it? Me: BDC Officer woman: let me have your doctor's letter and fit to fly. Which I gave her. Wheelers leaves us behind. So we had to sit down. There were lots of people in Sec Inspection but didnt see any preggo while I was there. The waiting no be small things... Another officer: Calls mum and interviewed her. Like how much she had and how much I had. My mum had only little money on her plus little naira. Asked who my kids were? Why I decided to birth In elpaso of all places. Mum said it was my choice. Mum: Comes back. Sits and tried to tell me the things they asked her. An officer noticed and doesn't want us to communicate. Takes my mum to a seat behind and takes me and my kids to another room where they have play toys with a bed. An officer comes to ask what we need. I said I was okay but he brings 2 packs of juice and mac and cheese for the kids. After a while..... An officer ushers me into the interviewing room Na there the main action film starts... Officer Man: How much do you have? Me: 10k Officer: Are u sure u have up to that amount: Me: Yes Officer: Lets see. Counts and indeed complete. Officer: Do u have another currency with you. Me: Brings out 1,300 naira in my wallet. Officer: You declared u did not have more than 10k. U lied. I told him that the 1,300 was insignificant to me. I didn't know it meant anything. Hmmmm, strike 1 for me Officer: Starts asking me plenty questions. I can't write it all. Will mention a few. What I do? How much I earn? What DH does? How much he earns? What kind of car I drive? How much is our house rent? How much I had in all bank acc. Goes through all the visa's in my passport. U hv travelled alot. I said yes. Also, asked the POE I used the last time I visited US. I said New York. Asked me to write down some stuffs like address in naija, address of hotel I will stay in US, my parents names, kids names and dh name and some details about them. Officer: Did U and DH save for the trip. Me: No Officer: How did you get the 10k dollars? Me: Both me and DH's money but mostly DH's money. HIGHLIGHT: The officer woman took my phone from me which she went through. Watsapp, email, etc and some things were screen grabbed pertaining my trip and conversations about this trip and they asked me questions about it. They looked for every implicating thing on my phone. Officer asked me if I ever discussed about coming to give birth in US with anyone. OFFICER EVEN TOLD ME ABOUT NAIRA LAND. THAT THEY KNOW ABOUT IT. THAT THEY FOLLOW IT. He said something about us saying Houston is a tight POE. I told him I followed houston irrespective of that because I know I am coming genuinely to have my baby and I am willing to pay every dime. I almost thought I was about to be sent back with all the series of question. Thank God for burden of proof ( in cash form). After every every; officer says they will allow me to go in but I should make sure I pay all my bills. Get receipt and zero bal from doctor and hospital etc. I will show it everytime I visit. He said its not illegal to give birth but not when u come and not pay cos they the tax payers will have to pay for it which they can't do for their children. Also, I should make sure I read every document b4 signing cos medicare people would even come to you after you have your baby. He says you get barred from US etc when you don't pay. WELL, I know all that already and I will pay all my bills and I am prepared to do so. I LEFT AFTER 4 HRS AND I MISSED MY FLIGHT I could only be rescheduled the next day on united and it was not a direct flight. I went through denver. I couldn't check into intown suites agin cos we got into elpaso at 10pm on sat and their office has closed and was told they dont open on sundays. So we paid for 2 nights at a hotel. The airport shuttle picked us up and they give free breakfast. So will check into Intown suites tomorrow. IF YOU ASK ME SINCERITY PAYS COS WHAT WILL BE WILL BE... THANKS TO EVERYONE THAT ANSWERED MY QUESTIONS WITHOUT CRITICISM AND SARCASM. Also, to all nairalanders cos your information here helped alot. |

Kemo88: Hi everyone, How's everyone doing? While reading through the thread I noticed some people mentioned sending money directly to an American account and the bank with do that at the CBN rate. May be I'm not getting it right hence my confusion. How does this work? Is this what the form A is about? Can someone shed some light on this? I thought you have to put the dollars (you got by yourself) in your domicilliary account before you can send it to the US. No dear. A situation where your bank credits the hospital/school on your behalf while debiting your Naira account is tagged Form A. It has nothing to do with your dorm account or u physically paying in the $s. It's an instruction from you telling your bank to do so on ur behalf. By doing this u get to benefit at the official CBN rate. |

Many thanks ZillyO: It depends on the bank, some banks will want to see a letter from a Naija doctor stating what is wrong with you and referring you, then the one from doctor abroad accepting you plus his invoice showing what it will cost you. But I think diamond bank is simple, just the invoice from the hospital bearing your name and amount, you fill a form A and give them authority to debit your account for Naira equivalent. Form A typically means accessing FGN money and you need to show genuine proof to gain access, the Bank will bid for you and pay on your behalf to the hospital. But always remember to ask for telex copy, that's your proof of payment and might be useful at POE |

Please share via email balogunabiola@gmail.com Sent u a pm already dou. Thanks allen0000: Justwise I cannot indirectly advertise for the Hospital. The hospital is a teaching hospital, there is nothing like referrals or advertisement, moreover the hospital don't give correspondence both email or phone..... I respect your rules and cannot go against it, just want to help those mamas on low budget as we are porting to US to achieve one goal. I have tried, tested and have confirmed , so i believe it is good to help someone else but i still respect your rules. |

Hi dear, Please share d hospital u used in El Paso. Don't mind porting to El Paso because of dis dollar wahala. ZillyO: For El Paso peeps....i was able to pay all, both Dr and Hospital through form A. Saves a lot of headache, you now know that what you have is for other expenses. Good thing is that if you don't eventually use them you will get a refund |
