From your response, I guess I'll focus on the 2010 models new or fairly used since the difference with 2008 models is just 300k-400k. I hope the prices are negotiable though. The brand new 2010 Jetta seems to be on the high side. I thought it would be less. I think I like the brand new civic 2010 (3.3 - 3.4M) and fairly used Jetta 2010(3.2-3.3M).

Regarding your preference for Toyota, you didn't really give any reason except that you are a fan. Auto websites have given the Jetta and Civic great reviews against the Corolla. I'll keep you posted though and hopefully if your prices are preferrable I might be going for the Civic or the Jetta from you. Many thanks and expect my call some time soon.

After being at the mercy of my 406 for a couple of months now, I have decided to go for the most basic model of a brand new 2010 car. I am currently considering Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, and Volkswagen Jetta because they seem to be within my budget. Can anyone kindly recommend which is best and why? Also, I'd like answers to the 4 questions that follow:

1. Brand new or 'fairly' used?
2. Where to buy?
3. American specs or European specs or Asian specs
4. Price

Regarding buying another Tokunbo, unfortunately I know very little about cars and I don't have a mechanic I trust.  So how can I know for sure that a Tokunbo car would not have hidden problems and start eating my money all over again?  A brand new 2010 car financed and paid within a year at zero interest seems like a good idea to me.  Given that I intend to use the car for 4+ years hopefully.  Or am I getting something wrong here?

Hello all. Pls can anyone share contacts of a reliable Peugeot mechanic in Abuja. I have used about 4 mechanics so far for my Peugeot 406 in the last one year. Not only are they rip-offs, they end up putting the car in a worse condition after working on the car.
